Coming off a postseason that saw two games decided in overtime, NFL team owners approved on Tuesday an overtime rule change in the playoffs.
Starting in the upcoming 2010 season, overtime in the postseason won’t always be “sudden death.” If a team wins the coin toss and drives down the field for a touchdown, the game is still over. But if the team wins the coin toss and then kicks a field goal, the other team gets the ball with a chance to either tie the game with a field goal or win it with a touchdown.
If the game is tied after both teams have had a posession, play will continue under the normal “sudden death” rules.
The owners voted 28-4 in favor of the proposal at the NFL Annual Meeting in Orlando, Fla. The Broncos were among the 28 teams that approved the rule change.
“We always talk about situational football with (Head) Coach (Josh) McDaniels, and I’m sure he’ll have us prepared however it turns out,” Renaldo Hill said earlier in the day. “There’s always some new wrinkle that they have in the league each year, and we’ll be prepared.”

Phillips only 2 years, 93-94.
Correct
Spring fever, isn’t that when the hormones kick in, I forget, LOL.
Well Baylin I guess Seattle might be getting Marshall, they are trying to talk up a deal.I guess if they do we won’t have anything to argue over, seeing we agree on almost everything else.LOL
Where did you read that?
Wade Phillips was HC only two years. I suspect that Mr. B regretted not signing Shanny instead of Phillips when he had the chance after not renewing Reeves contract.
If you are talking about the DP article, it really doesn’t say much one way or the other…
Hey, thanks to bay, texark, brian, OC and florio for giving something new to read about. I was a bit tired of delusion draft topics.
And now, to that new blog!
Go Broncooos!
DP is where I read it,but I know it’s not very credible right now.

With all due respect, Hillis and Simms were both victoms of the Brady Quinn deal.
McD said he liked both guys and wanted to get them more involved and yada, yada. A few weeks later here comes a deal for a potential starting QB and McD didn’t pass it up. It doesn’t make him a liar for trading and releasing players that he previously thought was going to be part of the team. It just means that he is hopeful and complimentary, in the media, of the players currently on the team but he will trade any player at any time the opportunity is there to improve the team. He made that policy clear when he first got the job.
Did you expect him to pass on the Quinn deal just because a month ago he said he would try to get Hillis or Simms involved more next year?
he said “Orton is the starter”. Would he be a liar if next week he traded Orton for Tom Brady? Or would he be a liar if Quinn was better and won the starting job?
with all due respect Drunkenbronc, I’m not trying to start a rumble. Just trying to reason with you.
k so phillips only had 2 yrs… but we were dismal during that stretch!! and we even had elway at the time! lol so i still think McD should get 3 yrs ……
and ya OC i said basically the same thing last week!
Go Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrroncos
Goodness, I am gone for a few days for training exercises and the whole blog turned into let me bash this blogger…good grief! On a side note, I will pass on beer and hit the crown!
I think the passin’ of the new OT rules is making the NFL soft! There are 3 phases of the game, one of them is Defense! Just bc there are no dominate defenses anymore doesnt mean u should make the game in OT easier in my opinion. U also had 60 mins to win the game in the beginning! Im old school! If u go into OT, STOP THE OTHER TEAM! that simple. Stop making the game, easier and easier! “Offense Wins Games, Defense Wins Championships.”
Hate to see Marshall go but 2 1st round picks is interesting!
My very quick two cents. Hillis was never placed on the trading block. Xanders and McD were not shopping him around. So his comments about using him next year were 100% accurate at that time. They wanted Quinn and found a way to make it work. And to touch on everyone’s favorite topic. Cutler was also not placed on the trading block and was not shopped around until Cutler forced his hand. McD was presented with a chance at acquiring Cassel and went for it. I think McD’s integrity is another issue that is too open to personal interpretation. Like it or not it is his show and this year after winning the Superbowl I doubt there will be quite as much argument.
