Official Broncos Blog Scoring Contest

September 7th, 2012 - 2:13pm by Gray Caldwell

Bloggers –

With help from killerkod, we’ve developed the Official Broncos Blog Scoring Contest.

We’ve noticed that you predict the score to each game in the comments section, so thanks to killerkod’s suggestion, we decided to provide an easy way to submit those predictions.

Here are the only rules: your submission for the upcoming game will only be accepted starting Tuesday at noon leading up to the game. The cutoff time, obviously, is kickoff. In other words, we won’t accept any submissions after kickoff of each game, and don’t start predicting for the following game until Tuesday at noon.

Without further ado, here’s the link for this week’s predictions. I know some of you already made your predictions in the comments, but go ahead and add them in here as well — we’re contemplating weekly prizes for first, second and third place, and will almost certainly provide prizes for first, second and third place at the end of the season. So you want to be in the official tally.

The top three bloggers closest to the score each week (by total difference in score) get points. First place = 7 points, second place = 5 points, third place = 3 points. Blogger must pick the winning team to get points.

Good luck!

And TD and Mark Schlereth are in Denver today and tomorrow too. I don’t know who else will be at the game but its like one big Broncos reunion! Thank YOU JOHN ELWAY!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL Cat. Like I told you its the time of year I cant sleep. FOOTBALL SEASON lol. Friday and Saturday nights are always the worse for me. I gotta make sure I dont miss anything that will mess up any of my fantasy football leagues lol.

I just realized that this week is Tony Gonzalez return to KC since he left. I wonder how he will be treated upon his return.

Hey y’all. Just getting caught up, after a busy few days.. I need to share something with Broncos Country. There is an early morning sports radio show out here that Boomer Esiason hosts. I never really had an opinion of Boomer before but I don’t really like his show because his co-host is a clown IMO.

Anyway, I happened to catch a few minutes of his show the other day, and I think the topic was the pressure Rex Ryan is under, and then Boomer proceeded to go on a major tangent on how John Elway is under the most pressure in the entire NFL. He hinted that if Denver should lose to Pittsburg on Sunday, Elway’s decision would have to be considered a failure.. How that assumption could be made after week 1 of a 16 game season is beyond me, and those are pretty hypocritical words for someone who claimed the Jets should flat out cut Tim Tebow…

I just didn’t like the tone in his voice or the way he said it. It sounded malicious to me, and it reeked of jealously, as John Elway is running an NFL franchise, and Boomer Esiason is a slight step up from a disc jockey, and a monkey on a pre-game show… Long story short, I’m officially anti-Boomer, and I’m curious if he will take the opposite position in front of the national audience on Sunday, and if so, I might just have to call into his silly radio show come Monday morning and call him out on it…..

  6. alaskanbronco06 says:

Great article Cat. Nice little loophole that teams exploit. Little cheap (haha get it? cheap? LOL) of them to cut them and resign them to save money.

  7. alaskanbronco06 says:

OT I can see where hes coming from by saying that it would be a failure because Tebow beat them in the playoffs and with Manning we couldnt do it for the first game. BUT I dont see the truth behind because it is only the first game and there are 15 other games. Im sure there will be some who will say something along those lines when we play the Pats and say if we get blown out and Manning plays poorly then its a failure. All because it was what happened last year twice with Tebow. Just be prepared to hear a lot of that stuff this year for a lot of games. Like all our away division games which Tebow won all of them. Just going to hear a lot of “this game will show if Elways choice was right or wrong” To me no one game this year will show it.

And yes that is pretty hypocritical for him to do. Never could stand Boomer.

  8. tlcat06 says:

OT boomer Esiason is a tool and he will never be as good as John Elway! And he’s got a craw in his crotch.because John Elway is going to become he is going to become so much more amazing than he was already when he wins his team another SB… from the front office! Don’t you worry. There are plenty of people who never take him seriously and if he tries that crap on Sunday Shannon will put him IN HIS PLAVE!!! HONEST! You do that… call him out on it when we win but Shannon will too!

  9. tlcat06 says:

    Very cheeeap of them AB!

  10. tlcat06 says:

!wow I hope you get what I meant… my kindle is doing all kinds of weird things!

  11. tlcat06 says:

Do you have the link to this broadcast!? I will tweet it to Shannon. Maybe he can call him out on it when he changes his opinion tomorrow..

  12. tlcat06 says:

AB you’re right. We thought this summer was going to be bad but the season is going to be awful.. listenting to everyone who says we cant do it week in and week out because we don’t have Tebow. Awful! But if there is anyone who can take hat weight and win anyway I honk its Peyton Manning… afterall he has a bigger chip on his shoulder than ANYONE in the league right now.

  13. OrangeTsunami says:

I agree guys. Trust me, I’m not upset by it, and I realize it’s going to be a recurring theme all season long. Let the haters hate, I’m fine with it, because they are hating on us because we are a legit contender. I just didn’t like the way Boomer came across when saying it, and especially since he has been so vocal in his criticism of Tim Tebow. He’s trying to have it both ways IMO.

  14. alaskanbronco06 says:

Cat its going to be very almost every game. Every team we face that Tebow faced and beat will be compared to this years games with Manning.

I mentioned this briefly yesterday. But yesterday on ESPN First Take Mark Schlereth was on it. And SKip was going on about how Tebow won us those games and Schelreth had the best response ever. Heres the gist of it

Yes we all know how Tebow snapped the ball to himself, blocked all the rushers, threw the ball, caught it, and made the moves to get to the endzone along with playing a 1 man defense and kicking those game winning FGs

Skip Bayless was speachless after that LOL

  15. tlcat06 says:

Well he said some awful things about Tebow and he pretty much ranks up there with Merrill Hoge on being the scum of the earth. I know Tim is not the best QB but the things both those guys said are awful and extremely disrespectful.

  16. tlcat06 says:

Nicely done Mark! Do you think that video is available to watch?

  17. alaskanbronco06 says:

Cat I will see if I can. Im sure somewhere on youtube or ESPN you can find it.

  18. tlcat06 says:

    Just did! Thanks!!

  19. tlcat06 says:

It ends before he does his rubbtal… but I am beyond pissed that he continues to calm my team and offensives line pathetic.

  20. alaskanbronco06 says:

Not surprised to see the player suspensions for the bounties be overturned. Any of them could play this week if the team chooses.

  21. tlcat06 says:

Is there a second part to that video AB?

  22. alaskanbronco06 says:

Oh Cat. I didnt watch it all just the start of it to make sure it was the right video. Skip has gone off the deep end I think.

  23. tlcat06 says:

True AB but Goodell can put the suspensions right back on according to Jeff Darlington and Albert Breer on twitter

  24. tlcat06 says:

I don’t like him he is beyond disrespectful to my team.

  25. alaskanbronco06 says:

Cat not that I can find.

  26. alaskanbronco06 says:

Cat from what ive heard is that he now has to provide evidence to support the suspensions and as long as he doesnt they will stay overturned.

  27. tlcat06 says:

Now I’m mad because I’m pretty sure that Mark did not let him disrespect my team like that but its not letting me see his response!

  28. tlcat06 says:

Well he has claimed to have evidence all along so we can wait and see what happens from here.

  29. alaskanbronco06 says:

Lol Cat. It was hilarious. I love watching first take for the debates Smith and Skip get into. Try to catch it every morning.

  30. alaskanbronco06 says:

Cat that he has but never has shown it. In fact hes done things that make it (to me) seem he doesnt. Like offering Vilma a deal to drop the lawsuit about Goodell not showing the evidence by lowering Vilmas suspension from full year to 8 games. To me that just says he wanted to make an example but has no evidence to back it up.

Ughhh NFC Playbook why do you have to have McNabb on it?!

  31. tlcat06 says:

You know what’s funny? Skip actually believes that the Jets believe in Tebow.. well those players are selfish and egotistical. Not kind and unselfish like my Broncos. He has another thing coming if he thinks the Jets are going to be successful.

  32. tlcat06 says:

Well maybe all Goodell wanted to do was make an example out of them and now that he has he is going ti back off.

  33. alaskanbronco06 says:

That may be the case Cat. He has shown zero tolerance.

And I dont see how people dont realize that. Holmes wont sit by and allow them to only run. He will speak up and cause problems. Revis and Scott wont be happy about 3 n outs for most the game and having to be on the field so much. I think the only 1 offensive TD for the Jets speaks loudly about their offensive issues. Especially since that 1 TD was by McElroy.

  34. OrangeTsunami says:

The Jets actually have a very good defense this year, so it’s not completely out of the question that they could have some success, but I personally don’t see it happening. Both Sanchez and Tebow aren’t good at time of possession, have a lot of 3 and outs, and tend to turn the ball over. A lot will be asked of that defense, and it remains to be seen if they can weather the storm…

  35. alaskanbronco06 says:

Been reading and catching a lot of game predictions for this week. I am surprised as to how little I have seen people mention the Broncos pass rush vs that Oline of the Steelers. They allowed the most sacks last year and the one improvement they made to the line this offseason (DeCastro) is on IR. They have for a while had big concerns at the tackle spots. Which doesnt bode well for them with Miller Doom and Wolfe attacking them. Look at last years playoff game basically every passing play Doom and Miller where right by Big Ben. Often hitting him during his release or right after. I dont see how that cant be mentioned.

BTW Mendenhall has been moved to doubtful for this game.

  36. alaskanbronco06 says:

OT Yes they have a good D. Always have. Dont think Coples will really help their pass rush as much as many think and to me is still an issue for them. But with those 3 n outs theyre going to get tired.

  37. alaskanbronco06 says:

    New blog.

  38. tlcat06 says:

Good defended shrivel up and die when they have to play after so many three and outs! I’m not saying they don’t have a good defense or that they wont win some games but Holmes isn’t going to be quiet about having to block for Tebow. Willis was beyond frustrated but he didn’t say ANYTHING during the season and he and Demaryius are the only ones who said anything. The rest of the team was quiet as a mouse.

  39. Leiana damron says:

Well … Denver 27. Of course
Steelers … 24 …. That’s a tough one to begin to predict !!!! In my eyes it’s always broncos. ! I can’t wait to see Payton’s playing tonite ! I’ll pray to the football god to give him & team a boost !! Yea.. GO BRONCOS !!!!!!
