Monday marked the first day of training camp for rookies, all three quarterbacks and a few veterans — Kyle Orton, Chris Simms, Ryan Torain and Brandon Marshall were the only vets who participated. Wesley Woodyard and D.J. Williams were scheduled to participate, but didn’t feel well at the time of practice.
Marshall was back with the team for the first time this offseason.
Here are some quick hits from the quick walk-through session:
With only one rookie in the position, linebackers coach Don Martindale and assistant linebackers coach Roman Phifer got in some one-on-one instruction with Lee Robinson. All though it did make for one awkward moment, as other coaches yelled out their position for drills (defensive backs, quarterbacks etc.) , Martindale just yelled, “Linebacker!’
The players sported the team’s 50th anniversary logo on their practice jerseys.
Orton and Marshall spent a couple of minutes off to the side away from drills talking with one another.
At 3:44 p.m. the rain started, and 20 minutes later practice ended as a monsoon took over Dove Valley.

Great to see Marshall back, saw some vid on him, hips looking fine, everythings looking good or maybe I am overly optimistic. Damn I luv this game, been itching for its return. Glad Bmarsh isnt alienating himself and is trying to get some chemistry with orton both on the field and personally from what the blog says and what I have seen on NFL network.

I’m in a arguement with some guys on nfl.com’s blog now and I have this comment typed to post but it keeps saying it contains innapropriate language. I have literally read through it 20 times, not to mention taken out like all caps, and spelled every name right.
I’m to the point where I am blaming not Dukes but the other black guy on there, “can’t remember his name argh” because I called him out on his error in one of his articles saying we didn’t have a 1st round pick next year when we still have the bears! So read through this and tell me what I am doing wrong that won’t let me post this comment!
patriotprideboy being a denver fan I sure hope you are wrong with that, but history says other wise I know! Name one Patriot cordinator that did well after taking a head coaching job?!?!
I think that if the cowboys don’t atleast win one playoff game this season Philips will be out and quite possibly Shannahan will take that job. Also very possible and infact I think it will happen, that Cutler won’t get Chicago into the playoffs and their owner lets Angelo and Smith go and Shannahan will jump at that position. Defense in place, complete football control, and being with Cutler is icing on the cake!
One thing in McDaniels defense though, it really isn’t the way sources makes it seem, they don’t like the Broncos and make it seem like its all down and out here because Cutler is gone, NEWS FOR YA!!! PHILIP RIVERS ISN’T THE ONLY ONE WHO THOUGHT LITTLE OF HIM!
McDaniels has much improved our defense with Ayers, Fields, Goodman, Davis, Dawkins, Hill etc. Special teams will be better too! Our depleted medical staff is also better! While in most people’s eyes we downgraded at qb, Orton isn’t as good as Cutler, but he is smarter! He won’t force the passes Jay did, we won’t have as many turnovers. That’s an improvement that could even it out! Not to mention our backfield is better too with buck, moreno, HILLIS and torain! We’ll just run it and use up the clock making your qb throw as much as Cutler had to last year. That’s the reason he seemed so good, bound to have more completions and TD’s when you throw almost twice as many passes.
Not saying superbowl, not saying AFC championship! Just saying we aren’t down and out like sources think. Orton is better than Cassell, and look what McDaniels did with him! His offense doesn’t need Manning, Brady, or Favre.

Well there he is, good ‘ol #15 really did show up, huh how ’bout that! Great to see he showed and even better he was talking with Orton, hopefully they’ll get a strong connection going between them. So excited to see how this training camp goes. I’m so excited I’m beside myself!! haha

I don’t get it football babe, but oh well I just gave up. Not worth letting them ruin my day when you’re as happy as you are. Was a great day til they had to pull that on me. I just picture that reporter sitting there moderating my posts, laughing is butt off each time he hits the button for “innapropriate language rejection”

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP)—Recalcitrant receiver Brandon Marshall(notes) was an unhappy camper Monday when he reported for the first day of the Denver Broncos’ training camp.
Marshall, who missed all offseason workouts while rehabbing from hip surgery and protesting his contract and his medical treatment from the team, participated in the short afternoon workout. But he made it clear afterward that he remains displeased with his situation.
He said the reason he showed up was to avoid the $15,888 daily fines he could have been assessed otherwise.
Marshall, who has asked for a contract renegotiation and, barring that, a trade, reported to camp along with the quarterbacks, rookies and other players coming off injuries. The first full squad workout is Friday.

Well, aint expect everything to just be swept under the rug. Just glad he chose to be a professional and show up to work. Just cuz he is there doesnt mean he doesnt still think he is worth more and that the medical staff messed up last year. So u know, we as fans shall take any “victories” we can get.
Marsha Marsha Marshall is the last thing I’m worried about. I hope our top two rookies get their contracts worked out so they can get in camp.

Im with you on that Carmelloo…and who knows, Marshall might get his contract after our draft picks are taking care off and his trial doesnt result in a suspension. Im just hyped overall for Bronco football and can’t wait to see the rookies and others in action in preseason, Moreno, smith, mcbeth, woodyard, dawkins, ayers and just everyone man. especially brandstater. if he lives beyond his expectations we might not have to waste a pick on a “franchise” qb anytime soon.

Aloha Everyone, I am glad to see Brandon Marshall in camp, But, I just got done watching the video conference and i noticed some things that Brandon had said that still makes me wonder about his intentions. First of all, My intentions are not to bring anyone down, But, questions still linger in my mind about this guy. Here’s the thing that i question about his intentions – He comments “Hopefully I can get to the playoffs”. Now does he mean I as in with the Denver Broncos or I, As in ME with whichever team i will be on pending a trade. And finally when a reporter asks him, Does that mean your playing somewhere else?, Marshall’s reaction was to look down to his shirt and tug on it a say, It says Denver Broncos on my chest RIGHT NOW. My point is, You can be here and still not be here at the same time. Hopefully i am reding this wrong. C’mon Brandon Marshall, Be here Mind, Body and Soul Please!!!. Mahalo & GOD bless.
Broncoboy6 , I think you read into it just right. I watched when he was on the NFL Network and todays video and took the same feeling away from it as you. He’s trying to find the right words to say and not realizing that his true feelings are slipping out in between the cracks. Athletes don’t realize that a few key words always give them away.
I dunno guys. I just watched the Marshall interview, and I have to say that is probably the most professional I have seen an athlete act. He didn’t take the many opportunities to say “I want to be traded, or I don’t want to be here.” He simply said “I’m a Bronco now, I’m under contract”. We told him “Shut up, do your job and you’ll get your paycheck.” He was smart enough to realize that he isn’t in a position of power to make demands and knows that he will get his chance to “bend us over the barrel” IF he has another great year this year. At least he can opt out and CHOOSE where he goes at the end of the year versus being traded.
My best case scenario: He has a million catches for a gazillion yds and 6000 touchdowns, we give him an a$$load of cash and he continues to be one of the best WR’s in football in the orange and blue for years to come (and gets his off feild issues solved). The good thing for us is that $$$ is a HUGE motivator for him to perform THIS year!
That being said: Pat, PAY THE MAN! Don’t wait till the offseason, you wrap this kid up before the season ends if he does his job out there. I will never forgive this organization if they let B-Marsh walk out of cheapness……

Just saw the Interviews….Talk about AWKWARD. I watched 3 diff interviews and felt I watched one interview about bmarsh. Believe me when I say that I like bmarsh related news especially at a time like this but I felt it was too present in the interviews. How about we try to shock people and not ask them what they are expecting especially since we know they wont tell us. Even when they dont want it to be a distraction, it obviously was one in the interviews. Plus how many ways can u ask the same questions…looking for a slip up…not gonna happen. wasnt even a full trianign camp
Anyway, lets be Frank, Brandons Ideal situation is not in denver and still hopes for a trade. If he doesnt get one, he will go out there and play his heart out and audition for the team he will be with after his contract is done this season He wants more money, has bad relations with coach and owner, his good friend and qb was alienated and driven out, believes the medical team made a costly mistake, some fans memory of his accomplishments are short and they want him out and keep calling him a wife beater. You might say not proffessional but he is human, and his emotions will reflect his actions. If he feels like he has nothing left here he might as well move on. The way the game goes. Dont frett over stuff u can’t control is the way I view things. less bmarsh related interviews please, he showed up, lets move on, if he gets traded sux, if he stays cool.

You are right 07Elway, How about Brandon being in camp!!!! We get a good idea why from the Brandon video where he mentions that they talked alot. Coach McDaniels and Brandon’s agent, Kennard McGuire, spent mucho time, over six calls, on the phone. I really think common sense prevailed and Kennard told Brandon thaat the Broncos are driving the bus, period.
News on Knowshon and Robert is the Crabtree at #10 is asking for top 3 money and if he gets it then everyone will askk for more. You know, if Knowshon and Robert REALLY want to play football then they control what happens and should take the $14 million and $8 million and get to camp.

I can relate to B-Marsh to an extent. I would like to move on to a better more paying job but right now circumstances don’t allow it. Right now, Brandon Marshall and myself both have to prove to our employers what we’re really made of. Keep up the good work, Marshall and ascertain you have a good attitude so all will be well. Things are headed in the right direction and I think Moreno and Ayers will be in camp. GO BRONCOS!!!
I read something in the news paper that im sure will make all of you feel a little more comfortable, as it did for me.
Mcdaniels was interviewd and asked a bunch of questions so ill just put some of them as short as i can…
One of Mcdenvers comments that made me feel good was that he said hes never had a losing season, and doesnt expect one. He says he will not be the stereotypical spread shotgun offense, and refered to a giant bookshelf of plays…He said he will make every defense that faces us study their butts off because it will be like preparing for 6 diff teams in one game.
McDaniels is showing some strong promise, and shes much confidence that the Broncos will shock every one…I feel strongly that he is going to lead us very very far.
He also complemented on simms and orton for how they are coming along, and expect alot of great things from them.
He is kind of reminding me of ReX ryan, just without saying it all to the media heh.
Kyle Orton sounds just like a back-up QB…I hope we can draft Terrel Pryor out of Ohio state in a few years…he is the new version of randall cunningham…GO broncos!! KNOWSHON better hurry up and get in camp b4 he falls to far behind…luckly we have BUCK!!…BUCK played great last year and will flurish in this offense.
I just hope we can continue to improve on defense, and im really excited about the cuts, not so much from our team but the big shuffle of guys from other teams… old vets that might get let go…i hope we can get us a a couple more playmakers…

I remember when you posted to him about that, I posted the link in here and you got as irate as I did.
I really didn’t like that it was said Marshall was only in camp because he didn’t want to pay the 15K a day for not being there. I’m a Utah Jazz Fan and he reminds me of Boozer, just out for the huge paycheck and himself. He is a Flayer, “half player, half fan” (he’s his own #1 Fan) SpaceBalls reference for those movie illiterate…..
Anyway, I’ve been saying all along to trade Boozer, but the more I think about it the more I say keep him around for part of the season, make him play his heart out chasing those teams able to pay huge contracts that he wants so badly UNDER CONTRACT WITH US!!! Then before the trade deadline, when he has raised his stock, send him packing and get more on your investment! I think the same thing with Marshall, make him play out the season, if he really wants out he will get it 1 of 2 ways but not both!!!! He will get it in a trade after raising his value with all his antics he is pulling so we get something in return! Or he will pout and moan while not being traded playing out his current contract and not get the massive contract next season because he didn’t perform this season. That’s what both teams need to do with both prima donnas!

No Brian we can’t get started until Ayers and Knowshon’s deals are done and the two get to camp. Then we can get started for sure. A piece of me really loves what JMAC is doing but there is another piece of me that is really concerned about how the front office is handling negotiations with players on their deals. A lot of unhappy folks in Dove Valley and I don’t like to see that. It’s bad for the team.
Yea am with you broncochick, I can never get a decisive feeling of “JMAC” but u are right there are some unhappy poeple in denver. I have never seen broncos player so unhappy. I dunno if its cuz shanny bent to their every demand (which i highly doubt) or what but our players have always liked to play for us and viewed us as a classy organization. From cutler fiasco to bmarsh fiasco to rookie draft pick problems, I dunno whats going on behinds closed door so I dont wanna point fingers. Im all for change but I hope the organization is remaining classy and a good place to work. moreno and ayers thing probably isnt really a big issue tho….I hope. thats what we thought about cutler and marshall and cutlers didnt end well and bmarsh wants out. sigh, anyway I just wanna watch some football.
I feel that they’re just working around the “red tape” with their contracts. I think that both sides will be happy with the contracts that get presented to our top two picks.
You also have to look at some of the other orginizations. We aren’t the only ones that haven’t inked some of our picks.
What happened to Woodyard? I know he’s been hurt for a while, but what did he do?
Who are all these “unhappy people” at dove valley Broncochick? I know Marshall wants a new contract….so does every high pofile receiver in the NFL. The 1st round picks agents are just waiting for the players ahead of them to get signed. Again this is very typical.

i think brandon will still be in denver next year as long as he plays his heart out, which i think he will since he is essentially auditioning! however, as much as i love watchin him play on sunday, i dont think mcd is going to be very tolerant of an “I” oriented player. this is a team sport, and he knows that well from his New England days! that being said, i think we are going to have much more success this year than people are predicting, and even make a playoff push…. hopefully…. and once brandon sees the success he will settle down! as for our young unsigned rookies, this happens every year to lots all nfl teams. this is not a coaching prob. i think he handled the cutler deal poorly, but that is all done and over with. the rookies will be in camp before preaseason starts! lets give OUR new coach a chance to prove his worth before we start screamin to axe the guy! heres to a great season!

How come every post I make has to await moderation? It never fails! It does not matter what I post, which none of it has been discriminating or derogatory, however it always has to await moderation, every single time I post something…
This does not allow for my posts to be seen by the Bronco community for hours, readers tend to stay up on things but don’t go back generally to see if any posts were awaiting moderation as they get involved in other conversations.
This is quite irritating, I may be leaving this website if I cannot continue to post like the rest of the community. I am a cousin of a Bronco player turned Bronco coach and would never say anything to jeopardize my integrity or the integrity of my family. What steps can we take to correct this issue?

If you read my whole post, U would know I said that, I am not pointing fingers. Not at McD, cutler or Bmarsh cuz like u me and everyone else, we will never know what truly happened. The multiple phone calls to Cutler might be BS might be true. I will never know. So i am not picking one player over an organization. If u had read my previous post where i was ranting (second paragraph) I said, “Brandons ideal place right now aint with us, if he goes, it sux, if he stays good and interviewers need to stop bombarding bmarsh questions to every bronco.” All i was saying is I havent seen completely unhappy people like bronco chick said in dove valley in a long time. and i stated that i doubt that the rookie thing that broncochick brought up was a big deal. But we have chucked many things in this offseason to not a big deal and they have ended badly. I stayed hopeful through the post and i am true and blue. Just hoping we keeping our class is all. And never said McD controlled bmarsh contract but they relationship isnt good and yes xander is part of this general change. heres a quote from my post ” Im all for change but I hope the organization is remaining classy and a good place to work.” so i do know my facts but u are free to check yours.
