For the first time this season, Kyle Orton’s name filled out a spot on the injury report.
The quarterback participated in Wednesday’s practice in a limited capacity as he nursed the rib injury he suffered last Sunday in Arizona. Orton returned to finish that game and said he never doubted his ability come back and perform through the pain.
“They asked me, and I said I wanted to keep on going,” he said. “I was sore coming out of the game for sure. I just keep on getting the treatment throughout the week and (I’ll) be as healthy as I can.”
The Cardinals intercepted Orton three times in the contest, but the Broncos’ signal-caller did not attribute his play to the injury.
In each of the past two games, Orton has thrown for less than 200 yards and been held without a touchdown pass.
“You have to go out and play well,” Orton said. “I have to go out and play better than I have the last couple of weeks.”
Interim Head Coach Eric Studesville said in his Wednesday press conference that his coaching staff and his No. 1 quarterback are working as hard as they can to return the passing game to form.
Orton still ranks fourth in the league with 3,653 passing yards and boasts a touchdown to interception ratio higher than two-to-one. Studesville said Orton is “absolutely” penciled in to start at Oakland this weekend.
“A lot of our guys are banged up right now,” Studesville said. “It is Week 14 in the NFL, and guys that have been playing consistently have bumps and bruises. Kyle does have some bumps and bruises.”
Last year’s matchup against the Redskins on the road indicates that Orton would not force himself to play if he did not feel physically capable of delivering his top performance.
The quarterback took himself out of that game with a hobbled ankle, and missed his only start of the season the following week against the Chargers. Orton came off the bench in that game, entering the contest only when he was called on to relieve Chris Simms.
“I have come out of a game before,” Orton said. “I have hurt my ankle bad enough. I did it last year where I hurt my ankle bad enough I didn’t feel like I could play and be a help, so I didn’t play.”
If the coaches and the training staff do not deem Orton healthy enough to play on the road this weekend, it could mean more playing time for Tim Tebow, who has served as the backup quarterback for the majority of the season.
Tebow said live game action could speed up his learning curve.
“I think it’s a great learning opportunity to have real, live reps and to have that opportunity,” he said. “I think that would help, but either way, I think I’m getting experience just by watching and by practicing and going against a great defense every day.”
As a competitor, Tebow said he would love to play, but he has also expressed a desire to support the team in any role he’s given. The rookie knows he has plenty of time to develop into a professional-caliber player.
“I don’t know that it was this season that I had to prove to myself to be an NFL quarterback,” he said.
“That’s something that I think comes down deep and is something that is deep down inside of your heart and I know that whatever it takes, however long it takes, whatever determination and focus it takes, I’ll end up putting in that effort and determination and get the job done.”
INJURY REPORT
Orton (ribs) was limited in Wednesday practice, while Kevin Alexander (ankle), David Bruton (ribs), Brian Dawkins (knee), Brandon Lloyd (calf), Matt Prater (right groin), Demaryius Thomas (ankle) and Marcus Thomas (ankle) did not practice. Eric Decker (foot), Spencer Larsen (hamstring) and Darcel McBath (quadricep) fully participated in practice.

T Khalif Barnes (back), QB Kyle Boller (quadricep), S Hiram Eugene (ribs) and WR Nick Miller (ankle) were all limited in practice. S Tyvon Branch (shoulder), LB Travis Goethel (knee), CB Chris Johnson and TE Zach Miller fully participated in practice.

Repost:
Its fader week and you all know how I feel about that! But I must disagree with signing Champ! He is a first class all pro team first player! But I not only hope the Broncos trade him for value but because it’s the right thing to do!! Champ has earned his right to get to a SB! Trade him to a team he picks for what ever we can get. Yup I said HE PICKS!! I know this goes against the grain for most of us including me! But Champ should not only go to the Pro Bowl again and be in the Hall but his finger should feel the weight of a Super Bowl Ring!!!
Now what I think about Elway and Tim Tebow time is this:
I think Elway should have been hired to control McD before he destroyed our team! Remember McD 101!! So I am all for Elway coming on board to help right the respect and tradition of this team!
Tim Tebow should play if he is ready not because I or anybody else thinks Studs is wrong!! I am a TT fan but if he starts? Let him prepare and practice as the number 1 then start him. It’s not ohh well throw him in and see what happens!!
Just saying!
FTR
This just in the Denver Broncos have just been ranked as the worst team in the league!!!!!
Screw the raiders.
Repost:
I agree with the main man Mr.B!! He is no crypt keeper like Al Davis. Give his choice of a coach in McD the remainder of the season to see what happens. (Give him the rope to hang himself) Then make a change if he thinks one should be made. I myself think something between John Elway and the team could happen!! Change is coming!! In the mean time as true Bronco Fans let’s not stop supporting our TEAM. I read some posts here and it reminds me like off season posts. Already choosing a replacement Coach shame on us!! I have hated McD from the start but remember –It is what it is. I support the team and what they represent and will always be first to cheer god or bad on any given Sunday!! Just saying.
ILMSDB
FTR
McD used the rope!!
Can not remember who posted this before game 7 but it should be posted again:
1. First of all let me start off by saying “I hate the Raiders” Now, I know it is not good to hate anything, let alone something as trivial as a sports team. But there is good reason for my feelings.
The Raiders and their fans represent all that is bad in the world. They are cheap, disgusting, dirty, no good worshipers of darkness. They are the dirt bags of society. They offer nothing to human kind other than to try to destroy all that is good in the world.
I know some of you must be saying….this seems a lil extreme. They are just people doing a job or just fans cheering for their team.
Ha ha ha, you have the wool pulled over your eyes my friend! This team and everything associated with them is the epitome of evil.
The Broncos on the other hand represent hope. Our colors represent the sunrise, a new beginning, hope, and beauty. This team is the epitome of goodness.
So this Sunday, we will once again witness the battle between good and evil. When Al Davis and his henchmen come into Mile High, the Broncos and their fans will have to stare into the eyes of the beast, and not blink. A lot of weight will be on the crowds shoulders. If you are going to be at Mile High, you have a responsibility to yell and stomp the darkness back to the black hole which it came from. The world is counting on you.
I agree
FTR
This time its the black hole!
FTR
FTR, well said. Perfect. I`ve just got to share something with ya, and whoever else would like this story. It ties into what you just said. Now this is a true story. This was about 5 or 6 years ago. I was watching a Bronco game. The Bronco`s where at the black hole at the enemies stadium. I was enjoying the game and my parents came home from church. It was the 4th qaurter. As my mother walked into the living room where I was watching the game the TV camera`s where fix upon the black hole showing all the CRAZYS. All that DARK EVIL COSTUMES they all wear. Skulls, Darthvader ext…….. She saw evil dark figures and said. What in the world is that? I replied, THAT IS THE EVIL DARK FORCES OF THE NFL. She said WELL I DON`T LIKE THEM. I said back WELL I DON`T EITHER. There`s not a single Bronco fan in this world who doe`s. I even went as far to tell my mother that the owner of these dark forces is in league with the ANTICHRIST. To this day when ever I think about that moment I LMAO. Freaken hillarious. She knows nothing about football. She`s very religous. I couldn`t have written a better script. I think she was a Bronco fan in another life. My mother saw EVIL and said I HATE THEM. THATS EVIL. JUST LOOK AT THEM.
God I love it. LOL
hopefully tim tebow will start
FTR does come out on Raider games big time, but that’s only two games a year, only wished we would get your input more often FTR, just saying.
Too bad evil prevailed on that black Sunday in October. It was a nightmare. It was a miracle they didn’t score 70. Remember they put the 59 up in 3 quarters.
FTR- you’re absolutely correct. Champ deserves a ring. I would just hate to see him leave. Seen way too much of that the last 2 years. It is what it is.
I know we need D-line. In a bad way. Have for years. If we have the chance to draft Peterson, it would be a mistake not to. Hopefully he’s off the board before were on the clock…
BTW, has anyone seen tape on Ryan Kerrigan. DE from Purdue. First team AP All-American. Guy has a motor for sure!!!
GO BRONCOS!!! Beat the evil empire
Anyway, on this 2nd 2010 Raider week I am going to re-post this all time best anti Raider tirade I have ever heard posted here before the earlier 59-14 debacle to the Raiders by r8r h8rdude:

Guess I’m sitting Orton for the fantasy playoffs. Great! Just when Manning is heating up. Well, if Jax wants that division bad enough, they’ll put Manning on his back a few times.
Surprised no one mentioned the Irony of Favre’s streak ending and the Metrodome’s roof collapsing.
Funny story, was talking to a buddy earlier, Bears fan, but loved TD. Mentioned Elway was rumored to be making a comeback and he thought I meant starting QB. LMAO
FTR, I thought I should re-post that with proper credentials, and if you remember I brought that up to your attention on week 7, but either way we are most likely to get killed Sunday no matter how we want to FTR, LOL.
F.T.R.
FTR,not only did McD use the rope it got tangled around some good players and coaches and took them with him.
41-14 Raiders, sorry.
Hey, not sure if all of you saw this in one of the articles posted in another blog but I think it’s a bunch of crap! For our starting QB to straight up come out and say he doesn’t care about what the fans think of him just makes him look like a pompous you-know-what!
‘Orton said he doesn’t pay attention to the fans clamoring for Tebow to get more snaps or even a start as this lost season winds down with the Broncos standing at 3-10.
“No, I don’t listen to it. I guess their opinion doesn’t have any factor in the way I play. I don’t think it has any factor on the way my teammates think of me and so that’s pretty much how I go about it. I don’t really have an opinion on it,” Orton insisted.’
You would think that if the fans are booing him, he might step up his game and make the fans happy but now we know that it doesn’t make a difference. Now, more than ever, I’m really hoping for Tebow time and I hope Orton is benched for the rest of the season. (Just my humble opinion tho)
Bay-LOL! You’re probably on the right track with that score!
FTR- LOL! Raiders fans are mostely gangbangers and snowboarders (from my part of NM and CO).
I will say that Tebow starts the 2nd half and we win 27-24 on a late Tebow pass to Decker! I’m dreaming but I like it!
Go Broncos!
The blog is titled ‘Orton Limited In Practice’.
It should be titled ‘Orton limited as a QB’.
Play Tebow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Raiders 45
Broncos 17
BTW, Crazy, is this your real pick?:

Having just lost to the Cardinals 43-13 my Raiders prediction has to be 60 zip to the Raiders.
60-0 Raiders? Let me know for sure.
Any chance we see Quinn catch? Or would that be too much to ask?
Orton being limited in practice…sounds like he shouldnt have finished the cardinals game he was stinking up anyway…but I guess he wanted to show he team mates he can keep going….and he sure did keep going…kept stinking it up. And can I see a picture of Tebow passing now more than ever … This pic of him running makes me feel like we are moving backwards instead of forwards…He should be getting more reps with first team to prep him for starting the last two weeks.
As far as Lloyd saying he prefers Orton or whatever…of course he does, they go back to chicago together…wouldnt expect less from friends. Actually If he has said he wanted Tebow…I would thought that was not cool. Never publicly show your lack of faith in your starting QB is how I feel. The man passing you the ball. Just not a good look. Even if he is stinking up the spot. As long as he is starting…political answers only….as much as i would like to hear the truth, that would just feel wrong.
As far as orton not caring what the fans mean…when I heard and read it…didn’t read too much into it. Figured he was just saying he would focus on what he can control (at least what he assumes he can control cuz he sure didnt look in control last sunday).
I say we lose…only way we win is if We get a miracle start like against KC…Broncos lose 34 – 23
Look at Orton in the picture really dosent look like a wining QB slumped over and sloppy. We haved played this guy all year and we havent gotten any good results. I think its time for a change. PLAY TEBOW!!!!!!!! The season is over lets see what someone else can do.
PLAY TEBOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just put in Tebow already. Actually, just start all the young guys. At least they would play football because while everybody else is playing for a paycheck, those guys would be playing for a starting role next year.
Give us fans something to be excited about.
Studesville would look like a better coach evaluating talent and mixing things up, as opposed to staying the course of McD who left us for dead as a laughing stock in the NFL.
I am so tired of this crap.
We are 3-10. We have fired our HC. We have won only 5 games in the last 23. And yet we are sticking to the McD way? Give no answers, and keep all the talent on the bench.
I hope to God we get a HC who knows how to mix things up. Michael Lombardi slammed us saying we are afraid of change and thats why we fired McD. We fired McD because is change was crap, and because he refused to change anything even after he knew he was failing.
Let’s keep throwing it with Orton, and playing uninspired football. Because we eventually have to be awesome doing so, right?
Give me a break. Start Tebow, and Thomas, and Royal, and Decker. And Syd’Quan, and Bruton, and McBath, and Vaughn.
We need to mix it up. Get excitement going. We got all these high character guys. Let’s play em! Cuz if they aren’t gonna play we might as well trade em for draft picks or other high character guys who can sit on the bench.
Oh wait, that is what we have been doing the last 2 seasons.
Sigh…..
Broncos 24
Raiders 23
Totally not realistic, but whatever. A guy can dream.
Bay I Appriciate your post from 7:41. All truth bro. Well said. Way to go man.
Lloyd also says McD was the best coach he has ever played for. I assume only because McD is the only coach he had that made a system to give him the ball. Lloyd only wants Orton to start because he knows Orton will key on him! Tebow makes me feel confident that the Broncos have a BRIGHT future. We finally have a leader on our team that won’t let himself fail! I’ve got a fever and my prescription is for some TEBOW haha
GO BRONCOS!!!!
AHAH strandoftds,
thats one of the funnniest things Ive heard. Couldnt help but laugh at that BlackHole story of yours..Good one!lmao
What can I say, lets destroy those raiders…
FTR,
As much as I hate thinking of it, I would agree with your idea on CHamp. I should have faith that we be the team that brings Champ his SB ring. Then again, we had so much hope at the begining of this season. o.O
Go Broncos
i agree…..TebowTime. Lloyd did the right thing by saying what he said. It shows that there is “team” beliefs in that locker room. Thank you McD you left one good thing. Orton needs to show some emotion. He says he dont listen to the fans but he should. if it did matter to him he would probably be a better leader.
Broncos 23 Raiders 20 late drive by Tebow lead Broncos for game winning 43 yd field goal. ( ahh lets make it more dramatic )
Broncos 22 Raiders 20 : this makes it do or die. lol
Go Broncos
If Orton starts 31-3 raiders
If Tebow starts 28-14 our boys.
Kids wait for christmas I wait for Tebow Time, it could be sunday what a place to get your first start.
Let the legend begin.
collies10, if you meant to pick for our friendly contest, you must give one pick alone, can’t take those.
tebowking 15, got you down for 22-20 Broncos win as you made that your final pick.
About the comments some wanting Bailey to move on so he can get his shot at a ring are strandely reminiscent of the talks others and I held here to no end last year about letting Hillis move on to another team so he could get some playing time. It might of been for a different reason but bottom line same thing, get out of here to get your dues, funny.
About Large Quinn maybe catching, we probably stand a better shot at seing Cute Quinn throw some in this one.
Studs talking about the last 59-14 blow out against the Raiders and how his team will respond:
“I hope there’s a tremendous pride factor in that,” Studesville said of the October loss to the Raiders. “The gentlemen that played in that game get another chance. … I think our room is full of prideful individuals.”
“Gentlemen”, REALLY, are you serious, we are playing crickett now? LOL.
The gentlemen got their noses rubbed in it in that game proving gentlemen don’t win on Sundays in this league. Come on Studs, a better choice of word would seem in order here, I don’t want any gentlemen on my team on Sundays, the rest of the week I’m all for it, but if gentlemen show up to represent my team on Sunday again I will be furious.
And gentlemen, a word of caution, you will be in the Black Hole this week where there won’t be a single gentleman anywhere.
And “room full of prideful individuals”? It just sounds so funny coming off a 43-13 loss to the then 3-9 Cardinals with a rookie QB who started his first game ever.
And I’m afraid the cat is out of the bag, we have been found out, we have been exposed and everyone is now on to us as Legwold explains:
For almost as long as there has been football, there has been an overwhelmed defensive coordinator saying he had to stop somebody’s run game in order for his team to win.
For the last couple of weeks, however, defenses have chosen to flip the script when playing against the Broncos. The Chiefs and the Cardinals made stopping the Broncos’ passing attack job No. 1 and lived with whatever the Denver run game put together.
And we are in for a long end of the season. Since teams have been double teaming Lloyd teams have stopped us to just one TD and four FG’s in two games.
Dear Coach Stud:
If they were so prifeful then they wouldn’t have let Arizona’s kicker score 28 fantasy points on them including a TD run, if they were so prideful they wouldn’t have let a 18th round QB (over exaggerating I know), they wouldn’t have let JJ (the RB not the one from Good Times) look so dynomiteeeeeeee running the ball, they wouldn’t have let the Cardinals whip us for their first win EVER against us. So enough about the pride stuff. All we’ve seen is a lack of pride this season, esp during home games minus the Jets and Chiefs game.
Funny song related article by Woody:
You better watch out, you better not cry,
Better not pout, I’m telling you why,
A new coach is coming to town.
I’m making a list and I’m checking it twice
Doesn’t include Mike Tice, surely not Charlie Weis.
A new coach is coming to town.
Fewer than 30 shopping days remain until the Broncos will choose a new general manager, then a new coach.
There must be no fooling around. Too much stuff has hit the fan . . . and the fans.
The Broncos can’t wait to make the two critical hires until after the Super Bowl on Feb. 6, and certainly can’t wait until after Pat Bowlen has to send out a letter as he did in April of last year imploring the Broncos’ dedicated disciples to believe in the “honesty and integrity” of the organization and that Josh McDaniels shared his vision of getting back to the “the highest championship level.”
So much for all that.
Prideful not Prifeful
Woody’s best bets for GM:
Brian Xanders (general manager-in-name now),
former Broncos GM Ted Sundquist (an executive with the Omaha UFL team),
Ernie DeCosta (Ravens director of pro personnel),
Rick Smith (Texans general manager),
Randy Mueller (Chargers exec),
Bill Parcells (late of the Dolphins),
Charley Casserly (CBS analyst)
and Tom Telesco (Colts director of player personnel).
I was thinking about the “prideful individuals” comment as well. What we need is some hard hitting, mean as heck, hit em in da mouth, Raider Hatin, nasty, jaw jackin, Eh…forget it. Were obviously a team of high character individuals. Too bad.
Gentlemen! LMAO…
