The Broncos began a sixth scoring drive led by a new quarterback, rookie Brock Osweiler, but the Denver rushing attack did the majority of the work on the 43-yard drive that ended with a field goal.
Denver ran the ball seven times — four runs by Lance Ball and three by Jacob Hester. The highlight of the drive was an 18-yard bruiser by Hester, who shed multiple tackles to reach the K.C 25-yard line.
Osweiler was 2-of-3 for 12 yards on the drive.
Kicker Matt Prater finished it off with a 42-yard field goal on his first attempt of the game.
With Osweiler taking over the offense, Manning’s 2012 regular season is presumably finished. If that’s the case, he finished his first year as a Bronco with 400-of-583 passing, 4,659 yards, 37 touchdowns and 11 interceptions for a passer rating of 105.8. He set franchise single-season records in passing yards, completions, completion percentage (68.6), touchdowns and passer rating.
With a 144.8 passer rating in today’s game, he became the first quarterback in NFL history to string together 13 straight games with a passer rating of 90.0 or better.
