The Broncos thrilling season-opening victory led to a GMC Never Say Never Moment of the Week nomination for quarterback Peyton Manning, who played his first game in 20 months on Sunday.
Manning completed 19-of-26 passes for 253 yards and a pair of touchdowns to finish with a quarterback rating of 129.2. His yardage total and passer rating both were the highest by a Bronco quarterback in his debut with the team.
His first touchdown pass as a Bronco – a 71-yard screen to Demaryius Thomas – was the 400th of his career, making Manning just one of three players (Brett Favre and Dan Marino) to reach that milestone. Manning needed the fewest games and passing attempts to reach that exclusive club.
“It’s just one game,” Manning said after the win. “It’s a good start — it’s always fun to win Opening Night. What an awesome atmosphere, playing on primetime [and] the fans were rockin’.
“Don’t get me wrong,” he continued. “I know how hard I’ve worked and how many people have helped me in this process. I’m grateful, and I’m definitely appreciative of the moment and the opportunity.”
The other two nominees for the weekly award are the New York Jets, for their 48-point performance in a win over Buffalo and the Cowboys for becoming the first team to defeat the defending Super Bowl Champions on opening night since the league changed to its current opening-game format nine years ago.
Fans may vote for one of these three moments on NFL.com/gmc following Monday Night Football and ending on Friday at 1 PM MDT to determine the GMC Never Say Never Moment of the Week. The winner will be announced Friday during NFL Network’s “Around the League” show and then posted on NFL.com.
After the regular season, fans will have a chance to determine the GMC Never Say Never Moment of the Year, from among the 17 weekly winners. Fans can vote for the winner on NFL.com/gmc throughout the month of January.

My thinking on the game:
Turtle set it up – Turtle put in the labor – If you wish to play Turtles game…all are welcome…no one is forcing anyone.
If you don’t like the way Turtle set it up because it is different or whatever – it might be appropriate to ask questions for clarity, or to make suggestions, or even to make an appeal. It is also appropriate just not to play. No problem.
Bay – your slam was completely out of line. You could still be running it if you desired. I honestly hate feeling the need to say that to you. I’d rather be saying ‘you are missed’…’how about an eval on the game’…’welcome home’….
Some comments are looking like they saw game results from Gray’s official contest. Did I miss that someplace?
I saw some Bleacher rankings that had the Broncos as low as 17th and 14th. I think I’m happy to see the NFL.com rankings with Broncs at 8th. Also nice that Falcons are above us. That means – win….and we rise again!!!
Look out niners – we have the neck!!! It hikes, snaps, kicks, blocks, catches, runs (wasn’t that amazing), and throws. Tebow couldn’t do it all himself but the neck can!!!! LOL
Haven’t read naything but BTs opening. And Baylins rebutal before I decided to post. Lil dissapointed bay. Your valid point was lost on me just based on the way you presented it. Things might have cooled down between you guys in following posts but I just had to say that first. Much like anyone who does stuff on here, always should appreciate the effort they take out to do it. Theres constructive criticism … then theres that.
Later days, TRB
Never the less always great to see an old face like yours, also FTR and Royals. Strand and killer seem to still be pretty active tho but great to see yall too.
I was very impressed by the team alot. The defense was always fun to watch minus a few slip ups. Wish I could enjoy PRs more but that slow guy is killing it for me. Offense looks good. Hope DMT stays healthy. Hope Moreno finally shows us something. Love our receiving corp including TEs. Looking forward to Mondays game as my bros a Falcons fan.
Later Days, TRB
DB and TRB, Turtle spends countless hours assaulting and ridiculing others here and I slam him once and you guys are all offended…. that is definitely a big plus in my life not to be a part of all that righteous blogging anymore, that’s for sure, love you as always TRB and good day to both anyhow. GO BRONCOS!
I don’t keep up as much and you may be right Baylin about BTs approach but always saw you as more level headed and the bigger person. a Bit sarcastic and condescending but that just looked like pure obliteration. I am a little self righteous i know. Once again, always good seeing u and nothing but love.
Later days,
TRB
Hey Bay – actually, personality wise, Turtle is very much like you. He is witty in his cutting tone, universally fair at cutting most everyone, always up for a fair fight, fairly balanced in most of his opinions – though they cross some folks…very much like you. Yes, he is a bit more coarse…and probably ruffles a few more feathers…but mostly he ruffles the same feathers you ruffled.
I wouldn’t have said a thing except that…running the game is a heck of a lot of work! You know that better than anyone.
I was happy for you and Marshall.
Hey TRB…..good to see you………you’ve been somewhat MIA for a while. You would usually keep me company in the early mornings! hahaha
bay………..made a post directed to you earlier……..hope you got a chance to read it. Would also like to hear your take on the game……missing those game grades my friend.
How’s that grandbaby anyhow?
One of my best friends just got a boat. I get introduced to her on the 4th of Oct. We’ll be fishing out around Santa Rosa Island. I hope to go 30 times before this license expires.
Apparently, I come across a lot self-righteous. I don’t mean it. I would ask all to please forgive…. Sometimes the tone doesn’t come across right in blogging.
One thing I`ve leaned about Turtle, he has to have Kaos and turmoil in order to feel good about himself. He has to argue and pick on someone to get a reaction. Turtle, you gotta mellow out guy! There is constructive criticism and there`s attacking. All in the balance dude. Brutal truth!
*Learned*
new blog
Hey Strand!!!
Some folks think the fun is in the fight. LOL
At least they aren’t going to jail or doing physical damage to folks.
Theres a new blog everyone.
All I got to say (Cant believe im doing this) is that it is Turtles contest and while from what I am reading different from they way it was run last year it is still his doing this year and while (To me and others) the way hes doing it is off its his way and hes the one doing it so we all just have to accept that.
Manning is just like my GMC Denali, Classy and Reliable all the time.
Not only is he the BEST Player! He is such a Class Act!
WAshed up…. ? so what do all you nay sayers say how. Manning is still a star! Go Broncos, go Paeton.
