McGahee Returns to Practice

December 9th, 2011 - 10:52am by Gray Caldwell

After sitting out the past two days of practice with a knee injury, Willis McGahee returned to the field Friday, working with his teammates during the portion of practice available for viewing.

In addition, six of the remaining seven players on the injury report were also on the field — David Bruton, Ryan Clady, Von MIller, Quinton Carter, Jeremiah Johnson and Mitch Unrein. Eddie Royal was the only player missing from practice, as he did not participate for the third straight day as he recovers from a concussion suffered against the Vikings.

Earlier this week, McGahee was asked if he will play against the Bears at Sports Authority Field at Mile High this Sunday.

“Yeah, why not?” he smiled.

“Are you going to be there?” he asked the reporter. “I’ll be there.”

Check back for the full injury report and photos from Friday’s practice this afternoon.

    Good to hear.

  2. strandoftds says:

    McGahee`s the man.

  3. strandoftds says:

And it looks as if Clady will play.

  4. strandoftds says:

As a whole if Eddie Royal is the only player nout for this game, then we are a pretty healthy team going into December, and thats a good thing.

  5. baylinorcrush says:

Just because the other guys were also on the practice field doesn’t mean they’ll all play, just saying, we’ll have to wait for the final injury report like the article says.

  6. strandoftds says:

I hear you. If a player doesn`t finish a practice due to complications then ya. we`ll find out later. I`m not too concerned, Chicago is in a worse delima than we are.

hi all………..ive got a feeling hani is going to be a hurting unit..von has had a little extra time to get his motor tuned, and will be itching to hit someone..if i was hani, i would suddenly get the flu..lol

  8. royalbroncofan1 says:

Royal will probably need to sit this one out. That’s ok as Willis has been doing good. Also Cosby was quicker to the wedge on ST last Sunday.

  9. strandoftds says:

This game is going to be telling on how Tim Tebow does for the rest of the year. The Bears defense is a good one.

  10. royalbroncofan1 says:

Well maybe not a wedge anymore but Cosby did manage to get upfield…lol.

  11. strandoftds says:

I`d like to see Tebow torch the defense with another sound passing game.

  12. strandoftds says:

yeah, no more wedges, unless you want to get flagged. Not!

  13. royalbroncofan1 says:

Good point strand… those Bears are tough. Like bay mentioned, look for Peppers to play spoiler to his old HC.

  14. brian_schneider says:

    Most definitely strandoftds..most definitely!

  15. brian_schneider says:

I’m sure we’ll be using McGahee and/or Larsen chipping Peppers to help Clady or Clark.

    Chicago Bears Defense:

    Overall Ranking – 20th
    Rushing – 8th
    Passing – 28th

Unless McCoy and Fox hold him back, I am expecting to see a good air show out of Tebow this week. I have a feeling that he and the receivers are getting really tuned in to each other and the 66% we saw last week was just a small taste of things coming.

  18. armadillo_orton says:

Glad to see Willis back.. Please get us another 100..

Yo Fox, I hope you received your man card that I sent you in the mail. Please man up and let Tebow throw the ball in the first half. Coaching scared is no way to do your job. Breath deep, and relax.. Tebow will not throw a pick.. Your more likely to see an RB fumble. Are you going to stop running to avoid the fumble? ok… Then stop being afraid to pass the ball. More screens, slants, and short middle routes please. Throw short middle to Decker and let him run. And stop acting like the reason you’re not throwing is because of Tebow. Anyone who has followed you career know you hated slingly the rock in Carolina. I get it. Just do me a favor and remind the media that you hate the passing game.

  19. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Dont u guys see whats happening … Willis knocked out royal on purpose so tha he could take his spot in the WR line up… Decker better watch is back LOL … just jokes

But wills is always running into into people … remember when Willis McGahee hit that hole and was ready to break a big run then SMACK right into Matt Willis lol … when it comes to blocking … sometiems he is just in the wrong place at the wrong time … but can’t fault him for his hussle. TRB

    YO ELWAY & XANDERS:

Please go hard after Green Bay’s QB coach Tom Clements.

    http://www.packers.com/team/coaches/tom-clements/bb67e02f-a2b1-4543-83af-00f437249c9f

He is the NFL’s best keep secret. He led Brett Favre to improvement his last two years there, and you can see the results w/Rodgers. I love this guy. We need to throw the bank at this guy. He would take us and Tebow to the show.

Just remember that you heard from me first!

  21. royalbroncofan1 says:

    @ TRB – lol!!

  22. royalbroncofan1 says:

Didn’t Tom Clements play in the NFL or was it the CFL?

  23. armadillo_orton says:

CFL and he won a couple of Grey Cups.

  24. royalbroncofan1 says:

    Chicago Bears Offense:

Thx armadillo… remember the name from years back.

Jim Trotter has Tebow ranked #5 overall right now. Hey Jim could you do me a favor and give Elway a call please. Thanks

  27. armadillo_orton says:

Christmas has got me in the wishing mood. I think I’ll start dropping Tom Clements name here at least twice a week and hope for a miracle.

Tebow 2011 Stats of the week:

Tebow has had 3 games of a passer rating of over 100.00 ( 101.7 San Diego, 102.6 KC, and 149.3 Vikings ). He has had 3 games with over 90.00 ( 91.7 Miami, 98.1 Oakland, and 95.4 San Diego ). He has had only 2 bad games of 56.8 ( Detriot ). and 61.3 ( Jets ).
So 8 games and he has 6 starts 90 or better. Sounds pretty darn good for a QB with only 10 starts under his belt. I hope you are looking at this Mr. Elway.

  29. fan_since_63 says:

Kerry Byrne at Sports Illustrated did an article on the “passer rating” and it’s just that… passing only. So they developed their own expanding on ESPN’s QBR. it’s much better as it takes into account rushing quarter backs. Check it out.. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writers/kerry_byrne/11/29/tim.tebow/index.html

  31. daddybronc says:

I was inspired by Big Ben in the game last night. Generally I think of BRoth. as being a low character sort. I’m not saying my opinion has fully changed. But…

Picture the painting of George Washington. He is in the bow of a row boat standing straight, tall. The wind is in his face. Ice is all around the boat. His men are all hunkered down from the wind. They are weak, freezing, and wanting to quit. The painting was created from the journals of men who were inspired by GW, and who lived to win the battle.

Picture Thomas Jackson. I should recite the “Stonewall” story. I won’t, but think on it anyway. (This post concerns leadership, not the rights and wrongs of old wars.)

Big Ben – “I had to be there for my guys.” Amazing – Big Ben?

Yep, we know Ben is tough. We know he has a high tolerance for pain. Low character guys withstand and overcome in order to establish their own legacy. Many low- character leaders are willing martyrs for the cause of their own glory and legacy, but most crumble when they have to remain standing in the face of extended pain, and potential failure. It’s as different as a QB covered up in fetal position, and a QB who stands in the pocket and takes the hit without protecting himself in order to get the ball down-field. Not judging because I have no real inside info – but it’s as different as what Cutler did to the Bears in the playoffs last year, and what we saw Big Ben do last night in a game they could afford to lose.

I likely differ from most of you who are just sports fans. I see sports as a cultural phenomenon that defines for the masses what we value from humanity. Therefore, I believe players are LEADERS in society – and it makes a difference where they LEAD.

Has Big Ben experienced some sort of epiphany? (Definition: a sudden, intuitive perception of or insight into the reality or essential meaning of something, usually initiated by some simple, homely, or commonplace occurrence or experience.) When Ben came out of college I heard that he had been raised in a ‘Christian’ home, and that he was a good kid, but… then we saw him publicly disgrace himself and the Steelers repetitively. What is going on with this guy? There is not a lot of talk going around but here is what I have observed: Ben makes a public apology and appears genuinely contrite. Ben gets married in a private ceremony (and at least for now he has quit publicly chasing skirt.) Ben has begun using the same symbolic gesture that Tebow uses, as he transfers glory from himself to God. Interesting! Meaningful???? I think that Ben knows that nobody wants to hear him talk, (on this subject) it just requires real change and real action. An epiphany?

When I saw B. Ben get back on the field and play yesterday, even throwing a TD pass. I was inspired! His statements this morning say that it was his intent to inspire his guys. (Hindsight: they would have won anyway. He risked their playoff run.) In years gone by we have lots of leaders who took huge personal risks in order to inspire and lead men. George Washington on the bow of a boat, for instance. Thomas Jackson, with bullets flying around him, for instance. A football game is no where near the significance of battles being fought on homeland soil, but Big Ben R. is a leader of significant caliber – at least last night.

Too romanticized for some of you?

I still look forward to Tebow doing the Tebust all over Big Ben and the Steelers in the first game of the playoffs!!! LOL

Elway has been seen in the Indy airport. I hope its to scout college players and not none of this Peyton to the Broncos nonsense. Only time will tell.

  33. strandoftds says:

Daddy, that is beautiful man, you made me shed a tear bro.

  34. ddk002 says:

btw armadillo it’s mccoy calling the plays not fox…and i wouldnt call running the ball down the opponents throats all game and winning 5 in a row coaching scared. I love watching our team wear down defenses and punishing them till they can hardly stand. Who cares about passing? go watch mcdaniels call plays for the rams and see how thats working out.

  35. ddk002 says:

    broncos 27-13

  36. whackmac says:

Daddy, you don’t differ from me in that symbolic respect. Those virtues you attribute to Ben are pretty much aced by Tebow already.
