Moreno Back In Action

September 1st, 2009 - 1:42pm by Chris Gentilviso

After missing time with an injury, Knowshon Moreno was back on the practice field Tuesday at Dove Valley. Sporting an orange jersey designated for players recovering from injury, Moreno worked with the rest of the running backs in full drills at the onset of the session.

Among those backs was also LaMont Jordan, who returned from injury wearing his regular white No. 32 jersey. More to come at DenverBroncos.com following this afternoon’s practice.

Orange Crusher I too always root for the underdog, which it seems the Broncos always are. I’m not sure if that’s why I love the Broncos or if rooting for the Broncos has made like the underdog. I really hope we can go at least 7-9.

I think McD needs to change his game plan to a run first then throw offense like he did when Brandstater was playing. McD’s pass 8 out of 10 plays strategy is not going to work with a guy like Orton.

  2. baylinorcrush says:

Interesting how so many people are talking about next year’s draft, it’s as if they are a lot of miscontents out there with our current squad. That’s kind of sad. We have less than 2 weeks to our first game and “let’s talk about what we should do next year”?!?!?! Great fan support? think again. I mean talking about Moreno coming back, now that’s a plus. What we will do with next year’s draft before we had a single regular season game played, that’s insanity.

  3. mad_orange_devil_27 says:

TXBRONCOFANATIC – How do you know that hasn’t been McD’s plan all along?

  4. beefdirkus says:

    TXBrocoFanatic:
I think once the regular season hits you will see more running plays. The reason why they were throwing so much in the preseason is because it is tougher for the offense to learn the passing game than the running game. The preseason is a good way for the o line, recievers and QB to get on the same page together and get chemestry. The running game is fairly simple.

  5. Dynamicdave says:

The rumor of a three way trade is bogus. Here is why. AZ gives Boldin to the Chiefs and Lienhart to the Broncos. Marshall goes to AZ. What do the Chiefs give up??? Nothing??? This rumor is false.

  6. TXBRONCOFANATIC says:

WHen Orton is in McD calls screen after screen, which works for a little while but is ineffective unless you can chuck the ball 20 yrds down field every once in a while, which Orton is incapable of doing consistently. For Orton to even have chance to be as good as he was in Chicago we need to play like Chicago played. Run the ball! Take pressure off Orton, he can’t carry the team on his shoulders like Brady or even Cassel.

  7. TXBRONCOFANATIC says:

beefdirkus- You may be right. I hope you’re right.

  8. baylinorcrush says:

I hope it’s false, Leinhart starting over Orton would not be a difference maker.

  9. Dynamicdave says:

baylinorcrush, I agree 100%. There are things I would love to say to those who are looking at next year before they even know what our needs will be (this year hasn’t even started), but I told myself I will try to behave and not rip into people for what I deem to be illogical statements. I’ll play nice. But you and I both know the humor behind some of the things we read. Do as I do, I copy and paste their statements for future fuel when crow is being served.

  10. baylinorcrush says:

Agreed, would love to see more running. Also did last year, and I believed it played a big part in us losing the last three games when Shanahan gave up on the running game. That was the main reason I asked for his head. I mean, how did he manage to forget how he got Elway two rings? Through the running game, stupid. He probably was so enamored with Jay, he was becoming blind to everything else. Hope to see a balanced offense this year.

  11. brian_schneider says:

The only reason of next years draft coming into conversation was due to the Marshall trade rumors. I’m in my own little scenario world trying to figure out what could happen next year for my own happiness. It’s way too early to be worried about next years draft.

To make us feel better, just goes to show what holding out can do for you. Smith from Cincinatti broke his foot in practice after holding out all this time. LOL. Man, that’s funny, should have been working on training. Wonder what’ll happen to Crabtree if he ever ends his holdout…broken hand???LOL

  12. baylinorcrush says:

DDave, I’ll leave the copy and pasting to you. LOL.

  13. broncs55 says:

as long as Crabtree has been holding out, he’ll prolly sign half way through the season and then he’ll end up with a broken spine. I am by no means wishing that on him as I wouldnt wish that on anyone, however the longer the hold out, the more harsh the punishment seems to be.

  14. beefdirkus says:

Is Peter King high- on CNNSI.com he has ranked the divisions. He has KC at 8-8 and the Broncos at 5-11. I do not see that KC is better than the Broncos. They have a possible 1 year wonder QB in Cassel (who may be out 4-6 weeks) with no Tony Gonzalez (sp) to throw to. A bad offensive line, a running back in Larry Johnson who has not done anything in 3 years and a marginal D.
I am not saying the Broncos are going to set the world on fire but they are better than the Chiefs. It should be reversed, broncos at 8-8 (give or take a game) and KC at 5-11

  15. mad_orange_devil_27 says:

All this negative talk. I guess we know who are the real fans. I’m expecting we’ll catch all the band wagoners the next few years.

  16. baylinorcrush says:

beef, agreed with us at 8-8 and KC at 5-11. KC also just fired Chainey, their OC, a week or so before the season… Not a good start for their offense if you ask me.

  17. brian_schneider says:

I’m a band wagon jumper, I jumped on when I was 2 years old. HEHEHE

  18. brian_schneider says:

    sorry for the dbl post.

  19. broncs55 says:

In the respect that we are better than the Chiefs and I believe our records will show that at the end of the year, I agree. What I disagree though is on the record itself.

I believe the Broncos will be AT LEAST 8-8. I think more like 9-7 or 10-6 though.

  20. Dynamicdave says:

mad_orange_devil_27, it was really strange, during the off-season, many of us regulars were blogging and were very positive about the Broncos. When the season was very close to starting, bloggers came out of the woodwork and began the negative bashing. Trying to fill the other bloggers minds with doubts. Some I recognize from the DP (which explains much), and some, from ESPN (which isn’t much better). To me, their opinion is worthless because they are the bashers and smack talkers who are just trying to get a rise out of the rest of us.

  21. TheRoyalBeast says:

All these three way trades and trade rumor this and trade rumor that. Not interested. Call me crazy but Ill say it. I dont think we need anything. Let me rephrase….Anything worth getting, people arent willing to give and to tell u the truth I think we are generally fine. We just got some geling to do so that our movements on the field flow in flawless precision but thats about it.

No one is gonna trade away thier stars….we are the only ones that have really done it thus far this season. Other than that it is usually taboo. We will pick up help from waiver wire but thats about it. Lets watch AZ game, watch the season and talk as we go. Besides I personally dont wanna bring some dude in here who doesnt know playbook and will try to cram it at last minute and wont be ready for week 1. We cannot take anygame lightly this year. We need every game if we want a shot at playoffs. We are such underdogs this year, underdogs are laughing at us.

The Season Is Ours For The Taking
    GO BRONCOS!!!

  22. broncs55 says:

agreed DD – usually, not always but 95% of the time they are bandwagoners, not true fans. There is an occasion where a true fan has something negative to say, not out of despite, just because they see something wrong. However, what they (the true fans) don’t do at times is give constructive criticism, meaning they don’t offer their opinion on what perhaps we could do better (and I’m not saying they should say “Get rid of Orton or Get rid of McD” – that does not help)

  23. baylinorcrush says:

This year, because of the complete top to bottom rebuild, I am not so concerned about our record this year, which is really a first for me in the last 35 seasons.

As long as we play as a TEAM for the entire season, I will be pleased regardless of the record. I am so excited that we are entering an era of no more Divas, and will be just happy if we can keep it that way.

No individual glamour, just plain hard TEAM work with a huge payoff down the line. Just hope McD is given at least three years. No more bigger than the game type of guys who think they are underpaid making millions of dollars. What’s with that????? Totally tired of it and glad McD doesn’t buy into it.

  24. TheRoyalBeast says:

    Lol Broncs55,

Dont you just hate those that just come and say Orton sux, Defense sucks, we need peyton manning and ray lewis. While giving no evidence to suggest why they suck, what they do wrong, where they need to improve…..none of that. Not a full analysis. I have been known to be negative but I try to be non-bias. Keyword being try…im only human….>_>

  25. Orange_Crusher says:

it is being reported on ESPN that the Broncos are carefully monitering the Jets for tampering with Marshall.

  26. Torain ATV fan says:

dd, the rumor is the chiefs give us a first rd pick also

  27. mad_orange_devil_27 says:

I’m probably just angry since it seems that 3/4 of everyone I speak to outside of these blogs has nothing good to say about the new look Denver Broncos, before a single meaningful game has been played. And these people call themselves “Broncos fans”. All lies. They may as well wear black and silver.

Here’s something else I’ve thought about. Isn’t Favre going to the Vikings, just like as if Elway were to go to the Raiders? Just saying.

  28. Orange_Crusher says:

    sorry, I meant “monitoring”.

  29. baylinorcrush says:

DDave, only the real fans will blog in the off-season, the others, well they stay quiet because there is nothing to really bash on. But as soon as a game is played, they’re back out in full force dissecting all the negatives and dishing them out. That’s a given, and I’ m afraid there will be a lot more of them here once the season starts. At least, we know who they are, and I’ ll ignore them, because it’s my way, and you will let them have it, because it’s your way. LOL.

  30. brian_schneider says:

I don’t know about anyone else, but I am excited to watch Brandstater start against AZ. Getting his feet wet early will help him in the long run. I wouldn’t be suprised if he had a good game against AZ.
Shanny had a knack for selecting RBs the same way McDaniels does for selecting QBs. I don’t doubt that Brandstater could become something great.

See, Orton was just practicing his left handed throws for just this occasion. j/k.

  31. Broncosfolife88 says:

DD I agree. Im tired of all these haters. Everyone thinks the Broncos are done before the season has started. They think Orton sucks and havent even seen how he is going to play in the regular season. All this crap about his arm strength is getting old. We have a good team and good system it just needs to be practiced and we will see the benefits of it. It is clear who the real fans on this site are. All the haters out there quit talking your opinion is not needed.

    Go Broncos in 09

  32. Torain ATV fan says:

dont get me wrong im not saying i like or dislike trade. just reporting what is out there. we get leinart and a 1st rounder for marshall.

  33. baylinorcrush says:

So, in the NFL that’s equivalent to 2 first round picks (Leinhart was a 10th pick). For Marshall, no way, all they wanted was a 1st and a 4th and there was no takers. Why would it suddenly change. I say hoggwash..

  34. brian_schneider says:

The Lions went 4-0 in the preseason, and then went 0-16 in the regular season. So for those who are going to judge a team by it’s preseason take that into condsideration. You would like to win the preseason games but preseason isn’t about winning. If it were every team would just play their starters like a regular season game. Preseason is about seeing what you got on your team in game like situations. Also for testing out new plays, systems, players, things like that. So 5-11, 8-8, 9-7, 16-0, who knows, and who gives crap what the reporters say, they are basing that sole opinion on the Cutler trade. They’re still butt-hurt about that.

  35. TheRoyalBeast says:

“The NFL is turning into the WWE with all the sub-plots and drama..”

thats is a true statement if i ever heard one

If Marshall hears possible trade who knows if he will start acting up again. The rumors are gonna do nothing but hurt the Broncos especially if it aint true. Im pretty sure its not true. Marshall will be back wit us this coming sunday, we dont need any posible reasons for drama not to mention what the jets are willing to trade is never said. I dont even think they have anything we want or should I say they are not willign to give up anything we want. AND I DONT WANT DRAFT PICKS

  36. Dynamicdave says:

If it’s true that the Jets are being looked at for tampering, I say that they should be banished to the AFL. (JK) They could be fined and possibly forced to give up a future draft pick. Too bad it wasn’t another AFC West team.

  37. baylinorcrush says:

Pre-season records never tell the tale because of the simple fact that good teams use those games to evaluate their roster and bad teams use them to learn how to win.

It’s just that simple. Period. Good teams usually have poor pre-season records and bad teams have good ones. Anyone who hasn’t figured this out has a lot of football learning to do…

  38. broncs55 says:

DD – can you post the link to the Jets tampering thing? I heard that before but didn’t see the source.

Baylinorcrush: Very true, however great teams usually win a game or two in the preseason. That just shows you the capability of your backups more than anything though!

  39. mad_orange_devil_27 says:

I’m with Schneider. I’m excited to see Brandstater develop. I saw him play throughout his career at Fresno State because I’m also an avid NCAA fan, the guy has plenty of potential. He didn’t have the tools around him like he does with Denver. His arm has zip, he’s tall and athletic, moves well in the pocket, very smart (working on masters degree), he just needs confidence. He’s perfect for McDaniels style of play, that’s why he moved up to draft him.

  40. whitebronco#1 says:

There’s a very thin line between A. “it sucks” and B. “I don’t like it”. But the real meaning is different. A. is a fact (and no one can have enough info until now to say that of a player). B. is a personal opinion (which is respectable and food for these communication spaces).

“The sky is blue” is a fact. And while no one can deny it, it certainly has a lot of “blues” according to the point of view. So is still subjective. It’s hard to put something extremely in black or white, cause there are always grays in between.

Then, please say “I don’t like Orton” or “I think our D…”, because saying “Orton sucks” or “Our D is awful”, is just being ignorant.

The sky is blue, the sunrise and sunset are orange, God lives up there, so… God must be a Bronco Fan!!

    Go Broncooos!

  41. ramboskithefan says:

i heard the cards broncos and chiefs are bout to trade….this sucks so the cards would get bmarsh the chiefs would get Anquan Boldin…what we need him..royal and boldin would be ruthless…and it has denver getting Matt Leinart…wtf wtf wtf….no way…….

wiki- Within his first 2 NFL seasons, Leinart had suffered two season-ending injures within a period of 5 sacks

  42. Dynamicdave says:

Oh, and your silly rant will be removed. Time to grow up and clean up your foulmouth posts.

  43. baylinorcrush says:

I never thought a foul post like that would be allowed here?
I guess it bypassed the system. Too bad.
I never understood how people think they can make a point using foul language like that. End result, they look like fools. They could say the same thing using proper language and their point would be the better for it, whether someone agrees with it or not. Headless, I see your frustration, but you are classless none the less.

  44. Dynamicdave says:

I dropped a message to Kyle about this. It will be removed.

  45. BroncoWildKansan says:

Dang DD, Why you making people mad. You silly rabbit….

  46. Dynamicdave says:

So, how much of AZ starters do you think will play? I say Denver will play their starters for about a quarter? Opinions anyone?

  47. Dynamicdave says:

BroncoWildKansan, dunno’. But when I read an uneducated rant like that, it usually means I got after the right person, ha, ha.

  48. brian_schneider says:

At most a quarter. I wouldn’t be suprised to only see maybe one possesion out of our starters. I think Brandstater will play 3/4 of the game and maybe Martin will get some snaps in the 4th qtr.

  49. BroncoWildKansan says:

DD, I have no idea how many starters will play. I really don’t care how many we play. I would think this is the final test for a lot of guys to make the team. So I would think it is going to be as minimal for both teams as possible.
