At a press conference on Thursday, Head Coach Josh McDaniels was asked how many quarterbacks would see action for the Broncos on Sunday against Pittsburgh.
McDaniels cracked a smile as he delivered his answer — one.
“That’s the rule,” McDaniels said. “One at a time.”
Questions about Tim Tebow’s chance of suiting up against the Steelers after sitting out the Detroit game prompted McDaniels to have a little fun with the reporters.
When the laughter left the room, he offered a more transparent evaluation of the rookie quarterback.
“He’s still pretty sore, and there are some things that I don’t think he can really do effectively at this point,” McDaniels said. “We’ve got a few more days here before the game. We’d love for him to be in the game and play, so there could be two or there could be three (quarterbacks).”
Tebow has been practicing since Wednesday, shaking off the soreness suffered from shots Cincinnati defenders laid on him in the team’s preseason opener. How much he’s able to do will dictate his participation against Pittsburgh.
“I feel range of motion has been good, so now the next thing is contact,” Tebow said.
The rookie signal-caller said it was “hard” for him to sit out against the Lions, but he was able to glean a greater knowledge of the offense from a coaches box above the field.
Every play was a chance for him to put himself in the Kyle Orton or Brady Quinn’s shoes, but without the speed of the game at field level.
“It can definitely look a lot easier from up top than it does when you’re under center,” Tebow said. “(I was) just trying to know what the quarterbacks are thinking and walk through the steps in my head of the ‘Mike’ (middle linebacker) calls and what I would do versus this and this. So I tried to play the game in my head.”
For now, he’ll do what he can and wait on permission to play.
“That’s the coaches’ decision,” he said. “Whatever they tell me to do, I’ll be obedient to what they say.”

Enjoy the High Life at Mile High! man we gotta call Miller and make a proposal, LOL.
This year our season will depend on a couple of major things. I will name just a few. ( these are MY opinions and are not in any particular order of importance ). Now I think the O-Line is going to have to stay healthy, PROTECT whatever Qb that is in the game and create lanes for our Rb to run through. The D-line is going to have to tie up the O-Line so that our Lb’s can aggressively attack the back field. It will cause havok amongst the Qb and his line men. There will be much Chaos with the penetration of our Lb’s and it would only be possible if our D-line can hold up their O-Line. When in the 4-3, get to the Qb with our front line. Our 4 line MUST get to the Qb. Atleast to make him hurry his throws. That way we wont have to BLITZ and our LB’s can drop back into coverage. We would have the field covered allowing everyone to play his area of the field. We would create alot of turn overs that way. Have a balanced attack. Have the run/pass ratio to about 70/30 if possible. If you can keep that ratio, you would wear the opposing Defense down by the 4th quater. You would keep our defense’s legs strong, we would have alot of energy going into the 4th. Their defense would be tired and worn down. We would keep the clock moving. Their would be less opportunities for Orton to throw ints. I will write more later but think about the things I jut wrote and please put your input about what you think. I live and die Broncos. I eat and s_it Broncos. The Broncos are my life and I live to be a BRONCO………IWILLX2 from Baltimore, Maryland
You and TRB live in the same city, because he always hates it when we play the Ravens like last year, after the loss he was afraid to go out and take the wrath of the locals against his Broncos. Not really afraid but he was talking to that effect.
I think if Denver utilizes their weapons this year then they could have a legit shot at the playoffs (of course thats quite the obvious statement) If Orton keeps his play up, we can incorperate Tebow into some special packages, and if Moreno can move the ball on the ground and in Wild Horses. Needless to say we have plenty of weapons on offense this year. I know it’s still up in the air but maybe when Demaryius comes back he can get that deep pass game going for us!
Defensively it’s simple pass rush! pass rush! pass rush! it scares me now to see our starters not even getting a push up front (especially with all the additions we’ve made this off-season) but I would be interested to see how Moss and Ayers do this year, I was excited to see them both come up with sacks last week! our LBs will be good as long as DJ is in the house although it sucks DOOM won’t be in this year! I believe our secondary is one of the best in the league and can make big playes but but only if we can get a legit pass rush!
I think the only way Denver makes the playoffs this year is if we win the west! I HATE to say it but the AFC is stacked this year with the Colts, Pats, Ravens, Jets, and (my least favorite team ever) the Chargers…and even after that there are the teams that might be good Fins, Titans, jags, and the steelers! so in short Denver has their work cut out for them!
GO DENVER 2010!
Yeah guys they can give away Miller Beer is the only way to get rid of it,nasty!
Now if you got some kinda slogan for Budweiser,I’ll jump on the bandwagon with both feet,AH!! nothing like an ice cold Budweiser or Bud Light!!!!!!!
BFE
DB….Yeah Orton might be playin with the backup Oline(because of injury) but he’s got the best backup Oline and WRs,and Quinn and Tebow get the 3rd stringers and the guys that prob won’t even make the team, just saying.
Just like to see Quinn and Tebow get to play with the 1st stringers against the Steelers, even if it’s just a few drives each, that’s not asking too much just to see what they got,Hell the game don’t count anyway, hard to judge them the same with different talent around them, not trying to start a quarrel with anybody, just trying to make an honest point.
Like I said before put Orton in with the 3rd stringers and see how effective he is,just saying.
Orton definitely has impressed me so far,but until he has great stats in big games, and can stretch the field against good Defenses,I will hold my judgment of him,to be honest,he hasn’t shown anything in regular season yet,and until he does,I’m still concerned at the QB position….Just one mans opinion that don’t mean a Helluva lot!
And it’s 5:00 in the East,and that means Beer Thirty,and no Miller,Baylin,LOL…j/k..haha.
BFE
BFE.. I drank that buttwiper beer for 20 years and always had a belly ache and headache the next day. One day me pappy said “maybe you should change beers”? He handed me a Milla Lite and the rest is history….
I still drink the bud light if no Milla is available. The real nasty stuff is the Coors…yuck!! that stuff taste like they brew if from pure Rocky Mountain Yellow Snow… haha.. never eat yellow snow…
OC..Yeah I’ve drank Bud changed to Miller Lite but changed back to Bud Lite 4 life! and I agree Coors and Coors Lite suck! Never drink water and expect a buzz!hahaha
I get a headache too,but it’s got a lot better kick,if you know what I mean!
