After another Broncos punt, the Lions marched down the field for another score just before the half.
Matthew Stafford hit Calvin Johnson on a screen pass, and the receiver was hit hard by D.J. Williams and fell backwards to the 1-yard line. The play was reviewed, as it looked like Johnson might have fallen on Robert Ayers’ foot, keeping him off the ground as he reached the ball toward the end zone.
But Johnson was ruled down, and the Lions handed off to Maurice Morris for a leaping, 1-yard touchdown run on the next play.
That makes it 24 consecutive points for the Lions to close out the first half. They lead 24-3.
Denver received the ensuing kickoff with 29 seconds left, and the Broncos ran four plays — the second of which was a quarterback sack — to bring the game to halftime.
