After the Kansas City 49-yard field goal, the Denver running game moved the offense across midfield.
Running back Knowshon Moreno picked up 15 yards on the second play of the drive, and Ronnie Hillman followed that up with a 10-yard rush.
A play later, Moreno took it again and gained 7. Quarterback Peyton Manning hit tight end Jacob Tamme for a 12-yard pickup and a third-down conversion to the Kansas City 30-yard line.
On the next play, Manning hit wide receiver Demaryius Thomas in stride for a 30-yard touchdown, giving the Broncos a 14-9 lead after the extra point conversion.
The touchdown was Thomas’ sixth of the year. With another 22 receiving yards, Demaryius Thomas will reach the 1,000-yard milestone for the first time of his career.
