Manning, McGahee Nominated for Awards

October 2nd, 2012 - 9:19am by Stuart Zaas

A pair of Broncos are up for weekly awards following Denver’s 37-6 victory vs. Oakland in Week 4. Quarterback Peyton Manning is nominated for the FedEx Air Player of the Week and running back Willis McGahee is nominated for the FedEx Ground Player of the Week.

Manning completed 30-of-38 passes for 338 yards and three touchdowns and no interceptions for a passer rating of 130.0. Manning’s passer rating led all players in Week 4 and his 338 passing yards represented the 65th 300-yard passing game of his career to extend his NFL record.

McGahee rushed for 112 yards and one touchdown on 19 carries (5.9 avg.) against the Raiders. Sunday marked the 32nd career 100-yard rushing game to move past Steven Jackson as the NFL’s active leader in career 100-yard games.

Fans can vote for one player in each category on NFL.com/FedEx through 1 p.m. MDT on Friday to determine the FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Week. The winners will be announced Friday on NFL Total Access on NFL Network and on NFL.com.

Fans will be voting for more than their favorite player. As part of the Air & Ground program and its commitment to small business owners, FedEx will support education efforts at Junior Achievement by making weekly $2,000 donations in each of the winning players’ names. The funding, allocated to local Junior Achievement area offices in that team’s city or state, is used to help U.S. small business development, by educating the next generation of entrepreneurs on how to start and grow their own businesses.

Looking at those clips on NFL.com, it seems like we better come out pretty stout against Brandon Bolden. I hope Mays can do some thumping there and that our guys up front can keep Brady’s offense one dimensional and we can just go after him late in the game. Of course, that means our offense will need to keep things close, but I’m not too worried about that. It’s not like we need any motivation or anything. :-)

I wanna see our D frustrate Brady so much that it forces him to have a huge blow-out with McHoodie! LMAO

Glad J. Mays is back in the line up for this game, a good shot on him early from Joe may just rattle him for the rest of the game. Go get him Joe.

Am I the only one on hear who thinks that Joe Mays lost his starting gig to Brookings this weekend? Has anyone noticed we have been getting killed in the middle of the field by TE’s and that didn’t happen last week? What changed? Oh yeah, the MLB was different.

Mays can’t cover and Brooking did a great job getting the right play called. Sure he is a little older and a little slower. However, he doesn’t bight as hard on playfakes and he covers better.

No one can cover Gronk but I like Brooking trying better than I like Mays trying.

    One man’s opinion I guess.

  9. AFCWesterner says:

Make that two man’s opinion, RH709.

  10. RH709 says:

Don’t get me wrong. I like Mays the person and he plays with heart for sure, the talent just isn’t there. Given his history, maybe he can still be coached. I know he works hard and he makes a more than capable backup but at this time he is not a starter and he was out played by Brooking.

Too bad you can’t edit posts. I really need to proof read before I hit send.
