VON MANNING FOOTBALL 2012! Good Stuff!!!
Well for one week only, I’ll be a niner fan… Or the road to NO will pass through Foxborough.
I doubt the Texans drop two more… Maybe one to the Minnesota Peterson’s. Should make for an interesting matchup with those Lucky Colts.
Of course we have our own measuring stick. Going to be a huge game in Bal. If we are going to make a case for that NO trip, the franchise’s 1st win in Bal needs to happen. Something tells me it will be a game similar to the one’s in 05-06, instead of these last two trips… At least that’s my preference. We are catching them at the right time I believe. A banged up D. Granted they will be desperate for a win, and if firing your OC in Dec while still fighting for the division doesn’t scream desperate, I’m not sure what does. However, we have the chance to hand them their 3rd straight loss. And make the AFC a two horse race…
Broncos Country Strong 2012!!!!!!!!!!
I currently live in another country that’s 6 hours ahead of Mtn Time, so I apologize for late posts. However, the point must be made. WHO Cares what Brady is ranked amongst the greatest QB’s ever…he’s not even close to Elway and many put Elway around 3rd…Marino, Kelly, Montana, there’s a start…P. Manning and Brady are similar to each other, but not to the other 3. There is a case for about 5 more QB’s too…LONG before Brady. You have to prove Brady is the best before anyone has to prove he’s not. Super Bowls are one determining factor, but SB’s are won by great teams. So, the argument on Super Bowls alone isn’t nearly enough. Yards and TD’s are a factor, but not nearly enough by themselves, either as the game is very different concerning those stats now than 10 years ago…or 10-30 years ago. IMAGINE Kelly, Elway, Marino, Montana, Moon, etc. playing when you couldn’t TOUCH the QB…or hit a defensless receiver, or jam them past 5 yards, or hit them too hard, or above the neck…etc. Marino would probably be the greatest in today’s NFL. When you look at pure QB’s…Manning and Brees are both better than Brady. Brady has been remarkable, but making a case for the best isn’t in the cards…not yet…maybe not ever.
Imagine if you put Dan Marino or even Archie Manning on a team that had a better defense… Imagine the possibilities of them winning multiple Super Bowls. Why is it ok to do that and say that Marino is a top ten QB of all time but ignore it for Peyton!? Why is it okay for you to ignore other QBs behavior but punish Peyton still!? I get it, BT. You’ve hated Peyton Manning for so long that you truly can’t get over it. Which is fine. I just need someone to remind me of that on a weekly basis because I’ve been a Manning fan forever. Hence the reason I’m biased and more reason for me to hate Tom Brady. He is good but he is not Manning good. The NFL agrees with me because they have him ranked I think 7th on the all time football player list in front of Elway and that came out years ago. The actually rank Unitas up there higher and Montana but you ignored both last night. Which means you’re biased too. Just stop acting like Tom Brady deserves citizen of the year. Two weeks ago Shannon Sharpe was asked who is the most genuine in all if football and he never hesitated when he said Peyton Manning.
And I suggest that you don’t go around comparing Peyton Manning’s apology to Ochoa Cincos because there are things that can be forgiven a lot easier than others and its an absolutely disgusting comparison. You’re not going to get far with and fan if football making those comparisons.
*Ocho Cincos
*any fan of
Have at him, Cat… I’m with you on this one…
Just my opinion, when you’re comparing QBs..or any position for that matter, you have to take into acount the era in which they played a majority of their career. Guys like Elway, Marino, Montana, those guys played in an era where the life expectancy of a QB was far less than it is now. There was no Brady rule, or if you touch the QB it’s roughing the passer. You could have defenders tee off on your WR, there were no rules to protect them.
No I’m not saying the QBs of today aren’t great but if the only thing you can compare between players that played in two different eras is stats on paper..that’s it. Even then it doesn’t tell the whole story. Rules have changed, refs have gotten flag happy. Everything the league implements is to protect and aid the offense. So the QBs of today should be great, heck you can’t touch them, and you can’t touch the WRs so why wouldn’t it become a passing league??
Anyway something some people overlook when comparing players espeically QBs is when they played. Just think of guys like Brady, Newton, or RG3 back when roughing the passer was almost a non existent call. Now think of guys like Elway, Montana, and Marino in today’s game when the QB is so protected.
Brian,
You’re exactly right and straight in-line with my comment a few posts back. I will argue all day that Brady fans have to prove why he is the best ever, we don’t have to prove why he’s not. I’m all for loving your QB, but being a homer will discredit theories very quickly. I could make a very strong case for Elway as the best QB to ever play, and maybe he was, but it’s too difficult as the era of the QB must be taken into consideration and thus makes it an impossible feat. I will say again, Elway is pretty close to #3 all-time and Brady isn’t close to Elway…so, Theory of Brady as the best is proved incorrect.
Looks like it’s who is the best all time QB derby! Lots of good points made. I have blinders on cuz if they did not play for my Broncos then they do not qualify. So mine is John Elway, Peyton Manning, Jake the Snake Plummer, Craig Morton. So when do we start carving their faces into Pikes Peak. LOL.
Just kidding.

Well, the Texans got rocked last night! Lots of football to be played still. And N.E. looks tough as ever but I’m confident in Peyton Manning and our Broncos. There’s still different scenarios that can play out. Heck, even Houston can slip to the #3 seed. That would be a wild thing to happen. Whats next?
Just as most of us thought, Tom Brady and the Pats can dissect just about any defense in the league. They may not have the best defensive ranking but they always seem to rise to the occasion for big games. Texans looked pedestrian and put up no challenge at all last night. As sndvl, mentioned the road to the SB most likely will go thru NE. Brady now gets to play his childhood favorite Team, (49ers) as he grew up in the bay area. Go Niners!!!
Texans can’t afford to lose one more game or they give up their #1 seed, and play divsion rival Indy twice in the last 3 weeks….(provided Pats win out). Texans other game is vs. Jags.
Broncos just need to win out and let the cards fall where they may. Have a feeling this will come down to a Brady/Manning rematch. Would love for that to happen in Denver. The playoffs are always a new season, so anything can happen.
GO BRONCOS!!!!!
The Texans can easily lose another game or 2 playing the Colts twice and The Vikes with Peterson go hog wild. I feel a changing in the wind. LOL
Morning Royal. My Going to the Cleveland game is looking bleak. I might have to wait until next year. Bonkers!
Morning strandsky!! – No problem, we’ll hook up next season for sure!
I hadn’t really thought of the Texans starting a slide but your’re right… you never know.
My bad- Jags are on Pats remaining schedule.
