For the first time this season, Kyle Orton’s name filled out a spot on the injury report.
The quarterback participated in Wednesday’s practice in a limited capacity as he nursed the rib injury he suffered last Sunday in Arizona. Orton returned to finish that game and said he never doubted his ability come back and perform through the pain.
“They asked me, and I said I wanted to keep on going,” he said. “I was sore coming out of the game for sure. I just keep on getting the treatment throughout the week and (I’ll) be as healthy as I can.”
The Cardinals intercepted Orton three times in the contest, but the Broncos’ signal-caller did not attribute his play to the injury.
In each of the past two games, Orton has thrown for less than 200 yards and been held without a touchdown pass.
“You have to go out and play well,” Orton said. “I have to go out and play better than I have the last couple of weeks.”
Interim Head Coach Eric Studesville said in his Wednesday press conference that his coaching staff and his No. 1 quarterback are working as hard as they can to return the passing game to form.
Orton still ranks fourth in the league with 3,653 passing yards and boasts a touchdown to interception ratio higher than two-to-one. Studesville said Orton is “absolutely” penciled in to start at Oakland this weekend.
“A lot of our guys are banged up right now,” Studesville said. “It is Week 14 in the NFL, and guys that have been playing consistently have bumps and bruises. Kyle does have some bumps and bruises.”
Last year’s matchup against the Redskins on the road indicates that Orton would not force himself to play if he did not feel physically capable of delivering his top performance.
The quarterback took himself out of that game with a hobbled ankle, and missed his only start of the season the following week against the Chargers. Orton came off the bench in that game, entering the contest only when he was called on to relieve Chris Simms.
“I have come out of a game before,” Orton said. “I have hurt my ankle bad enough. I did it last year where I hurt my ankle bad enough I didn’t feel like I could play and be a help, so I didn’t play.”
If the coaches and the training staff do not deem Orton healthy enough to play on the road this weekend, it could mean more playing time for Tim Tebow, who has served as the backup quarterback for the majority of the season.
Tebow said live game action could speed up his learning curve.
“I think it’s a great learning opportunity to have real, live reps and to have that opportunity,” he said. “I think that would help, but either way, I think I’m getting experience just by watching and by practicing and going against a great defense every day.”
As a competitor, Tebow said he would love to play, but he has also expressed a desire to support the team in any role he’s given. The rookie knows he has plenty of time to develop into a professional-caliber player.
“I don’t know that it was this season that I had to prove to myself to be an NFL quarterback,” he said.
“That’s something that I think comes down deep and is something that is deep down inside of your heart and I know that whatever it takes, however long it takes, whatever determination and focus it takes, I’ll end up putting in that effort and determination and get the job done.”

Orton is probably thinking”I don’t know what they see in this kid”.
Bay I totally agree with your 10:11 post bro!
This IS a business,Studs knows he isn’t getting the HC job.
The early bird ALWAYS gets the worm, don’t wait too late or all the good ones will be gone, just saying.
haha, Idk if you have my guess bay, 42-17 sorry i have to go with my gut here. I think Seymore will nail Orton sometime in the first half and knock him our, Tebow will come in and the rest will be history haha
Any chance Thomas could play this week?
I want to know who here believes that Tebow can become an NFL QB?
I have EVERYBODY’s guess Yovi.
Its going to be hush hush for now about the GM and HC jobs.
If we really are interested in Gruden,Dungy,or Cowher we need to move now, they are not under contract in the NFL and are fair game,I bet all kinds of teams are talking to them now.
You were the second pick of the week after sndvl.
Hey, you got something there. maybe I should be like the Broncos and go for worst best…? I could claim my fame by mastering the wall of shame!!!
Okay, I’m swiching my pick to Broncos 78 Raiders 0…….hahahaha…….kidding! I’ll stick with the lucky qtr…
Nice of you to clarify my inept ability to guess the score bay… If I were the Head Coach of the score guessing team I would be fired….haha
Thomas is out!
I want to know who here believes that Tebow can become an NFL QB?
ME!
ILMS TIMMY TEBOW THE TRENCH TORPEDO!!!!!!
Ok OC, to make you feel better you are not the worse, we actually have ddk002 who managed to put himself on the WOS TWICE!!! and no top fives for currently last place with minus 10 points…
I feel much better now. Thanks…lol
OC, way cool dude.
Hey I just thought of something if we change back to a 4-3 scheme and draft some good DLs,and become a good Dline,we could name our Dline…………….wait for it………wait for it……….”THE 4 TRENCHMEN”.I like it.
It sounds like the name of a trench digger you could rent at your local equipment power tool rental place, haha.
Can dig a trench with the power of 4 men, LMAO…
i forget if i had predicted a score already, so just tell me if i have, but right now im gonna say
OAK-37
DEN21
Some of you guys continue to ask the wrong question. It isn’t, “should the Broncos play Tebow over Orton?” The real question is, “should the Broncos play Tebow to give him needed experience and see what he has?” Tebow doesn’t have much trade value regardless. Just because the Broncos used a first round pick on him doesn’t mean that’s what he’s worth to all the other teams. The Broncos need to know what they have because they are about to go into the draft with a high pick and a bunch of pocket-passing, NFL-oriented QBs on the table. If Tebow’s unorthodox style and “intangibles” don’t work, the Broncos need to know this season, not next season after the draft. I agree Orton has had a great statistical season, but as any player or fan will tell you, it doesn’t matter if you aren’t winning games. McDaniels was terrible at pretty much every aspect of the game off the field, but I guarantee you that Orton owes a great deal of his success to McDaniels’ offensive mind. Without McDaniels, Orton will, and already has, returned to being an average QB. He is not the QB of the future. He did great this season, and I was an advocate for him starting, but now that the season is out of hand, it doesn’t matter if Orton is playing great or starting or not. Put Tebow in and let’s see what he’s got. McDaniels wouldn’t start him because he was scared that if he failed, he would be viewed as a failure even more so. Interim coach Studesville won’t play him because he doesn’t think he gives him the best chance to win and he only cares about improving his own resume (and understandably so).
No, that’s it.
I bet that if a new CBA isn`t reached any time soon then NFL owners might balk at hiring and bringing in a high paying topflite HC this year. If the CBA negociatings falter, owners just might hire within their organization. I pray that the CBA all works out. There`s still many things to iron out but I hear that there is progress. I want an experienced HC.
Ha! The four trenchman of the Apocalyps! Which one is death?LOL
Makes you Wonder. Without Orton the Bronco`s may have gone 0-16 this year. Maybe.
Withe Tebow we might have gone 8-8. You never know.

And what does Elway do then?
He does what all VP’s do. He sits back and watches over the team and makes sure we don’t do anything stupid…
Elways roll is hard to pinpoint right now. It all depends on how experienced our next coach is. If it’s a Dungy or Cower, JE has a lot less to wory about. If it’s Stud or a coach that has diminished power in decisions, then JE’s responsibilities will be far greater.
I like the idea of getting an experienced HC. I don’t want to gamble on another neophyte HC.
If we brought in Either of those two I`d be in heaven. Pure joy.
Thats why you don’t draft injured…Thomas has been one seriously injured guy all year. All tho McD did put him in compromising situations like KR. Fast sure, but big target. I like still like Thomas (and deckers) potential…But would take Bmarsh over all anyday…his extra effort is unmatched.
Just some FB/Twitter updates:
Coach Studesville said the team rested Kyle Orton during yesterdays practice, and Tim Tebow took most of the reps. He “did a nice job.”
David Bruton will be back at today’s practice, and Darcel McBath “practiced well” yesterday.
Matt Prater is “feeling better” and will kick today at practice.
Studesville said while Brandon Lloyd rested yesterdays practice, he expects him to practice today.
It was all probably in his press conference today….
Tebow did a nice job huh…all he needs are the reps and the kid will be ready to go…START THE MAN….
Here is a long list of things McD did right……
#1 Drafted Tim Tebow
#2 Invented the Big Mac
#3 foiled the hamburgler
Helluva resume, eh? lol
Sam Wyche, who was Joe Montana’s QB coach and Boomer Esaison HC in Cincinatti says he is as smart as any QB he has worked with. It takes alot more than a perfect throwing motion to being a NFL QB. It takes alot of hard work and perseverance, Tebow has that in spades. It more depends on the new regime and how they handle him. But I think if he is given a shot he will make it just fine. Heck Phillip Rivers has some throws that are just horrible, but he is a leader and his guys belive in him. And Tony Romo’s throwing mechanics were called horrible by none other than Bill Parcells, but he worked on them and now has one of the quickest releases in the NFL. Tebow will make it becaue he is willing to put in the time and work required to suceed. If all it took was phycial talent we would be talking about Peyton and Ryan Leaf going into the HOF together and be talking about JaMarcus Russel’s third pro-bowl season.
Marshall is talented no doubt, but he has already started his meltdown in Miami. Would you rather see him implode Miami…or Denver? The fact that his teammates had enough of him last year was enough for me to be glad he is gone. And really, has he produced much this year? Giving up at the end of games, the bone-headed toss to Cutler or throwing the ball into the stands after a catch? I would rather watch him get his year-long suspension for his next off the field antics from afar, not beamoning him being lost for the season from our team. Ditto for Cutler, he is not and probably will never be a true leader. When the chips are down and a play is not made, his guys will come to expect him to blame anyone other than him.
START TEBOW! Orton lost his job to Rex Grossman at one point in his career! We KNOW what he can do!
Raiders 17
Broncos 10
I still say we need Chucky. For the future. But now I want tebow to play. Stud told peter king on nfl sirius that if and when tebow plays he is totally capable of running this offense. Its TEBOW TIME.
By the way Bay 24-21 Broncos. Still have faith.
Hey, there is a blogger who hasn’t found out what it’s like to argue about Marshall with TRB, LOL.
Im not trying to argue…im stating a fact. I spent 11 years in the military and while you cannot even begin to compare a football team to soldiers, a guy who is on the team and not sold out to the team is a morale killer. And when the team captains approched McDaniels and asked him to do something about Marshall (benched him for the KC game) that was all I needed to hear. I dont spend all day with Marsh, so I cant possibly know anything about it. So I will defer to the guys who do spend all day with him and they were tired of his antics.
You’ll get no arguments from me buddy, I was the one here who launched the “Marshall must go” campaign at the end of last year, all I was saying is TRB is like Marshall’s twin, you’ll find out soon enough, haha.
I missed my score prediction last week as I was still in shock. And it is completely impossible to guess, I literally have no idea.
But I’ll go with form, Raiders will beat us at their place, 31 – 13
At least we’ll have another interesting off-season. I too would like an experienced coach, Gruden would be my choice. D in the draft, front 7.
Look… the bottom line is Orton has maxed out his ability. we as a team are not playing well, and the only way to change that happen is to add something to the mix to inspire these guys. we need someone that can bring these guys together in the huddle and say “time to put the women and children to bed and go lookin for dinner!”..
sorry, had to use that quote! anyway, my point is there is no way that orton is the QB of the future. so IMO we are just wasting valuable time to let him top the record books? you must be kidding me. moronic comes to mind! is there anyone here that honesly thinks that one of the first things asked of the next HC will NOT be concerning Tebow as our starter? Elway likes him, gruden likes him, …. WE FRIGGIN LIKE HIM. all thats left is to play him and get him ready for next season.
TEBOW TEBOW TEBOW…..GRUDEN GRUDEN GRUDEN
Keep on buckin broncos(and fans)
OFFENSE WINS GAMES DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS!!
PS… good point about TT’s mechanics. LOTS of QB’s dont have perfect mechanics!
oh ya, and my prediction: broncos 24 raiders 31
oh wow, i just threw up a little in my mouth when making that prediction.
Prediction?? … can’t see the Broncos winning – I thought they’d beat Arizona, and they could have, but imploded finally … so – I guess the Raiders make it 2 times this year, just as they did w/ the Chargers …
Raiders 34 – Broncos 24 …
Probably see Tebow this game … lots of reasons (excuses) to … ribs, losing season, assessment, etc … maybe I’ll finally get to see the Broncos on home TV this week … many weeks this year they’ve put the Broncos on for Sunday, during the week, only to have no game or another game, which pisses me off no end … it’s really difficult to get pumped for games, now that the team has shown they truly suck … we do seem to have some good individual players, but no TEAM … not yet, at least … as I’ve said, many times, we’re not good enough (YET) … let’s hope we hire a good, experienced coach, and it only takes us a year or two to become competitive – I don’t know how many more years like the last 2 or 3 I’m good for … I love the Broncos – BUT?????
OC,with that there resume that McD has he should have no problem finding another job.LMAO.
Well, this is what I want. I don’t want Tebow to start, but rather take several snaps this week (around 15-20) and of those snaps I’d like to see him throw the ball 7-10 times! Next week though I think Tebow should undoubtedly get the nod, Not only to get fans into those seats but to get some experience for our future! I don’t care what else happens this season, I just want to see some Tebow!
GO BRONCOS! GO TEBOW!
Well I think most fans liked the Thomas pick and not so much the Tebow pick, but now the Tebow pick is looking better, never draft injured players, you never know they might turn out to have injury proned careers, but I hope not, cause Thomas has a ton of potential.
I still think we should have taken Pouncey and then Tebow, afterall they played together in college, would have made an easier transition for both.
DRAFT DEFENSE NEXT YEAR,WE WANT A NEW DLINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Start Tebow against Houston.
“time to put the women and children to bed and go lookin for dinner!”..
Very nice… and that is still my second favorite movie to this day.
THe Program that is.. My first has to be Varsity Blues, As a back up QB in HS, that movie was my dream in HS. The funny thing for me is, that I was just about 100% better passing QB then the starter but he was 200% better of a runner, and we were on a full out option team. I played in a total of 3 quarters my senior year in one game. 215 yards and 2 TD’s. (My Al Bundy story also… oh how it seems life has failed me.)
“Interim Head Coach Eric Studesville talks about the status of Kyle Orton, how the staff is dividing practice reps between Tim Tebow and Brady Quinn and preparing for Sunday.”
why is quinn even getting reps? lol
1. Heard no team mates say they were tired of marshall. The team captains meeting had nothign to do with that. was never said. 2. He doesn’t give up in games…he puts out more effort than any reciever i have ever seen to make plays for his team. 3. He is on a team that runs the ball with a horrendous QB 4. as far as tossing the ball to cutler, they are buddies, just friendly ribbing. he admited it was a boneheaded move. time and place for everuthing….But to each his own lol
BAY,
I tried not to respond to it but you know how hard it is for me lol
…that was addressed to elvisdoom4qbs .. and dont worry bay is on your side all the way lol. Everyone knows they can’t tell me nothing about Marshall lol. I don’t take the back and forth serious tho…just can’t help my self
. I wil agree he lacks discipline and is a slave to his emotions…
think quinn is getting reps in the even orton is inactive so he at least has SOME idea wtf is going on.
I just listened to what my two least favorite football analysts had to say. Chris Collinsworth and Phil Sims… Same ol same ol…. Other than winning a Sb what in the heck does Tebow have to do, to prove to the world he is the real deal… Biggest argument, he is not a typical NFL QB, easy fix, then don’t force him to be something his is not. HE IS NOT the typical NFL QB and 99% of the greats weren’t either. Let’s take a quick look at Montana, the implementation of the west coast offense was not typical at the time. Steve Young, proved a left handed QB can be productive and win a SB. Mike Vick showed the world what a duel threat NFL QB can be about. John Elway, not the typical NFL QB, Brett Favre, Peyton Manning, etc…. It is killing me to listen to the idiocy.
Wow, I am too tired to make a clear and decise point here, so off to bed I go. Have a great day Bronco Country.
Ok fellas I have read a few of you talking about wearing shorts the last couple of months and bay not having a shovel, your killing me!! I am in South Dakota and it has been nasty cold here lately. For a few days it was 5, thats right 5 I did not forget another number. It is a heat wave today it is 18 and I am sad to say it really does feel pretty nice out. I guess that means I have lived here way to long when 18 feels warm!
