After the Lions’ touchdown, the Broncos quickly punted the ball back after a three-and-out. Detroit wasn’t much more successful, grabbing a quick first down on their ensuing possession before being forced to punt back to Denver.
The Lions did capitalize off the Broncos’ next punt, however, driving 42 yards down the field in seven plays, finishing off the drive with a 50-yard Jason Hanson field goal.
The drive was spurred on by a 21-yard scramble by Matthew Stafford, with 15 yards tacked on due to an unnecessary roughness penalty on the Broncos.
Brian Dawkins had tight coverage on the third-down pass that fell incomplete, setting up the long field goal.
Detroit now leads 10-3 with 14:44 remaining in the second quarter.
