To some, a jersey number is irrelevant.
To others — like defensive lineman Jason Hunter, who today switched from No. 52 to No. 90 — it can bring on special powers.
“I feel solid in 90. I’m excited about that,” Hunter said of the number switch. “I feel some juices — I feel the power running through me. So be looking for some big things from 90.”
Hunter said the desire for a more traditional D-line number prompted the switch but one of his teammates was quick to snatch up the now-vacant No. 52.
Linebacker Wesley Woodyard left No. 59 behind and will now wear Hunter’s old uniform number.
“Just a fresh start, that’s all,” Woodyard said. “I always wanted No. 52. I like 52. Besides, one of my favorite linebackers wears 52 — Ray Lewis. But that’s far from why I wanted to change. It’s a new start and I’m ready to get things started this season.”
Woodyard’s decision to grab No. 52 is fine with Hunter, who said he now hopes to receive some credit for the linebacker’s success.
“I’m happy. And I hope that they still think it’s Hunter out there when he’s making plays,” Hunter said. “They can be like ‘Hunter, Hunter’ and give his stats to me.”
“Yeah I plan on getting a lot of stats and running around the field,” Woodyard added with a laugh. “Jason played well in No. 52, hopefully there’s still some good luck in that jersey.”
Below are some pictures from Friday’s practice session.

oooo im first and i dont even know what to say!
PUMP BLUE, BLEED ORANGE!
First post jitters, since 86? That’s ok. I couldn’t think of anything interesting either, so I waited for someone else to break the ice…lol
you both failed to say something interesting.
Here is my take; if changing jersey numbers makes these guys feel the juice…I am stoked for them. These are two players that many of us have had high hopes for and i look forward to them living up to their potential.
I can’t wait for the game. SOOOOOOOOOOO excited.
Im a guy that likes paying attention to numbers too. Others don’t care about it but I believe the number on your back reflets something and if u like your number and feel it fits u like a glove, u just play better. Its a superstition thing and Athletes are hella supersticoius. Glad woodyard is wearing 52, I believe that was Ian Golds number. I expect big things from woodyard, he can’t cover to save his life, but his rookie season in the 4-3 in preseason, the man was ALL over the field making tackles. In the 4-3 he had good sideline to sideline speed and I expect that from him in DJs absence. Cuz DJ is a tackling stud. Thats what he does. Most complete player. Even covers, blitz, everything. Especially back in his new positon. We will miss him. But I look to woodyard to make up the tackles. Luckily they dont have Zach Miller anymore so we dont have to worry about a big threat TE … Kevin Boss is just OK. TRB
And Kevin Boss is most likely out for MNF..
I like #90 for Hunter,and #91 for Ayers,and #92 for Doom,those fit DL better,imo!
#56 & #52 are LB #s,better suited for Irving and Woodyard!!!
Now if we could just get Walton #50,to change to 60s or 70s ,M.Thomas #79 and Bunkley #77 to change to the 90s.
This is what it looks like right now:
#50-Walton
LBs
#51-Mays
#52-Woodyard
#53-Mohamed
#55-DJ
#56-Irving
#57-Haggan
#58-Miller
#47-Derek Domino (IR)
That’s if I’m looking at the right roster list, there are many out there!!!
DLs
#90-Hunter
#91-Ayers
#92-Doom
#94-Warren
#95-Harvey
#96-Unrein
#98-McBean
#99-Vickerson
#77-Bunkley
#79-M.Thomas
You can tell I’m bored, went to the pub for a couple of hours, there were a bunch of D heads there so I left!!!
Well I guess I’m going back out again…..Hey Life is Short, have fun!!!!!!!!
I just can’t wait n see the battle of the trenches in this match it should be a good one.
Ball Room Blitz!!
BFE, I just now got your message on the last blog, hilarious.
You’re right TRB. Ian Gold wore #52 in both of his stints with the Broncos
Did you know…DJ Williams also wore the # for 1 season in 04. And Randy Gradishar put it on in 1974-75!
As for 90. Well. Dan Williams, a #1 draft pick in 93 (11th) overall sported it for the 4 years he was wearing the orange and blue. Coincidentally, he left after the 96 season when a free agent by the name of Neil Smith came to the good side and proudly represented the #90. Ironic too, because Williams signed with KC that year….
This is TRB ‘s material, I will pass since I don’t give a crap about the numbers, heck in my times all WRs were in the eighties, now most of them are in the teens, what’s in a number, nothing, unless it’s retired, i.e. #7.
BFE, you out there bro?
51: Mays/ Bob Swenson
53: Mohamed/ Gradishar
56: Irving/ Wilson
57: Haggan/ Tom Jackson
90: Hunter/ Neil Smith
77: Bunkley/ Tony Jones/ Karl Mecklenburg/ Lyle Alzado
79: Thomas/ Barney Chavous
91: Ayers/ Alfred Williams
94: Warren/ Keith Traylor
98: McBean/ Maa Tanuvasa/ Rickey Hunley
And those number comparaisons were just off BFE’s list, just saying…
As for the MNF game against the haters, WE WILL GIVE THE AXE!!!!
Jason Elam #1

sread the word…you’re cut off dude you’re drunk….LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not to mention the “buckfitty”, but it’s all good it’s the guy’s first post as I can see anyway, the intention was good, however BUCKFIFTY would be better for a running tandem, as if they are gonna get a buck fifty on the ground every game…. Anyhow, good night all and wishing you good Raider beatings in your dreams.
90?? – that’s the average IQ on this blog, I think …
tell me why knowshon is always singin or dancin in these photos lol damn clown. always gotta have one on a team…

Lightweights!!!!
Lmao at BFE!!!
if only Moreno could dance that well around that first defender….
IQ levels, hmmm. I was tested in 8th grade at 127. In HS my Junior Year, 130 and I was stoned. (seriously high as a kite) don’t trust IQ tests much. I may be able to visualize how an octagon would unravel, but it hasn’t seemed to help me much in life…
lol just thought about it, maybe in a book IQ i am 130 but in life, sub 100 no doubt. On these boards I think Forrest Gump has the edge.
So people who have Woodyards old 59 jersey what do they do now?
Players change numbers because they are superstitious and want to play in a mber they have previously had success in, have had an idol play in, or a similar reason. Can’t say that I care much who plays in what number…..
Here is a a couple of numbers that mean a lot more to me: BUF 47 – KC 7… Nice to see buffalo inflicting a loss on a div rival. Colts are getting killed by Texans, nice win for Kubiak, I wouldn’t mind him having a good season as long as it does not involve beating the Broncos…
Whatever the results tonight we all know that the NFL season doesn’t really start until tomorrow night on MNF – I will be getting up very early Tuesday morning (UKtime) to see us beat the raiders.
Enjoy the game everyone and to you guys lucky enough to be at mile high tomorrow, MAKE IT LOUD……
@Jason Hunter: Hey Jason Hunter. I already know that you are going to have a BEASTLY year. How??? Because your character in Madden 12 got 6 sacks in one game. I think you will be able to help make our defense better.
