Talk in the Broncos locker room on Monday was centered on the team’s 33-19 loss to the Chiefs. Head Coach Mike Shanahan reiterated that no matter how talented a football team is, if it doesn’t execute the game plan and mistakes pile up it is going to be hard to come away victorious in the National Football league.
“I just want to work on the things we did poorly,” Shanahan said. “We talked about red zone being 1-for-4 and turnovers being 4-to-1. We talked about missed tackles and gap responsibilities and we still have to improve on our third downs. All the things we did poorly in the game, you try and work on and eliminate those mistakes.”
The discussion among many of the Broncos during the team’s first three wins was the chemistry and the cohesiveness of the players in the Denver locker room. Marquand Manuel said that same camaraderie is still being felt in the locker room after the team’s first loss of 2008, and it is that team character that will help to define this team for the remainder of the season.
“I think just looking at the guys and understanding that guys care about each other here — you go in a hostile environment and do the things we did, you’re going to get your butt whooped,” Manuel said. “We knew coming into the game how hard it was going to be, now we have to understand that we have 12 more weeks to play.”
The Broncos can take a lot of different things away from Sunday’s loss, but Tony Scheffler said the team is focusing on taking away the positives.

“You can look at it a lot of different ways,” Scheffler said. “We are young. We still have a lot of talent on this team, and we’re still trying to iron things out a little bit. I don’t think we’re as perfect as a lot of people thought we were. At the same time, I still think we’re pretty darn good. We’ve got to bounce back, and we’ll see how much character guys have got this week.”
The Broncos may have shown a lack of execution, losing the turnover battle and not being able to convert touchdowns in the redzone, but one thing they didn’t lose was their determination. Despite the team’s miscues they still were in the game late and Eddie Royal said that says a lot about this team’s drive.
“It’s the same team, same effort,” Royal said. “If you look at the film, we had great effort. Some of the execution was off, a little bit of the technique, but that’s nothing we can’t fix. We know what we’ve got in this locker room, and that’s all that matters. The only thing that really matters is each other. We’ve got a lot of faith in each other”

The Broncos will take this week just as the team had the previous three and focus on improving.
“We don’t care if it’s a win or a loss,” Shanahan said “You just have to go over the mistakes and try to get better every day. We are going to do that all year round. Are we ready to hang it up for the season and quit because we are 3-1? No, we will keep on working. The first quarter (of the season) is over with and now we get a chance to start the second quarter with Tampa Bay in our backyard.”

WHY IS IT THAT THE DENVER SPORTSWRITERS WONT ASK SHANAHAN THE TOUGH QUESTIONS. SHANAHAN DEFLECTS CRITISIM BY SAYING ITS THE OFFENSE TURNING THE BALL OVER FOUR TIMES, WE AGREE WITH THAT. BUT SHANAHAN IS SO SMUG TO SIT THERE AND NOT SAY THAT THIS IS THE WORST D IN THE LEAGUE. LOOK THE CHIEFS HAVE LOST 12 GAMES IN A ROW. THERE OFFENSE WAS RANKED 28 TH IN THE LEAGUE AND LARRY JOHNSON RUNS FOR AROUND 200 YARDS, WAKE UP DUDE. ENGLEBERGER HAS TO GO, START PETERSON, THOMAS ROBERTSON, AND EKUBAN. BRING DUMERVIL AND MOSS IN ON PASSING DOWNS. WE ARE TOO SMALL DONT YOU GET IT SHANAHAN.
WE CONSTANTLY GET BEAT IN THE TRENCHES, THATS WHERE THE GAME IS WON. ARE LINEBACKERS ARE FINE BUT OUR SAFETIES STINK. ARE PASS RUSH IS SO BAD WE CANT TELL IF OUR CORNERS ARE GOOD EXCEPT FOR CHAMP. THIS IS AN 8-8 / 9-7 TEAM WE NEED PEOPLE ON THE DEFENSE TO STEP UP.
go broncos =)
i ♥ eddie royal!!!
I agree with Bones1965 Hell we never even put any pressure on the qb. made him looke like a pro and not a 3rd string Qb. What the hell is the coaching staff thinking. Watching the game on sunday was a huge discrace It is the kc chiefs. Looks like the defence needs to do some PT. The second half of all 4 games they go to crap and looke dead tired. Wake up people
Why is it Shannys fault bones? The defense had their backs to the wall all day. they allowed TWO touchdowns!!!!! The rest of the time they stopped kc to field goals. The offense did not hold up its end. The offense had four turnovers, that led to 10 kc points, we only scored ONE touchdown qand the other times we got field goals. As a whole the TEAM lost this one!!!!!!The defense actually kept the broncos in it until the end. They will be fine, shanny knows what he is doing, or should we let him go and find who???? He Has led this team to 3-1 after one month. Who honestly thought they would have that record at the start? Typical bronco fans all happy when everytime they win, one loss and its shanny must go and the broncos are crap. I beilieve this team is something special, that they have that IT factor but were guilty of taking kc lightly. They said shanny had them prepared, they just did not excute. This was the defenses best preformance overall, they kept denver in it, the offense just laid an egg. Go broncos beat the bucs, then these fairweeather fans like Bones1965 will quit crying
I said it once, I’ll say it again.
Where the hell was our defense!?!?! How did we give up such a long run to LJ in the second play? Can Champ not play on the other side of the field or what, cause that is the only thing that comes to mind when I saw Bowe burn Dre and Jack. I say that we reorganize our defensive depth chart. Who here agrees? So far there only 4 guys who I think have earned a spot on the defense and deserves to be a starter. Champ, D.J, Doom, and Boss-Man. Aside from D.J, the other guy that I usually see making tackles from the LB spot is the Boss-Man, he has some good speed and can actually tackle. Champ………..well, he’s Champ. Doom seems like a shadow of last year but I’ll wait a couple more games before I say take him off. D.J has been playing exceptional. To me, Peterson has played better than Doom, he has gotten some penetration on the line. Webster…….bench the guy cause we all know he can’t play good enough to be a starter. We have other guys on the bench who are waiting to get a chance to play, just give them(Woodyard, Larsen, Niko) a chance, I doubt we can get any worser than now. The safety’s suck!!! Manuel can’t caver anyone and I think that Lowry or what-ever the other guy is can play better…….wait…..why not put Barret. I can see why the bolts let McRee walk.
Can someone tell me why we have almost completely abandon the run game? I don’t care if we are waiting for Ryan to come back, RUN THE DAMN BALL!!! Atleast then we can do some believable play-actions. Hey Cutler, we all know you like B-Marsh……..so does the other teams defense. Don’t always try going for the homerun, take what the damn defense gives you. Well, that’s my two cent…….till next time.
I have to agree with railroaderbrncofan. What kind of a true bronco fan would call for Shannihan’s departure? Has his consistent winning record made you upset? Do you think top-notch NFL coaches grow on trees? Look at the coaching class of 2006–do any of them have winning records this season? More than Half the teams in this league would love to get their hands on Shannihan. Its exciting to be a broncos fan this season–they have nowhere to go but up with this young, talented squad. Shannihan is our best chance at the super bowl.
I agree with the most of these guys. The Defense, especially the D-line is causing a domino effect on the whole team. No pressure on the opposing QB means the CBs and LBs will get tired, passes will be made, Denver’s offense gets less field time, and it puts more pressure on Denver’s offense to score or lose. That puts Cutler and the offense on the spot, and they can’t win the game alone. And what’s the deal with going 3 and out at the feakin goal line? Do we not have a bunch of running backs? Run the ball!!! First and goal and somone calls a passing play all three times. The offense is awesome, but the play calling is one demensional. Get creative! Get a play caller who can be creative and adjust in the middle of the game. Get someone that can maximize and utilize the players that are on the roster. We’ve got the players, but what about the plays? What about the coaches?
This game, this game right here was ALSO the offenses fault! it put the defense in a bad position! cum on brandon marshall and eddie royal, and brandon stokley, and the up and coming best young quarterback Culter and we only came away with field goals! We should have had at least 21 points in the first half! Culter’s interceptions, and the fumbles got us, that was the difference! BUT, however, the defense sucks! larry johnson has one of the worst offensive lines and got 198 yards that is just plain redickerous!
In my opinion, i think its time to start cutting people and trading for defensive playmakers! and Bones is right; with this defense this defense right here we are a 9-7 team! “offense is magically but the defense is dark magic.” I love broncos, and Mike WILL BE HERE FOREVER! no, matter how bad we lose! i think they need to bring back wat was the defensive coordinator 3 4 yrs ago! larry Coyer or however u spell is name!
Magical
I’m with railroaderbrncofan. If ya’ll don’t like the defense or the way the team is playing… take a hike. It’s no wonder that this team has been struggling with a bunch of fickle people always looking at the glass as half empty. I think a lot of that comes from people knowing nothing about football, or sports in general, and only looking at the wins and losses. If any of the players read this, know that you will always have at least one person cheering for you while the rest of these people can only critisize you.
jeez people.
were 3-1.
many teams in the league would kill for our record.
remember in ’05 when we started out 3-1?
we went 13-3 and all the way to AFC championship.
I see one of the BIG problems we have is that we seem to damn near hold our own when an opponent is slowly advancing on a drive…they have it thrid and long and… BAM! We ALWAYS give the opponent that 10+ yard pass and make sure they have a 1st down! Our opponents slowly creep down the field again…get kicked back to another 3rd and long and BANG!! 1st down! If we could cut those down…the defense wouldn’t look so bad! Gut check time defense…we got to get those holes plugged up…I know it can’t be all the time…but a lot more than you have been. That being said I know they can do it…its just taking time. GO BRONCOS!!
Can anybody say no pressure!!!! That’s exactly what our D-line does not apply!!!! No pressure no nothing.Whats up with our draft picks Crowder and Moss are way to quiet,Engleberger gets handled every snap!!! and those off season pick ups arent making any noise!!! The trenches is where we suck !!! You seen it yesterday,Way too much arm tackling on this team. But for the most part,if we can improve this team hands down is a contender !!!!Take R frustrations out on the BUCS !!!! Defense needs to show up this time !!!
is anybody else watching this Monday night game. This ravens defense is blitzing ALL the time, mean and make good tackles, slowick please take notes cause I think we have the personal to play that kind of defense. Not this wimpy 3-4 zone coverage crap!
Let’s go Broncos!! Big game against Tampa on Sunday.
watching the broncos defense play football is down right depressing and embaressing… do the players and coaches not see how bad they are compared to the other teams in the league (titans, skins, eagles, bears, ravens, steelers…)… to make it simple, this defense lacks talent, scheme and most of all heart… ive never seen players be so excited after a allowing a 5 yard run on first down or 8 yard pass completion on second down (bly-webster)… and the thing that really gets me is the way bly and the other girls on defense keep saying that its all gonna come together soon and that their confident in their ability.. where that confidence comes from after last year and so far this year is a mystery… thier in denial… i feel sorry for champ, with him on the field all the other 10 players have to do is defend around sixty percent of the field… and they cant…i dont think the defense undestands how depressed we get when they get samcked around like that every week… if ur gonna lose, lose with dignity and ur heads held high…the offense is Super Bowl material except they have to run a bit more.. and jay, just stay calm and go to the open man and u will be MVP… the next three games will clarify if this team is gonna do something this year or if its gonna be a repeat of 06 and 07…
THose offseason pickups arent making any noise???? So Boss hasn’t done anything???? I’ve seen him make some big plays in the last three games.
OUR DEFENSE SUCKS I THINK WE NEED TO BRING LARRY COYER BACK HE WAS A BLITZAHOLIC WE NEED TO GET RID OF THE 3-4 AND THE DEFENSE CORD. IF WE GOT 2 SHUT DOWN CORNERS WHY THE HELL WE WANT BLITZ EVERYONE ON CERTAIN DOWNS PLUS WHO THE HELL IS CALLING THESE OFFENSE PLAYS HAVING THE BALL BE PITCH TO B-MARSHALL OUT THE BACK FIELD AND BEING IN SHOTGUN ON 1ST AND GOAL
I completely agree with Headless. The mentality that we have to win every game by out-scoring the other team in a shoot-out is going to put unfair pressure on both the offense and the defense, as we saw against KC. As much as we love our offense, we need to be content with a field goal from time to time.
One of the most powerful aspects of Broncos football has always been dominating time of possession. If we continue to be a bend but don’t break defense that gets broken, then the only way to off-set this is by taking some chances to create turn-overs. Given our personnel, I would think that we would be better suited to the latter approach.
The other risk to keeping the defense on the field all day is injuries, not to mention that the defense ultimately loses that attacking mentality that makes all defenses effective.
Also, if we aren’t going to commit to the run, then we need to start working on improving our screen game. It’s only a matter of time before defenses start lighting up Cutler.
Railroader I am not crying, so easy does it. I have been a die hard fan for over thirty years. I said the broncos beat writers are lame and Shanny wont admit that his defense after 5 def coordinators in 6 years wont cut it. I am sorry that doesn’t meet your requirements, we should be happy about our 3-1 start. They should have beaten the chiefs. The good thing is that we have fans in Denver that will question the organization, we are not soft like San Diego Fans and we expect greatness.
I will say this again this team reminds me of Shannys first year as a head coach. They had a horrible Defense and a potent Offense. The next year he got Alfred Williams and Bill Romanowski. They were 13-3 that next year and lost to the Jags.
One suggestion go get Abraham from the falcons for a third round pick and Jarvis Moss.
I whole heartedly agree, the 3-4 just isnt getting it done. Of the few times that I can remember that we actually got pressure this season, we were crowding the line with more men up front…and those few times looked great…how can the coaches not see that? We have the personel to pressure that front big time but still have the guys in the backfield to cover those deep outs decently…sure we may get burned once in a while…but rushing that quarterback and making him throw those wild passes or making him cough up the ball is definately going to make up for those occasional slip ups.
I honestly believe nothin is wrong with our defense its just the calls dont go with the play makers…we got speed at the LB position so why not blitz…thats wut i dont understand all i see is cover plays…..our offense is superb but i think we needed this lose to show us we cant rely on our offense…i mean damn our offense is puttin more pressure on then our defense…blitz/pressure is the words…champ bly and mCcree can hold their own in the baccfield…marquan is not impressin me at all i would like to see barret or lowry get a shot.. ..our line is decent they can make plays its jus the pressure needs to be put on hard and quicc or we gon get picced apart week by week…this lose is a wake up call…lets answer it!!!!!
Look guys, I agree our defense has let us down a lot recently, but dont panic because we lost this game, One thing I give our defense is that they do step up when it comes to the pressure situations like 2 times in the Saints game on 4th and 3rd and 1, What I do agree on is we need to blitz more, I just finished watching the Monday night game and it was close how??? both teams blitzed, and we should do that, we got Bly and Champ so we are good, our offense had a crappy day, give them a break, Im pleased with our 3-1 start, the season is not over so dont act like it is, I look 4 us to improve as the season goes on and I’m sure the offense will dominate against those Bucs, So put it behind u and give shanahan ur support GO BRONCOS!!!!!
Yes, the defense needs to be better! There, I said it. Now, let’s look at the good, 3-1 is nothing to gripe about. The Kansas City game is a learning experience. and definitely something that will improve this young team. All the good analysts, such as Steve Young and Tom Jackson still think we’re good. We’ve got to get back to business and sweep the Buccaneers, Jaguars and Patriots heading into the bye week. This is attainable, and remember, insomuch that we have failed against the Chiefs at Arrowhead consistently, we have dominated the Pats with or without Tom Brady. Thus, let’s be positive and like Miramontes has so articulately stated, the defense has stepped up when we’ve needed it. The games against the Chargers and Saints could easily have been losses, but they weren’t. That to me speaks of the character of this team. No one goes unbeaten in this league anymore. With that said, we lead our division and trail only the Titans and Bills in the AFC race. That’s pretty good!
I suggested long time ago that Denver should get Gunther Cunningham for their defensive coordinator but nothing happened. I think Shannahan tried but not hard enough. Nobody prepares a team against Denver like he does. I suggested the defensive coordinator from the Ravens when he was let go before he was rehired, before the season started, but nothing happened. I don’t think Slovick is the answer either. Why can we get an assistant from the Eagles, Giants — any team that has a good proven defense. We don’t have any standout defensive palayers other than the Bailey bros., and Williams. I’m really impressed with this kid Larsen because he has a nose for the ball and can tackle with recklessness. Put him as middle linebacker. We let Royal, Clady and other rookies play and they are doing a darn good job.. What about Moss if you can play him, then trade him now. We need good players in our defense and we have the drafts available. Right now is the time. We should not wait till next draft, do it now. There are teams going nowhere that might be willing to let go some good players for draft picks. I want to win now and win big. Furthermore, we need more homerun plays like Elway used to throw or like Favre, and Brees who do it consistently. We have the speedy receivers now — No Excuses. We have our QB, and other pieces of the puzzle. Fix the defense NOW!!!! We need the long plays now so we don’t telegraph our passes like we did in the past. The young offensive coordinator is doing a good job and the play calling is much better than before. Anyway, guys this is just air talk, the Denver Management would not listen to us—- they know everything, I should know I have been doing this for 36 years. I love my broncos for ever, no matter what!
We should be 1and 3 nobody wants to hear the truth. The defense sucks and the coaches keep making excuses for them. We need to make some changes.
i like how when we win…people show love…but when we loose…people point fingers and start calling for doods to be fired?? what happened to being the best fans in football…everyone has bad days and i think we’ll rebound and be fine…show some support!!!
I am not saying that the defense was great. It clearly was not. But this week they played far better than you think. They forced field goals several times in the red zone after being forced to defend short fields time and time again because of the offensive turnovers.
Two weeks in a row, they have had a goal line stand and they held tough. Give them a break.
You people don’t get it.
I have to say I agree with snake53. They way we’ve been scraping by is gut wrenching. Yeah I know a win is a win, but if we really want to have a successful season we need to play much better than we have been. The SD and the NO games should have been losses for us. Ed’s blown call, and the no call on offsides on our LB on the last missed NO field goal. Don’t get me wrong I love being 3-1 but our team needs to play better. Our D needs to step up on the pass coverage, and Jay needs to settle down and now try to force throws. I really think that this year we honestly have a chance for post season play if we can get things straightened out on both sides of the ball. We have the players and the coaches we just need to as Shanny said, “execute better.”
Where is Joe Collier when you need him. This defense looks just as bad as last year!
to the fans who think criticism is bad and in some way underminds the love we have for the broncos is crazy… i think fans who think the defense is even average are in denial, just like the defense (bly especially)… just like in AA the first step towards fixing a problem is admitting u have one.. then moving forward to fix it… i voice my criticism so that maybe they might realize how bad they are…. i say next sunday at mile high the broncos fans have an intervention for the broncos d… i truly hope that the offense keeps playin like they did the first three weeks so they can cover for the d that cant stop no one….
For everyone out there that is complaining that we lost to the “worst team in the league”, KC can lose to every other team in the league but when we come to their field, they turn into a completely different team. That was not the same KC team of the previous three games. Somehow this rivalry fuels them at home.
Yes, our defense needs work but we did get a sack. they’re good on the clinch plays but give up other big plays otherwise. Our O-line barely gave Jay any time to throw until the fourth quarter. Yes, the play calling was wacky (who runs on a second and 20 and throws on a second and 2?). But we can’t get throw this.
To say that this D is that bad is crazy guys! I went to the game Sunday and I thought the D played better than they have all year. Kansas City was in the redzone 4 times in the first half (because of turnovers and bad special teams play) and we held the to FG, FG, Missed FG and TD after the returned the fumble to the 3 yard line. LJ broke 3 long runs and that is what accounted for majority of his rushing yards. A 65 yarder in the first (we made them kick a field goal), a 18 yarder in the 3rd quarter and that back breaking 30+ yarder late in the 4th quarter. That is over 100 yards on the those 3 runs. Other than that he was bottled up all game. Our D played well. The offense gave up 4 turnovers and KC has really short fields. It is kind of hard when the offense has to only go 20 yards to be in scoring range. Then we score FG, FG, Missed FG and TD when we get in the redzone. Sorry boys the offense really let us down. With all that said we still were in the game at the end. One question I have though is I noticed in 3rd and long situation when we would bring in out Nickel Defense. Jack Williams always lined up against Dwayne Bowe. Champ and Dre were on #85 and #81 and Manuel was on Tony G. I couldn’t understand that logic. Every time Huard went to Bowe and got 2 or 3 first downs and the one Bowe was out of bounds but still caught the ball. Most of the time Williams played off of Bowe and 1 time he got right up on him but just before the snap moved back about 5 yards. Not questioning Williams skills but Champ is our best corner and why would he not be on the Chiefs best reciever not name Tony G? Just me two cent. That is why the defense couldn’t get off the field because KC converted too many 3rd downs. Huard isn’t the greatest QB but he is solid and he knew where to put the ball. If Thigpen had played we would have killed those guys even with all the turnovers. Just my 2 cent.
We are showing support for our team, I am sure that we all love our Broncos and want nothing but the best for them, some of us say go Broncos and some of us say our defence sucks we all have something to say,
here is the fact we have played 4 games the only team with some defense was the Saints and we put up 30 + on them, we are saying that our offence is great, they are good but the next 3 games we will meet 3 teams that can bring it on defence so we will see what we have on offence.
but here is were the problem is for the most of us, we have not shown that we can stop teams from scoring. we will meet 3 teams that may or may not be able to hold us under 30 points and if the trend continues that other teams good ones or not good ones (KC) can put up 30 + on us and can hold us under 30 this is were we lose our hope that we can win games, we want to win and we want to cheer for our Broncos but look at the trend for the first 4 games we have allowed 30 + 3 times we can not afford the next 3 games to allow 30 + and come out with a win, this Sunday will give all of us a clear picture of were we are. GO BRONCOS SHOW UP ON BOTH SIDES OF THE BALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
May 25 Shanny is the guy who calls those type plays. I think Jeremy Bates is using a little bit of Shanny’s mojo. Sometimes the work and sometimes the don’t. They had 3rd and 1 in the 3rd quarter and motioned Royal to the backfield and then faked the toss to him (he would have ran for at least 10 yards had they throw it to him) and then threw it to Pittman out of the backfield under pressure and he dropped the wobbly pass. I say lets get the for sure 1 yard with a Pittman run and try that type of play on 2nd and 1.
just stay focused and everything will work out. the offense just needs to stay focused and continue to get better and learn from mistakes. the defense needs to just go balls to the wall and do what ever it takes to get to the qb. start blitzing 6 players on every down and mix up who your sending and have the other 5 drop back and cover. champ and dre can handle the out sides and have the other 3 take care of the middle. stop putting dre on the slot and allow champ to stay with the best wr that each team has instead of making him stay on one side. if we send six and make the qb throw it out fast our safties can play the ball and make plays and we wont have to worry about getting beat deep because the qb wont have time to allow a wr to get deep
Woooooooo! Go Broncos! Oh yeaaaaaaaaah!
OMG TEH SKY IZ FALLING!!!
One other thing, Jay, go through your reads. Do not focus on just your prime target. You have done this all year long. First game it was Royal and you forced over six throws his way. Games 2-4, you have only looked at Marshall and forced throws that cost turnovers. NOW when someone said something on the bench you started only looking at Royal, then ONLY Stokley. You are better then this, go though your reads. BTW, where is your buddy Scheffler? Right, still sitting uncovered in the middle of the field wait on an easy 12 yard pass. Come on dude.
Also, until the excellent pass blocking OL learnes how to run block better, the offense will need to pass so well that the occasional run really works.
wow i cant believe all the haters on here despite our record being 3-1.. there is one thing and one thing only wrong with our defence, they cant get off the field on 3rd down.. and in my opinion its because we’re to predictable.. contain 1st and 2nd down.. do that great, usually leaving them with 3rd and 4+ and then blitz 3rd down when the other team leaves 6-7 to block.. i’d say mix it up when we blitz a little more often and you might see some improvement.. as for everyone who just has garbage to say and all they want to do is complain.. get the hell off this website and go cheer for the raiders
Some of you people just don’t get it. This is the NFL. Do you know how hard it is to average over 30 points a game as an offense?? The Defense is terrible and there is no way the offense can just rack up points like that every week as was evident this week. The offense is still young and will have games like that, and the defense needs to be good enough to handle those situations. To those of you that are saying the turnovers were a cause to those points, what is the excuse for the previous weeks?? If the offesnse didnt play perfect in the previous games do you people understand how ugly those games would have got?? Defensively we are giving up way too many points and at this rate we’d be lucky to go 8-8. If changes don’t come soon, its gonna be a long season.
greekbronco9: if our offence wasnt scoring as much as it has been in the first 3 games do you think our opponents would be thowing as much as they have been.. no.. so they wouldnt have gotten as ugly as you think
unfortunately the defeat of Denver vs Kansas
really shows the condition of the defense of the Broncos. In short they have no defense, so they will not get anywhere. just shows the foolishness of Shanahan and the mediocrity that has characterized Denver in the last 10 years
Top 5 reasons we can’t win by outscoring teams……..
#5. CUTLERS 1ST READ IS B. MARSH
#4. OUR SPECIAL TEAMS WILL GIVE UP 1,2, OR 3 LONG RETURNS
#3. WE USE TO BUILD 1,000 YDS RUNNING BACKS AND HAD THE BEST RUN SYSTEM IN ALL OF FOOTBALL! NOW OUR COACHES ARE SCARED TO RUN THE BALL LET 1 OF OUR BACKS GET 100 YDS RUSHING OR CLOSE.
#2. THE DEFFENSE IS LIKE THE STREETS HERE IN NEW ORLEANS DURING MARDI GRAS TIME! ANYONE WHO HAS BEEN HERE FOR MARDI GRAS KNOWS WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT.
AND THE #1 REASON WE CAN’T WIN BY OUTSCORING TEAMS…….
B. MARSH IS CUTLERS 1ST, 2ND, AND 3RD READS. HE WILL NOT THROW TO ANYONE ELSE UNLESS MARSHALL HAS 5 DEFFENDERS ON HIM BC THAT WOULD MEAN THAT SOMEONE ELSE IS WIDE OPEN AND THEN IT’S OK TO THROW TO SOMEONE OTHER THAN MARSHALL!
lynch4prez: your an idiot. My whole point was the defense would have let up even more points if the offense was turning over the ball in those games too. The Defense is the problem and until changes are made we got problems. They need to make moves in the secondary and the D-line but I think they can address linebacker in house. They payed Niko 7.5 million, he might not be as fast as Webster but at least he knows how to run a defense and line people up. DJ even said with Niko on the field his job is a lot easier. Give the kid a shot, he can’t be any worse!!
I CANT BELIEVE ARE DEFENCE IS THIS TERRIBLE THERE IS NOTHING BUT EXCUSES HOLDING US BACK ON PPER ARE STATS AND 40S ARE OVERALL COMPARIBLE TO THE TOP TEN DEFENCES YET WE ARE NOT PERFORMING LETS TAKE SOME CHANCES AGAIN LETS TAKE SOME CHANCES ARE DEFENCE PLAY CALLING ARE ELEVEN PLAYERS SITTIN WITH TEA CUPS AND TRYING O PULL THE RED FLAG WHEN A PLAYER PASSES THEM AND THEY DO PASS THEM THIS AINT FLAG FOOTBALL IF YOUR NOT GOING TO PLAY SMASH MOUTH GET TAKE YOUR KLENEX AND GET LETS PUT MOSS IN THERE AND FAIL IF HE ISNT DOING GOOD LETS PUT HIM INFRONT OF THE CAMERA AND SEE IT NOT GIVING HIM THE OPPERTUN LETS HIM BE PUT ON THE BENCH AND COLLECT A PAY CHECK GIVE ME A PAYCHECK ONE OF YOURS IS WHAT I MAKE A YEAR AND TO SIT ON A BENCH YOUR PATHETIC STR8 PTHETIC GARBAGE A SCUM BE S AGRESSIVE AT THE BALTIMORE RAVENS AND LEARN A THING OR TWO OR WAIT GIVE UP THIRTY POINTS EVERY GAME WERE THE DENVER BRONCOS THIS PISSES ME OFF
greekbronco: no need to be calling people idiots.. see i dont think the defence is the problem.. SD- a really great offence, will do what they do to us to many defences this year.. NO- brees is a pro bowler and is the leading passer in the NFL right now.. KC- defence actually played great considering how they defended short field position on what seemed like every single drive.. as for Niko i think its a toss up.. but who knows, im not a believer but i havent really seen him play
we have the talent on defence, there just not in the position to show it quite yet.. its a new coach though, so im being patient with it coming together.. by the way its only week 5 now..
Does anyone want to buy my autographed Jarvis Moss football. CHEAP!
Lynch4prez has a good point, The Chargers and the Saints both have good offenses, and like I said in 2 other post, our defense has stepped it up when we really needed them, but that doesn’t mean its good, We have all the personal, we have the speed, I just think blitzing is what we need to do more, look at the monday night game, 2 good defense kept the game close and what did both the Ravens and Steelers do to get pressure on the QB, BLITZ!!!! We can do it just as good or better Bly and Bailey as our corners, DJ and Boss’ speed, we have amazing speed as a defense so now we just need to take it to them, its early and we can and will improve as the season goes on, Every Bronco fan here needs to be grateful, we have a good team, we’re not the Rams, Raiders, Browns, or Bengals, those teams who have no offense or no defense, We have a great offense, and our defense will improve, with time, Shanahan will see it and Im sure Slowik will fix it, just keep ur heads high
