Manning Leads Pro Bowl Votes

November 14th, 2012 - 2:07pm by Gray Caldwell

Voting for the 2013 Pro Bowl has been underway for about three weeks, and the early returns are in.

Quarterback Peyton Manning leads all vote-getters for the all-star game with 376,981 votes, and therefore is first in line at his position on the AFC squad.

Plenty more Broncos are among the top-five at their respective positions in the AFC, including outside linebackers Von Miller and Wesley Woodyard, who are one and two among AFC vote-getters.

The Broncos also have two wide receivers near the top of AFC voting — Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker are currently ranked Nos. 4 and 5 at their position.

Fullback Chris Gronkowski is currently No. 5 at his position, tight end Jacob Tamme is No. 5 at his position, Ryan Clady is No. 3 among AFC tackles, Zane Beadles is the second-highest vote-getter among AFC guards, center Dan Koppen is currently fourth in votes at his position, defensive end Elvis Dumervil ranks second, Champ Bailey is third among AFC cornerbacks, Rahim Moore is the fifth AFC free safety, Matt Prater is the No. 4 kicker, Britton Colquitt is the No. 4 punter, Trindon Holliday is the No. 5 returner and David Bruton is the No. 4 AFC special-teamer.

Voting is still open and will wrap up on Monday, Dec. 17 at the end of all Week 15 games. Fans can vote as many times as they want.

The teams will be announced at 5 p.m. MST Wednesday, Dec. 26 on NFL Network’s “Total Access”. The rosters are decided by a combination of votes from fans, players and coaches, with each group’s consensus vote counting as one third towards the final list.

The 2013 Pro Bowl will be played on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013 and televised live on NBC at 5 p.m. MST from Aloha Stadium in Honolulu.

Last season, Denver sent six players to Hawaii. Rookie Von Miller made his first appearance along with defensive end Elvis Dumervil, cornerback Champ Bailey, running back Willis McGahee, tackle Ryan Clady and safety Brian Dawkins. McGahee totaled 43 all-purpose yards, Miller notched six tackles and a sack and Bailey recovered a fumble and made three takcles.

  8. raidrhadr says:

Put it this way peeps. T Palamalu leads the voting in his position. HE’S PLAYED IN 2 GAMES THIS YEAR REALLY????. Done with the Pro Bowl.

  9. raidrhadr says:

Here are some cool stats. Not that they are everything but…here goes.

Denver’s defense is #6 overall in the league

    11th vs the pass
    10th vs the run
    10th points against
WE LEAD THE LEAGUE WITH 31 SACKS!!!!! (Can’t remember the last time that happened)

Denver’s offense is #2 overall in the league

    3rd passing
    22nd rushing (ugh)
    2nd in scoring
1st in sacks against. (tied with the Texans…11)

Stats don’t always say everything about a team. The last time we had stats like this was the ’05 season but we didn’t have PFM or Von. Prior to that was the late ’90s when we had Elway and won 2 SBs although the defense was middle of the pack if my memory serves me correctly.

IMO, if we throttle SD, soundly beat TB and the Ravens and kill everone else…I think at least an appearance in the SB is inevitable.

LOOKS LIE HAWAII WILL BE FULL WITH BRONCOS..OH MAN CANT WAIT FOR THAT SINCE THATS WHERE IM FROM..GO BRONCOS

  11. DBFanFromAzViaMd says:

Hope Hawaii misses out on a bunch of Broncos. If Broncos are in Hawaii that means they didn’t go to New Orleans.

  12. DBFanFromAzViaMd says:

Would be nice to see a bunch get the opportunity to decline the Hawaii appearance though.

  13. DaddyBronc says:

Pretty funny – the hoopla over Holiday’s flipping the ball into the endzone.

He is always so far out in front…I see him stopping before the goal line and stretching the ball over until the refs hands go up…then he flips. LOL …just before he picks it up and runs the ball back to Foxy. LOL

  14. BRONCOSONMINE says:

AT DBFanFromAzViaMd YEAH YOU RIGHT..AND WE ALL CON HONESTLY SAY THIS YEAR OUR BRONCOS CAN MAKE THE SUPERBOWL…

  15. BRONCOSONMINE says:

    CAN**

  16. BRONCOSONMINE says:

BUT EVERY YEAR I ALWAYS HAD THEM IN THE SUPERBOWL..EVEN WHEN TEBOW WAS STARTING AND ORTON

  17. raidrhadr says:

    New blog

  18. Ethan says:

Too bad none of the broncos are making it to the probowl……. Instead we going to da superbowl

  19. Schmidtbowl says:

I know NOBODY wants to hear this. The Broncos best shot to make, and hopefully Win, the Super Bowl may not be this year. They have 3 years with P. Manning as a guess, and he will be even better next year. In order to beat the Patriots, they will need a better run game. Picture a playoff game against Houston, Baltimore, or New England when the weather doesn’t permit 35 throws per game. The Broncos Super Bowl winning years saw the team run out the 4th qtr by controlling the ball on the ground late in games. The league is different now, no doubt, but when it’s 10 degrees with sleet/snow, P. Manning will be less of a factor than he is right now. BUILD THAT RUNNING GAME.

Now, in response to you guys yelling at me. I think they have a shot this year…I simply think it gets better each of the next 2. After that, let’s just hope we do better at QB than Griese and Orton.
