Nate Jackson to IR; Mustard Re-Signed

November 20th, 2008 - 11:41am by Adam Zinser

Head Coach Mike Shanahan has just announced that Nate Jackson will be placed on injured reserve and that the team has brought back Chad Mustard to fill his place on the roster.

Jackson injured his right hamstring during yesterday’s practice, prompting the move. He had seen action in all 10 games, catching 11 passes for 84 yards and a touchdown.

Mustard rejoins the team after spending the 2008 offseason and training camp in Dove Valley. He was waived before the season but re-signed on October 6, prior to the team’s game against the Jaguars. He played in games against Jacksonville, New England and Miami before he was waived again on November 4.

Come on NATE! EVERY SINGLE YEAR!!!

  3. wormyblackburny says:

Graham needs to step it up in his offensive production seeing as how we can’t manage to keep Schef and Nate healthy. Why so many hamstring injuries the past couple years? The entire training staff needs to go. Perhaps we need to get some disciples of the Phoenix Suns training staff to come and iron things out. What they have done to keep Nash, Hill, and Shaq healthy is drawing the attention of the entire medical community and they are considered by FAR the best training staff in the NBA.

That is horrible, poor Nate just can’t catch a break. Hopefully he will get another shot next year. I hope everyone in Mile High doesn’t take the Raiders too lightly, we need to bring the noise on Sunday and cause some disruption. The Raiders can be dangerous, so if you are at the game, BE LOUD!

  5. broncofan2438 says:

Graham and Sheffler need to step it up big time the rest of the season. They need to stay healthy and become big in the run game.

  6. Dr. Doom says:

As much as I like nate jackson I think we should just give him an injury settlement and release him. He’s a great player and all but Denver needs cap space and Nate just is hurt all the time. Sorry Nate Im a fan of yours but you just need to stay healthy.

I feel bad at the loss of Nate, but all I have to say is I am completely looking forward to us using Mustard in goal line sets much of the same way that we used George Foster, make him an eligible receiver before the play and then throw the little dump to him. No DB, safety or even a linebacker for that matter wants to cover a TE the size of the linemen!
wormyblackburny: Don’t knock on Graham’s offensive production, need you be reminded that he does well when the ball is thrown to him. Remember very vividly against the browns how he was suppose to be tackled but slipped it then ran right through another would be tackler to tip toe the sideline for a TD?! Also what about his vision to sit in the hole against the Dirty Birds and then flank back to Cutler for THE WINNING TD!?
Graham is an offensive weapon, the problem is he is a better run blocker than Sheff or Jackson so we use him primarily for that, so a lot of his offensive production is in helping clean the field for the RB’s. He is a weapon in the passing game, give him the ball and see what he does with it! He isn’t the deep ball threat that Sheff is, but that’s the problem I see with you thinking he isn’t productive on offense. There is more to the game than the deep ball or the long run.
    Hold onto the ball offense
    Maintain your gaps defense
    Keep the faith fans!

Oh yeah, last note……. I BEAT YA AGAIN!!!! :P

Dr. Doom we really have a good ammount of cap space last I checked. Like 27 million this year if I remember right. A big part in that is re negotiating contracts, signing long term deals, AND NOT HAVING A BIG NAME RB! I love not having a big name cocky, hot headed RB that demands more money each year because OUR SYSTEM AND LINEMEN make him seem better than he is. Name 1 RB that did well outside our system other than Clinton Portis!?
Keep the pony system going Shanny, we don’t need a stallion to run with our broncos, just another horse!
But correct me if I’m wrong on the salary cap situation, but I’m pretty sure we are near the league best in terms of available cap room. That can all change pretty quick when we resign Cutler and Marshall, not to mention all the promising young talent we have now. Let’s get some 7 year deals and make back to back to back superbowl wins! That will remove Jay from the shadey shadows of beloved Elway.

what else is new….we have so many injuries….im getting used to hearing about who we lost thorugh the week….it does give us a chance to see someone else, we may have the next Shannon Sharpe or Tony Gonzales on the bench rit now….que no?

  10. brovik_2000 says:

Bummer Nate – sorry to hear!

  11. 47yrBroncosFan says:

Chad is primarily a blocker, but actually has good hands. I’d like to see him game-planned into the passing game.

  12. champ4life24 says:

This really comes as no surprise, we’ve been hit with the injury plague. I’m sorry to hear Nate is done, he was really helping this team out while Tony was out. Although, welcome back to the broncos Chad……..again.

2champ4pickSIX, if i’m not mistaken, we are I think over 30mill under the salary cap. I also agree that not having a big name RB is best for us, seeing as how we can make any RB good. We save money that way.

  13. kage13 says:

Sorry to hear this, but it really come as no surprise.

  14. BronxFan87 says:

Nate Jackson filled in great too for Sheffler, hes more of the recieving TE rather blocking like Graham. Too bad. Heal up and well see u next year.

  15. yrobertson says:

I think that Wesley Woodyard is doing a GREAT JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  16. GO CUTLER says:

SORRY TO HEAR THE NEWS ON NATE HOPE HE GETS HEALED UP GUESS WE CAN PUT HILLIS AT TE WHY NOT HECK HES PLAYED FB AND HALFBACK GIVE IT A SHOT OWE IM JUST KIDDING SHREFF WILL TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS. GO BRONCOS

  17. broncomike83 says:

Our training staff must be from a local high school in Denver. Matter of fact cherry creek high schools training staff prevented us from injuries far better than this years broncos…WTF!!!! STRETCH already……

  18. Gami3it says:

all this IR and constant signing, ill be sad to see people go come next offseason…..its gonna be brutal lol.

  19. 07elway says:

Wow, this is another big blow to us… but come on guys why must you start thinking its the end of the world b/c another player went out. Champ went out almost a month ago and we’ve won 2 games… matter of fact we fought our way to a win in those games. There are way too many half-hearted fans on here… make up your mind – support this TEAM all the way or get outta here. We’ve got bigger fish to fry!!! Like getting our defense to stay strong and deal with what lack of experience we might have on Sunday and hoping and praying our offense doesn’t get any more turnovers. Injuries happen – that’s life!!!! But we are a strong enough, talented enough and smart enough team to get through all this.

Very nice… beating me to this again. I see you’re getting some competitive edge to you… its about time!! ;)

    GO BRONCOS!!!!!!

  20. ramboskithefan says:

i like both but mustard can only block and jackson is only on the team cuz bill walsh said he has skills…..bill walsh was wrong a few times im sure….lets get rid of both these guys….i mean weasly duke sucked but he caught what one ball for one touchdown then we cut him….dang…gotta be better dudes out there.

  21. royalbroncofan1 says:

Last I read about Scheffler, he is not quite 100%. That was evident in last Sunday’s game vs. the Falcons as he had no catches. He did have a couple thrown this way. Nate Jackson did have a good outing the last two games. Sorry to see him go down. Hope Scheff is feeling better. Graham has been doing well when called upon. Like 07elway says… no time to fret. We only have 6 games left and will need a great Team effort to take the division title. Something we haven’t accomplished in a few years.
    GO BRONCOS !!!!!!!

  22. BradJamesBroncoFan says:

Graham has been excellent guys! Who scored the winning touchdown in the ATL, think about it….Anyway, Daniel will do just fine and I think Scheffler will be great as well. Chad Mustard can do whatever he’s called upon to do and I have full confidence in him.
