I found this rather humorous, so I figured I would share it with this blog. I was perusing the Texans blog sites, and the Texans fans are screaming for Kubes head on the chopping block. So being the Broncos fan that I am, and still having a place in my heart for Kubes, I felt I had to chime up. They are tired of being 8-8 or 9-7, and it is all Kubiak's fault. Of course I pointed out that Kubiak traded for a franchise QB, kept their franchise WR in town, established a running game with Foster, took the heat in drafting Mario Williams over Reggie Bush (who has turned into an overpaid kick returner in NO), and turned that franchise around into something respectable instead of the speed bump of the AFC.

I also chimed in and said, McDaniels is now available, so you can see your Pro Bowl QB, Pro Bowl WR, and Pro Bowl RB be traded away for less than value, and the Texans can go back to being the laughing stock of the NFL, like they were before Kubiak got there.

Now with that being said, for the first time in several weeks, I am actually interested in watching the Broncos this week. I am also very torn about seeing how the rest of this season plays out. Part of me wants to see the Broncos not win another game, and then get a top 5 pick in next year's draft for the next head coach. Then there is a part of me that hopes Studs does very well, and that they at least split the last 4 games, with wins over AZ and Oakland. Whenever I used to watch McDaniels in his press conferences, it always appeared as if he was hiding something, as if he didn't trust his players, his staff, the press, or even the fans. He never seemed to want to look directly at people, and wasn't very straight forward. In the little time I have seen Studs, he seems very open and genuine, and that he is someone the players and the staff can trust. As some of us can attest, it is very difficult to work somewhere, when you can't trust the boss. I wonder if the reason why McDaniels had such a large exodus of coaches this past off season, was because he wouldn't allow them to do the things they felt was in the best interest of the team, and putting the team in the best possible situation to win. I even feel the same way about Wink, and maybe the reason why the defense looks so vanilla all the time, is because he was always getting overridden by McDaniels in game preparations.

I am only going to kick this horse one more time, but McDaniels really screwed up from the beginning of his tenure. When he got hired, the first call he should have made was to Jay Cutler, and say "Hey, I know you're upset that coach Shanahan was fired, but can we sit down and go over my offense and see if it is something you can work with?" He should have been salivating at the offensive weapons he inherited from Shanahan, which were far better than what he had in NE (Brady not included). The only thing he had to do offensively was help Cutler cut down on the mistakes. I won't disagree that he has made Orton a better QB, but imagine what he could have done with Cutler? There is no reason why this team should be in the state of disarray it is in now, if McDaniels would have checked his ego at the door.

I haven't really been involved much with the messageboard but I have a new sense of vigor and hope for the next chapter in Bronco football.

I never really had a good feeling about the hiring of McDaniels. I was excited to see what he could do, and for the most part he stayed true to himself and the offense was clicking right along. Even with the departures of Cutler, Marshall, Scheffler, and Hillis, he somehow managed to field an explosive offense. However, the defense was overlooked after the collapse of last year! The defense was not focused on in the draft as much as we needed and McDaniels made some poor choices personnel-wise. Put that together with the scandals about trading Jay, Brandon's antics, and the videotaping, and it was doomed. I suggested to my dad that He would get 2 years and he would be gone. Unfortunately, he could not handle all that the front office put on his shoulders and it showed. Better luck next time Josh.

Now to the business of a new h.c. How quickly are they going to be looking with the cba not in place and up in the air as to when it will be? I have heard rumors of several names that Denver would like to have in charge. Some are high profile and some are not so much. I do like Gruden and he is the defensive mind that our team needs right now! He absolutely said he would want Tim on his team before the season started. The offense is in place, barring a little tweaking and possibly a few more reliable offensive linemen, so that doesn't need to be changed much and the defense has some pro bowlers on it just on a bad unit overall. Wink could not handle being the defensive coordinator! It was ugly and that position would need to be addressed immediately.

I also have heard rumors of Urban Meyer possibly becoming the new h.c. I am very leary of hiring a head coach from college because college coaches generally do not do well. Here is why this excites me a little...... Urban obviously has the resume. He is a champion and has coached many good players at a high profile program. He has coached Tim Tebow and several other Florida players currently on the Broncos squad. So the transition would be easier. He has coached in the weather in Utah and that program thrived under him as well. Unfortunately, his program would not translate over to the pros because of the heavy option plays. John Fox will more than likely be let go after the season and he is a defensive wizard! He may possibly become the Denver coordinator and bring an attitude and a meanness that Denver has lacked since the Orange Crush!

I do not not know what will happen but the Broncos need to do something and make sure Pat hires someone that has proven himself this time! No more high risk options because fans and players are getting frustrated and they are the ones the players play for.

Hello everyone long time no see! I'm sure you guys thought I jumped ship because McDaniels is gone haha. I went to Missouri for a week for thanksgiving break. Came back and immediatley devoted what time wasn't being spent getting ready for finals to moving (which sucked) and then we haven't had the internet until yesterday. Needless to say I've been trying to catch up on everything but I opted for all the post-Mcd firing stuff.
You're right about one thing, Bay, it is fun to think of all the possibilities. And yes - I was grinning from ear to ear after reading about Elway. That's where it starts. I will stick to my guns and say I wouldn't have fired McD, but I certainly understand Pat doing and I fully apreciate his motivations. He has a legacy of not tolerating losing in Denver and bless him for it. I wish McDaniel's success in his future endeavors and I think he'll winning HC somewhere down the line.
I haven't had to throw in my picks for office personnel, but I won't really focus on that because I won't mention anybody you guys haven't already. You've heard me talk about Gruden before so I'll say this: brilliant football mind + hates the Raiders + loves Tim Tebow = Gruden would do well here in Denver.
In conclusion I can say it's a relief to have the McD debating behind us. I can honestly say it does my heart good to see guys like Bay typing with renewed hope. Of course things aren't going to change overnight, but I have a good feeling about all this.

Much love, my fellow Broncos fans!

Myle Hi... Bay has explained that in a great way. As one of the few McDaniels supporters, I agreed with 90% of it. McDaniels made a lot of people believe that he was the right person for the job. He read straight from the Belichick coaching playbook (literally). McDaniels knew what to say, he just did not know how to execute.

One thing is for sure my friends. And this goes for the haters too. There won't be any cussing and screaming at practice or games on the sidelines. Where did Mc Douchbag get that crap from? I don't know anything about coaching in the NFL, but I don't believe his style is how you get across to players. He may be a good coach in some peoples eyes, but I thought he was way in over his head from the git go. big deal if he worked with Tom Brady and Matt Cassel. He drove Cutler and Marshall out of town, brought in Quinn (wtf?) and blew top picks on Tebow. Maybe he'll turn out who knows. But now our season is in the toilet and we have to deal with it. SO!! if you want to point fingers, point one in Mr. Bowlens direction. I believe he started this whole mess. Ya ok fire Shanny. But Josh Mc Daniels? The guys an I.D.I.O.T. !!!!

Oranges, I don't know about how colleges approach that for sure, but common sense would lend me to believe it's the same thing, it's an ethical thing to do, until the season is over you can not enter into negotiations with a different team than the one you are on and I would think the same applies between College and the NFL. Anything else would shock me.

But let's take the case of Urban Meyer, he has one more Bowl game to play in quite a few weeks from now but he has already informed the school that he will not return, in essence he has already resigned, so could he actually talk to the Broncos now if he wanted to? Maybe someone here knows college rules better than me and cares to answer that... Anyone?
