On a lighter note, I watched the vid of some guys conditioning at Red Rock. Holy !@#$ that would be crazy difficult. I can't believe Barrett did the wheelbarrow up them. Dude must have some crazy upper body strength. I'd be worried about tumbling face first on my way down.

There's no denying that McDaniels instigated the whole Cutler deal, intentionally or not. Look, Bowlen probably agreed that the team needed a major overhaul after the past few years and probably handed McD the keys to the team and told him to drive, and to set his own route. However, I firmly believe that if McD had told Pat that the first thing he'd do was look to upgrade the qb position, Josh wouldn't be our head coach right now. Call it a hunch. And it's true Cutler could/should have handled the situation differently, but he's a young man with an understandibly inflated ego. Hopefully we got the better end of the deal, but only time will tell. But we can't cry over spilled milk, we just gotta move on.

Those unrestricted free agents you speak of are at training camp working with the team. Those unrestricted free agents aren't facing possibly facing further league disciplinary action for off field issues with the law.
If McDaniels really wanted Matt Cassel he could have gotten him. The Chiefs would have taken Cutler for Cassel any day of the week.
All I'm saying is you can't always just blame one person. If that's the case we should all blame John Elway for aging and retiring because he hadn't done that he would still be our QB and we'd still be winning Super Bowls. We should blame TD for tearing his ACL and retire early. We should blame Atwater, Smith, MaCaffery, all those guys for retiring, cuz now we don't have a good team. That's all I'm saying is it's not all McDaniels fault. Maybe Culter should've stepped up and silenced McDaniels in his own system.

First of all brian_schneider, it was McDaniels fault that Cutler is no longer here. He went after Matt Cassel and wasn't able to get him. If he was content with Cutler from the beginning, the offense wouldn't be in shambles right now.

Second, McDaniels is responsible for bringing in a lot of unrestricted free agents, and giving many of them more money that BMarsh is making. Wouldn't that turn your head?

Third, if signing UFA is as simple as McD makes it look, then why not throw some coin toward the talent you already have?

Fourth, teams win games, but teams with talent go much further!

Fifth? There are no fifth downs in football! Ha!

Look at us we're like a bunch of Raiders fans the way we're at each other's throats. Everyone seems to hatin' on McDaniels. It wasn't his fault Cutler didn't return Pat's phone calls. I don't know what conversation took place between them but whatever. It isn't McDaniels that is making Marshall holdout for more money. Everyone's getting mad because fo those two incidents, TWO incidents. Pat Bowlen is the one that signs the paychecks, probably not, he has his payroll people stampl his signature, but he is the one that pays the money. To all the people that wanted Cutler to stay he's a punk kid that has some growing up to do. To all the people that want Marshall to stay, pool your money together and give it to Pat Bowlen so he can put it towards a new contract. I do hope that Marshall stays if he stays out of trouble and healthy, and gets his attitude adjusted. Everyones getting mad about what seems like a trivial solution, just give him a new contract. I'm sure it isn't that easy with Marshalls case. If he was healthy, and not in trouble with the law he probably would have one rignt now. He'd be at camp learning with everyone else that gets paid less than he does.
I would rather have a front office that isn't afraid to stand up to their players than a front office that just dishes out the money and gets nothing in return. In my opinion more franschise souldn't be so quick to dish out big bucks for players, no matter how good they think they are. Plus, we're in a recession, that might have something to do with it also. I doubt that Bowlen is going to put this franshise in financial jeporday for one or two players. When you start letting the players call the shots, that's when you are no longer a franshise or a team. I don't know why everyone is getting so upset about things that weren't entirely McDaniels or Bowlen's fault. When some of the players in the league start acting like Pros then they should be considered for pay raises. The next thing you know college free agents are going to want millions of $$ for their signings. Where do we draw the line, and what is going to happen when the salary cap goes away? I'll tell you, the poor teams will suck, and the rich teams will become the Yankees of football. Eveyone's worried about one player, one guy, he doesn't make the team. Oh yeah and Marshall already posted a "farewell blog" Which means he probably had no intention on staying.

I think if things had stayed the same this year (still shanny and still cutler) we woulda done better with a defensive overhaul. But that didn't happen and no changing the past. I personally feel this team is going in the opposite direction but I haven't seen em play a game yet so what do i know

With that being said, the reason I am hopeful for this season is the reason we lost a lot of gimmes last year....ANY GIVEN SUNDAY!!! We were a pretty superior team last year, just inconsistent as hell with a lot of injuries.

Glad Orton has a familiar face in Brandon Lloyd. I pray Marshall stays. And I pray we make the post season and maybe the Superbowl. Kyle Orton has my support cuz he reminds me of Plummer and I am a Plummer fan.

PS: McD is a Douche bag till he proves different
ORANGE CRUSH ALL DAY!!!
GO BRONCOS!!!

broncochick1, almost everyone's defense was superior to the broncos last year if you want to look at it that way, you are correct. The point is that you said Orton had a superior defense when he did not have a very good defense LAST year in Chicago and he was still able to take them to the playoffs. That was what you said earlier. Royalbroncofan1, over the years yes Chicago has had awesome defenses, I agree, but this was not the case last year, it doesn't matter about the injuries.

bronco chick
the stats on ben and ortan were only to show that a fair QB can win the super bowl.
But if you like, pitts was the top d this year. yards per play pitt was #1 @ 3.9 and the bears ware #6 @ 4.9, so the 'BETTER D' don't cut it. What matters is until ortan pulls some real bone head plays I am going to back him. and yards per play shows more ABOUT a deff than scoring points (inc. spl teams) against them. den was 6.1 yards per play.
den O was #2 in yards, but #16 in scoring. The DENVER BRONCOS scored 370 points last year. THE BEARS SCORED 375. Very interesting!!

As far as the #1 draft pick. Is it better to have a person in camp and being trained by a pro coach or waiting a year while he is in school? IMO he gets one years training (vs the next year player) and a big jump on the starting job.

2Champ. I will give you that. JMAC can coach the hell out of a quarterback no doubt. Hopefully, he can coach Orton. Listen I am hoping for a great season and in a lot of ways I am really happy Cutler is gone. I just hope we get Marshall to camp and shock some people with our new team. Just a little concerned. But that's why you play the games right??? Plus it makes for some fun on the blogs while nothing is happening at practice. I also agree your QB does not have to have an amazing arm like Cutler or even Elway to be great. I think Brady, Big Ben and Joe Montana are or were pretty good players.
