For the second consecutive week, Knowshon Moreno has been voted Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week, the NFL announced on Friday.
Making his first career start in the pros, Moreno was a large contributor in the club’s 20-17 Week 5 overtime win over the New England Patriots — pacing the Broncos with 21 carries for 88 yards and adding four receptions for 36 yards, including a 27-yard screen play that setup the game-tying touchdown.
Voters on NFL.com selected Moreno over four other finalists for the award — Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez, Eagles wide receiver Jeremy Maclin, Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks and Colts wide receiver Austin Collie.

I figure alot of Bronco fans voted and others voted for Moreno on the fact of who we played against, and that the other candidates either lost their game or played a team that is not considered a threat.
I’m really happy for Moreno and I voted for him, but, Kyle Orton should have won FedEx Air player of the week over Manning
Glad Moreno won. Voted for him as well but not as much as last week. Last week voted for him at least 80 times lol. this time maybe 10 lol. Glad he got it well deserved.
Dunno. orton had some tough acts to follow. Hasslebecks 4td game and another 300 yard perfection game for manning. Although they both didnt play 2009 NFL contenders but you know, still very impressive. So was kyle but like I said, tought fedex air competition. Besides he got AFC offensive player of the week. One is good enough I guess lol. I hope Moreno wins offensive rookie of the year. Give the kid more touches lol

Totally agree SaloRB… Orton should have gotten that recognition. Manning is a great QB but as usual Orton is getting over-shadowed. Lucky, he even got nominated for that so I’ll take it. No worries though, Orton will get his time to really shine.

Your comments suggest that Moreno is unworthy of the award. Which leads me to believe your not a real Bronco fan.
You don’t compare his preformance against the other nominees you need to understand the context of the game, and his contribution nothing else.
Moreno’s efforts start to justify his first round selection. His ground and recieveing game were tight. Ok he made a mistkae on the fumble, but if you watch the entire game, this kid picked himself up and carried on like a pro.
There is no doubt Moreno deserved this award.
Im with you 07Elway & SaloRB – Orton continues to be held in a very dim light. This guy may not throw for 300 yards week in week out, at the end of the day if theres a tick in the W column than that supercedes anything else.
What was better about his preformance was his composure in a big game. His 11 play drive with 10 mins on the clock that tied the game and then eventually sending us down field for the winning FG was nothing short of sublime. Defence played a HUGE part in it as well lets no forget.

SaloRB, the thing I like is that it doesn’t affect Orton’s mental state one iota. He is focused on only getting better and helping the team win. McD brought a whole new way of thinking to Denver and Kyle is 100% on board. I love his commitment and his humble responses. He’s a class act. Hey, when you can even get Marshall to buy into it (with the help of R. Smith), McD must be pretty well appreciated and respected by the team, as a whole. GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh, forgot to add. CONGRAT”S MORENO! I was wearing his jersey gameday and rooting him on, all the way. When he fumbled, I was yelling, “It’s okay, Knowshon” Shake it off and pound ‘em some more!” He didn’t disappoint.
I don’t know about you guys, but when I watch Moreno play I never think of him as being a rookie. He pass blocks extremely well,runs with power & commitment and catches the ball well out of the backfield. He was a great choice for our number one pick in the draft and will win the rookie of the year award barring injury. Go Broncos! Go Moreno!
I just want to add in about all the studs around Kyle and Shon … We do need to remember the great work coach shanny did in his last 3 drafts . Great job BRONCOS and coach McD , get 1 more and take a week off . lol

My 8 year old daughter has taken to watching the Broncos with her dad. She asked me the other day, “Have the Broncos ever lost?” LOL

I hear ya imready… Knowshon plays well beyond being a rookie. He makes some mistakes, who doesn’t, but it is hard to believe he is a rookie this year. He’s got so much potential to build on and certainly the talent to be one of the most sought after RBs in future years. Good guy and good football player. If he can stay healthy and if he stays with us, watch out defenses all over the league!! When he is let loose, he runs like a train… nobody can stop him. There’s a reason why he was nicknamed “The Moreno Express.”

The Chargers played a pretty good game against the Steelers but I give the Bolts NO credit! I saw how layed back Pitts defense played after they got up by 28. Our defense would never do that. They are the #1 points allowed defense for a reason. Our offense was outstanding this past week and I predict, definitely, with how slack the Chargers D has been, Knowshon’s first 100 yard rushing game. It will be tough now that Buckhalter is back but he can get it done!
We just have to make sure that we dont let them get their running game going, I do know for certain that they are going to come out with something since they just had their bye week!

While our offense has plenty more to work on to be better, they will do some awesome things on Monday. SD’s defense is no match for our D. I just can’t see our D letting SD put up a bunch of high numbers on any level. Our defense is made up of a bunch of players who are such beasts on the field… making our overall defense a huge monster for other offenses to face. Love it!!! If anything, Flip and his crew should be scared to death to face our new and improved D. Some new players, new D-coordinator, new system, #1 defense overall… yeah, SD should just cover themselves in bubble wrap now cause they will be going up against a D that will show them NO mercy whatsoever. Cannot wait for this game!!

what i thought was really funny was before the patriots game happened, a poll was taken on who people though would do good this season and the broncos were one of those…The poll for the choices were shown on the Map ((like votes for presidents)) and there were alot of different states colored, one major one **think it was pats** but then the only area with our color was Colorado lol. Not a spec of other colors it was just a bright Orange XD No other state had orange in it, i thought that was funny as heck.
For my madden lovers, updated rosters are out and we have been shown a little bit of respect. It will never be as much as i want but ill settle lol. Orton has been improved and so has moreno and now they respect clady with an outstanding 97 overall. Just for my madden lovers…..completely off topic

Just a reminder, most everyone seems to be overlooking the ST’s in their assessment of the game. San Diego is very strong on that side of the ball, we will need our ST to have a HUGE improvement over last week to secure a win for the team. Not trying to rain on anyone’s parade, but the game has three phases and too often people forget the third one. I rest assured however that McD knows where the real danger lies in this game when I heard him saying they were doing double work this week, specially with the ST, because of the extra long week of practice. I think we all agree we will be able to control their running attack, therefore giving us opportunities to put the pressure on Rivers and push him into some turnovers. That should limit his scoring, so what else do we have to worry about them scoring, their ST, done it multiple times before, if we play like last week, very plausible scenario.
So far we have not been able to get the three phases of the game playing well in the same game, the day we do that, I don’t think any team out there can beat us. A lot of people right now are getting too carried away saying we are playing well in every aspect of the game, I disagree. Every game so far has had a wink link, sometimes the ST, sometimes the O, rarely the D.
To be the team a lot of you guys want us to be and to go where all you guys want to go, we will have to have all three phases performing at high standards at the same time and there is no better place to start than Monday night in San Diego. San Diego deserves payback over last year 52 point humiliation, and playing well in all phases is the only way to slap them silly until they hurt just as bad as we did last year.
On the other hand a three point win will do, LOL. But, truly I know our team is selfless and plays as a TEAM every Sunday, so considering it will be played on a Monday, maybe for the first time the WHOLE team can excel at once and go into the bye week forcing everybody in the whole wide world to take notice and making me look like an idiot for saying an 8-8 season would be succesful.
That is my wish for Monday: Play well in the three phases of the game in order to slap them silly and make myself look like an idiot, ahahahah. I’m a big boy, I can take it.

Congratulations broncfalls – Great news.. a third future fan in the Family. Bronco Nation will live on! My girl and boy were raised Broncos fans as well. (They had no choice). They keep us very busy as our daughter is a varsity cheerleader and co-captain of her squad. Everytime we’re at the Bronco Barn, she visits with the Broncos Cheerleaders and they keep telling her she’ll need to try out for the Broncos Cheerleaders squad… we’ll see. My boy just finished up his football season and plays on the 0-line… Center/Guard position. He is a bigger kid than I was in high school. (I played FS, Linebacker & backup 30 back). Our kids love our Team and of course the live games. Once again congrats and best wishes. Enjoy your kids because they do grow up fast.

I love Moreno and think he is a great addition to our team, but you have to admit that he won this second award because the Broncos have the most loyal fans in the NFL. It was really hard for me to overlook what Jeremy Maklin did last week in his first NFL start. I have a feeling the rest of the country didn’t. Bronco fans love thier team and it is showing up in the polls! Keep up the good work Broncos Country! By the way chant this at every game no matter who we play.

I have to say last weeks game had me on the edge of my seat basically the whole game. It was the best game so far this season. Congrats Knowshon you deserve it brotha keep up the good work. I’m really excited about fast Eddie Royal finally breaking loose with 10 receptions that was awesome. I am so impressed with the way our D has shown up this year. We as a team are completely opposite of last years team. Last year we always jumped out to a good start but gave it up in the second half. This year we’re starting out slower but making it count in the second half, only allowing 7 second half points all year. Keep it up guys your doing great.
