All my hopes for Finley have been squashed he signed on for two more years in GB. GB my second fav team still has such an explosive offense.

  2. imready says:

Try to remember we have a lot of very young players that had no off season to prepare for the NFL. Some of these guys showed flashes of brilliance. They will all know what’s what’s coming at them this year. How much they improve will give us an idea if we need to look somewhere else for better talent. Brings back bad memories thinking bringing in different talent to replace players that have had no real chance to show thier best stuff. I think we will be concentrating on spots that we know we need better talent like the DT. We’ve got some good there , but we need great big beefy guys that can get some push up the middle and stuff the run. We need at least to high caliber guys to run the ball, I’d rather see three. I hoping for Fanin, he looked good in preseason so we need another to notch back. It wouldn’t suprise me if we went after super Mario either, I expect the Bronco’s to be more aggresive in trying to sign a big name or two. I expect Worthy at 25 , but let’s see what happens in free agancy. Somthing good is going to happen, I can feel it! Go Broncos!

  3. alaskanbronco06 says:

I want to see Mario and Lofton signed. That could add huge upgrade on the D and also open up other possibilities in the draft. If we dont see Williams come to Denver i can see us getting another Pass rusher at 25 since the talent at DT in this draft is so deep. We could see big name DT fall to the second round. We could even get a big BEEF talent guy in the third round with Ta’amu. His size alone demands double teams

  4. OrangeTsunami says:

What’s up my Broncos brothers and sisters?! I’m waaaaay behind over here… Been swamped at work, and gonna try to get caught up with what’s going on here and the combine, but first:

Wft was BQ thinking?! I’m sure it’s been discussed ad nauseum here, but really?? Even if he back tracks his comments, why even put yourself in that situation? The only answer is that he feels that he deserves to be a starter, and he is not content to be a back up… It’ll be interesting to see what we do, but I think the only thing he deserves at this point is his walking papers….

  5. Broncos LAX says:

I love Quinn wanting to start I don’t necessarily agree with his comments but you want that sort of competitior. Now when this story came out you know Skip “Know Nothing” Bayless would have something crazy to say

    http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=7601882
    http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=7602013
    http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=7601395

Bayless continuely puts the Denver Broncos organization down just to back Tebow and sitting across from a knowledgeable Stephen A. Smith he shows his ignorance. Now Skip is fair in other respects I liked his defense of Tebow and his religion and where Quinn stood with his comments and what the writer left out of the article.

Never before have I seen such a debate over a singular figure and many things Smith says make so much sense.

Now I like Tebow and if he is the QB for 10 more years or gone after this season or before the season I will be 100 PERCENT fine with it Because I was a Broncos Fan before Tebow and will be one after.

Now for you conspiracy theorists here is what I see playing out. If Landry Jones and Matt Barkley declare for the draft this year I believe the EFX would not have commited to Tebow. I think fans need to understand the Elway does not believe in Tebow and can’t be blamed for it. I think If Tebow progresses then Elway will be the happiest person in the organization but I still believe that he doesn’t think that will happen because realisticly after making the playoffs with Tebow at the helm it would make sense to fully commit to him as the QB. Bringing in 2 QBs for competition when there is already 2 QBs on the roster and potentially a 3rd in Quinn shows that Elway wants to go in a different direction and I gurantee if the Jags come knocking with their 1st round pick then we have a competition between 4 guys not named Tim Tebow for the starting job.

I am merely trying to be objective and read the actions of the organization thus far. In my opinion Tebow is not with the Broncos in 2013. I 100 Percent want Tebow to succeed IN DENVER I mean we gave up 3 draft picks for him! Just in my honest Opinion I don’t see it happening. I will continue rooting for Tebow and Denver I just feel that the FO which has much more of a say in the matter than anyone of us does not believe in Tebow anywhere near to the level that we do.

Just thinking out lud guys lo don’t want to rile anyone up just stating what I think will happen

  6. royalt19 says:

I also would like to see us sign Lofton. Just look at that LB core:
(DJ-Lofton-Miller) and backups in same order(Woodyard-Mays-Haggan)
That would be a top 3 LB core. Behind only the Steelers and Ravens; and both of those teams are considered some of the best Ds in the league. Also signing DE Avril and FS Landry!! Wow! That could be a great D!!!!! Its just not likely though, lol.

  7. alaskanbronco06 says:

Avril looks more and more to stay with the Lions. Williams is more likely to be a free agent and a better choice. The LB core would be good. Could be great with an Upgrade for DJ.

  8. Broncos LAX says:

Sorry a few mispellings there lol. At 25 one of the best LBs in the league was selected by John Fox in Jon Beason… Do we get version 2.0 in Burficit? Ray Lewis had the same knocks and more than 15 years later he is still one of the best LBs in the league… I like Burficit, Kirkpatrick and Jenkins on D in the draft. DT class is deep they can get 1 2nd round I want an impact playmaker at 25.

    Free Agency =- Simple

    Landry at Safety
    Porter at Corner
Players at RB WR and DB who have potential but have injury issues or need a change of scenery at low demand/cost for comeptition which will improve every position.

  9. Broncos LAX says:

Who upgrades DJ? He was one of the best players on our Defense last year and has been since being drafted playing every position in the 4-3 and 3-4. The guy needs credit he is really good and a leader there aren’t many upgrades from DJ

  10. alaskanbronco06 says:

He hasnt been as good as everyone gives him credit for. He is a complete bust if we are down. He doesnt make the big plays. He isnt clutch. He had a total of 10 tackles when Denver was down in 13 games he played in. We could very well draft an upgrade for him. In the second round. DJ also only had 8 tackles in the red zone. Hes just not as great as everyone says and he isnt a very good leader. On run plays he often misses the obvious hole allowing the opposing RB to get to the secondary. He had 90 total tackles which isnt bad but when he missed more than 15 tackles that downplays the 90.

Carr would be a better choice at CB than Porter. Even Ross is better than Porter in my opinion.

Burfict is a beast yes but he misses a lot of big plays often gets beat by speed. A big hitter but not a sure tackler. Plus he isnt the sharpest tool in the shed and is leaving more fo rthe fact his grades make him uneligable for football next year. He fails in coverage often getting beat easily.

  11. Broncos LAX says:

Carr is an excellent Zone Corner but KC is moving to man and viewed Routt as an upgrade for that. I like Carr but we play man making Porter a better fit and he is only 25 Ross is 29. I have no issue with signing either Carr or Ross. As for DJ how often is he beat? how often does he miss a play? The guy is solid he doesnt play MLB and is no longer expected to make those plays yet still does. Ray Lewis had the same knocks as Burficit its safe to say that he isn’t limited. Burficit can easily follow in his footsteps

  12. BroncoAussie says:

I have heard Del Rio likes a little more zone then Allen did man, it will be interesting to see what they go with that.

And why no love for DJ? He can only do so much with Miller ‘Can’t Cover’ and Mays ‘Can’t tackle’ next to him.

There isn’t a LB out there that would be an upgrade right now in FA or the draft for DJ. He has been the starter with three different head coaches and there is a good reason for it. He is one of the best defense players we have.

He hasn’t played to his potential in recent years, I know. But last year he said he would be more focused and wants to be the best he can. And it shows, he was much better than in previous years and can still get better. He is one of the better Linebackers in the league right now.

  13. BroncoAussie says:

Oh and one thing, Ray Lewis works really really hard. Is a leader, spends loads of time in the flim room and spent years learning the game. Burficit is dumb and plays instinctive. I doubt he puts in the effort Lewis does. There is just no comparison between the two.

  14. Broncos LAX says:

Aussie did I miss the memo on when Mays learned how to cover? Lol well you make a good point on Burficit but his raw talent is outstanding. And I’vealways loved DJ and would never not back him.

  15. alaskanbronco06 says:

He is beat rather often. On obvious run plays, it is up to the three LBs to plug up the holes. Now when i say he misses the obvious hole im not talking when they dont run to his side. There were quit a bit of times when the RB was running to him and he gets run over or side stepped. There was a play against the Chargers i believe where the RB was running to the outside Doom picked up the block leaving DJ free to get the tackle. However DJ overshot the RB path and the back turned up field for a big gain. Thats just one of many examples of how he misses the big play. As for pass coverage he geets beat almost as often as Goodman. Now im not saying he isnt horrible but i am saying we could trade him getting a 2 or 3 round pick while he still is that valuable and could find an upgrade in the draft or FA.

Conner Carolina, Johnson, Baltimore or even Hawthorne from Seattle could eventually be better upgrades for DJ. Not to mention Draft options. Shea McClellin for Bosie state comes to mind. I just think its time to dump a guy who has hit his potential for a good pick.

Burfict could end up like Lewis or he could end up a complete bust and there are better options at LB than him. Brown from UNC for instance.

Carr could learn man to man and with Bailey he has a great mentor and Ross could be a help and add depth at DB.

  16. alaskanbronco06 says:

Aussie, I like DJ i just think hes reached his max and is time to get something for him.

  17. BroncoAussie says:

Haha it should of been Mays ‘Can’t Linebacker’, yes Mays was just as bad as Miller in coverage.

Burficit has raw talent but will he learned to use it correctly? I don’t know why people compare him to Lewis though. Burficit plays overly aggressive. Lewis on the other hand plays hard and tough, when was the last time Lewis was penalised?

Burficit I believe is the type of LB that blows up a hole but it is the wrong assignment. Goes for the big hits rather than wrapping up. For me the better comparison for Burficit would be Nate Webster and we all know how thay ended up.

  18. alaskanbronco06 says:

Burfict is just to much of a risk for a high draft pick if he was a third fourth rounder i wouldnt mind but not at 25.

  19. BroncoAussie says:

DJ is no way near worth a second or third, best we could get is a 4th I am feeling more likely 5th. But no one will want is contract.

Alaskan players are going to miss tackles occasionally, it is apart of the game. Mays missed 21 and Champ missed 8 last season. It happens.

But like you said DJ hasn’t reached his max yet. And he may peak next year or the year after, he is improving and finally wants to improve. I would rather have a peaking DJ then any of the other guys you list or who we could draft with the 2nd or 3rd rounder. There is just no value in trading DJ for not much return.

  20. BroncoAussie says:

Burficit could drop out of the first passed the second and into the third depending on how teams few him. Martez Wilson style.

  21. BroncoAussie says:

    *view

  22. Broncos LAX says:

Commenting on how Lewis was in college… he grew into the player he is today. I like Carr, I like Ross but Porter is young and cheaper than both is my argument plus he plays more man. I prefer Carr honestly but Porter is the better value pick. None of the guys you listed upgrade over DJ. Linebacking cores are a unit just as Defensive backfields. You are only as good as the players alongside you. Thats why the steelers and Ravens have the best LB cores in the NFL. Everyone elevates their play. Champ is great but our D backfield is terrible which is why we couldn’t stop anyone through the air. Same goes for Lbs.. growing pains with Miller and Inability to Lineback as Aussie put it by Mays makes DJ look worse than he was because he can only do so much.

  23. Broncos LAX says:

Aussie better comparison is Justin Houston … Martez Wilson just wasnt very good

  24. alaskanbronco06 says:

Ive just been waiting for him to get to his full potential and he keeps disappointing. As a former LB i know missed tackles are a part of the game. Same with blown coverage. But when at a consistent rate missing tackles allowing the opposing RB to bust off huge gains. Or missing a wide open tackle by over shooting the RBs path thats just a rookie mistake.

  25. BroncoAussie says:

LAX totally agree on DJ, add in the fact that before this year and maybe 2005-2006 DJ hasn’t had a good front 4 in front of him. He now finially has some good defensive players around him.

Carr I think has done more and will cost more than Porter. I just don’t see Porter as a true no 2 for whatever reason.

  26. BroncoAussie says:

Maybe but Houston is an OLB/DE hybrid.

alaskan Champ had more missed tackles then him! Watch him closely next year, hopefully he doesn’t have Mays at MLB, and I think he will continue to improve.

  27. alaskanbronco06 says:

When DJ misses a tackle its his fault not the group. If he could play coverage better or a better pass rusher It would overlook the rest of his game. Like Millers ability to get sacks but lack of ability to cover. The guys I listen are younger, and could eventually lead into a upgrade for DJ who at 29 is getting up there. Young guys can learn easier than older guys.

  28. Broncos LAX says:

Porter made the biggest play you can make at the biggest stage against one of the greatest with his pick 6 on manning to seal it… He is a playmaker and perform and is young, I see him improving in my opinion at least.

  29. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Thx Aussie. Every once in a while the topic of DJ being traded comes us and it boggles my mind. The man has held down our LB position single handedly for years wether it was ILB in the 3-4, MLB in the 4-3 or weak side in the 4-3. His natural position is weakside but he moved around alot with no complaints. He is by far one of the best defenders we have had over the years. To trade him would be ubsurd in my book. For one, the transition is not time. Wait till Von or our MLB is a Vet before we get rid of our only vet LB. That tackles, covers and blitzes. The man is the most versatile we got. Von can only rush the passer and gives up his contain alot and if u are looking for an LB that missed tackles … that would be Mays .. he was down right aweful, especially towards the end of the season. DJ has played with avg support on the DL and in the LB for years since the wilson and ian gold days. Him champ and doom were the only constants for so long. If anythign DJ is UNDER RATED … maybe Over rated amongst Bronco fans but to the NFL … he gets no recognition and he has done alot. We would like to believe some other player would just come in and take the D by storm but its not likely not unless they just specialize in something like rushing like Von Miller. Not to mention he has dealt with a different DC pretty much since he has been here. So maybe in the near future the switch will be neccesary but not now. Sure as heck not with a rookie … superstar rookies are rare, they take years to develop. Thats why id rather we didn’t draft a rookie safety again for example.

    TRB

  30. alaskanbronco06 says:

Well if Lofton and Williams are signed, DJ could get a huge boost of his ability. I just had high expectations for him and he hasnt really impressed me. The fact that Carr will cost more money than Porter is huge but also leads to the fact that Porter is more likely to be resigned.

  31. BroncoAussie says:

But you can teach an old dog new tricks. And at 29 that is the prime of his life, tell McGahee he is too old or Dawkins :P

DJ is a good LB period otherwise he would have been replaced by the new coaches that keep coming into Denver.

  32. 1nOnlyTRB says:

If we were to trade DJ we would be seriously screwed in pass coverage cuz while he aint the best he is the best we got. Even woodyard isnt as good. Ive seen that man get torched more times than I care too. DJ is back to his natural position … i expect good things. Just me tho. Im by no means knocking the critique on DJ … I just don’t agree but im sure the arguement could be made and already has been why it is time to move on. TRB

  33. Broncos LAX says:

Not only that but DJ Has played every position there is to play at LB. $-3 has featured him as the MLB WLB and SLB. 3-4 He featured as the SILB and WILB and played some OLB when Doom missed a year. The guy is finally at his natural position (WLB) although I’m ok with him at MLB and Woodyard starting at WLB with a team commiting to building the defense the right way (from the ground up) or in this case the trenches. During the next few years DJ will be one of the best LBs in the League

  34. Broncos LAX says:

4-3 defense lol sorry. TRB longtime how goes it?

  35. BroncoAussie says:

Thank you TRB another that understands what DJ has been through :)

  36. alaskanbronco06 says:

My issues with DJ is he doesnt excel at any one point of the game he is mediocre or good at all aspects. If he could excel at one point i wouldnt mind him. He is however underrated by NFL fans and overrated by Bronco fans. Mays is younger and still learning the game. Granted a huge upgrade is needed for his position. But one outstanding LB can boost a mediocre LB corp. No LB we have does that.

  37. BroncoAussie says:

DJ wants no piece of MLB he just wants to stay at WLB and become the best LB he can be. And TRB so right, Woodyard is worse in coverage, just ask Dallas Clark.

LAX I am not really a fan of Porter, he has missed a number of games over the years and I don’t like his lack of intercepts as well.

  38. sndvl says:

I imagine DJ will have one of his best seasons with Del Rio coaching our D. DR was a LB himself…

    Broncos Country Strong 2012!

  39. skillz_inc says:

d.j will be a Bronco for life period just my thoughts lol

  40. Broncos LAX says:

DJ makes big plays when it is needed… I think they call that a playmaker? I don’t know how manytimes he has come up with a big sack or forced fumble but he makes a lot of plays which go overshadowed by the likes of Miller and Dumervil. A lot of the time a play DJ makes kept Denver in the game….

  41. BroncoAussie says:

Terrell Davis was never amazing at one thing he was just great at everything :P

Remember the 7 different D-coachs, the changes of schema, the changes of position, the changes of Head coaches, the lack of a front 4 and the lack of LB support. To be honest DJ has done well with what he was given and really never been given the opportunity to succeed.

  42. BroncoAussie says:

DJ has averaged 5 sacks a season over the last few years, you can’t knock that production.

  43. Broncos LAX says:

Aussie I understand the criticism on Porter but look how Champ has helped young guys like Darrent Wilias (RIP) Dominique Foxworth, Karl Paymah… All were pretty solid with Champ and thats getting picked on… I just see Porter having plenty of upside

  44. alaskanbronco06 says:

Everyone knows that it is hard for a LB to keep getting new coaches and a new position. It is very hard. Especially with a short offseason like this past season. IMO if not traded he and Lofton isnt signed DJ should be moved to MLB being much better than Mays even i wont argue that Mays is good in any way. and let Woodyard start at WLB. Even Brown in the draft could cause the Move. The older LB IMO should be the MLB the commander of the corp as my old HC said. I think that was a big issue with our LB corp this year. Ill give DJ another year with the full offseason but its getting close to the time where if he doesnt hit the max he need to be let go.

  45. BroncoAussie says:

DJ like I said doesn’t want to play MLB but he was forced into it with how bad Mays was last season

I believe they have high hopes for Irving and I hope he is the MLB starting next year.

I guess LAX, Champ is Champ, I think we probably draft a corner anyway.

  46. SWBronco says:

alaskan, you’re forgetting about Nate Irving, he was a top linebacker in college and was hurt by the lack of offseason, he could be a fantastic MLB and replace Mays

  47. alaskanbronco06 says:

DJ isnt a playmaker he had one sack while behind by less than 10 points. No FF or FR or INT. 5 sacks are impressive. But when 3 of those five sacks come when either behind by more than 10 points or up isnt so big.

  48. alaskanbronco06 says:

I guess i will have to see what happens with Irving if he can step in at MLB and boost great. I just want a upgrade for Mays.

  49. skillz_inc says:

down ten points all the more reason a playmaker gets a turnover
up bye ten a playmaker smells blood
    i like it ;)

  50. BroncoAussie says:

DJ doesn’t have to be a playmaker but he still makes plays. Remember last year DJ had 5 sacks over only 13 games. He played the start of the season with a huge strap on his arm because he dislocated his elbow, but he still played on. That is a real tropper.
