On Monday, quarterback Peyton Manning received his first yearly award nomination. He is one of three finalists for the FedEx Air NFL Player of the Year.
Fans can vote for one player in each category on NFL.com/FedEx until Friday, January 25 at 7 pm MT to determine the FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Year.
Manning was nominated for FedEx’s weekly award five times in 2012, including nominations in Weeks 16 and 17, and won the award in Week 17. He also took home conference player of the week awards in Weeks 6 and 17 and conference player of the month awards for October and December.
The nomination comes after Manning broke franchise records in nearly every single-season passing category during his first year as a Bronco.
The quarterback finished with 4,659 yards on 400-of-583 passing with 37 touchdowns and just 11 interceptions. His team records were in touchdown passes, completions, passing yards and completion percentage (68.6). His season passer rating of 105.9 was also a team record.
He also earned his 12th career Pro Bowl selection, the most by a quarterback in NFL history while becoming the first signal-caller to be selected to the squad after missing the previous season due to injury. He is also the 14th player in league annals (and the only quarterback) to make 10 consecutive Pro Bowls in years he played.
Manning led the team to 11 straight wins en route to a 13-3 regular-season record as the Broncos earned the No. 1 seed the AFC playoffs.
Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers are the other finalists for the award.
During the week leading up to Super Bowl XLVII, FedEx plans to announce the 2012 FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Year in New Orleans, as well as make a $25,000 donation in each winning player’s name to Junior Achievement offices in the their city. The funding is used to help U.S. small business development, by educating the next generation of entrepreneurs on how to start and grow their own businesses.

It shouldnt even be a contest… The man came back with the Broncos championship hungry team after 4 NECK surgeries. He could have been completely out of football, let alone any sport period for the rest of his life and he took the Broncos by the reigns and did what he set out to do. i have truly always though alots of peyton mannings when being the the colts. now he’s with the broncos. but due to his injury last year with the colts. and being out. coming back into the nfl and playing the way he has . he really deserved this honor.LET’S HEAR IT FOR MR. PEYTON MANNINGS

There is one facit that PM shines in besides on the field. That is CHARACTER. He did not act like a bitter person when the Colts decided money trumped loyalty, fan appreciation, and the lack of character by those management wonks who decided “he is to expensive, lets draft a cheaper clone of him”. These management wonks brushed over the times he had made money sacrifices to help keep then under the salary cap and sign another player.
All in all Denver fans and the Denver Business community won the equal of a “mega million” drawing when your management made the decision to get in the “hire PM line”.
I wanted to take my wife, who has never seen an NFL game, to see one of his games at Indy, when he had planned a return this year. My lost chance is a benefit to some Bronco fan.
The other nominations for the FEDEX award are excellent players but frankly they have not had to deal with anything close to the issues PM faced and overcame. So go PM and the rest of the Bronco team; it is time this team played in and won another Super Bowl !!!!

Was rooting for him in the Super Bowl. Liked Tom Brady also, but was sure Eli could do the job, as I liked him a little better. I am very sure you are going to do the same for us this year.
