Kuper to Miss 4-6 Weeks

August 14th, 2012 - 2:30pm by Gray Caldwell

During Tuesday’s morning practice, guard Chris Kuper suffered a left forearm fracture. He is expected to fully recover within four to six weeks.

Kuper was in the process of returning to the lineup after recovering from an injury suffered in Week 17 of the 2011 season. As he worked his way back to the first unit, he often split reps at right guard with Manny Ramirez, a sixth-year lineman who has started 15 of his 20 NFL games played.

If Kuper returns in four weeks, he would presumably be part of the team’s preparation for its Week 2, Monday Night Football matchup in Atlanta. Six weeks from today is Sept. 25, leading up to the Broncos’ Week 4 home game against the Oakland Raiders.

Kuper was one of three players who left Tuesday’s practice early, along with running back Ronnie Hillman (hamstring) and defensive end Jason Hunter (triceps).

In addition, safety Jim Leonhard (knee), safety Quinton Carter (hamstring and knee), linebacker Keith Brooking (hamstring), cornerback Tracy Porter (illness), linebacker Danny Trevathan (ankle) and wide receiver Tyler Grisham (knee) did not participate in Tuesday’s practice. Defensive tackle Ty Warren was excused for “a family situation.”

“You’re concerned about all of them — you’d like them out there because this is how we get better,” Fox said of the injured players before the severity of Kuper’s injury was announced. “But we take a next-man-up approach, and it gives the guys behind them an opportunity.”

At least it’s not soft tissue. Bone breaks aren’t tooooooo terrible. Get Well Soon Koop

Hey y’all. Just getting caught up, busy day.. Not good news about Kuper, but to look on the bright side, it will give his ankle more time to heal and it’s better for this to happen now rather than the middle of the season. Perhaps we can shuffle a few guys around and maybe get Blake some quality reps.

As for Hillman, I think we should rest him for awhile and be patient with him. If he keeps tweaking that hammy, it could be a problem all year long..

Both of these injuries give Knowshon a golden opportunity. He can catch the ball out of the backfield, is a change of speed back, and from my understanding, he’s pretty solid in picking up the blitz. Let’s see if he realizes that this could be his last shot with the club, and takes full advantage. I think he makes good this year.

I’m totally sad! ;( BUT!! he hasn’t played much during TC so I think we’re ok.

  5. tlcat06 says:

OT, I think these injuries give Omon and JJ great opportunities,

  6. OrangeTsunami says:

Agreed cat. It’s an open competition, but we need a RB that can pick up the blitz with Manning back there, and with Kuper out a few games. I don’t know whether JJ or Omon excel at that, time will tell.

  7. tlcat06 says:

True, OT. Didn’t think about it like that. Did you get your prize pack?

  8. ScalptheChiefs says:

Speedy recovery to you Coop!! We need ya buddy.

  9. alaskanbronco06 says:

The do need to rest Hillman some and have Omon work with the 1st and 2nd strings…………

No I wont let that go lol

  10. ScalptheChiefs says:

I actually am also very curious as to what the prize pack is too!

  11. ScalptheChiefs says:

I think you will get your wish AB!

  12. OrangeTsunami says:

    My lips are sealed! :D

  13. OrangeTsunami says:

AB I agree. There is no point to play MaGahee in the preseason. We know what he’s capable of, and why risk an injury? Give everyone else some quality reps so we know who’s really better.

  14. ScalptheChiefs says:

Come on OT lol let me guess… hat, t-shirt and keychain?

  15. ScalptheChiefs says:

Anyone else here starting to become a big fan of Ingram? I think he beats out Green.

  16. OrangeTsunami says:

*quality reps vs the 1′s and 2′s

  17. alaskanbronco06 says:

OT I agree about McGahee. DOnt risk an injury. With Hillman I wouldnt overwork him. Everyone else should get more reps but be careful with how they use Moreno.

  18. OrangeTsunami says:

Very good guess scalp, not exactly, but pretty close!

  19. OrangeTsunami says:

I agree about Ingram, he’s looking pretty good. It also looks like JT is finally make plays. Green does have that suspension looming, so it’ll be interesting to see who gets cut. I wonder if Ingram would clear waivers to put on our practice squad?

  20. tlcat06 says:

OT, I bet you got a Mile High Manning magazine!

  21. AFCWesterner says:

Wow. What a drag for Kuper. I’ve been jonesing to see Hillman in action, but this guy doesn’t seem to be able to stay healthy so far. Could be a bad omen. And good for Omon. Just hoping he’s not another undersized running back who’s injuries keep him from ever showing what he can do. We’ve had enough of that the last few years.

  22. tlcat06 says:

Hillman does not have a history of injuries. Might be that he went in too early.

  23. tlcat06 says:

ESPN’s and NFL Network’s coverage of Tim Tebow’s birthday is beyond embarrassing.

  24. alaskanbronco06 says:

I have to ask since when is 5-11 227 undersized for a RB?

  25. OrangeTsunami says:

No magazine cat. I’ll tell you if you really want to know, but that takes away all the fun!

  26. tlcat06 says:

Ok, but if I don’t win one will you tell me? Cuz chances are slim that I’ll win one. I’m not good at guessing.

  27. tlcat06 says:

Omon reminds me so much of TD it’s not funny.

  28. alaskanbronco06 says:

Hes a big back and in the game vs the bears he showed some speed and some good moves along with the patience through the hole.

  29. OrangeTsunami says:

Sure thing cat, it’s a deal. Btw, I’ve been busy today and haven’t seen any of the Tebow bday coverage, but I heard on the radio people making fun of his photo shoot in GQ? Apparently he posed like Jesus or something? Idk all the facts, just heard people bashing him.

  30. tlcat06 says:

He REFUSED to pose for GQ so I don’t know what pictures they’re talking about.

They all bust asked Peyton to wish him a happy birthday during his interview. Lamo. They asked him if he’d ever be I GQ and all he said was “I doubt it” LOL!!!! Tebow wasn’t in that magazine by choice.

  31. tlcat06 says:

OT, I don’t know what the pictures look like. I did not look at them.

  32. OrangeTsunami says:

I think they found and used older pictures of him? Don’t they need his approval for that if it’s true? Again, I don’t any of the facts, and don’t really care honestly. I’m beginning to feel slightly sorry for Tebow. The NY media is so vicious, he’s on the back page of the NY post everyday practically, and it must be embarrassing for him to be used on special teams for a guy with his resume. I hope he has the last laugh, but I HATE jets……

  33. alaskanbronco06 says:

Does anyone know what happened to D’Andre Goodwin? I just saw he was on our IR but never remember him getting hurt

  34. tlcat06 says:

Me too. I feel awful for him. It’s embarrassing for the networks tho.

  35. OrangeTsunami says:

Forgot what happened to him AB, but I remember reading he got hurt. We signed another WR right after.

  36. alaskanbronco06 says:

Thanks OT I just dont remember hearing or seeing anything about it. I knew we signed another WR though. Kenny I think is his name.

  37. OrangeTsunami says:

I’m over it cat. Glad we don’t have to deal with all the hoopla anymore. He’s a tough kid, he’ll be fine with whatever happens. I don’t even click on any stories about him online, b/c they will only stop when his articles stop getting a millions clicks….

  38. OrangeTsunami says:

    *millions of clicks

  39. tlcat06 says:

Good decision, OT! I’m going to start doing that too. It’s too bad, I love the kid, but the media is ridiculous.

  40. tlcat06 says:

Does anyone know about Evlis Dumervil’s fight today. I know it got testy and he was involved… Was it him and Knowshin?

  41. alaskanbronco06 says:

    THanks Cat

  42. tlcat06 says:

*knowshon (DB is rubbing off on me ;P)

  43. tlcat06 says:

*Elvis… Seriously, DB! stop rubbing off on me! LOL

  44. alaskanbronco06 says:

Cat last blog it says it was Doom Mays and Knowshon

  45. tlcat06 says:

Ok, apparently he was pretty pissed off. I wish I could’ve seen it!!! Apparently there’s a video on the post, but I can’t open it for some reason.

  46. gclift says:

    Oh no!

  47. tlcat06 says:

    Yep, this is our quarterback:
