Marshall Ready To Rival Ravens Attack

October 30th, 2009 - 1:25pm by Chris Gentilviso

In his three-plus seasons with the Broncos, Brandon Marshall has faced 26 different opposing teams.

The Baltimore Ravens will become the 27th team on Sunday.

While Marshall did not play in the teams’ 2006 contest as a rookie, he knows plenty about the vaunted defensive attack that he and his teammates have been preparing for.

“It’s going to take four quarters,” Marshall said. “They’re a great team that’s used to winning, that’s used to being in difficult games.”

One of the leaders who’s propelled the Ravens to that reputation is Ed Reed. Through six games this season, Reed and the rest of the Baltimore secondary have faced two of the league’s top-10 receivers: Randy Moss (573 yards) and Chad Ochocinco (565 yards).

Marshall has seen enough to know the challenge Reed presents for him and the rest of Denver’s receivers.

“I don’t think you try to attack a guy like that — you try to stay away from a guy like that,” Marshall said. “Ed Reed is very special. He’s probably the best safety in the league. He’s a beast.”

INJURY UPDATE
There were two changes to the Broncos’ Injury Report for Week 8 on Friday. After limited participation in Thursday’s practice, Ronald Fields (hamstring) and Brian Dawkins (hamstring) were both full participants in Friday’s practice. Each is listed as probable for Sunday’s game at Baltimore.

On the other side, Ravens LB Tavaras Gooden (head) was moved from limited participation on Thursday to full participation on Friday. He is probable for Sunday’s game. After not participating in Thursday’s practice T Jared Gaither (neck) was a limited participant on Friday. He is listed as questionable.

ROOKIE RAZZING
As the players were walking out to the field, Robert Ayers’ headgear became a casualty of the winter weather. After his helmet was thrown into the snow by his teammates, Ayers left the cleared path and walked with a smile through the two-foot drifts. Continuing to walk in the snow, he fired back at the veterans, throwing a snowball at Wesley Woodyard, before dumping the snow left in his helmet on D.J. Williams.

HALLOWEEN HITS THE PRACTICE FIELD
With Halloween less than 24 hours away, several Broncos traded in their helmets for masks at the start of Friday’s practice. One rookie even traded identities.

With snow still covering the two grass practice fields, the Broncos were able to clear off their turf field and conduct an outdoor session for the first time since Monday. Here are some photos from the onset of practice.

what a surprise, Dukes picks Baltimore. “Denver’s a better team, but I think that Baltimore’s desperate, and I think desperation will win in this situation.”

    BS!

  4. Marshallman-15 says:

Dukes probably spent the last few days thinking of a reason why we aren’t gonna win. we’d better, but if they’re ahead before half-time, that doesn’t mean anything. We’ve given up either 10/17 points altogether, and I don’t think Joe Flacco is going to break that into pieces.

Duke is a Doshe, Dork, Dipstick,Dumba$$, Doorknob . He don’t know squat, and he proves ot every week.

I’m going to have trouble falling asleep tonight waiting for Sunday morning and the game to start. So I guess I’ll stay up late and keep you guys company. LOL Joking I picked the Broncos to win 20-12 but to be honest I hope they win by 20 and don’t allow a touchdown. That would speak volumes for this team.

I don’t put much stock in what Dukes has to say. Even if he had something good to say about the Broncos I wouldn’t put much stock in it.

GO BRONCOS let’s see some wild horses on the field.

I think the bye week came at a great time. The team is about to play some more very talented hard nose teams starting with the Ravens. I think this bye will have given much needed time to prepare and heal for this very physical battle. The Ravens are not the same team that we have once known, because against all odds they can pass the ball as good as any other team in the league now. As I look at the statistics for this game, the Broncos seem to have the advantage in all areas across the board. And yet we all know that it is never that simple. This game is going to come down to who is more stubborn. Which team is going to come up big when its all on the line. The Broncos have done this well in its first 6 games, but everything that they have done means absolutely nothing right now because records don’t win games. Hard work wins games and that is why the Broncos are where they are.

As far as match-ups go, I have to say our Defense needs to continue to pressure the QB as they have. Baltimore has been having problems with health at LT and I will be curious to see how Nolan plans to possibly exploit that. If we can limit Rice from making big runs I like our chances.
On Offense I really see Royal igniting Foxworth. I always liked Foxworth when he was with us but always felt he had major issues when trying to cover real speedsters like Royal. I’m curious if the running game can remain effective against the Ravens rush D. They have been very good and fast at getting to the RB this season, but have also been exposed in the last few weeks against some of the elite RB’s in the league such as (Peterson and Benson). I know Buc and Knowshon both have the goods to wear down any defense so it should be a very good game.
    Go Broncos!
