Nominations Galore

December 2nd, 2008 - 10:26am by Gray Caldwell

It looks like the Broncos have garnered some national attention after knocking the New York Jets off their five-game win streak.

Many of the individual accomplishments of the Broncos are up for awards on NFL.com.

After his first 100-plus yard game — he ran for 129 yards and a touchdown — Peyton Hillis is nominated for two awards. First, the Diet Pepsi Rookie of the Week, battling Joe Flacco, Chris Johnson, Matt Ryan and Steve Slaton. You can vote for the Hillis here. Second, he’s up for the FedEx Ground Player of the Week against the likes of Brian Westbrook and DeAngelo Williams. Click here to vote for Hillis in that category.

Jay Cutler is also being recognized. He is up for the FedEx Air Player of the Week after throwing for 357 yards and two touchdowns. He is up against Donovan McNabb and Tony Romo. Click here to vote for Cutler.

Finally, Head Coach Mike Shanahan is nominated for the Motorola Coach of the Week. After leading his team to a victory over what many considered to be the hottest team in the AFC, he is tied for 16th in NFL history with 153 wins. Vote for Coach Shanahan here.

So go vote for the Broncos to win these awards — and while you’re at it, go ahead and vote for some of your favorite Broncos to head to Hawaii for the Pro Bowl. That would be a nice change of climate from some of the weather we’ve been having here lately.

  2. iSamurai says:

I did too, I just hope the injuries don’t set us back too much. I was scared there seeing Hillis grab his groin. Lay off the caps ddk.

    Obligatory “Go Broncos!”

  3. GT says:

Good job, everyone, especially Jay Cutler, Peyton Hillis, Ryan Clady, Dre Bly, Eddie Royal, Brandon Marshall and Brandon Stokley.

So is Peyton Hillis allright or did he get hurt?

  4. 22hillis says:

I want to see Peyton run the wildcat, I think he would great at it!!

  5. 07elway says:

They all deserve this so much!! I’m so glad they’re getting the recognition they deserve and maybe, just maybe, all the critics will stop underestimating us and our abilities. If we can beat what was an 8-3 Jets team in their house all the while dealing with all sorts of issues… ANYTHING is possible for us. I’m sure they probably surprised themselves a bit after Sunday’s knockout of a game.

I plan on voting for all of them – they deserve to be recognized for what they did on Sunday. I’m still pumped up about it all. I want to relive that one again!!!! – and thanks to NFLN I can. I betcha anything they re-air that game… it was just way too good!!

    GO VOTE Broncos Country…
    GO BRONCOS!!!!!

Hey guyswhat did i tell you 3 months ago about my boy Payton,My ex Razorback, great potential but his best asset is he is humble, unlike Brandon Marshall who is a big disappointment. He is not a team player at this point. He has potential But untill he gets the I out of his vocabulary he will not have the results he is capable of.There is no I in TEAM. Go Payton Go Broncos.

  7. wormyblackburny says:

Big ups to Peyton. After I heard his post game interview, I like the guy even MORE. This guy deserves all the success he is seeing. As much as I would like to have him stay at RB, we can’t continue to use a single-back formation and hope to run the ball against tough defenses in the playoffs. Eventually we are going to have to be able to run the traditional I-form and pound teams in the mouth in the 4th quarter to seal some victories and burn clock.

Everything we did offensively goes against Shanny’s “offensive strategy” of run first, manage clock, and use the run to set up play-action. Not sure if this team is capable of going far without obeying those basic fundamentals that have made Shanny one of the best coaches in the NFL. Teams have proven they can take Marshall out of the game. We used the WR Screen as an effective “running game”, but how long will it be before defenses take that one away from us? We have a LONG way to go before we can think of winning any playoff games this year. But I ain’t bitching, playoff loss is better than NO playoffs! Raider win on Thurs and Broncos win on Sunday=

2008 AFC West Division Champions…….YOURRRRRRR DENVERRRRRR BRONNNNNNNCOS!!!

  9. Detroit Reggie says:

I will vote for all 3, Awesome performance

  10. lynch4prez says:

keep your Marshall bashing comments to yourself our offense would be no where near as effective with him not on the team

  11. 22hillis says:

    I agree lynch4prez! go broncos!!

  12. BRONCOSFAN01 says:

I think they all deserve these awards this week. This team has a good chance in the playoffs. They are really starting to gel as a team. If they can keep their focus, I think they can go far. No set backs against the chiefs. We will make the playoffs this year, and the rest of the league better watch out cause here we come.

    –GO BRONCOS–

  13. imready says:

Hillis is a bulldozer with Fred Flintstone twinkletoes, who thought a big man could be so nimbel? I bet the Jets defense is hurting! B Marshall is growing up before our eyes and makes a great effort to be a responsible citizen and an asset to the community ,support him! Great job by Cutler and The Master Mind, coach Shanny. The rest of the team played pretty damn good too!

  14. BradJamesBroncoFan says:

FINALLLY, we get some recognition from the national media. I am disappointed however that no one is talking about Eddie Royal and Ryan Clady as candidates for the Rookie of the year award. That’s completely unacceptable. In any case, GO BRONCOS!!! Smack those Chiefs around!

  15. leftybigguns says:

Has anyone heard from ‘LetPlummerPlay’? He was on this blog all last season telling everyone how much better Plummer was than Cutler. Personally, I think it’s a bit funny. According to him Plummer was basically a first ballot HOFer and Cutler was cursed to fail because of Jake’s mistreatment from the Broncos.

  16. broncomike83 says:

hands down best preformanc all season long both sides of the Ball. Run defense still needs to patch a few holes. But we should get that fixed before LJ comes to town and gets stuffed. You may have gotten one big game from us chefs bu tdont think its going to happen again. Please end this 3 game losing streak at home. Its home!!!! Dont you wanna win at your HOME!!! ? Lets keep up the momentum the rest of the season and cruise into the playoffs….. Cutler your a BEAST!!!!!!

  17. BroncoCoops says:

I don’t think Hillis is hurt. Just looked like he banged his nuts

  18. D~J~C~#24is#1 says:

I hope we keep Peyton at RB and put Pinnock in at full back. If we need to run the ball out of the I formation.
Any way Peyton you’re a beast. keep that humble aditude and keep bull dozing people and you will go far………………………

Knock the teeth out of those chiefs!!!

    GO BRONCOS!!!!

  19. broncosforlife80 says:

I Hope nobody is bashing marshall but some people have. For you people doing that talking your CRAZY and pretty STUPID! even when he dosent have a big game his presence is still beating up defenses. when they double on him who does that leave with 1 on 1- Royal, scheffler, DG, stokley and that leads to plays and touchdowns and he still throws in something despite being doubled. Hes a big time player for us i hope denver resigns him to a long term deal. So for those talking like that JUST SHUT UP.

GO OUT AND STOMP ON THOSE CHIEFS…REVENGE…8-4!!!!!!

  20. broncosforlife80 says:
