The Broncos thrilling season-opening victory led to a GMC Never Say Never Moment of the Week nomination for quarterback Peyton Manning, who played his first game in 20 months on Sunday.
Manning completed 19-of-26 passes for 253 yards and a pair of touchdowns to finish with a quarterback rating of 129.2. His yardage total and passer rating both were the highest by a Bronco quarterback in his debut with the team.
His first touchdown pass as a Bronco – a 71-yard screen to Demaryius Thomas – was the 400th of his career, making Manning just one of three players (Brett Favre and Dan Marino) to reach that milestone. Manning needed the fewest games and passing attempts to reach that exclusive club.
“It’s just one game,” Manning said after the win. “It’s a good start — it’s always fun to win Opening Night. What an awesome atmosphere, playing on primetime [and] the fans were rockin’.
“Don’t get me wrong,” he continued. “I know how hard I’ve worked and how many people have helped me in this process. I’m grateful, and I’m definitely appreciative of the moment and the opportunity.”
The other two nominees for the weekly award are the New York Jets, for their 48-point performance in a win over Buffalo and the Cowboys for becoming the first team to defeat the defending Super Bowl Champions on opening night since the league changed to its current opening-game format nine years ago.
Fans may vote for one of these three moments on NFL.com/gmc following Monday Night Football and ending on Friday at 1 PM MDT to determine the GMC Never Say Never Moment of the Week. The winner will be announced Friday during NFL Network’s “Around the League” show and then posted on NFL.com.
After the regular season, fans will have a chance to determine the GMC Never Say Never Moment of the Year, from among the 17 weekly winners. Fans can vote for the winner on NFL.com/gmc throughout the month of January.

Sorry for the double post, but I Copy/Pasted it from Word, and without spacing it is just a block of blah!!!
B-R-O-N-C-O-S BRONCOS BRONCOS BRONCOS!!!
Score Prediction…
Denver 27
Atlanta 16
Two more Sacks for QB KILLA!!! Peyton breaks 300 for the first time for the Good Guys!!!
So BroncofaninIL and Caramello both guessed 31-20 on a 31-19 score and they finished second to oldsouth who guessed 27-23!!!!! Come on man, how lame is that, go look at the original rule of my contest, it’s not the total point that’s impressive, it’s how close each guess is to each score. In this case the ILfan and mellow were dead on with the Bronco score and only one point off the Steelers score while oldsouth was 4 points off the Steelers score plus 4 points off the Bronco score for a total 8 points of the correct score. Come on man, what kind of b.s. contest in the world is this? if you are going to carry on my tradition at least put some sense into it. Congrats to the ILFAN AND MELLO, the true winners of the week. Geeshh, I didn’t think it was rocket science…. If you are half as smart as you let on you will see the true value in the way I originally designed the contest and switch to its old rules, if you feel the necessity to carry on my work plagiarize it correctly or at the very least in a way that makes sense. The way you have it some bloke guessing Broncos win 50-0 would of tied for the win, my gosh… Too much hippie stuff going on in your head is all I can come up with.
BT
Just like my Typo on Mannings first name, its nice to know we all make mistakes from time to time. Thaks for running the contest.
Just saying!
FTR
BAY! Of all the post worthy events, news, accounts and much more, you chose a messed up contest to rejoin the group??? Whatever it took, welcome back, hope you stick around and share your thoughts and opinions on everything Bronco…
I used to be O&B but lost my password!
Anyway, WELCOME BACK! Stick around! Should be a fun year!
oh thats Thanks. my bad!!
FTR
Hey Bay… Wish I could say good to see you! But as usual, your self-serving, convoluted narcisstistic oppinion is very much like salt in good Coffee! Fifty was the total, and 50 was his pick… sorry if it bunched your panties
Hope you enjoy the season!
Hey Bay.
FTR
No Problem FTR… you are very welcome! My apologies for filling the blog with Trivial Arguements from time to time as well!
Hey CostarRca and FTR, hope all is well with you guys. Having a blast here, enjoying the season without all the work, you carry on without me, I’m enjoying the blog retirement immensely, and hopefully you guys can make sense of the turtle soup contest, it’s no different than the total point Vegas line, how original…
I guess 31 (the actual broncos score) to 17…. 2 points off and i get 3rd place beneath a 27-23 pick, 34-17, 27-24 and a few others, that bugs me a little bit. Not that im insulting the game but that seems a little farfetched.
Hey bay………..great to see you drop by……..
Tutle, he has a point……..that’s the way the contest is supposed to go.
It’s not total points off, but total points off from each team’s score.
Why hows it going Bay. Its cool just to see your handle. Strange game, but we came away with a WIN.
so then the contest should be guess the total of points by 2 teams, if not done pts off each team.
Bays formula is the way it should be. its simple really. Turtle, your throwing us all off!
As far as the contest goes, if its not broke don`t fix it. You cant change the rules, thats messed up.
Good morning strand, long time no see. Only question about Turtle is is he big enough to admit it?
Hey Bay……..wondering if you heard the new Broncos song and video I did up?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4TtKo-R7TUc&feature=plcp
Kod i gotta give you props on your songs man, they are very well done. 2 Thumbs up.
Thanks CB! It’s a fun thing to do!
Killer, no I had not, only time I stepped in was around the first preseason game, been AWOL til today when I decide to check in to see how the bloggers’ scoring contest would go (horror), and also still waiting to see how the website contest will be handled.
Rock on!!! You are obviously very talented, always love some good rock even so mine is the latter parts of the 60s and thru the 70s, but once in a while I can dig something out of the 80s, but not like B F E or strand, not my generational kind of rock, but I digress, great imagination and very inspirational stuff for our Denver Broncos, job well done!
I believe I predicted a 35-21 Broncos win so I would have been 6 pts off which should have beat OSS on last years version correct? I thought I had a decent guess but was shocked to see I didnt score any points lol Im playing either way though! When will Gray post the “official” winners??
Well Bay……..hope you’ll keep popping in now that the season is in full swing. What were your thoughts on the game?
yup, scalp, same as me….I predicted 30-24…….6 points off as well.
Bay, I hope you pop in the day after games. Just a little input. Have a good one!
You guys did well. I picked 34-20=4 points off. Man, to get points you really have to be on your game. HaHa!!
So next predition starts at noon MNT time today. This game might be a shoot out. I hear that Atlanta CB Grimes is out for the season. That leaves Samual and Robinson as the 2 starting CB`s.
*Samuel*
I’d say the official blog contest results will be up soon………
and I’d like to give a big shout out to Bay for initiating and running the contest on the blog the last few years…….I’m stoked the blog admin took my suggestion of making it an official blog contest, but the idea would’ve never happened if it weren’t for Bay holding the contest in the first place……..
Bay
I am sure you are enjoying your blog retirement. I am not as active as I used to be. I like Friday nights and when I am slow at work like now I pop in to read and post a little. KK song was cool. OC came up with a LONG LIVE THE NECK post that KK took off with it and did a Rap version and a Country version. Interesting off season. It was fun. Enjoy your self.
See you next time when ever that might be.
FTR
Howdy FTR!
It was awesome to see the faiders suck so bad last night……….and even better that the dolts looked pretty bad too……..I know we’ll kick both their a$$es this season!
So our Denver Broncos are tied for 8th in total Defense in week 1. Not bad considering we got burned on 3rd down frequently. Look for our D to get better as the season comes along.
Both teams looked shaky. Should be able to sweep our division from what we witnessed this weekend. Theres a good chance anyway.
ahh you didn’t get my prediction for the steelers game
i predicted 28-17. Did they announce the results of the “official” predictions? Also my Prediction for next week is Broncos Winning 34-13 in a blow out because of manning return to a dome. and Champ Bailey gets two Ints due to the fact that i predicted he would get one last week and now he has to make up for it.
Good Morning Broncos Country!!
Thanks for clarification with the score prediction contest bay… that’s the way it was run.
It will be interesting to see how Gray will run his contest on the blog.
Good to see you on here again! Like strand said, maybe you can pop in from time to time! In the past, it was great reading your breakdowns of the games the day after…(MMQ).
Everybodys different and we all have different viewpoints and so forth, but we’re all here for one reason… to support the Broncos!!
What a great game!! So much excitement at the stadium Sunday evening!!
Quite a few Steelers fans in the stands and alot of bantering back and forth.
Demaryius Thomas validated he is a gamebreaker and the kid can fly!! Steeler D was tough as usual, and they kept sending different blitzers with LeBeau’s zone blitz. Hat’s off to our O-line as they did a good job overall. Porters’ int was a backbreaker!! Totally awesome!!!
Former Patriot center brought in for depth. I also read at DP he has a connection with Coach Magazu from Boston College days.
GO BRONCOS!!!!!
KK
I always enjoy a raiders loss. I think we have the AFC west nailed. I was not able to watch the game but I recorded it and will watch it today.
GO BRONCOS!!
FTR
hey strand, is what you are posting from the contest that you and gray set up, or is it just for people posting on the blogs?
Because I said 31-17 in the contest that Gray set up, and I was not listed so i was wondering
sorry strand!!! i meant to write turtle but i last looked at your handle and that is the one i was thinking when i wrote it. turtle that question is for you
Morning Royal. Glad you had a blast! Rock On!
Good morning strand ! You’ve gotta make it up for a game this season!!
I was thinking about that this morning while taking my dog for a walk. That would be awesome. Do some tailgating. HaHa!!
Game Prediction
Broncos 34
Atlanta 17
Thanks for the contest, it makes the blog fun and,as witnessed by the response, competitive. Thanks Turtle and Gray
Today is a day to remember the most tragic attack ever perpetrated against our greatest of nations….we will never forget!!!!!
It is also a day to thank God that the evil perpetrators having malice and aforethought, have been kept at bay for 11 years.
I’ll bet Dennis Allen is just absolutely livid today as statistically the Faders beat the Chargers in nearly every category. (He coulda, woulda, shoulda, been a winner!!! Happy to have JDR!)
Never underestimate the importance of a good long snapper! LMAO
So stupid that nfl.com has the packers listed as 6 ahead of the Falcons and us on the power rankings. Yeah, they’re a great team, but based on the performances in the first games, both us and the falcons should be listed higher by virtue of the win…….specially us against last year’s top D.
Watch, they’ll lose again next week against the Bears and still be listed number 7 or something…….
