Lyons Earns His Spot

May 3rd, 2010 - 3:33pm by Gray Caldwell

On Friday, Dicky Lyons stepped onto the practice field at Dove Valley for a tryout. Three days later, he officially signed with the team as a free agent.

The team also waived rookie running back Chris Brown, who signed as a college free agent from the University of Oklahoma.

Lyons is a first-year wide receiver from the University of Kentucky. He finished his career at Kentucky with 141 receptions for 1,752 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns, ranked fifth, fourth and third, respectively, in school history.

He became the first Wildcat to post multiple touchdown receptions in three consecutive games as a sophomore in 2006.

He went to Holy Cross High School in New Orleans, where he totaled nearly 2,000 receiving yards and returned 15 kicks for touchdowns during his career.

BA…I agree Moss is a big disappointment,Crowder was pretty good, but not that good either.IMO

  2. Orange_Crusher says:

Aussie, I been playin rock guitar for about 23 years… I Love to Rock!!!

  3. BeastFromEast92 says:

OC…if strandoft can sing, were all set,but we gotta keep lots of cold ones on hand, cause like I said,I gotta be plastered before I can play the drums.LOL

  4. BeastFromEast92 says:

    *strandoftds

  5. BroncoAussie says:

Only 23 years OC? Here in Australia you come out of the womb to the tune of Thunderstruck, TNT or Highway to hell.

And yes BFE I can play a lot of instruments too when on the golden sauce haha and yes Moss and Crowder really could not get it done.

  6. BeastFromEast92 says:

Hey just came from an airband show, where my kids go to school, and the last song was AC/DC Back in Black, and the kid that was playing Angus got on his back on the floor and cranked doughnuts while playing guitar.AWESOME…I LOVE ME SOME AC/DC.

  7. BroncoAussie says:

Haha got to love that BFE.

  8. Orange_Crusher says:

Moss and Crowder may proove to be Shans miscue’s but I sure hope that OLB Ayers can prove to be a success for McD’s sake..

I am going to watch his play closely this year to determine if we busted on this pick because I don’t think it takes two years of bench riding for a first round LB to become a heavy hitting contributor to the team… I want to see MAJOR improvement out of Ayers in his second year as a STARTER…..!

I want to see Ayers BLOW someone up on a tackle… IF he is a “Run Stopper” or “TE Hammer” Then he should be blowing runners/TE’s up! If I don’t see some BIG TIME HITS coming out of Ayers this season then I’m going to think he is weak and afraid to hit someone in the mouth?…. I saw CB Champ hitting WAY harder than LB Ayers last year… jomho

Dawk needs to train Ayers how to EXPLODE someone up with a tackle…!

  9. BroncoAussie says:

OC I do want to see improvement out of Ayers this year but he didn’t do to bad last year. His stats don’t so it but he did some very good things. DC Wink even said so himself. If you look at some of his plays from last year he managed to help collapse the pocket and push the QB out to the outside. And in some cases into the waiting arms of Doom.

He did ok, but he needs to pick it up and get some sacks.

  10. Orange_Crusher says:

I didn’t mean to say Ayers second year as a starter, rather in his seoncd year and starting.

  11. BroncoAussie says:

Yeah I sort of got that, with him starting you want to see more improvement, I was saying yes, want to see more improvement, but in the time he saw last year he didn’t do to bad. And I only think he can get better, I don’t think he is a bust.

  12. Orange_Crusher says:

Ayers wasn’t a starter last year and I understand his limited roll but I just want to see a lot of explosive tackling out of him this year as his presence on the left side OLB’s is the area of the field that most right handed QB’s and good slot recievers and TE’s get their groove on and that is where Ayers needs to be Blowing players up…

I guess I’m calling him out to get his motor running and blow some players up this year…! Ayers has Gotta Be A Hamma!!!…….. like the Hamma would probably say…lol

    ILMSDB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  13. BroncoAussie says:

Ok, I follow, so you want him to blow some players up? I think that is the message I am getting haha. I think he will do well, I hope he does.

  14. Orange_Crusher says:

    BroncoAussie,

    Are you in Australia..

  15. Orange_Crusher says:

    ?

  16. BroncoAussie says:

Haha yes, as the name suggests.

  17. Orange_Crusher says:

Wow! We have Bronco Family all the way down under….!!!! that’s soo totally awesome!!!

One of my favorite guitar teachers at Musicians Institute was Brett Garsed from Australia…

I am learning from the blog that the Broncos have fans in the UK (UKB) and Australia… wow, do you have any Bronco friends out there? Are you in a big city with other Bronco friends that you can watch the game with? Who’s you and your friends favorite Bronco of all time? What time is it in Australia?

  18. BeastFromEast92 says:

Ayers will “BLOW” people up this year, when they take the chains off and unleash the Beast.I followed him in college(Tenn) he can flat out hit,but remember he was a DE in college, and is transitioning into a hybrid OLB,I think he’ll be a LOT better this year, and I look for big things outta him,he needs to earn that 5 mil this year.

  19. BroncoAussie says:

Haha OC, it is just after 12 here so lunch time. Not really any die hard Broncos fans here but I have friends I play football with that also follow the NFL. And not a big city, Canberra, nice place. My favorite Bronco is Champ Bailey. And been around here for a while, good old Andrew Mason did a good job setting this site up and making a good blogging community.

And it is very hard for me to watch games, as they are not televised here, we get some games, but mostly Monday night games and pats and colts games. So have to stream games which the NFL doesn’t like but I can’t see games any other way.

  20. Orange_Crusher says:

Ayers Could be the REAL BEAST…. that’s the energy I’m trying to create BFE..! Oh yeah!!

    BFE from Tennessee…. uh, huh..

  21. BeastFromEast92 says:

    OC….LMAO

  22. BroncoAussie says:

    Watch this

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVJYQ99Ufe4

Ayers was what Brandon Graham was this year.

  23. BeastFromEast92 says:

BA…my youngest son(14) is Champs biggest fan.

  24. Orange_Crusher says:

thanks BroncoAussie, my curiosity overfloweth at times…. It’s about 8:30pm in my zone. I just think it is soo cool to have Bronco friends around the world…. !!

I LOVE ME SOME DENVER BRONCOS!!!!!!!

  25. BroncoAussie says:

Yeah I get asked those questions alot people are just surprised about it. But it is cool. And BFE Champ is the best, even though people say Darrelle Revis is the best CB, Champ only had 1 TD scored on him last year, Revis had 2.

  26. BeastFromEast92 says:

Yeah I got the privelege of watching Ayers and Al Wilson at Tenn.Ayers asked Wilson if he could wear the #56 after becoming a Bronco and Wilson gave his approval. That’s what we need is a LB like Al Wilson, now he was a natural born leader, like Dawk, but a LB,and layed some wood.

  27. BeastFromEast92 says:

Yeah some people say Champ lost a step,I say he is still the best Corneback in the NFL.

  28. Orange_Crusher says:

    Gray Caldwell,

We have honest and true Bronco fans in Canberra Australia that don’t get to see the game on Sunday.. Is there any way for the Broncos to get the game all the way out to Canberra and establish a BroncoAussie team austraila HQ or just get the game to these guys around the world?

    ILMSDB!!!

  29. FTR says:

Dicky Lions — I wish for you to never give up and believe dreams can come true if you are willing. And if you want a role model mixed in with some Bronco tradition then who else to follow then!!
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ankz_IobV6c
Just ask him—He will be roaming the sidelines!
    Go Broncos.
    FTR

  30. Samoanbronco says:

    Cheerleaders with ab’s Mmmmmmmmmmmm lol

  31. Samoanbronco says:

I agree OC – we are 2-3 hours ahead of BA but we pretty much share the same feed from ESPN Pacific which sucks @ss. Live feeds via the internet is just too much for our pathetic network in NZ.. We just upgraded from the 2 cups and string! lol

  32. BroncoAussie says:

Haha Samoan too funny, yes I have asked the Broncos organization if it would be possible to get games streamed on this website, but they can’t because of TV deals.

  33. Samoanbronco says:

By looks of the schedule we will only get one game on MNF.. hope flexi week gives us another one

  34. BroncoAussie says:

Yep so I will get only one game on free to air TV, one hd got to love it, and maybe two if it gets flexed, so it has to be streaming.

  35. Samoanbronco says:

The Yanks don’t know how good they got it lol

  36. BroncoAussie says:

Oh yeah I know lucky buggers, but we get league and Origin, but I would love to see more Broncos games. I got to see 3 games last year and I had to watch the rest online.

  37. BeastFromEast92 says:

Yeah, now that’s a true fan for ya,only one game this year he gets to watch, and still a loyal fan, here’s to ya BA…

    We all ain’t Yanks.LOL

  38. BeastFromEast92 says:

FTR…I hear ya bro…and you got that right.

  39. BroncoAussie says:

Haha yeah BFE, I watch alot of highlights and try to stream as much as possible but the NFL trys to shut all that down. Really they are just closing out their overseas market. One day they will realize that online is the way to go to get more overseas people involved.

  40. BeastFromEast92 says:

BA…I heard that,I feel for ya bro,I can remember when I was a kid all we had was free on air tv,I got like 2 games a week, and the Broncos were never on,that bites man, maybe we start doing something about it,if we can help in any way, just let us know what to do bro.

  41. BeastFromEast92 says:

    It’s all about the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

  42. BroncoAussie says:

That is what I thought BFE, it is all about money, but why not use the untapped overseas market? Other people are already using their stuff and making money, it is wasted profit. One of these days the NFL will be streamed online and I can see all my Broncos, but for now I make due.

    And thanks BFE.

  43. BeastFromEast92 says:

I agree televise it Worldwide, have to make more money, but they do things stupid around here sometimes.I have to admire you my friend, don’t give up,maybe one of these days you get your wish.

You are welcome, and with that said,I’ll blog at ya later,it’s past midnight here where I am,gotta get up early.

  44. BroncoAussie says:

Haha ok BFE, catch you laters

  45. Samoanbronco says:

Your not worng there BFE… I was for a while listening to the games through KOA online and I made the mistake of telling them how great it was to be avle to listen to thier coverage online.

Next thing I know, I couldn’t listen to the games anymore because of some BS about information that was deemed sensitive or was not meant for overseas.. I was like WTF??? Com’on Rice waddup wid dat???… so i struggle to find a game to listen to as SNF and MNF are played on a Monday and Tuesday over hear, so I have to listen to it at work.. if the Broncos play then I hope they are on MNF or SNF so I can watch the game in the aftrenoon.

Hard being a Bronco fan overseas…

  46. BroncoAussie says:

Oh yeah Samoan live is tough, I got a question for America Broncos fans, some that are local to Denver, how much do you guys pay to watch a full season of Broncos games, do you have to pay extra for cable? Or is it free to air for you guys?

  47. BroncoAussie says:

    *life

  48. Samoanbronco says:

    Good question!

  49. BroncoAussie says:

Yeah I want to know how much it costs for them to get NFL games, because there is NFL game pass on NFL.com, which cost $250 America dollars plus for us, which is something we can’t foot because most of the games are in the morning for us. Would be good if it was pay for what you watch or could do the good thing and be FREE!

But I don’t trust the NFL.com site, in their terms and conditions they say they share your personal information between their companies and that they have REASONABLE security, thanks for the vote of confidence.

  50. Caribbean Boi says:

    BA…

All of them show on regular local channels so they’re free.
