Lloyd Returns, Spann Debuts

August 25th, 2009 - 1:52pm by Zach Eisendrath

After sitting out the final few practice sessions of training camp and the club’s preseason game at Seattle on Saturday night, Brandon Lloyd returned to the practice field on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, a day after being claimed off waivers from Buffalo, Antwain Spann — donning jersey No. 41 — made his debut at Dove Valley.

good to hear lloyd is back

  2. brian_schneider says:

Is Marshall’s hamstring healed up now or is it still lingering?

  3. DoomervilRocks92 says:

Is Spann going to help our secondary or not?

  4. Torain ATV fan says:

he has not been hurt 4 awhile. just did not learn playbook.

  5. whitebronco#1 says:

I’d love to have some news about Sims.

This report, compared to the others, is poor. What about players absent, returning (besides Lloyd), nice plays, scout team, the playlist?? Come on guys!

    Go Broncooos!

  6. DoomervilRocks92 says:

    Any updates on Moreno?

  7. PhotoHoundAK says:

Yes, info please on Simms and Moreno!

    Collecting more and more X-Pats…

  9. Bones1965 says:

Just a question for u fans does anyone like McDaniels when he gives his smug answers about injured players?

I get what he is trying to do, but we know Simms has an ankle injury so why not share what his progress is. Coach the other team knows too.

This just in the Broncos traded a #3 pick for Coach Belichicks dog spike.

  10. BroncoAussie says:

Man what a small update, can’t we have any other news? Zach come on there has to be something else? or is the team under tight wraps for this weeks game?

  11. Torain ATV fan says:

I love what McDaniels does with injury reports. Granted, it sucks for us, but it does not tell the team we are going to play where to attack that player.

  12. Torain ATV fan says:

i rather that happen than our player getting hurt worse if someone goes after that injury.

  13. George Bush says:

Can anybody tell me what the 50 on the jerseys relates to?

  14. BroncoAussie says:

    50th Anniversary of the broncos

  15. George Bush says:

Oh dear not another Millenium balls-up celebrating one year early. 2009 is the 50th year not the 50th Anniversary.

  16. pacohlgs78 says:

I believe that coverage was only during training camp

  17. TheRoyalBeast says:

I personally dont like when he gives his smug answer about injuries but every coach has they style and i guess thats his. Anyway, I personally dont like McD, like I said once before, when I see him in interviews he always strikes me as a D*ck not to mention his non verbal communication screams, IM LYING!!! Anyway, neither here nor there

Glad to see Bmarsh out there. In his last interview that had peopel bashing him. From wat I saw he was really hard on himself and understood that he needed to learn the playbook and improve. Thats what I took from it. Lets hope I am right and he learns and is ready to go agaisnt Chicago.

The Season Is Ours For The Taking
    GO BRONCOS!!!

  18. Dynamicdave says:

The only info I could find on Simms was that the injury was a high ankle sprain but that it wasn’t that serious and he would be probable for the Chicago game. The word initially on Moreno was that he would be out for a couple of weeks (it’s been that), so it’s my guess that he is ready to play. The question is “do you want to risk him?” It would help if McD would be a little more upfront about injuries. His “being secretive” is to shut out the media, but it also shuts out the fans which is lame. As a person who bets $$ at the sports book in Vegas, it bears a direct bearing on the outcome of the game and point spreads. Hard to bet money when you never know who’s going to start, etc..

  19. monodono says:

Did anyone else like what they saw in T.J.Duckett when The Broncos played The Seahawks? I think He would be perfect for this O. He’s a big bruising single cut running back I think He s 250+ lbs. The Seahawks signed Edgerrin James and waived T.J. Duckett.

    TIME OF POSSESSION ! ! !

    GO BRONCOS ! ! !

  20. Dynamicdave says:

Pick up TJ and get rid of Thomas (RB).

Yeah, I don’t like the way McD refuses to update about injuries. I bet on games, here in Vegas, and not knowing if an injured player will play, can affect the point spread and the amount of money a fan could win or lose, depending on the how the case may be. I understand his reasoning, but it still hurts the betting line and the gamblers chances at winning.

  21. brian_schneider says:

So we got an O-lineman from NE for undisclosed draft picks in 2010. Do we even have any draft picks for 2010? Seems like were getting rid of a lot, but that leads me to believe something may possibly be in the works for Marshall and getting some of those picks back?? Just a thought.

  22. DoomervilRocks92 says:

Why do we need more RB’s? I know it’s preseason, but we got a fast one in Moreno, a bruiser in Hillis, and two backfield catchers in Buckhalter and Jordan. Those are the ones that will make the roster.

  23. DoomervilRocks92 says:

How does everyone think the Marshal fiasco will work out?

  24. broncofan96 says:

why waste the time and money on T.J Duckett when we have a younger faster bruiser in Hillis.

  25. Dynamicdave says:

DoomervilRocks92, I learned a long time ago that trying to figure out what is going on in the internal workings of the Broncos is like looking for the needle in the haystack. They never offer us any info (which I understand from the business side, but the fans get hosed). So far it looks like Marshall will stay. They moved him to 1st string. Now, Whether that is just to help to give him value for a trade, who knows? However, I’m starting to think he will be staying. We, as fans, are the ping pong balls of the Broncos. We are at their emotional mercy.

  26. Dynamicdave says:

Getting T.J. is still a good idea. I thing Denver will keep mor e then just Hillis, bucky, Jordan and Moreno. After last year, we need a full arsenal. Having another huge back is helpfull. I’m just saying that Thomas didn’t impress me in his 1st showing. Walker looked good, though.

  27. TheRoyalBeast says:

Like I said, I think he is a d*ck….anywho, TJ Duckett might have thrived in Shannies running system but not so much in McDs. Plus i think he would be a better power back than Lamont Jordan but McD just loves surrounding himself with ex patriots….like he needs spies in the lockeroom. wouldnt put it beyond him tho, he comes from a pat system known for cheatin

  28. Dynamicdave says:

Now, now, TRB. play nice, ha, ha.

Hey, I read this on CBS$. It was an interview with Elway, talking about the preseason and also about how the Denver fans will respond to Cutler and how it compared to when he had to go back and play in Baltimore.
    He said:

“It was probably one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had; going back into Baltimore. But I think the difference is they are coming back here in a preseason game whereas we went back there the second game of the regular season,” Elway said. “Plus I think that Broncos fans probably have a little bit more class than the Colts fans did.”

Wow, don’t plan on any vacation to Baltimore in the future, John, ha, ha.

  29. Dynamicdave says:

    Meant, “CBS4″

  30. whitebronco#1 says:

Now we have a Marcus Thigpen (RB) and a Marcus Thomas (RB), and I’d better have TJ Duckett in the roster than both of them.

And I think McD is secretive with injuries, because the media is too much into what’s happening with the Broncos, to make a whole drama about it. Think about it… “QB Chaos in Denver! McDanniel’s last hope, Simms, now injuried. How will he survive his first headcoach job without Simms and also injuried Moreno?!!” (Dukes’ sign here).

The deal for this new O-lineman from NE wasn’t undisclosed, and wasn’t for many picks. It was just one, a 7th round pick. Which we had gotten previously when we got Le Kevin (and NE’s 2010 7th round pick) for our 2010 5th round pick. So, at the end we got Le Kevin and the new O-lineman for a 5th round pick (the 7th round pick came and went, with no difference).

Now that I put it down, it doesn’t sound that bad. Two experienced players with knowledge of the system for a 5th round pick?… now I’m even doubting if my info is accurate. Some help here pls, anyone?

  31. mad_orange_devil_27 says:

Spann is a special teams specialist, I’ve seen a few holes worthy enough of signing this guy to compete. The defense is still working out the kinks as far as lining up in the correct position, hopefully they can figure it out soon, but otherwise I’ve been impressed with how they work out of this defensive scheme being so new at it.

  32. mad_orange_devil_27 says:

I love the official sites P.R. with Brandon Marshall in every group of photos, making sure he’s got a big smile full of teeth.

He’s had plenty of problems in the past but so did Randy Moss, now Moss is thriving in daddy’s scheme of things. I understand shipping off “what’s his name” to Chicago, he’s like that screaming kid in the mall that you want to shut up, but Marshall is under an entirely different set of circumstances. He’s too talented to let go.

  33. broncofan96 says:

what do you guys think about signing ingle martin

  34. mad_orange_devil_27 says:

    broncofan96-

Too bad he’s about a year behind, he’s there to keep Orton on the bench.

  35. Dynamicdave says:

mad_orange_devil_27, you lost me? Who’s there to keep Orton on the bench? Ingle Martin? Are you referring to the final game against the Cards? I can see that. They don’t want to play Orton and you can’t play Brandstater the whole game. Martin is a temporary band-aid and once Simms is healthy, Martin is gone.

  36. DoomervilRocks92 says:

I wish that either Marshal would get traded or the team would come out and say they’re not trading him.

  37. DoomervilRocks92 says:

If Bradstater had played more in the first game vs. 49er’s, he would be able to play better. I don’t understand why they didn’t play him then. The only reason he even played in the 2nd game was because Simms got hurt.

  38. TheRoyalBeast says:

I dunno if yall listen to espn radio, but eddie royal was on there for a quick phone interview talking about things like team progress, orton, expectations, jay cutler and the bears, and of course Bmarshall. heard it on the radio when I was on the road. But im sure their are online links of it

  39. whitebronco#1 says:

DoomervilRocks92- I agree. I’d like to see Bradstater play more in this preseason games. He needs to feel and get used to he speed of the game at this level, so he can really catch what’s about with the system and the playbook, what’s the real meaning of doing this or that.

And I wouldn’t keep Orton on the bench for a whole game. He still needs the practice to improve and build chemistry with his team, at least for 1 quarter each game.

  40. DoomervilRocks92 says:

We won’t be able to see his fulll potential if he doesn’t play. I think he might be our future quarterback, but the only way that’s going to happen is if he gets playing time.

  41. DoomervilRocks92 says:

Orton does need playing time each game. He needs to learn the system if we want to win games this year.

  42. DoomervilRocks92 says:

Does anyone know any info aobut the new QB we signed?

  43. BRONCOBAILEY99 says:

Yes, his name is Ingle…. (weird)… That’s all [I] know… when I found out we signed him, I was like “WHO?”… He’s just a fill in for now…

  44. whitebronco#1 says:

The team needed a QB for the scout team… maybe he will done #6.
