Marshall To Active Roster; Gandy Waived

September 9th, 2008 - 3:50pm by Jake Grilley

To make room for Brandon Marshall on its active roster the Broncos waived guard Dylan Gandy on Tuesday.

Gandy joined the Broncos as a free agent on May 16, 2008 and spent training camp with Denver. The team released Gandy on August 30 to reach the 53-man league minimum, only to bring him back to the team’s active roster three days later.

Marshall was off the active roster last week serving a one-game suspension for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.

no surprise,,,someone had to be cut/waived seeing how stellar the offensive line performed last night…but we cant let that game dictate how our O-line is built…this line hasnt gone up against bigtime passrushing 3-4 defenses except the cowboys in the preseason…..

    great to have B-Marsh back.

  2. wormyblackburny says:

Can’t WAIT to see what B-Marsh and Eddie do to the Bolts this week!

Nice win on Mon. Still have concerns about the deep throws that Russell overthrew because the reciever’s had us beat on those plays. Run D was so so. Still not sold on this defense, hopefully the offense can put the ball in the end zone and give the D breathing room consistantly.

  3. meisner says:

i thought the offense yesterday was great.. now with Marshall back, Cromartie and Jammer are gonna have a tough time on sunday.

  4. wormyblackburny says:

I think D’Angelo Hall may call in sick for the second game against the Broncos

  5. kulots says:

the faiders are burned with its deal with Hall, beaten by his royal majesty play after play…. Al Davis surely knows how to spend its money…

D’Hall is down, Cromartie ur next week…

    go broncos!

merriman is out for the season and cutler should have more time to throw thats bad news for the chargers now that marshall is back. our passing game could be one of the best in football this year

  7. BrandonBailey19 says:

WOW! Royal put on a show! Keep flying under the radar Broncos because it seems to be working! SD is next………LETS GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW: Does anyone know if the game against SD is sold out? I live in Tucson but i was wondering if the stadium will be sold out to give SD a hard time

  8. bigplayshay84 says:

TO THE GUY WHO WAS WORRIED ABOUT OUR DEEP COVERAGE….

We don’t have to worry about it against the chargers because P. rivers cannot throw nearly as far as Jamarcus Russell….. I think the trash talking that little cooby did will come back to haunt his noodle armed ass.

  9. WhidbeyBronco says:

oh my Lord that felt GOOOOOOOOD!!! Let’s do it again Sunday!! Go Broncos. BTW …Cutler! Looks like 6 really is almost 7. He’s looking like everything we hoped he was! Amazing. And Royal/Marshall? WOW. O’line? WOW!

    I’m happy

  10. Cut2Marsh46 says:

I don’t want to get over excited about Monday’s game but its hard not too. Let me break it down: Oakland’s defense, I thought would fair much better against us then it did. 2 quality corners, Howard is solid, Burgess is really good so is Kelly, and Morrison is on the rise. I did not anticipate to score over 40 points without our number one reciever BMarsh. Thankfully our O-line showed up and Cutler was able to do whatever he wanted with all that time. Even great A grade corners can’t really stay with B grade recievers when they have to be locked on them for more than 5 seconds. Its too hard. This game was one by our O-Line! Good job big guys! Steak dinner on Cutler for y’all!! Keep it up!

The Mighty Shanahan Has brandished his RoyalCutler. The dual for the next SuperBowl begins.

  14. baileythebronco says:

if brandon is reading this could he respond back? were all excited to see what the addition of our number one wide reciever will do to any defense, i was wondering if you got any predictions for the season? what can we look forward to seeing? kinda hard to top that opener!

  15. dwillwilliams27 says:

Jay Cutler , Eddie Royal & Brandon Marshall along with Brandon Stokley could be the Next Peyton Manning, Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne and a young Brandon Stokley to all have a great year with all three recievers having 1,000 yd season

    Maybe Just Maybe

  16. denver270 says:

I THINK EDDIE ROYAL CAN HAVE A BIG GAME AGAINST THE CHARGERS!!! GREAT ROUT RUNNER AND HAS SOME SPEED!! I THINK WE ARE STARTING A TURN AROUND FOR ARE TEAM!!! SCORE AND KEEP ARE OFFENCE ON THE FIELD AND KEEP THERES ON THE BENCH!!!! GO DENVER!

  17. Broncomania56 says:

I am so sick of the lack of credit the Broncos get over this win. Media people piss me off. Oh this win was because the Raiders were so bad. So What! You have to be blind to see that the Broncos offense is going to be a serious threat. Oh my, if Marshall played last night, it would of been worse! My expectations of this offense this year is huge. We have so much talent on our offensive side of the ball.

My Concern is and will be the Defense and special teams until they hold a formidable foe such as San Diego’s offense down so our offense can maintain the lead. Oh but now the media will say, “it’s because Merriman is out”. BS! I am picking Denver and Dallas for this Season’s Super Bowl. Denver is Gonna Shock the World baby!!!!!!!!!! GO BRONCOS!!!!!!

  18. BradJamesBroncoFan says:

I’m different in the regard that even though I live in Utah, I like to tune into sports show in different markets (primarily because Salt Lake City sports radio SUCKS hardcore…). Anyway, Tuesday, I was listening to ESPN Radio out of Pittsburgh, and the loser evening host said the Broncos weren’t for real. Tha’s rich coming from a Steelers commentator. I don’t have a problem with the franchise as the Rooneys, Mike Tomlin, Hines Ward etc., are class acts, but this guy sucked. Perhaps he’d like to remember that even a year ago when we weren’t a playoff team, we did whatever we wanted against a solid Steelers D, but I digress. Speaking of our defense, we do need to play better, but offensively, we were virtually flawless. When Brandon Marshall is added to the mix, things could be tough for the Chargers’ defense. We need to harass Phyllis Rivers all afternoon long. DIck Enberg’s calling our game. I want him to say plenty of “Oh Mys” for Marshall, Cutler, Royal, and so on.

  19. MileHighMagic08 says:

My number one concern was a the pass rush (or lack of) was relieve with the Broncos frequently colapsing the pocket. The offense is amazing the defense is not bad. They were excellent on 3rd downs.Cutler to Marshall and Royal will have defensive coordinators crying. Watch out, those are not the only targets. Great start GO BRONCOS

  20. lynch4prez says:

    1) i think i know why cutler chose his number 6 in denver.. he’s not quite 7 but he’s as close to it as were gonna get!
    2) shanahans play calling will get us a W on sunday, how did you guy like the first play of the game last night, the fake pitch reverse ran by royal.. if he didnt slip it could have been a really big gainer
    3) defences are now going to have to pick their poisons playing us.. either help out on marshall or help on royal, leaving stokley and scheffler one on one.. i like those odds and i like our potential this season

  21. delux304 says:

    hello Bronco land,

let me say Im also impressed. I went to the game in Oakland and I felt great. Despite the death threats and the %^& talking, I had a great time.

Anyway….since we are all stating our opinions. My concerns are Sproles and our speacial teams. We can have a let down. If offense takes care of business, we can create cusion for our defenses. Lets face it folks, Chargers have a great offense, however, our defenses are not a pushovers, unlike last year.

Trust me guys, we will win, but it wont be a blow out. Prepare for adversity! Teamwork!

  23. JoshSmith17 says:

Honestly, I think my favorite part about this win was shutting the three Mike’s in the announcer booth up. Honestly, I don’t think they could have sounded any more biased during the first half of that game. Anyway, Eddie Royal reminded me of Wes Welker the way he just cut right through the secondary. Simply amazing for his first game.

  24. kulots says:

This Vic Carruci of NFL.com is really against the broncos or just so happen hard to impress… he keeps on stressing on his write ups that this denver time is still not for real especially jay cutler since he was against the faiders defense….

…but dont he ever take into consideration that oakland has the highest paid cornerbacks in the league and what did jay and eddie did to them…burn them play after play….

sorry vic, ur favorites pats, colts, chargers are going down….
just see in week 2, hope you cover well how broncos will tear apart your chargers!!!!

    go broncos!!!

When will the stats section get fixed? It’s showing the preseason stats where it should be the regular season.

  26. sess44 says:

Anyone know why Boss Bailey didn’t get the start? Winborn did a great job in his absence.

  27. DrAwkward says:

Please/ Elway wishes he looked as good as Cutler so early

  28. gasperdn says:

OK BRONCO fans we need to get LOUD whenever Phillip “cry me a *******” Rivers takes a snap!!!! Lets get him rattled early and often!!!!!! Also I have been going on Yahoo sports and reading the comments of Faider fans. And for some reason they were not impressed with Eddie Royal or Jay Cutler ?!?!?!? During the preseason I told those losers to remeber the name Eddie Royal, and they all responded “He’s too small!!!” “He is going to get his head taken off on Monday Night” I think DeAngelo Hall is still down on the field trying to catch up with Royal with Cheese!!!! GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!!!

  29. BroncoMando07 says:

Let’s not worry about the Defense they can handle their own. Once again we witnessed a huge gain by the special teams, which got the faiders some pretty good field position. The Defense handled that quite well.

    Stay up BRONCOS…

  30. tatumfan says:

man was that a sweet game. and im glad to see our boys get some credit too. 12 on the power rankings is pretty sweet for us i think, even tho we are gonna go 12-4 with a super bowl victory this year.

  31. West Coast says:

kulots…Dont even sweat about Vic Carruci. The guy along with the rest of the experts are a joke. Dont forget during the NFL draft Maylock was the only one who knew what the **LL he was talking about. That was seriously sad. These guys are clowns that dont have a clue. The Raiders were much better than us when we played them at Oakland last year and we just destroyed them yet all the experts said they had the better draft and better free agency. Lets see…..if they were better than us in Oakland last year and had the better draft and free agency this year how did they just get an ass whipping on Monday night without our best receiver? Go Broncos!

  32. Broncfalls says:

O.K. SORRY BRONCO FANS HAVE TO FREAKIN VENT HERE. VIC CARRUCI YOU PUKE!

  33. Broncfalls says:

SORRY BRONCO BUDDIES, I HAVE TO VENT:

VIC CARRUCI, YOU FREAKIN PUKE ARE YOU KIDDINGME!!!!!! AFTER WEEK 1 YOU HAVE THE BALLS TO PUT OUT YOUR TOP 12 TEAM RANKINGS ON NFL.COM. GUESS WHO’S #12? THE BRONCOS. WHAT!!!!

OH WAIT IT GETS BETTER! HE HAS SAN DIEGO AT NUMBER 5!!!!! AFTER LOSING AT HOME TO CAROLINA WITHOUT STEVE SMITH!

UNFREAKIN BELIEVABLE! HIS REASON WAS THAT THE RAIDERS WERE HORRIBLE. TRUE THEY WERE! HOWEVER, YOU WANNA TELL ME THAT CLEVELAND WASN’T????? BUT THAT’S RIGHT WE’RE GOING TO KISS HOMO AND OWENS’S ASS ALL THE WAY TO THEIR FIRST ROUND PLAYOFF LOSS…

HOW MUCH RESEARCH DOES IT REALLY TAKE FOR ANYONE WITH A GOD FOR SAKEN BRAIN TO UNDERSTAND THAT THIS TEAM IS FOR REAL!

Sorry for the caps, I honestly just realized I was doing that. Sorry fans, didn’t mean to blast venting crap…but come on! #12

Oh well, I like being under the radar, but what I can’t stand is for someone who is supposed to follow football for a career to simply rank teams on last years performance. San Diego is a good team no doubt about it…but they did not in no way put up a top 5 finish last week. It’s amazing that a winless team would even break the top 5…..

    o.k. I’m done…….

p.s. Rivers you dumb ass, watch #6 on Sunday he’ll show you how to throw the football…

    GO GET EM BOYS!!!

  34. Broncfalls says:

    KULOTS!!!

That is hilarious, I was so pissed I went straight to the bottom to vent. I didn’t even read your post. After I posted my comment I went to the top and started to read everyone’s…then I got to yours and realized me and you are on the same page…..

long distance high five from illinois…..

    GO GET EM BOYS!!!

    @broncfalls

vic will surely be a clown this year no doubt about that…
this will be a great animation on how starting week2 he will be on broncos
side and start to mention how was our OL has improved and our explosive offense and the effective defense… for sure that will be the Theme starting week 2…just to say that his an EXPERT on nfl… what a waste Vic…

  36. Pratama says:

Broncos Country – just a few things. I am happy that all of you see things the same way I do – how the media doesnt have any love for the Broncos. But we really should see that as a blessing. Since we are not in a big media market we are often overlooked, the Broncos feel it too and it puts a chip on their shoulder. Also, it can be dangerous to believe your own hype too much – like Rex Grossman – they had anointed him as the future after his 2nd game, he was a guest analyst on ESPN before one game, etc – now look at him.

Second – I think that the game against the Chargers will tell us everything we need to know. They are a very good team – even though their QB is an @$$ and his only talent is in his ability to hand the ball off to LT and run his mouth. Last year they had our number, now its time to return the favor.

Against, Oakland our defense against the run looked soft, so we were lucky that we got up big early on so that they had to pass the ball, we wont have that luxury this time, so I hope we do better. Also, Kudos to Clady and the entire O-line – they looked great. Cutler didnt even need to wash his jersey after that one.

Finally – all the “experts” can go to hell. Some picked the Raiders to win this game and the ones that picked the Broncos to win picked them to win by just 3 pts. Shows how much they know.

  37. RocketArm6 says:

Every one is right, the Broncos are being overlooked as a contender. All year sports analyst picked the Raiders to be good because Mcfadden, Deangelo Hall, Russell was supposed to lead the team, all that now they say they are not good. I think the secondary is good but Royal is better. When you put Cutler with a good WR you will see excellent results. They are giving Cassell more props for his win against a rookie Chiefs team. Cutler will be in contention for for the MVP. Against the Chargers I believe they will try to double Royal and Marshal and Stokley will have a good game. Don’t get me wrong Marshal and Royal will have an impact on the game but if they leave Stokley any room he will make the plays( thats why we have him). Cutler has the cockyness mixed with his talent( It was good to see the bootleg and playaction) then given the offense we have it is enough to be a legit contender and bring home a third championship. Confidence, Talent and Chemistry.

Lets show the Chargers the AFC West is ours.
#27 D-Will Lets bring it home for him
