Von Miller received another honor on Wednesday, adding to the recognition he’s received following his 11.5 sack-season in 2011.
Former NFL scout and current NFL.com analyst Daniel Jeremiah published his list of the top 10 players under the age of 25 today and included Miller, who is 23 years old.
“Miller didn’t waste any time making his presence felt on the Broncos defense,” Jeremiah wrote. “He posted 10.5 sacks in their first 11 games before suffering a broken right thumb. He finished his rookie season with 11.5 sacks and was honored as the Defensive Rookie of the Year. He is a very versatile defender. He excels as a pass rusher because of his suddenness off the ball and his ability to bend around the edge. He is also athletic enough to drop in zones or run with tight ends down the seam.”
The rest of the list, which does not include rookies who have yet to play in the NFL can be found below (in alphabetical order):
LB NaVorro Bowman, San Francisco
WR A.J. Green, Cincinnati
TE Rob Gronkowski, New England
RB LeSean McCoy, Philadelphia
QB Cam Newton, Carolina
DE Jason Pierre-Paul, New York Giants
C Maurkice Pouncey, Pittsburgh
DE Aldon Smith, San Francisco
QB Matthew Stafford, Detroit
Last Thursday, CBSSports.com Senior NFL Columnist Pete Prisco identified players he thinks are due for a breakout season in 2012. At the top of that list, he placed wide receiver Demaryius Thomas. Also included was tackle Orlando Franklin.
“Why not,” Prisco wrote. “Thomas has all the tools. He’s big. He’s fast. He’s strong. … With (Peyton) Manning, in a much more receiver-friendly offense, expect to see the end-of-year numbers for Thomas all season long in 2012. Aside from the addition of Manning, Thomas is healthy for the first time in his Denver career.”
Prisco also expects a big season from Franklin, who was one of just three offensive linemen on the list.
“He was good as a run blocker in Denver’s run-oriented offense,” Prisco wrote. “But I think he will be just as good in pass protection with the move to a more pass-friendly scheme.”
Another mystery Bronco is set to receive an award tonight as NFL Network unveils another 10 players from its top 100 list. The network has given the hint that it’ll be a defensive player that wasn’t on the list a year ago, so it’s possible that Miller picks up some more recognition tonight – or maybe Elvis Dumervil will join the club?

Heres a RB we can go get! LOL
I hear ya OT…………..the smart ones had a plan before football and got a degree in that field before ever stepping on a football field and had that to fall back on once they were done. But for some, football was really all they had. And it’s not as easy to transition into broadcasting as some may think. Just think of the guys who played back in the 60′s and 70′s for peanuts compared to todays salaries………..They all def needed a plan after playing. It must rot them to some degree to see how salaries have escalated so much in the last 20 years.
Haha AB.. I do wonder if we’ll sign another RB, perhaps we’re taking a ‘wait and see’ approach to see how our guys get through OTA’s and training camp. I really hope Fannin can step up in a big way this year, and if we suffer any injuries early, I wouldn’t mind see us signing Cedric Benson.. I’m sure that will get some comments…
aren’t running backs taken from the stable and sent to the glue factory at age 35? lmao
OT I think we are waiting till June 1st because those signings dont become part of the compensatory pick system.
Till after June 1st for any signings.
I would prefer Benson to Green. Was just saying that as a joke about him since we have target some older players this offseason.
Is this really how pathetic the media has gotten? I mean is this really news worthy at all? Wait hes a Jet, the Jets have Tebow so of course the media is going to talk about this. Somehow Tebow haters will blame Tebow for this being news worthy…..Sad but true….Stupid but true….

Good call on the 06/01 date, AB. I knew you were j/k about Green. Lol.
Gotta run guys, be back later to raise hell….
Rod Smith is the 23 member of the ring of fame. Pat Bowlen just announced it. Congrats Rod.

A tribute to Rod Smiths career! Very deserving of the ring of fame.
Ed Reed is NOT 100% committed to playing this season. Interesting. I wonder how unsure he is.
no suggs, no ed reed and an older ray lewis………..we just might have a chance in balitmore this year! haha
and why do we always seem to play in baltimore……..they should come to denver for a change……….see how those old guys suck wind in the altitude!
Kod dont get your hopes up. Its May. Part of it is that he wants a new deal also.
even without ed reed we’ll still have a hard time playing in baltimore……haha
Kod I do wonder that also. Baltimore has come to Denver 4 times while Denvers gone to Baltimore 5. Only twice since 2000 has Baltimore came to Denver.
Ed Reed has said stuff about retiring before. Now he wants a new deal. His current one is up after this year and he wants more money and more 3-6 more years according to reports of people close to Reed.
Vilma is suing Comish Goodell for defamation. The lawsuit was filed in Louisiana today.
wow vilma suing goodell? he is really pissed about the suspension and keeps saying that he didnt do what goodell said he did and goodell never provided proof. that is actually kinda messed up if true. goodell cant just use him as an ‘example’ without solid proof. and a year? better have alot of proof imo. as far as the ravens? i’m not skeered, bring em on, let manning tear that old d to shreds!!!
love to hear about rod smith. so deserving of that.
