Jovial Mood at Dove Valley

April 16th, 2012 - 5:16pm by Gray Caldwell

“What are you up to?”

That was the first question asked of Peyton Manning as Monday’s press sessions kicked off. And right from the start it was clear everyone’s in a good mood with the Broncos’ offseason conditioning program now underway.

“228, 229, somewhere in there,” Manning replied with a smile. “You?”

OK, maybe you had to be there, but it brought a laugh to the whole room. And that was just the start of the jokes from players as they made their way to the press room.

Next up was Eric Decker, who didn’t want to give away the location of the high school he, Manning and other receivers used where “people couldn’t find us.”

“We’d take a couple of car loads over to the local –” Decker said, pausing, “maybe distant — field, and get some work in.”

So it was either close or far away. Nice save.

Champ Bailey brought the most laughs as his press conference started out with a question about why he’s no longer sporting a beard.

“Look, everybody in the room is young now,” he laughed. “I have to fit in.”

Next, he was asked about his interactions with Manning so far, but due to the different schedules of offensive and defensive players, he had yet to officially meet the new Bronco.

“I saw him in the weight room, but he was on TV,” he smiled, referencing video of Manning from earlier in the morning.

Finally, Von Miller closed out the day with another one-liner about meeting Defensive Coordinator Jack Del Rio for the first time.

“He was nicer than I thought,” he laughed.

It might not seem like much, but it was clear on Monday that the team is excited to be back to work.

i think for the best possible outcome in the draft we trade our first rounder to the rams for 2 2nd rounders and draft:

    2nd ROUND
    33. Doug Martin RB Boise State
    39. Kendall Reyes DT Connecticut
    57. Brock Osweiler QB Arizona State

    3rd ROUND
    87. Trumaine Johnson CB Montana

    4th ROUND
    108. Tommy Streeter WR Miami
    120. Derek Wolfe DT Cincinatti

    5th ROUND
    137. Chris Rainey KR Florida

  5. Von_Dumervil says:

i know most of yall on here want defense defense defense but signing Manning was pointless unless we arm him with weapons… thats why 4 of the top 7 picks were offense for me… to be honest last year Tebow had almost no weapons this year will be different

  6. Von_Dumervil says:

    6th ROUND

    188. Vontaze Burfict MLB

  7. brian_schneider says:

Last year Tebow had some offensive weapons but he didn’t have the ability to use the adequately and consistently, like Tebow said, “his teammates make him look better than he actual is.”

This year Manning has some offensive weapons and he hopefully will have the ability to use them adequately and consistently, Manning will make our guys look better than they are.

    o’Yeah…. How bout those NUGGETS!!!!

From 8th to 6th place in two nights… Too bad Fernandez is gone, the Nuggy’s were 18-5 to start the season and looked like conteders before all the injuries! If Wilson Chandler returns full strength before the playoffs and Galo stays healthy they could make a serious push in the West!!!

    N-U-G-G-E-T-S NUGGETS NUGGETS NUGGETS!!!

LOL… from Devi8ed on the CNNSI truth or Rumor blog…

“Yeah, Manning has it all under control. I’ll be surprised if any of the offensive coaches even show up.

Does anyone actually read The Denver Post sports section? Based on the threads here that are attributed to them my bird would be offended if he had to crap on that rag. “
