The NFL announced that Commissioner Roger Goodell’s contract has been extended through the 2018 season.
“It is the only place I have ever wanted to work,” Goodell told the Associated Press. “I am grateful for the contributions and counsel of NFL owners in managing our league, the talented staff that supports us, and the players and coaches that perform their magic on the field. It is truly a team effort. I am eagerly looking ahead to the challenge of building on our momentum and doing all we can to improve our game for the fans and everyone that is part of our league.”
Goodell became the league’s commissioner in 2006, taking over for Paul Tagliabue. This past year, Goodell helped negotiate a new 10-year collective bargaining agreement with the NFLPA. He also oversaw nine-year extensions of the NFL’s broadcast television contracts with NBC, CBS and FOX. Prior to the start of the 2011 season, the league agreed to a $15.2 billion extension that gives ESPN the broadcast rights to Monday Night Football through the 2021 season.
Broncos Owner Pat Bowlen is a member of the league’s compensation committee, which approved the extension.
“I speak on behalf of 32 NFL club owners in saying we are fortunate to have Roger Goodell as our commissioner,” said Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank, who is the chairman of the compensation committee. “Since becoming commissioner in 2006, the NFL — already the leader in professional sports — has gotten even stronger. As evidenced by this contract extension, we have great confidence in Roger’s vision and leadership of the NFL. Our clubs, players and fans could not ask for a better CEO.”

Thanks turtle! I like your Mock. You must have placed a lot of effort coming up with that. Ive tried to refrain from starting my mock because there really is no way to gauge what our needs will be with do much uncertainty. Especially since we are looking for DC-7. I do like Burfict. Crick before his injury was a top 5 pick. Now he could go anywhere from the end of round 1 all the way to round 3. There is plenty to determine between now and draft time. Senior Bowl. Superbowl. Combine. FA….
I wonder what it takes to become a talent scout?
Broncos Country Stong 2012!
well, the 2010 season was great at the beginning………we went 6-0 to start the season after that crazy reception by stokely. I thought wow, this team is going to the playoffs………
Then the wheels fell off and we found out the real team we had here………….and it wasn’t pretty to say the least.
Then I was excited as I thought the next season we might be able to build off the 8-8 finish, only to go a dismal 4-12. But along the way McD was shown the door and I knew that a bunch of change was in order………so that got me excited that we’d be moving in the right direction.
Now this season was as much frustrating as exciting, but to be honest, I am extremely excited about this team they’ll feild next season. With some great drafting and FA pick-ups, we can move a step closer to becoming a contender. We won’t jump there straight away, but there’s nothing wrong with moving in the right direction.
It’s hard to get ahead or even catch up after McD put us miles behind.
2009 season I mean
Royal very well could be a redskin. He is from the DMV (DC. Maryland & Virginia) so he is a Redskins fan origin most likely. I know his Bro is a Redskins fan. Went to school in VT. Im sure he would like to be back home again but I personally want him to be a career Bronco. Just an overall great guy but those things rarely happen so wherever he lands … best of luck to him. TRB
I couldn’t really care less if Royal stays here……….
While he’s a great guy, he hasn’t really done much since his rookie year. I guess cause he had such an awesome rookie year, I had huge expectations of him and quite frankly, he hasn’t come close to living up to them.
I understand that it’s partially due to scheme and the ways he was utilized……….or underutilized with McD. Time to move on I think.
Heck, bring in WR DeJean Jackson, a FA. A great WR and ST, but a risk with his demeanor. He can stretch the field.
No to Jackson he is a chump, does to many really dumb things.
no to jackson a big ‘ME’ TYPE GUY.We need team players, not complainers.
Im not opposed to Jackson but I believe Royal can do anything Jackson can. Its quite simple. We can bring jackso here and he turns out to be just as ineffective here as royal. Its all scheme. Shannys scheme was perfect for Royal. Eagles scheme for Desean. As u can see a similar player like Maclin fit right in. So to put it all on Royal is tough. Just me tho, im a sucker for the underdogs like Royal, Moreno, Ayers, even Rahim, and some other ex broncos who I believe have the ability but haven’t either been utilized well or need more time. But a change of scenery might be the only way to reach thier potential.
TRB
And Royal is not completely useless. Almost every time he had a shot at a PR last year it was either a TD or a big gainer even if it was called back because of dumb penalties. The kid is lightining in a bottle just begging to be opened.

Doesnt seem like Fox is in a very big hurry:”I guess I’d like to have someone in place some time before next season, that’s the deadline,” Fox said with a laugh. “More than likely, we’ll feel good about it when we make a move. But we’ll do what we think would be the best fit, and we’ll keep trying to make the kind of progress we want on that side of the ball.”
“I guess I’d like to have someone in place some time before next season, that’s the deadline,” Fox said with a laugh. I would of thought that hed want someone as soon as possible, kinda feels like, hes, going to go with the linebackers coach to me.
I think Royal stays, I’m not sure why it is even being discussed. He has a lot of potential, plays hard was just not used my McD and thats not his fault and certainly does not mean he can not play. This season was just tough with a new scheme and coaches. I agree he is lightening in a bottle and a great return man. Besides he has said on his facebook page he want to be a Bronco!
I want Royal to stay but the Broncos need an additional WR, a speedy WR to stretch the field.
We got over two months to shoot the breeze about FA and speculate on who`ll we pick up, then on to the draft. I bet we pick up about 3 addition players in FA besides signing our own in house FA`s. Signing Prater and Bunkley are tops in my book.
y would we waste a pick on a rb that is no better then Moreno I say save the 2nd rnd pick for a CB or DT we have to go all D in first 3 rounds this year
It all depends on the positions we fill in FA. Then we can get a true gage in the draft. But it`s fun to talk about. We just might go after RB Polk in the 2nd round perhaps, but shear speculation. Three months to the day today until the draft.
