McDaniels Comments on Clady

April 28th, 2010 - 5:15pm by Gray Caldwell

NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora is reporting that Ryan Clady has undergone knee surgery, and will be out for three-to-four months.

“It’s an unfortunate situation with Ryan, but we’re hopeful that everything will be OK for the season,” Head Coach Josh McDaniels told NFL Network.

He said that although the situation “is not ideal,” it could benefit some of the other players on the roster, as they could see increased playing time in upcoming minicamps.

OC wants Tebow to start, that’s a no brainer, and UK wants to trade Orton and they are now both gone, so we can’t even argue with them, bummer, LOL.

  2. BeastFromEast92 says:

Orton would be a great backup,if he would take it.

  3. BeastFromEast92 says:

    HUGE BUMMER….LMAO

  4. baylinorcrush says:

Starting Tebow would be like the worse possible thing McD could do to the kid, everyone knows he is the college QB furthest away from being NFL ready, even so he has more upside for the future than all the others, not a chance in hell McD takes a shot at ruining all that by starting him this season. Just my opinion.

  5. baylinorcrush says:

I guess I’m arguing with myself instead, LOL.

  6. brian_schneider says:

Everyone is saying McD’s success or failure is tied to Tebow. If that’s indeed the case, then McD will take it nice and slow to make sure he doesn’t #$%@ it up.

  7. Orange_Crusher says:

Like shanny with Cutler, I just get this feeling that McD will be really anxious to get the corvette (T-Bird) out of the garage and drive it.

I think it will only take one bad game from Ort or Quinn and McD will pull the trigger on the Tebone… McD is way too young to have that kind of paitence with Orton..lol

Remember last year when Josh was yelling at Orton for screwing up and Coach was telling him “I don’t want to hear My Bad anymore, just do your *&$%#$% job!”… As soon as we get to that point again this year…. In comes SuperTebow to save the day..lol

  8. baylinorcrush says:

OC, at that point Quinn comes in, not Tebow, sorry.

  9. brian_schneider says:

Yeah, but last season you think McD would’ve used Brandstater after seeing how awful Simms was.

  10. BeastFromEast92 says:

AAAHHH,something new to blog about,it’s about damn time.LMAO

  11. Orange_Crusher says:

I think it is kind of ironic that Shanny didn’t get any flack for trading up to the #11 spot in 06 to draft Cutler but McD catches all kinds of heck for trading up to the 25th spot for Tebow….Hahahahaha. now that is some funny and obvious b/s..

Cutler never even sniffed a Heisman and he’s a franchise QB while Tebow almost won it twice but nobody thinks he can start in the NFL….

I think many will be shocked when Josh announces that TT is the starting QB before pre-season begins….jomho

  12. BeastFromEast92 says:

brian you gat a point,Iwould’ve liked to seen Brandstater last year too,the kid didn’t even really get a fighting chance.IMO

  13. BeastFromEast92 says:

I can see Tebow coming in on some plays, but starting QB,I kinda doubt it,but if he’s your man give’m Hell OC.LMAO

  14. BeastFromEast92 says:

Hey at least we all have to agree, the future is looking a whole lot brighter than it did at the end of last season.

  15. baylinorcrush says:

OC, are you standing in the sun, running a high temp.? You are just dreaming, that’s all fine and dandy, but to even think that there is a remote possibility Tebow is named starting QB before the pre season, is, well…., the words don’t come out and if they did they wouldn’t print them here, LOL.

  16. UKBroncos says:

I’m back, but I’m not gonna argue! I would just like to get some value for one of the 4! I am still buzzing after the draft and want to get another pick for next year. I think as long as McD stays, we’re gonna have some exciting drafts!

Starting Orton is probably the smart move, if a bit boring, unless Quinn wins the job. He’ll definitely hold Tebow back, until wild horses…..

  17. baylinorcrush says:

OC, may I need to remind you Tebow is no Elway, probably, LOL. Elway had natural talents already in motion when he came here so he got to start but even he, he got pulled out after three games he was so bad. Tebow has lots of talent but most of it is not natural, he has had to work very hard to get where he is at, he will develop much slower than Elway, you can put that in the bank, LOL.

  18. brian_schneider says:

Orton is our best chance this season because 1) we’re beefing up our big uglies, which means we are going to be more effective running the ball, Moreno will be better than last season, at least we all hope, 2) while we lost Marshall, we gained Thomas and Decker, both I think will contribute this season, also Royal should get more invovled 3) our defense will not stall out this season towards the end, therefore not putting our offense in a hole and making Orton with the game by himself. I think we’ll have a better season this year.

  19. baylinorcrush says:

UK, I forgot, they don’t argue in England, do they, they just have tea instead, right, LOL/joke.

  20. brian_schneider says:

Don’t worry UK, here in the states if you get in trouble you get to have a beer with the president. LMFAO!!!!!

  21. 07elway says:

Actually, Tebow is my man (figuratively speaking, LOL), not OC’s…. but I don’t even think he’ll be our starter before pre season. They aren’t going to put a rookie in front of two more experienced QBs that we both got in trades where they should be starters. I actually think its kinda weird that (most likely) Quinn will be the backup. They will all have to earn their spots on the roster and unless Orton forgets how to throw a football at some point, he will be our starter.

If Tebow gets any starting time at all, it will most likely be during the middle of the season (depending on how good or bad the other 2 are) but I can definitely see McD putting him in to play, but not necessarily start.

    Keep the faith Bronco Country…
    GO BRONCOS in 2010!!!!

  22. baylinorcrush says:

And about Shanny and Cutler, I refuse to talk about Cutler anymore, that’s my new season resolution. Unless he does something real stupid!!! LMAO…

  23. steveatwater5 says:

I think if Quinn is the starter we won’t have to worry.Quinn is our best shot cus he already played in this system before and thrived.can’t wait til preseason starts to see but whoever our QB is I will be there cheering for them

  24. UKBroncos says:

I have no-one to argue with over here about NFL, no-one else in my world knows enough.

I’m just warming up during the off-season and will come out fighting over the summer……

Alex Ferguson (Man Utd manager) has famously thrown tea cups before (at players including Beckham), so beware us tea drinkers……LOL

  25. Orange_Crusher says:

McD is a risk taker anyways and his instant emotional connection with “The Bone” gives me the impression that he will do anything and everything in his power to make TT a starter as soon as humanly possible.. I’m just sayin…lol

It is going to be fodder for many a speculation over the next few months anyways… bay, you do have the most logical approach to the QB situation but then again, at one time, you didn’t think there was any way we would draft a QB. So, now I just have to convice you that we will start him also….lol

I feel like McD only signed Quinn because he was mad at Orton for holding out, and it worked. They could have developed a bit of a strained relationship through the RFA period because Orton was wanting a big contract and McD declined to offer one..?

I remember when orton said he was alrighT with The Quinn trade because Josh called him ahead of time and asked him about it. Then after the draft a reporter asked josh if he called Orton before he decided to pick TT and Josh was like “I don’t have to call Orton or any other player before I deciede to draft someone”. I just get this vibe that there is tension between McD and Ort..??

    ILMSDB!!!

  26. baylinorcrush says:

Throwing tea cups at eachother on the sidelines, what a concept, here we drown people in gatorade instead, LOL.

  27. baylinorcrush says:

OC, not fair, I thought we wouldn’t draft one after we got Quinn but you know very well the week before the draft I told you I had this revelation McD was gonna draft a QB and I even picked Tebow in the contest, play fair please, LOL.

  28. steveatwater5 says:

I don’t think that’s why orange.we tried to get Quinn last year for cutler, plus Orton does need to step it up

  29. steveatwater5 says:

you were the closest right bay?

  30. brian_schneider says:

Orton needs to step it up…literally. Like needs to step up in the pocket and step up his mobility, he’s kind of like a “statue” as one put it.

  31. baylinorcrush says:

OC, I respect your opinions, but I feel you are grasping for straws about a strained relationship between McD and Orton over a big contract, You are the one who stated here that Orton wanted a 50 mil contract and we had to bring back articles to show that he never said that. I know you have always disliked Orton, and now you love Tebow, but you are a bit far reaching in trying to put one on a pedestal and the other in the cellar, is all I’ll say about that. But, hey it sure looks like it’s making you happy, so be it, but I for one will look forward to see what Orton can do with this improved team, as referred to above by Brian.

  32. oldsouthstander says:

Since Ryans injury ws not football related, is he or the Broncos on the hook for the cost of all the medical work, etc? Just wondering.

  33. steveatwater5 says:

Brian lol but no joke maybe the clady injury will help him with that

  34. baylinorcrush says:

I would think NFL medical coverage covers everything while a player is employed, in or out of the job, just like any company’s medical insurance, but he wouldn’t fall into the category of workmen’s comp, that’s for sure.

  35. baylinorcrush says:

steveatwater5, I rather think OC was the closest wrong, LOL

  36. steveatwater5 says:

indeed bay no one really expected that but it was entertaining to watch

  37. baylinorcrush says:

He and I have been sparring partners for awhile now, all in good fun, not to worry.

  38. akeem0707 says:

i hate to see clady hurt but hopefully this could help our new ol get some reps
but on the other hand i dont see tebow starting but i do see him in on every wild horses play
so happy to see mini camp here already
i think syd the kid thompson our draftee will be our best defensive draft pick or cfa just watch what i tell you
decker and bay bay will start and so will that linebacker from clemson

  39. Orange_Crusher says:

Thats why I said “at one time” you thought we wouldn’t get a QB. Sorry if I ruffled your feathers a little bit bay… That’s not my intention. I respect all your thoughts bro..

I’m pretty sure it is a fact that Orton wanted a long term contract for more money than his 1yr tender is worth and the Broncos did not offer one. I guess I was wrong to use the word “big”??

I did say “I feel like” and “I get a vibe” that the relationship is strained. those are openly objective statements not meant to be fact or construed as such. Just opinion and observation.

We don’t agree on this one but it wouldn’t be any fun if we always concur. I can agree to disagree..

  40. BeastFromEast92 says:

Soprry guys had to go out and cut grass before it rains, but I’ll give my 2 cents,I think we start Orton and unless he starts playing bad he stays the starter,I was the biggest Orton basher on here for a while(ask Baylin) but,he is our best shot to win,and Tebow probably WILL see some playing time,in some sort(Wild Horses) or maybe even a few drop back passes, but unless Orton completely flops,he will be our starting QB.And Quinn will be the backup, for now.
Just one man’s opinion that don’t mean a Helluva lot.HAHAHAHAHAHA

    BFE

  41. BeastFromEast92 says:

I thought for a while we would take Clausen.

  42. steveatwater5 says:

I see well im gonna get ready for work.get to move into my new place tonight.but I still can’t get the Broncos out of my head

  43. BeastFromEast92 says:

I do agree all 4 QB’s have potential, but I think Brandstater, unfortunately,is on the way out the door.Tebow and Quinn will be the future of the Mighty Broncos.

  44. steveatwater5 says:

me too BE92 I was for sure we would take him lol

  45. steveatwater5 says:

    Brady Quinn all the way

  46. BeastFromEast92 says:

BTW…I think Clady can pickup the dr. bill,he’s a multimillionaire.

  47. Orange_Crusher says:

Bay, I consider you one of the best bloggers I have ever talked to and remember you from way back at the RMN…

    Maximum respect for ya bro!!!

  48. BeastFromEast92 says:

It will take me a while to get used to rooting for Tebow, considering I hated his guts for 4 years (big UT fan),but I’m sure I’ll come around if he turns out to be our Field General.LOL

  49. BeastFromEast92 says:

Who do you guys think will be our starting WR’s and where they will start???

  50. Orange_Crusher says:

    BFE,

    I think Royal#1 Thomas#2 Gaffney#3 Stokley#4 and McKinley/Decker as backups..
