Kickoff for 8/27 Seattle Game Moved to 7 p.m. MDT

August 17th, 2011 - 7:01pm by Gray Caldwell

CORRECTION: It’s not this Saturday’s preseason home opener that has a change of kickoff time.

This Saturday’s game against the Bills will still kick off at 6:35 p.m. as originally scheduled.

We apologize for the mix-up.

Rather, the Aug. 27 game against the Seattle Seahawks has changed its kickoff time to 7 p.m. MDT.

It was originally scheduled for 6:35 p.m. MDT.

This just in……..In an effort to gain more fan support, Orton has requested that his number be changed to 15 and give tt #8. “Fans won’t need to change the name on the back of their jersey, cause I’ll only see the front of them on the field.”

For the ones keeping tab, specially for fantasy leagues purposes:

Browns HC Pat Shurmur: “Peyton Hillis, at the end of practice, felt his hamstring just a little bit.”

If Bunkley pans out and we pickup a FA off the waiver wire,we might just be alright this year,I KNOW we will have a better Defense this year than we had last year, the Rookies(Miller,Moore,Carter,Irving,etc..) will make us a lot better, plus Doom is back!!!!!!

The injuries to Thomas and Warren were fluke, just like Doom’s injury last year, could have happened to Mebane or Cofield if we had gotten them,so EFX did a great job getting Warren and Bunkley, and signing Thomas!

Funny thing is,you would think the Dline would be hurting the Oline, not the other way around!!!

Clayton: Denver mum on backup QB?
    August, 17, 2011

ESPN’s John Clayton has an interesting note in his look at the Denver Broncos.

Clayton reports that he doesn’t expect the Broncos to publicly designate a backup to Kyle Orton. Clayton wrote that Brady Quinn will probably be the backup to Orton, but the team will simply go into games with Orton as the starter and Quinn and second-year quarterback Tim Tebow will be the reserves without labels of second or third string attached to either player.

The two have been back-and-forth in the battle for the backup job. Tebow did relieve Orton last week in the preseason opener at Dallas. Both Tebow and Quinn played well in that game.

Here is some of Clayton’s reasoning: Because of the new 46-man active roster rules on game day, coaches don’t have to designate a third quarterback, so there will be no formal announcement of who is backing up Orton. Why? Because it probably will be Quinn, who has outperformed Tebow in training camp. Fans might be outraged because they believe in Tebow. But Tebow, in his second season, still hasn’t developed a consistent way of delivering the football.

I get that teams don’t have to say who the backup is, but people will figure it out. If Orton gets dinged in the regular season, either Quinn or Tebow will start warming up. The mystery will be solved pretty quickly. If the Broncos privately make Quinn the backup, but don’t publicly announce it, that would be awkward.

If the team feels Quinn is better than Tebow, then the team should say it. I know TebowMania is big, but it’s not bigger than the team.

Meanwhile, there is always a differing opinion when it comes to Tebow. See: In an Insider piece,( http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/story?id=6869928&_slug_=nfl-analyzing-why-tim-tebow-successful-nfl-quarterback&action=login&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fnfl%2fstory%3fid%3d6869928%26_slug_%3dnfl-analyzing-why-tim-tebow-successful-nfl-quarterback ) Chris Sprow breaks down why he thinks Tebow will be a successful quarterback. Sprow compares Tebow’s early career to that of Pro Football Hall of Famer Steve Young.

IF we had drafted Paea instead of Franklin and gotten Okoye …we would have a young talented defensive front …sigh watever. No knock to franklin i like him, we just coulda tried harder to keep harris. My theme for the draft is always efficiency, but maybe thats just me lol

Im sure we will run the rock alot but there will be an aerial show, great play actions, great roll outs, things that the running game helps to work. They had B lloyd throw a pass once at practice on a trick play, and yesterday i believe Tebow threw a flea flicker (love the flea flicker btw) … which is only believable with a good running game. We will be a more balanced offense lets just say that. No overpass from the last 2 years. But with our weapons no under passing. I think it will be 5050 but if any one would have the edge it would be running

PS: Yea heard about hillis … as a Fantasy Football regular as well as a madden player … as soon as Hillis made it on Madden Cover (plus the reckless way he runs) … no way i draft him.

    Later days, TRB –

The flea flicker, when exectued properly, is one of the awesomest plays in football and usually ends up being a TD. LOVE IT!
