Kuper to Miss 4-6 Weeks

August 14th, 2012 - 2:30pm by Gray Caldwell

During Tuesday’s morning practice, guard Chris Kuper suffered a left forearm fracture. He is expected to fully recover within four to six weeks.

Kuper was in the process of returning to the lineup after recovering from an injury suffered in Week 17 of the 2011 season. As he worked his way back to the first unit, he often split reps at right guard with Manny Ramirez, a sixth-year lineman who has started 15 of his 20 NFL games played.

If Kuper returns in four weeks, he would presumably be part of the team’s preparation for its Week 2, Monday Night Football matchup in Atlanta. Six weeks from today is Sept. 25, leading up to the Broncos’ Week 4 home game against the Oakland Raiders.

Kuper was one of three players who left Tuesday’s practice early, along with running back Ronnie Hillman (hamstring) and defensive end Jason Hunter (triceps).

In addition, safety Jim Leonhard (knee), safety Quinton Carter (hamstring and knee), linebacker Keith Brooking (hamstring), cornerback Tracy Porter (illness), linebacker Danny Trevathan (ankle) and wide receiver Tyler Grisham (knee) did not participate in Tuesday’s practice. Defensive tackle Ty Warren was excused for “a family situation.”

“You’re concerned about all of them — you’d like them out there because this is how we get better,” Fox said of the injured players before the severity of Kuper’s injury was announced. “But we take a next-man-up approach, and it gives the guys behind them an opportunity.”

I couldn’t log in either and thought I’d been banned!

  2. Romi Rome says:

Dang it dude is a beast hope he gets back soon!

  3. sndvl says:

That is probably the funniest thing I’ve seen in a long time TIcat. Thank you for sharing….
I haven’t laughed out loud like this in such a long time! “He knows”…. Brilliant!!!!!

Looks like this is the end of the road for Omon, not being eligible for the practice squad again.. He seems like a good kid, and he does look like a beast so far. Seems like he and Moreno both have their backs up against the wall, hopefully it will bring out the best in both of them. I’m very curious to see how the RB situation shakes out.

I know!!!!!! I could not stop laughing. I’m going to have to watch it a few more times. He is so funny.

  6. alaskanbronco06 says:

Omon has a lot of talent. Hes big and strong enough to run between the tackles fast and quick enough to run outside of the tackles. Hes got good vision makes smart choices patient and I dont think he has a bad history with fumbles or injuries.

Id rather take Omon than Knowhow im hurt of Fumbles.

  7. tlcat06 says:

Snap infraction! Anyone else watching this game again? Fifth time for me… I keep seeing new stuff every time, too. Sy’d did an okay job returning, I’d much rather have him return than Deck. Tracy Porter laid Bush out…. Forgot about that. GO BRONCOS!!!

  8. OrangeTsunami says:

Omon does look great, but we do need to see him against the opposing 1st team to properly elevauate him. I just have a hard time cutting Moreno if he continues to have a good camp. I think we carry 4 RB’s plus a FB.

  9. oldsouthstander says:

sndvl: Sorry, missed your BBBP. Please repeat it.

  10. OrangeTsunami says:

Most of my concern with the running game is not with our ability to execute, but rather getting through the grueling season, as injuries are part of the game. Given that Omon is not eligible for the practice squad complicates things a bit. I wonder who is more likely to clear waiver between Ball and JJ? A lot of this decision is strategic IMO.

  11. alaskanbronco06 says:

I dont think Ball is eligible for the PS as he was active for more than 8 games last season (I think thats the limit to be eligible for PS) And im not sure if JJ will.

  12. OrangeTsunami says:

I bet Cedric Benson has a monster year this season..

  13. OrangeTsunami says:

Anyway, I’m really watching that RB group. We need a stable back there, b/c I don’t want to see Manning throwing 30+ times a game.

  14. OrangeTsunami says:

Speaking of predictions, OSS, I can’t remember what my BBBP’s were.. I’m almost scared to find out.. Lol

  15. FTR says:

    OS
I have a BBBP to add.
Ben Garland makes the team and has 5 sacks 3 forced fumbles!
    Thank you!!
    FTR

I just found out I won the trivia contest today. How cool! I’m happy I guessed correctly two days in a row. Even though I wasn’t able to enter yesterday.
Thanks btw to TIcat, Cam, Alaska, BGZ and haynboi

All I can say is this certainly came full circle. Maybe this bodes well for next seasons draft contest?! But, first things first…we have a season of business to take care of.
Speaking of the answer to the trivia question today… Hill sure does seem to be making a name for himself. And the one thing that stands out to me from all the reports from camp, everybody seems to be working hard. From 1-90. That’s going to make it extremely hard on the coaching staff in the next few weeks…

OSS, BBBP #3- Von Miller leads the league in Defensive TDs!

    Still giggling TIcat :)

  17. oldsouthstander says:

    FRT: Got your BBBP.

    OT:
    1) Carter, Moore become solid players.
    2) Willis cut.
    3) Decker most yards, DMT most TDs.

    Also had trouble getting. ???????????

  18. oldsouthstander says:

SNDVL: Got yours also. Thanks for the repost. Brain cramp.

  19. FTR says:

I feel for the Kuper! He just got almost ready for game time after his destroyed ankle! Now he has to deal with this injury on a camp injury!! He is going to be missed!! He must feel pissed it was during a drill not game time!!
    FTR

  20. Royalbroncofan1 says:

Kuper will be back to help the Broncos make a run along with a couple of other players. No one expected Damaryius to come back and help the Team last year, but he did!

  21. tlcat06 says:

Finally it’s letting me post again! Something’s going on!!!

  22. oldsouthstander says:

Gray, web folks. How about an explaination as to what caused several of us not being able to log on. I had my e-mail adddress hacked a few weeks ago, so I’m really twitchy about not being able to log on instead being “redirected”. To where nobody knows.

  23. tlcat06 says:

OSS I know, it’s weird! I panicked. I mean I do post a lot so I could be banned, but AB doesn’t and he can’t get on at all.

  24. alaskanbronco06 says:

    I can post Cat lol

  25. tlcat06 says:

    Yay!!

  26. tlcat06 says:

Skillz, I got one kid corrected on this Bronco Nation crap, but are you serious when you say I have to correct Shannon? I’m scared. I already gave him crap for not coming to camp……

  27. tlcat06 says:

… To which he replied that he’d be here this week and he hasn’t yet. Maybe he’s waiting until Saturday.

  28. strandoftds82 says:

    Bummer about Kuper. Man!

  29. strandoftds82 says:

The Cowboys raiders game was a joke.

  30. tlcat06 says:

Strand, it was awful!!! I didn’t watch it, but I saw the final score.

  31. strandoftds82 says:

Horrid. The raiders will be bottom feeders this year. LOL

  32. tlcat06 says:

    Most definitely.

Ever wonder what score Peyton Manning has to settle? I mean I’m not mad he’s a Bronco by any means, but he could’ve retired and. OT had to go through this. This last week must’ve been terrible for him, especially Sunday.

  33. tlcat06 says:

    *not instead of . OT

  34. strandoftds82 says:

It must feel weird for Peyton, I would.

  35. tlcat06 says:

Yeah. He’s always going to be a Colt, so I just would love to see inside his head why he wanted to do this. Once again, I’m not complaining.

  36. tlcat06 says:

I still think Jim Irsay is the biggest of all jerks.

  37. strandoftds82 says:

Not smart to let Manning go.

  38. tlcat06 says:

Yeah, but the last few months when he was promising all kinds of stuff to the fans and then Peyton got all grumpy and everyone (media) jumped down his throat. I know that Tim Tebow was traded because of all this and we have gone through a huge transition, but we didn’t trade or release John Elway here. Plus, we’ve gone through huge transition since we lost Elway anyway, we haven’t been consistent for the last 15 years like the Colts.

  39. strandoftds82 says:

Yeah, but the tables are turning. I`m glad for that.

  40. tlcat06 says:

Maybe he has to prove to himself that he can still play football and that’s all he has to prove. I hope so anyway. He is definitely in a “not messing around mood” though. He wasn’t really his normal self today when they were interviewing him. No laughing or anything.

  41. strandoftds82 says:

If Peyton stays healthy, I`m going out on a limb and saying we will win a SB within 3 years. I told a buddy of mine that while doing lunch today. He agreed, and he`s a Cowgirls fan. LOL

  42. tlcat06 says:

I agree, but I really need JDR to stay longer than a year, for Champ’s sake.

I am beginning to agree with AB, that it might not be in the cards this year. Peyton might not be comfortable until half way through this season.

  43. strandoftds82 says:

We gotta remember, Peyton is human. He has good and bad days just like the rest of us. Don`t read to much into it.

  44. strandoftds82 says:

Well, even with Peyton, this is a transition year. It is what it is. I`m not concerned whatsoever.

  45. tlcat06 says:

Oh I know, but my hopes are high, but I’m also trying to be realistic! It’s not that I don’t think we will be great this year, we will, just don’t know how great yet.

  46. strandoftds82 says:

Its gonna be a fun year regardless. I`m stoked!

  47. tlcat06 says:

Me too!!! Thanks for listening to the musings in my head. Helpful to have your perspective. I’m going to head to bed, busy day tomorrow!

  48. strandoftds82 says:

Theres a slight chance that I might go to the game saturday. A buddy asked me to go, and said he can get us tickets for $20.00 to $25.00. I`d sure like to go but its up in the air for me. Man, that would be fun. I`ll see I guess.

  49. strandoftds82 says:

I hear you. Heck, I just got home, wild day today for me.

  50. strandoftds82 says:

    And no problem Broncos friend.
