Broncos offensive lineman Russ Hochstein and quarterback Brady Quinn are among the 66 players who have enrolled in the NFL Business Management and Entrepreneurial Program at Harvard Business School and the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
The program is one of NFL Player Engagement’s initiatives to assist players in preparing for their post-playing careers. Since the program’s inception in 2005, more than 700 players have participated.
“We are excited to continue this program which has been beneficial to so many of our players,” said NFL Vice President of Player Engagement Troy Vincent, who has attended each of the business management programs. “Over the years, the Business Management and Entrepreneurial Program has assisted players — myself included — and their families in making smarter business decisions while inspiring others to go back to school for an MBA.”
The schools will offer executive education activities in their respective areas of expertise. Taught by full-time Harvard Business School faculty members, the customized five-day program at HBS (March 19-23) aims to help participants learn to develop a business idea or plan in such areas as investments, real estate, and retailing.
The Kellogg School program (April 1-5) will focus on entrepreneurship, underscoring the fundamentals of investing and how to create and finance new ventures. Kellogg faculty members will teach classes on topics such as entrepreneurial finance, angel investing, equity versus debt capital, effective negotiating, and marketing in the nanosecond world.
Players complete an application process in order to attend the NFL Business Management and Entrepreneurial Program. Enrollment criteria includes level of education; professional business experience; interest in starting, owning, or managing a business; and leadership and community involvement.

jeez guys………..come on now. stroking his ego? seriously? lol
teams are interested in signing him……….and he’s an FA and has the right to look at all options out there before making a decision. This is about his career and where he feels would be the best fit for him. He doesn’t want to make a rash decision and prob wants to weigh out all the options with his family as well.
Cut the guy some slack……….it’s the teams pursuing him, not the other way around.
Also the Ego knows enough about business to know you got to deal while the dealing is good!
RBF1, exactly what i was talking about … this manning thing could cost us more ways than one. While we wait on an answer that may never come, we woulda missed out on prime defensive upgrades and even some offensive ones. This is such a load. Just ride with TT, its not worth missing out on this FA class. Manning alone will possibly suck up all our FA budget and i have a strong feeling he doesn’t pick us because of weather concerns which is why i believe this will be a lose lose, lose manning, and lose top FAs. Sigh

Well, if Broncos pick up a few top tier players – we’ll know for sure…lol!
Ok – he has earned the right to look at his options! I will grant that, but you know darn well he did not just start thinking about playing somewhere besides Indy after he left last week’s press conference. He is a business man for goodness sakes! He has been considering his options and weighing the possibilities for quite some time.
Yeah Texan, the “Texans” would seem to be the best fit for Manning, but hard to predict what will transpire in the next few days.
Don’t like the idea of not being able to go after who we really want. It would be nice if Manning would accept or decline, so Broncos can move forward.
yes, but until he was officially released, he couldn’t really do much about it. Now, if he lets this thing drag on too long and delays making a decision, then I would agree with you.
I don’t think he wants this whole thing to drag out though and will prob make his decision sooner rather than later.
Manning’s primary interest is to win a superbowl and he’s smart enough to know he narrows his chances of that happening if he consumes a team signing moneys. Also, Denver’s front office has given me little concern that they will not look out for the future of this team and will pursue players that will benefit the future of the Broncos. If they don’t go after players we think may be right for the team , it’s because they believe there is a better course of action. An example of that, if I may purpose a hypothetical example, would be DT P. Soliai from Miami. Some reports evalute him as a guy that can get push up the middle whle others suggest he is a run stopper, hole clogger. Depending how the Broncos evalute him, he may or may not be targeted to sign. We get great pressure from outside and need some push up the middle. If we sign Bunk, we have a run stuffer but still need the push. We may look to the draft for the right guy to get that push in the middle. Just my evaluation of one of many senerios that could take place, not fact. I trust the Broncos front office.
Go Broncos!
RBF1 – Just to clarify – I am from Texas. I was a Texan before there was a team called “Texans”. In my day they were “Oilers”.
imready – point well taken. The FO has been doing a good job. We made it to the playoffs and winning tastes good! I just don’t want us to be distracted from our course.
IMO focus on building a better Defense and let TT do his thing this season, if he doesnt work out then we can look elsewhere but waiting on a maybe from manning while super mario and V jax sign with other teams is only going to hurt us. I say get Mario, Carlos rogers, Atogwe, and Soliai, and trade a 5 or 6 round pick for Bart Scott.
Yes… I remember the Oilers well, Texan. Pastorini, White Shoes Johnson, & Campbell. Some good Teams.. just couldn’t get past the Steelers in playoffs. I figured you’re from Texas with your handle.
I think we all have to remember as well………..just as PM holds the cards on his decision to be a bronco or not…………all the other FAs that everyone wants to badly might not even have Denver on the radar as a possible landing spot. Just cause we want certain guys here doesn’t mean that they’d sign even if an offer was made.
A little less than 6 Hours untill the fun begins
geez, FA doesn’t even start til 5:30pm my time………….WTF?!?!?! LOL
Gotta get through the afternoon before anything actually happens.
Yep, FA doesnt start till 5 my time, I get off work at 5 rush home, turn my laptop on cook some meat pie while hoping that we sign some quality.
RBF1 – I was not really a fan of Houston. I cut my football teeth on Staubach and the “boys”. (Though you had to love White Shoes and Campbell) I quit cheering for Dallas when Staubach retired.
Roger Staubach – great QB. Cowboys were very good back then with Staubach at the helm.
It’s also unrealistic to think we will be able to sign 3-5 of the top 10 free agents. Personally , I doubt that would be good for the team anyhow. The second tier players fit in better and many of them are nearly as talented as the top dogs. They have something to prove. It will be interesting to see if we do target any of the top flight offerings today and who we may talk to that will be in that second tier. It wouldn’t suprise me if we targeted a running back or DB/Safty. Lots of D-line talent in the draft and many times those guys can step in an be effective their first year in the league. We also have some pretty good players on injuried/reserved that will affect this weeks decisions. Lot’s of drama and anticipation starting today! Go Broncos!
Has there been any report of Kuper’s recovery?
Last season reminded me a little of my childhood cheering for Staubach. All those hang on the edge of your seat, never say never moments.
That’s what I love about being a Bronco! We are all heart with a will of iron!
I heard Kuper was on crutches with a boot on his lower leg, and
he’s expected back by training camp.
I dunno about 2 or 3 of the top tier but 1 of them would be good … which ever they decide on … a true impact guy. But we cannot look at anyone because we seriously want him and are willing to pay anything for him. It was even said in DP he might consume the majority of our FA budget if not all (adam shefter just twitted we have 38 million. Lets say 18 is for FA and 20 is for Draft) … either way we cannot move forward because signing mannign might mean wayne, clark and etc as well … so our hands are fully tied. All we can sign right now is probably ony resign our guys that we wanna retain.
And i agree … he may not have been able to talk to teams or visit but he knows who the superbowl contenders are and who he would seriouisly consider playing for and their talent level and etc … i doubt money is a factor … its winnign so shopping is not really wat its about. But i suppose he wants to meet the entire staff of teams and see how he would mesh with them. He has the right. I just don’t like what it means for the broncos. And sure some people might not wanna come to denver. Denver aint the number 1 spot but i would like to know we were at least trying not waiting.
