The Broncos announced several roster transactions yesterday evening, including the signing of safety Herana-Daze Jones (pronounced Hernandez Jones) to their active roster.
The team also signed running back Cory Boyd to its practice squad after he was waived from its active roster on Monday, and the club released running back Steve Baylark from the practice squad.
Jones first signed with the Broncos on Dec. 3 and was inactive for his one game on the roster before he was waived on Dec. 10. He saw time in three games this year with Cincinnati, which waived him on Nov. 4, and spent his first three full seasons (2005-07) with the Bengals.
Boyd first signed with the Broncos’ practice squad on Nov. 4. He was promoted to Denver’s active roster on Dec. 9 and was inactive for Sunday’s game in Carolina.

I know linguistics, but for the life of me I can’t figure out how “Herana-Daze” becomes “Hernandez” upon pronunciation.
Good to see Boyd back on the practice squad
Ya but I wanted to see this kid Baylark, his numbers looked Great. Good to see Hera Hern Heranad . . . Jones back The Broncos need the depth at Safety.
TIME OF POSSESSION! ! !
GO BRONCOS! ! !
Man I am confused over these late in the year transactions… We obviously have another speight of injuries at safety…
Monodono – Its not rocket science but why do we struggle with T.O.P??? But I definately agree with you on this.
BUFFALO on the BBQ this Sunday… who wants some?
Buffalo burgers are my favorite!
Hope C-Boyd can get that pass-blocking up because I really want to see what this kid can do with the rock in a Denver running game. This guy is the closest thing we have had to Clinton Portis since he left in a deal I am still weeping over. But I still love Champ…especially when he is on the field….
Lets do it this Sunday
With Selvin coming back healthy i don’t think we will see to much of Boyd, but it’s nice to have a little depth back there. i’m really hoping that Champ comes back this week, but wouldn’t mind him resting one more week to gear up and be 100% for the playoffs where we will need him the most.
Can’t wait to lock it up this week and i’m hoping to have Indy come to our house so we can show them whats up.
Keep the Faith
GO BRONCOS!!!!
samoanbronco your right it’s not rocket science infact its prety simple it’s a philosophy issue. When Alex Gibbs was the Offensive line Coach he really preached the run on first down. A) it keeps the Oline moveing forward and psychologically thats a posetive. When you pass block the Olinemen move backwards in hopes to get yardage. B) it makes the linebackers and safeties move forward or freeze to think about whats happening. If you can make a linebaker think instead of react you can control them later in the game. C) Once you control the linebakers and safeties they expect the run on first down, they move up to the line thats when you have them. (with a proper play action fake which in my opinion is Cutlers biggest flaw, he does it half assed like its a newsance to him, if he sold it better like the greats have Elway, Favre, Stabler, Bradshaw… he would could be the Greatest)
Without Alex Gibbs constantly preaching the run on first down the phillosophy has moved to passing on first down with QB’s that have great arms. Thats why you see Mike trying to run the ball on 3rd and 17 He’s trying to fool the linebakers instead of control them.
This philosophy works with all the right components in place working properly at the same time. To me thats a crap shoot and I don’t like dice.
one little mistake and you miss. If you start a series with an incomplete pass and it’s now second and 10, and continually set up in the shotgun formation What do you think the Defense is thinking? That’s right blitz or cover they don’t have to think they just react and when a linebaker reacts he’s at his best! I’ve said it over and over 90% of The Broncos 3&outs start with an incomplete first down pass.
I just want The Broncos to get back to running the ball more, not all the time but more on first down. right now they pass 3/4 of the time on first down. I don’t care how many yards they get I care about controling the game. Put a fullback in the game, run the ball on first down, then play action and I mean sell the fake, and set up in shotgun on third down if you have to. Thats the formula that controls the TIME OF POSSESSION and puts this TEAM in a good position. The best defense is a good Offense!
It’s not rocket science. When you do things right no one knows you did anything at all. . . OR DO THEY?
TIME OF POSSESSION! ! !
GO BRONCOS! ! !
Oh yeah, I want me some of that BBQ Buffalo on Sunday… nothing beats REALLY good BBQ and one awesome football game!!!!
As for the transactions going on… I just hope we can bank off all this. If we can just get ourselves a solid RB to get our running game back on track while we are without Hillis, we will be fine. But its not that hard to figure out we’ve struggled with that all season. Our running game has been off and on like a lighting. BOOM, there it is and then it disappears. There’s part of our inconsistency… most of that is on all the injuries but we’ve weathered through all our injuries this season, I have no doubt we can tough it through these last 2 regular season games and God help us in the playoffs. If Selvin is going to play on Sunday and he can help us establish our running game even by the slightest margins… we’ll be on fire. Other than that our biggest challenge against the Buffs will be stopping Lynch. That guy could turn out to be our worst enemy on Sunday but we can’t let that happen. We let it happen with Smith last week, we have got to FIGHT for our wins. I honestly believe after Sunday’s game we’ll have 9 wins behind us.
Go get ‘em boys… I can already smell that Buffalo BBQ.
Mmmm, smells gooood!!
GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!
07elway, we gotta get past those Gigantic OLinemen to contain Lynch, I see on the injury report he has a sholder injury. Hopefully the D will be as stingy as the Grinch and contain Lynch.
I like my buffalo prime rib RARE!
TIME OF POSSESSION! ! !
GO BRONCOS! ! !
Agreed monodono… our D has got to come across as the big guys and force their offense to rethink their strategies. Our D cannot afford to get soft at all in this game. Maybe if Lynch has an injury we’ll have one less problem to worry about. Wouldn’t that be a nice change of pace? haha
Crush the Buffs boys!!!
GO BRONCOS!!!!
Im glad to see Boyd back he has some potential
My family’s Christmas party is Sunday night and it would be a nice segue into the festivities if the Broncos win in the afternoon. I think Hernandez Jones will be excellent for us and it’s nice to have Boyd around as well. GO BRONCOS!
