For the second time in as many weeks, Knowshon Moreno has been nominated for the Diet Pepsi Rookie of the Week Award.
Moreno led the Broncos with 14 carries for 65 yards in Sunday’s 17-10 victory over the Cowboys. He leads all NFL rookies with 249 rushing yards this season.
Vote for Moreno here through this Friday’s 10 a.m. MDT deadline.
Moreno added two catches for 11 yards against Dallas, including a nine-yard touchdown reception. That catch was the first receiving score of his career, and makes him the only rookie in the NFL to post a rushing touchdown and receiving touchdown this season.
Moreno led all NFL rookies in yards per rush (4.6) during Week 4 and was one of four NFL players to not have a rush for negative yardage. He is up against Colts wide receiver Austin Collie, Dolphins cornerback Vontae Davis, Bears wide receiver Johnny Knox and Browns wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi for the award.
So come out and vote here through the Friday deadline.

Congrats Moreno. Next week will be your third week in a row. I think you are going to get a lot more looks this week.
I hope it will be Moreno & Hillis as our 1-2 punch this week. Use Jordan for our short yardage/goaline back.
I don’t mean to sound negative but, can you believe that people still don’t believe the Broncos are for real? I know it has only been four games, but they are coming up with things about how the Cowboys aren’t that good and all this other BS. We all know we have a touch stretch ahead of us, I’m not saying 16-0 but even if we did would they then still say the teams we played weren’t that good. All the reporters are like “Negative Nancies”.
I’m looking forward to this matchup, not so much the throwbacks, but the student beating the teacher. In all respects we kind of look like a younger faster Patiots team. LOL. Bailey will shut Moss down all day.
Go Broncos!!!!!!!!!!
Congrats Moreno you deserve it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Couldn’t agree with you more Brian. It seems they’re making excuses as to why we are beating the teams we’ve beat. And they’re still ranking SD ahead of us in the power polls as well. But that’s fine, I think this team doesn’t mind being disrespected like that because it adds fuel to the fire. I’m sure if we beat the Pats, and I’m not saying we will, but if we do, they’ll say well Brady just doesn’t look comfortable back there yet or the NE defense hasn’t quite found its groove yet, or something along those lines. And before you know it, Elvis will have 20 sacks and Kyle orton will quietly throw for 25 tds and 4 ints, but we’ll still be the team that hasn’t really beat anyone yet. I hope.
Right on Moreno!!!! You are doing awesome. Play tuff, play smart and take care of your body; you will have a long career here with the Broncos.
I am looking forward to the game this weekend. Talk about showdowns. This is the game of the seasons; thus far. This team is playing with Heart! I just hope the offense can see how good they can be and start clicking. I wonder if they are afraid of success or don’t see themselves as winners yet. They seem to be just a step away from being great. The defense sure is nailing the lid on the coffin of each opponent so far. Maybe the offense just needs a leader to step up and get them rolling.
Orange Crush is Back again!!!!!
ps. I have been preaching 10-6 in the off season. and my prediction may be too low now!!!
we could go 16-0 and all the experts would be like well they shouldnt be they should of lost to cinncy they cant help it there to mad there wrong.
Cheers Moreno!! Keep it coming!
Way to go Moreno. You were a great draft pick. Like I always said, even tho we all thought we needed more defensive personnel you must have just been too good to pass up. You proving that. With Bucky down (but not out hopefully) Knowshon should get more carries this coming week and the kid has great vision, burst, balance, agility and toughness. Doubt Hillis will get many carries tho, he is in the doghouse and for good reason. His been a bit disappointing but I still like what he brings to the table
I said that in an old blog… the “experts” will find BS to justify why we’re 4-0 than accept they knew nothing and they were wrong big time. Before each game, they always didn’t see how we could win the game, because we were a mess (because Cutler was traded, of course) and the other team was better… and then, after the game, the other team disappointed and they were not as good as they seemed… and the Broncos??? a zero in the left! No matter what we did or not, it was all about the other team. They win or loose games, like if we just sit and watch them sacking, intercepting, fumbling, pass defending, stopping their rush all by themselves.
If so, we’re so good that we don’t even need to play to get Ws. We’re so great that just with our presence we win games.
Anyway, bring the Pats to meet this new Broncos! It will be a close game, also, but no matter what happens, this Broncos rule!… And I say that because I think “no matter what happens” means Broncos win.
Go Broncooos!
Moreno is turning out to be a great football player. I love his passion for the game and the intensity he brings to the field, you can tell he loves this game. The same goes for Brian Dawkins, I haven’t seen this much excitement from this team since the Super Bowl years. I just wish we could bring the same intensity every game from the stands. We shouldn’t let Cowboys fans buy up all the tickets like that and dillute the atmosphere. Step it up fans.
Congrats to Moreno!!! Now we have to make sure he wins this time!!
Moreno can motor! That’s why he was the first back drafted in the first round. That’s why he will be awarded Rookie of the Year honors. That’s a big reason why the Broncos will go deep into the playoffs this year. He can run; he can catch; he can block. The dude is a player and he will lead Denver’s ground attack and loosen up the defenses so that the receivers can run wild!
I loved picking Moreno from the moment his name was announced in the draft. Remember all that talk about how the Broncos should’ve drafted defensive players. Hahahahah who’s laughin’ now, I tell ya who we are. McDaniels and Nolan knew what we had for going for our D and add Moreno into the mix we have a solid running game, great O-line, quality QB, awesome D, good special teams. We’re headin’ in the right direction.
VOTE MORENO!!!!
go broncos
anybody on????
Look who made sports illustrated.
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/cover/featured/11292/index.htm
I hope it doesnt come back to jinx us. LOL
lol nice daniel graham is a beast….. and a great blcoking tight end
wont bellicheck know wat mcdaniels is gonna do play calling whise???? i wonder how the offense will do against mcdaniels mentor
I think it will be the other way around. This is McD’s team, not Bill. B’s. Im sure there are plenty of signals and audibles that Bilichick has never seen. But, McD should know that team forwards and backwards. He did work there for 10 years.
to all the people who doubted mcdaniels and the broncos before the year because of anything from the qb controversy to the supposed “bad” first pick in the draft, i would like to flash a mediphorical wink and smile to kind of say, “how do you like us now?” you all know who you are…
CHECK THIS OUT! HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!
Where was Roy Williams?
What about Snap Botcher Boy Romo? His head wasnt even in the game…
Romo is getting a lot of criticism for throwing consecutive passes to fourth receiver Sam Hurd against Denver standout cornerback Champ Bailey on third and fourth down to end the game in Sunday’s 17-10 loss. Romo didn’t even know it was fourth down!
Following the final incomplete pass to end the Cowboys hopes, a video caught on KDFW Fox-4 shows Romo seemingly telling his linemen to line back up. He then flashes three fingers to one of the game officials. After hearing the response, Romo screams and walks off field. If true, Romo apparently forgot about the spike to stop the clock on second down. That’s a leader?! Please…
(taken off ESPN Roy Williams topic Blog) priceless!
lol roy cant be a #1 reciever and mcdaniels better be crafty but i have nutin but confidence in the broncos and i dont think that they will need to score more that 17 points to win this game……. wat u think????
I don’t care how many points we score.
All I want is at least 1 more point than the other team.
Daniel Graham is the most underated TE in the game.
ya he is i like the screen pass they have been throwing to him thats a big ol boy that still has his wheels!!!
I met him in person. I swear he was like 9 feet tall!
lol lucky!!! is florios mom really a mom lol???
LOL no. Just the coolest handle known to man.
I picked something unique. So many people come in here ad have such similar names. I wanted to choose something that no one would have.
Well said Florio, as long as we come out with more points could care less. We may not do it in the prettiest fashion especially Orton but we find a way to win and thats all that counts when all is said and done.
Graham is nice. good reciever and even a better blocker. Bmarsh said it best, he said after he caught the pass was about to get tackled by those 4, he saw daniel Graham on the other side and knew that would be the best way to run lol. How about this, with all Champs accomplishment u would think he was older but no….he just turned 31 a few months ago. If he is anything like Dawkins, Champ will be playing for us for at least another 4 years lol
So anyone know anything definitive on Buck’s injury?
I heard low grade ankle sprain. Can’t remember where i heard it tho. :O
Any word on a time frame?
I hear its a high ankle sprain. he was also seen using crutches….If its anything like Simms high ankle sprain he will be out for two weeks (Patriots and San diego) and after San Diego is a bye week so he should be back in time for Ravens game. This mean Knowshon will get virtually all the carries with Jordan Pitching in since Hillis is in the doghouse a bit. But early incdications say he might be able to play as soon as this week. But they probably wont force it if they dont have too. He is like our Felix Jones. Averaging 7.2 yards a carry. bum ankle will slow him down
Good Luck, Knowshon. Just voted for you lat least 30 times to make up for my 2 votes last week. Hopefully u get it. I hear Moreno is real vocal too. Good to hear. He could possibly win offensive rookie of the year with sanchez, stafford, bey, crabtree and all those guys slacking. Do that numebr 27 proud Kno Mo…alot of great Broncos wore it before you
Food for thought,
Hear me out. I think Marshall should be bumped up to starting (#1) reciever now or soon for one simple reason. Sure he has the skills and talent, we know that but because when he was a starter last year, he was being double teamed and still made alot of noise (im guessing cuz he is bigger than his defenders) and gave royal oppourtunities to make plays. Now that Royal is #1 and Marshall is backing up, Royal is not quite suited to take on multiple defenders and still get catches. He is more of a speedy, route running, slot kinda guy. Not a Jump Ball guy that can man handle defenders….Thats Marshalls role. With the switch in positions…we have lost one of our WR as a factor. Thats the only thing that has changed from last year…Royal is still a great receiver and the switch could benefit us more.
Am I the only one that feels this way or has noticed this?
I say Marshall 1, Royal 2, Gaffney 3/4, Stokely 3/4
COME ON ALL BRONCO FANS!!!! IT’S UP TO US TO VOTE MORENO IN, IT’S NOT ENOUGH JUST TO BE UP FOR THE REWARD, WE NEED TO GIVE IT TO HIM BY ALL VOTING AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE!!!!!!
Congradulations to Moreno. I hope he does well the rest of the season.
On another note, Dumervil is tied with Antwan Odom for first in the league in sacks with 8. If Dumervil keeps this up, he might be defensive player of the week, especially since this is his first year in the 3-4 sceme.
I think that the Broncos will continue to dominate and beat the struggling Patriots. I hope that we will be 6-0 going into the bye week. That wjould be such an accomplishment.
RoyalBeast I feel exactly the same. After Sunday’s performance Marshall should be number 1 because Royal isn’t getting free and he isn’t making alot of catches. For EX: idk if Marshall was in on that TD pass to Moreno but when I looked at the replay everybody was covered! So we need to divert attention by putting Marsh back in, plus he can still get free in double coverage.
Great game Sunday now lets get ready for Patriots and for the second week in a row I’ll be watching every minute of if THANK GOD for CBS. But Im pretty confident we can win BUT in order to do so we need to sharpen up and not commit so many penalties early on and establish the run. I think there are many problems with their Defense so i’m hoping we can exploit it. And of course we need to continue to play aggresive defense and Bailey should lock up Moss all day and if he does get free Dawk will be there to hammer him.
LETS GO BRONC’S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yea, what was the deal with the offensive live? Were they out of sync because Ben hamilton was out? What was up with that.
yea if we can beat the patriots and become 6-0 that would be a major accomplishment and i strongly believe that we can do it. We have the guys and we have that winning mentality so lets keep the ball rolling!!!!!!!
I’m also glad that the Chargers game is on Monday night, so everyone can see how we are really good, and how we are better that the Chargers.
Congratulations to Moreno on the nomination !
It was great to see Moreno live this past weekend! Got a kick out of the announcer as he kept calling him “Marino”.
The kid is a gamer!!
First of all, Moreno deserves it. His TD catch was amazing, and I loved how he went head on against the guy between him and the end zone.
Secondly, Adam Schein has eaten his words. I read his column on Fox Sports and he admitted he was wrong about the Broncos. Now we just need to convince everyone else. That may be tough, because if we beat the Patriots people will probably just say it was because they were McDaniels’ old team and he knew how to beat them (I know it’s a stupid excuse, but everyone seems to want to deny that we’re for real), then we have a bye; so it may take 3 or more weeks. Here’s the Fox Sports link:

Finally, a quick fact that Broncos fans may find interesting and encouraging: The past four times (which is every other time) the Broncos have started a season 4-0, they’ve gone to the Super Bowl. Wouldn’t that be something? It would be beyond everything I’d hoped for this season. Tough making excuses then!
While it would be nice to see Moreno named NFL Rookie of the year there’s no way it will happen. First is the fact that he’s being platooned so he’ll be lucky to get to 1,000 yards, second, and most important, is the fact that the East coast press is in love with Sanchez with the Jets. Unless Sanchez becomes horrific, he’s a shoe in whether or not he’ll actually desere it.
Ok guys, I have been waiting to see someone break down this upcoming game against the pats to see if I agree with them but haven’t seen anything yet so I figured I would break down the game and provide an analysis of what I think is going to happen!!
1. We are the 4th best rushing team in the NFL. You have to look at that Buck will most likely be out of the game against the Pats but we have Moreno. Moreno will be able to provide all of the running and I hope they give Hillis redemption and give him some runs as well! Expect to see Moreno’s first 100 yard rushing game this Sunday!
2. I know our offense has been questionable at times, but expect Marshall to be getting A LOT more involved in the game this week. They will work on Orton’s accuracy this week and i think he will complete a lot of passes this week. They will be going up against a pretty weak defense and I think they will do great.
3. We have the BEST defense in the league. The Pats do have a good offense, but remember, this is an offense that barely came but and beat the terrible Bills and that should’ve lost to the Ravens! Lets face it, the Pats should be 1-3 right now. The only team that they really beat was Atlanta.
4. Stopping their run and passing game shouldn’t be a problem. We have stopped Barber, Lewis, Benson, and McFadden, all great runners in the league and Sammy Morris, Fred Taylor, Kevin Faulk do not even compare to those guys! With their passing game, last week they mainly hit Moss and Welker. They hit Ben Watson a couple of times but not too much. We have Bailey that will be on Moss and have Goodman, Hill, or Dawkins to cover Welker. Our defense should definitely provide GREAT coverage against the Pats.
5. The pass rush. Doom is getting sacks now in his last three games. The Pats offensive line have done pretty good but Brady did get sacked last week and fumbled the ball and gave up a touchdown. Doom and the boys should be getting through the line with a bit of ease considering that we tore apart Dallas’s offensive line. I expect around 3-4 sacks this week and seeing Doom have 2.
6. Now the only thing that worries me. You have to ask yourself, do we have the better advantage of having Mcdaniels or do they have the better advantage with having Belichek. Both of these coaches are going to change up a couple things since they know each other really good and know what the other likes to do.
Overall, I think our boys will win 17-14 against the Pats. The Pats have gotten too lucky at beating people and this will be a game that they will not be getting lucky with!
What do all of you think???
brian_schneider : couldnt agree with you more about those everyone thinking that we should have wasted every pick in this years draft on D. Come to think of it I havent even heard that much of an impact on any rookie this year as much as Moreno. BJ Raji bust, Okafor bust, Curry bust, Michael Crabtree bust so far (signed today), Darius Hayward Bay, lol major bust. Moreno is a solid back that will have a bright future with the Broncos if he can stay healthy.
gary bronc : Your right about thank god for CBS, I could not stand listining to Troy Akman and Joe Buck both are the biggest dallas kiss A$$’ and you should have heard them all game, oh Dallas this, Dallas that, until marshall made that Fantastic catch and run the were stunned, both of them didnt even say anything, its sad to see how One sided Fox,ESPN and every analyist else is about the Broncos this year. Yeah we were supposed to suck, everyone thought so, but we dont so GET OVER IT!!!!
We still havent proven anything in anyones mind cause we still havent played anyone supposidly, so lets go out and put the choke hold on the Pats and take care of some business. Go Broncos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
broncosfreak30..
man 5-0 will feel nice!!
great breakdown… a few things tho, i still see moreno splitting time with one of the other backs (hillis or jordan, hopefully hillis) although he will get prob 65% of the carries and i agree he will break 100 yds. what i would really like to see is our backs catching more balls out of the backfield! both knowshon and hillis have GREAT hands and i feel like they could really make some plays in space! my worry is whether or not orton will still be wearing that glove!! i really believe that its affecting (or effecting, never can remember which goes where lol) his accuracy. im behind orton, but i did notice he missed some wide open wide outs last week. and obviously we CAN NOT get that many penalties on offense! those are drive killers!!
our defense should be fine. dumerville will get his 2 sacks, and i think we should be able to finish the day with 3. their o line has been starting to gel! we will however come away with 2 picks against brady! our front 7 will pressure him all day! i say he ends up with 275 yds 2 picks and 1 td. that may be a bit on the lean side but im bein optimistic!! and no, i dont gamble! lol
my final piece is this….. i think our key to winning is to get ahead early! the patriots know how to close a game when they are ahead! so as long as we get ahead early we can lean on our defense and ground game to come away with the win!
so.. my prediction is BRONCOS WIN BY 4. 13 – 17!
GO BRONCOS, LETS SEE SOME MORE AWESOME DEFENSE!
It’s been a while. I’m back now. I see you many have changed there tune. We everyone was crying about Cutler , we need him. I said with the WR we have. They can make anyone look good. Then it was “We don’t need Brandon.” Kick him off the team. Now the tune has changed. I read so many saying this is a rebuilding yr. I said remember the Dolphins. Everyone laughed! Said We are true fan, but we live in reality. Now everyone act like they saw this coming. Everyone act like they we hip since day one. To all the real fans. Most importantly The Horsemen fan club. You know what it is. I’m back! Yeah I messed up the Phillip Rivers website. Would gladly do it again. Let them be on the bandwagon. They got nothing else better to do!
He has been just fantastic, keep up the good work.

I’d like to personally thank the University of Georgia at Athens for sending us so many good players through the years, such as TD, Champ and of course, Knowshon! The Bulldogs are a classy program and it only serves them right that many of their studs become Broncos, the classiest (and soon to be winningest) franchise in the NFL! GO BRONCOS!!! Good job, Moreno, keep up the good work!
