Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning is a candidate for Sports Illustrated’s year-end cover as the magazine celebrates the top sports moments of the year.

Fans can vote for their choice of the top sports moment from 2012 on Sports Illustrated’s Facebook page through Thursday, Dec. 13. The winner will be featured on the cover of the magazine’s Dec. 31st issue.

Manning’s comeback currently ranks in the top 5, and the Broncos’ overtime playoff win against Pittsburgh in last year’s AFC Wild Card round is also in the top 10.

Through 13 games this year, Manning has completed 330-of-483 passes for 3,812 yards and a franchise single-season record 30 touchdown passes.

  2. alex4serg says:

fact is nfl football is about execution. 80 percent of the time they know exactly what you want to do. it still comes down to player execution.

furthermore have you noticed that most coaches cover their mouth while calling plays. thats cause they excpect the opponent to be watching.

there is a saying in the nfl. if you aint cheating you aint trying.

  3. Bronco_Turtle says:

AB! Hope you didn’t lay money on tonights game bro!!! :) I’m hoping there is less than 12 points in the last 13 minutes!!!

  4. raidrhadr says:

Man I’m so sick of the patriots. I hope we can at least hang with those guys if we meet them in the playoffs. I’m sick watching this game. I was really hoping the Texans could beat them there.

  5. OTbroncos says:

    I hope we’re taking notes….. Yikes……

  6. Bronco_Turtle says:

Does this qualify as a Statement game from Brady and the gang… WOOF, they look tough

  7. Bronco_Turtle says:

I was expecting a little more fight from the Texans…

  8. DBFanFromAzViaMd says:

Can’t believe the Cards beat them but the Texans are getting manhandled.

  9. Bronco_Turtle says:

I can DBF, those guys were learning/re-learning McD’s offense… took them a few weeks, just like it took us a few weeks to learn with Manning. The Pats look pretty dialed in tonight

  10. camharland says:

Texans ust got SMACKED! Now we are closer to the #1 seed! LOL!

  11. camharland says:

    *just

  12. OTbroncos says:

Texans have looked pretty weak for a few weeks now, but NE came to play tonight.

  13. DBFanFromAzViaMd says:

They are lookin’ pretty dialed in tonight. Can only hope our D will shatter their dial pad when/if we meet them in the playoffs.

  14. Bronco_Turtle says:

Now it’s time to take care of BAL… I was not excited to hear Cameron was fired early this morning, cause that means a real healthy dose of Ray Rice (which will be a great test for our D! but that guy has mad skills)

  15. Bronco_Turtle says:

I can’t wait for Broncos/Pats in the playoffs… I can see a legit over/under at like 68.5 or higher! Crazy!!!

  16. OTbroncos says:

I think we’re on a collision course headed for a rematch with the Patriots in the tournament…..

  17. raidrhadr says:

cam all we need is for the Texans and Patriots to lose 2 games and us win out and we’ll be the #1 seed. lol

  18. tlcat06 says:

This just confirms for me what I noticed the last three weeks with the Texans. They’re not ready for the big boys yet. But I’m still not scared of the Patriots. Sue me. LOL I can’t wait to get another shot. I’d rather have Peyton Manning on my side any day of the year. Best ever!!

The Raven Killer heads to Baltimore to secure that #3 seed!!! WOOT WOOT! GO BRONCOS! TAP YOUR CLEATS THREE TIMES!!!!

  19. Bronco_Turtle says:

agreed OT… I’m going to be angry if that pick by Mallett costs me the trifecta

  20. DBFanFromAzViaMd says:

I heard about that right after I secured tickets to the game.Gonna be interesting to say the least.

  21. alaskanbronco06 says:

BT yup I put money down on Texans. And I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Patriots have allowed 5 100+ yard rushers out of a two TE set. Went 2-3 in those games. Yet Texans, who normally run a two TE set over 80% of the time hardly used it. Early in the game they gave up on the run and went to PA passes. Plus didnt help their D didnt play tough like they normally do or that Schaub was trying to force things instead of taking what was given. His INT he had Foster open for a big gain if not a TD and he tried forcing it.

  22. Bronco_Turtle says:

:) You’d lose 9 out of 10 on a good day AB!!! but I love you just the same

  23. alaskanbronco06 says:

The Niners hopefully can do better gameplanning and film watching and see how bad the Pats are vs two TE sets in both aspects of the game and utilize that weakness.

  24. Bronco_Turtle says:

The Pats just force fed the Texans a big ol helping of ‘GET YOUR BUTT OFF MY FIELD’…

  25. alaskanbronco06 says:

BT I disagree. If the Texans utilized what they normally do that the Patriots have a hard time against then this game would be much closer.

  26. Bronco_Turtle says:

That score cost me… Blew my under and my combo!!! MALLETT = CUT!!! :)

  27. alaskanbronco06 says:

BT you need to come out of the closet……the secretly a Pat fan closet

  28. Bronco_Turtle says:

AB, after watching what just happened on the field I don’t agree… those are great theories, but you just saw a whoopin that was no accident

  29. camharland says:

And the pats still have to play SF. The Texans have to play the vikes and play the colts twice! Who knows…. Even if we win out and get the third seed it wouldn’t break my heart to see our Broncos play one extra week.
Rock on Bronc on! Go Broncos!

  30. Bronco_Turtle says:

I’m a fan of good football… and Belli chases perfection! I do enjoy watching them

  31. tlcat06 says:

The best part would be if the Colts won the division now.

  32. Bronco_Turtle says:

And Brady is the Second best QB of all time… behind Elway so I really enjoy watching him carve up a defense

  33. tlcat06 says:

We just HAVE to play our game and not change. He Texans changed what they do tonight and it didn’t help them. Keep your identity Broncos!!!

  34. Bronco_Turtle says:

Just like I enjoy watching Peyton… they make the game way more interesting

  35. tlcat06 says:

BT, Belli also cheats to get perfection and for that I cannot ever respect him.

  36. alaskanbronco06 says:

Im not saying Pats arnt good. They forced the Texans to play their game (partially) which was good. But Texans didnt give any fight to not play their game. They didnt even try to fight it. They came out and tried to exploit a strength for NE instead of a weakness. Patriots put on a butt whooping. But Texans didnt do them any favors. Football is about exploiting the weaknesses of your opponents. Not playing into their strengths.

  37. tlcat06 says:

Tom Brady is not the second best QB of all time. Based on what credentials? Joe Montana is just kicked to the curb? And Peyton, who means more to his team than Brady ever could, is less of a QB because he never had the talent that Brady had around him? Brady won two SBs on Adam Vineteri’a foot. SBs are a TEAM thing. Peyton Manning is a better quarterback than Tom Brady.

  38. alaskanbronco06 says:

    Same here Cat.

Seeing them strive for perfection sure is fun to watch. But to me I would rather watch a team play like the Pats did tonight when their opponents are trying to play against their weaknesses.

  39. Bronco_Turtle says:

Whipped is Whipped AB… NE took the fight out of them

  40. Bronco_Turtle says:

In your eyes cat… but if I had to make a team from any players in history I’d take Elway as my qb then Brady… No doubt, Brady is as good as there ever has been… I’d take Montana 3rd and maybe Peyton 4th

  41. alaskanbronco06 says:

    And agreed Cat.

Brady is good no doubt. But not 2nd best all time. Yes he has three SB rings. Back when they were cheating. 0 since then. Like Cat said Brady has always had more talent around him than Manning has and Brady actually had a defense.

  42. Bronco_Turtle says:

Great QB’s make their team Champions… and Peyton isn’t done playing so maybe he does it again and gains a peg or two, but no way I’d take him over Elway, Brady or Montana

  43. alaskanbronco06 says:

Not saying they wernt whipped BT. But there is a difference when you whip a team playing to your strengths than whipping a team playing to your weakness. I would much rather see the 2nd case. Its more impressive.

  44. Bronco_Turtle says:

Just one fans oppinion to another… I’m not trying to convince of anything cat, i’m well aware of your feelings

  45. alaskanbronco06 says:

All those great QBs also had a lot of talent around them when they won. Manning was able to take a Colts team that didnt have that talent to the SB twice winning one.

  46. OTbroncos says:

Patriots fans have grown to become one the more pompous bunch in the league, and I’m surrounded by them out here… I really can’t take another post season beat down… I’d like to see some of this come playoff time:

    http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-_Z_ZTmfuuU

  47. tlcat06 says:

BT, what happened to the Patriots when Brady broke his leg and was out for the year? Peyton Manning reinvented the position of QB. But whatever. You pick Brady and I’ll pick Peyton. Actually, Peyton is better than Elway to me. So it’s, Peyton, Montana, Elway, Unitas and THEN maybe I’d pick Brady.

  48. Bronco_Turtle says:

and it’s not just superbowls that should be considered when the word Champion is thrown out there, Conference Championships mean something… Elway has 5, Brady has 5 and Montana has 4 Peyton has 2… just part of my thought process

  49. Bronco_Turtle says:

and my team would beat yours 7.5 times out of ten cat!!!

  50. WieminCA says:

Better hope we don’t stand to meet the Patriots before the Championship game … i.e., if they’re seeded 2nd, we’d do better being seeded 4th … if they’re #1, then either 2 or 3 …

I’d say the Texans need to regroup … the Patriot’s D really stepped up tonight …
