Manning Utilizing Elway’s Knowledge

December 19th, 2012 - 4:27pm by Gray Caldwell

Quarterback Peyton Manning has a unique advantage within the Broncos’ Dove Valley headquarters. There’s a Hall of Fame quarterback in Executive Vice President of Football Operations John Elway right upstairs.

The future Hall of Famer hasn’t let his opportunity to take advantage go to waste.

“He and I still talk a lot about playing in the NFL, different teams, different stadiums,” Manning said before offering a glimpse at just how extensive his preparation is. “We talk about playing at home, sometimes little things, the sun sets at certain times at a home game, there’s certain times you want to throw certain routes depending on where the sun sets. Those are little things you can kind of get.”

Manning said it’s “well-documented” how much he respects Elway, as he considers him one of his favorite quarterbacks of all time.

With that in mind, he understands what an asset the Broncos’ football boss can be for the team’s signal callers.

“Playing quarterback at my age, John played, he shared some things that worked for him,” Manning said. “So he’s been a great resource for me as a quarterback and obviously he’s doing a great job leading the organization.”

from top to bottom this team has no weak links

  3. strandoftds82 says:

That question might not be answered for another 3 or four years. I’m just glad we have Von Miller on our side.

  4. RH709 says:

Smith is a great player no doubt but Vin Miller is far and away a more complete player.

  5. mhagest says:

Will someone please get Peyton an “ORANGE” tie?!

  6. OTbroncos says:

    Year one: draft Von Miller.

Year two: sign the biggest FA in the history of the NFL (Peyton Manning).

    Year three: ???????

  7. RH709 says:

    Year Two: Win a SB?!?

  8. strandoftds82 says:

    Year 3 wish list:
    1. Sign DE Cliff Avril
    2. Draft 1st round MLB Manti Te’o
    3. Sign WR Wes Welker
    4. Draft a big DT to plug gap
    5. Draft a big bruising RB
    6. Draft O-lineman for depth

  9. strandoftds82 says:

I’d put re-sign LT Ryan Clady first, but i’m not the slightest concerned about him not coming back. Clady will be a Denver Bronco for years to come.

  10. tlcat06 says:

I still think I’m dreaming… Will I wake up and some day this didn’t happen?

  11. alaskanbronco06 says:

  13. tlcat06 says:

This Jets thing is a disaster. I’m so glad I am a Bronco fan. Even in he who must not be named years it wasn’t this embarassing.

  14. strandoftds82 says:

Rex Ryan is foolish for not using Tebow the way the Broncos did. He brought this on himself.

  15. tlcat06 says:

BT, I didn’t know I was playing your contest! LOL Glad I couldn’t change it then. Too funny!!!

  16. tlcat06 says:

He didn’t want him. His owner did.

  17. strandoftds82 says:

Agreed. Cat, you excited for going to the game Sunday? Silly question huh? LOL

  18. tlcat06 says:

  22. tlcat06 says:

Sounds good. Stay warm buddy. It’s 6 degrees here! LOL

  23. strandoftds82 says:

The Cleveland Browns should be a cake walk. They are not an elite team, especially on the road.

  24. strandoftds82 says:

    Its 10% here. Bye!

  25. tlcat06 says:

I know. But I just want us to keep plugging a long. We just have to win four more games to make the ship. I’m going to faint if it happens.

    Draft Oline reinforcements
Draft a MLB, DT, WR and RB (in that order)

  30. Risky305 says:

I think we’re going to follow what we did last year and trade back out of the first round; rather we win the superbowl or not. What do yall think. Turtle, there’s some beef!

    good article

  35. strandoftds82 says:

I believe we can win the SB. But after the season is over I believe that there are three things to address in this order.
    1. Draft a big DT such as John Jenkins to plug the gap.
    2. Get another pass rusher to complement VonDoom and company, A DE like an Avril.
    3. We got to get another RB.
Thats just in case McGahee can’t go anymore. I hope he can.

  36. tlcat06 says:

AB who else is a free agent after the season?

  37. tlcat06 says:

DB that article is fantastic. Thank you.

  38. Von_Dumervil says:

    Broncos 42 Browns 16

Manning has strong day throwning 290 yards and 3 scores but its Moreno who steals the show on Sunday rushing for 160 yards and 2 scores while catching 3 balls for 30 yards and another score, Defense scores another TD while Weeden has a horrible day throwing 4 picks and getting sacked 8 times Richardson will be held in check just like Ray Rice rushing 20 times for only 42 yards and NO scores

    Bold predictions for week 16

  39. baylinorcrush says:

    Football news:

Tim Tebow has had better weeks.

One day after Jets coach Rex Ryan announced that he was bypassing Tebow and replacing Mark Sanchez with Greg McElroy, US Weekly reported that he had broken up with actress Camilla Belle after two months of dating. A source told US Weekly that the relationship “just didn’t work out.”

Reports of Tebow and Belle’s relationship began back in October when the two were said to have been “overly affectionate” at an event in Jacksonville, Fla.

When the displaced Sanchez and Eva Longoria broke up in the middle of the season, TMZ reported that the two called it quits because Sanchez was always in a bad mood due to the Jets’ struggles.

Perhaps that may have been the case with Tebow and Belle.

    LMAO!

  40. baylinorcrush says:

I’m really laughing out loud about the reason for the Sanchez Longoria split and the Tebow reference, not laughing at Tebow at all, I actually feel real sorry for his freefall from the top so far, from playoff games with the Broncos to this Jets team, wow.

  41. brian_schneider says:

The picture above just looks humurous.
Peyton: Hey John, have I been doing good, have I been all that you thought I could be, have I lived up to expectations so far?
John: Ahhh, wellll, geez let me check my list here…YES, YES OMG YES!!!

  42. baylinorcrush says:

Shefter just reported Jets will part ways with Tebow this off season, I guess I had a premonition with my football news, haha. Good for Tebow but other than Jacksonville I don’t see who could benefit from that circus, not even the Pats with the McD Tebow ties, no way Belicheck would take on that distraction. If Jacksonville is out then Tebow will be done in football is my take.

  43. sndvl says:

I believe the Tebowites owe us an apology…

This just in- Rex Ryan is a dumb @$$. Shocker I know.

I can certainly empathize with T2. Passed over for a promotion, a break up and news he will be phased out of a position in less than two weeks. I went through it and if he ever wanted to call me for advice, I can certainly provide some. Especially in this instance. Lol
That really is a terrible hand to have been dealt. Just in time for Christmas no less. Eesh

Which reminds me. It’s a great time to be a Broncos fan…

    Broncos Country Strong 2012!!!!!!!!!!!

  44. 605JB says:

Personally I would like to see Brandon Jacobs in Denver, along with Amendola and Laurinatis when his contract is up.

  45. strandoftds82 says:

I can see Tim Tebow ending up in two places, Jax and Tennessee. IMO

  46. baylinorcrush says:

sndvl, as far as apologies go I sincerely doubt that would happen with many (other than turtle and daddy who were big enough and have already apologized for doubting the direction in which Elway took us getting rid of Tebow and acquiring Manning). Most of the other Tebow disciples who were on here probably will never offer any apologies since they are never ever here in the first place. I mean a flock of them basically kept telling us that they were on this blog not just for Tebow but because they were first and foremost Bronco fans, and since Tebow left they have never been heard of again!!! In essence lying is what they did and did so without any shame at all. What will always amaze me is that Tebow disciples love and respect Tebow for his love of god and how impeccably he leads his life but they themselves were totally impervious to all that often acting out in ways that would have shamed the guy they revered so much in the first place. It’s kind of like most of them were troubled souls to start with who seeked a direction in their lives and craved for Tebow to solve it. I wish them the best though and am wondering how they are coping with the current situation at the Jets. I would think they are leaving the Jets blog in droves now, or are just about to, history repeats itself…

    Offseason Moves
    1. Sign Danny Amendola
    2. Sign Cliff Avril
    3. Draft a big DT

  48. dbmak says:

Hello Broncos fans. This is my first post, but I’ve been reading them for years and I gotta say I love the knowledge you guys have on here. I for one hope that we can keep Del Rio here for years, but I think the way he turned around our defense the head coaching jobs will be calling again.
