Nike Jerseys On Sale

April 26th, 2012 - 7:08am by Stuart Zaas

While most of Denver was still asleep, Devon Keyes (pictured above) was already waiting in line outside the Broncos Team Store at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.

The new Nike Denver Broncos jerseys went on sale at 6 a.m. and Keyes wanted to make sure he was the first person to get one.

You had to get up pretty early this morning if you wanted that honor, and Keyes did just that. He arrived at the Team Store at 3:45 a.m. — two hours and 15 minutes before the store opened.

“I’m here because I want the first Von Miller jersey,” Keyes said. “It’s bragging rights, mostly.”

Despite already owning two Von Miller jerseys — including an orange one — Keyes wanted to stay official, so with the NFL switching to Nike, he’s doing the same.

Thursday marked the first opportunity for fans to get their hands on the new Peyton Manning Broncos jerseys. Chris Hitchcock arrived at 4 a.m., and after two hours of waiting, he became the first person purchase a Nike Manning jersey.

“There’s just something about being first,” Hitchcock said. “There’s a mystique about it — bragging rights. I can tell all my friends that I’m the first to own the Nike Manning jersey.”

Hitchcock, who is a Broncos season ticket holder, estimates that he already has a dozen Broncos jerseys at home. He said that it was worth waking up early to be the first person to buy a Nike Manning jersey.

“That’s the point, you want to be first,” he said. “There’s something about that that just makes it special.

Scott Franklin, the director of merchandising at the Team Store said that they were expecting several hundred people to come through the store on the first day that the new Nike jerseys were available. He said that the store had about four times as many staff members on hand than usual to accommodate the customers.

Franklin expected the Manning jerseys to be the hot item on the first day of sales.

“That’s the one we’ve been getting calls about ever since he signed,” he said. “The Nike ones are what they want because everybody knows now that we’re going to Nike and going to orange for home games.”

Currently the store is selling Nike men’s replica jerseys of Champ Bailey, Knowshon Moreno, Manning and Miller. They expect to get women’s and youth sizes in later today and authentic Nike jerseys will come in July.

The Team Store and Sports Authority Field will be open until 6 p.m. today before resuming its normal weekday hours of 10 a.m. – 6.p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday. The Broncos Store at Dove Valley is open 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Saturdays. Nike Jerseys will be available at the Dove Valley Store beginning at 10 a.m. today.

good luck to everyone on the draft contest…….good on ya sndvl for putting it all together.

I really wanted to participate but each time I sat down to try and wrap my head around it, I got frustrated and overwhelmed and said F%#k it……..lol So many players, so many names of guys I’ve never heard of…..oh well, maybe next year!

  3. strandoftds says:

    Thanks Sndvl!!

  4. DenverCB says:

Hey Kod, i really just threw names down. I honsetly dont know much about the draft and I just entered for the fun of it. Same with the whole twitter ( guess the names for the draft) thing.

  5. DenverCB says:

And THANKS SNDVL for all your hard work!!!!!!!! much appreciated!!

  6. strandoftds says:

BFE, Royal, TRB, Sndvl, its finally here! Its party time!! Lets get those immediate impact players.

  7. sndvl says:

My mistake Atwater4HOF, I missed typing your name. I’ll blame it on being distracted by my 2 year old….but I do have you on the master list!

  8. killerkod says:

Wouldn’t it be hilarious if the jets traded up and used Tebow to get it? I know it’s not gonna happen but you never know!

  9. Atwater4HOF says:

Oh no apologies needed I was just double checking, thanks again for putting this all together!

I have to work tonight and will miss the 1st round, it stinks not being able to discuss each pick with you guys.

  10. strandoftds says:

TRB, I think that the Browns will draft Trent Richardson with their 4th overall pick. Then we can draft Doug Martin at #25. I`m hoping that Martin is still there when we pick.

  11. sndvl says:

Strand, there are reports that the Bucs are interested in moving up for TR…. Ah the suspense is mounting! Lol

  12. alaskanbronco06 says:

I think the Browns “wanting” TRich is a smokescreen for either taking Tannehill of someone else.

  13. killerkod says:

on the nike website, there’s a limited jersey to become available. Anyone see any leaks as to what it’s going to be like? It’s relatively cheap at $135 for a limited edition.

  14. strandoftds says:

Yeah, this is where the fun begins. HaHa!!

  15. strandoftds says:

So the question is do the Minnesota Vikings want to trade their #3 overall pick or do they just stand pat at their position. I`d trade, its only just a few spots, they`ll get their guy still.

  16. DenverOranges says:

In JUne I think Kod It gives a Brief description at the bottom I think the main 2 differences is that it will have the new Flywire around neck and sewn on numbers

  17. DenverOranges says:

Im waiting for that one too

  19. Broncos LAX says:

Our draft was fun and honestly pretty realistic I think the reaches that won’t happen is Richardson and Reiff falling, and Hill being taken so early. Otherwise everything looks about right.

I still curse TRBs name at night lol I was picking the Broncos and wanted to surprise everyone with Stephen Hill at 25. Damn you TRB LOL

  20. Broncos LAX says:

    http://espn.go.com/blog/afcwest/post/_/id/43078/denver-mock-draft-3

I like the results of this mock but prefer Alfonzo Dennard in the 3rd and Nick Foles with our first 4th round pick and Ryan Miller instead of Levy

  21. alaskanbronco06 says:

Rumors are saying Bruce Irving will be taken towards the end of the first round.
