Via his Twitter account, Executive Vice President of Football Operations John Elway commented on the team’s visit with free agent quarterback Peyton Manning today in North Carolina.
“We enjoyed visiting with Peyton today in N.C.,” Elway wrote. “He threw the ball great and looked very comfortable out there.
“Watching him throw today was the next step in this important process for our team and Peyton,” he continued. “It was a productive visit and went well.”

Welcome Turbo, you should move post to new blog. Mighta been missed in this blog … but i agree … but I catch heat as a younger bronco fan … hearing guys who or long time fans question things makes me feel sane … cuz clearly u guys have been fans for years, aren’t going anywhere, and love the TEAM.
TRB
i dont think anybody has to worry about tebow, manning is not going to pick denver
Elway is doing a great job at his position for the team going after Manning, a True Hall of Famer to be…. I’ve always been 100% supportive of Elway as a QB….. BUT….. I THINK HE CAN HANDLE TEBOW AND THE BRONCO FANS A LOT, A LOT BETTER.
I don’t know if Elway has had ANY talks with Tebow since all this Manning crap, but he should of = I feel he hasn’t…. it’s just a feeling. I am watching and hearing how Elway Treats Tebow – and damn it…. I like Elway, but can’t he give the Kid support? If Tebow had Elway in his corner, maybe we would of made it to the Superbowl…. I mean, Why isn’t Elway talking to the OC and telling him that Tebow needs to RADICALLY CHANGE his cadence calls when hiking the ball??? Last year, I listened and it was the same bark right before the hike – I guess Manning coming here would be a good thing (if Tebow stays) because somebody would teach Tebow something that ELWAY AND MANNING ARE THE MASTERS AT.
I just want to say….
ELWAY DON’T YOU DARE TRADE OR DROP TEBOW – IF YOU DO, I’LL HATE YOU FOREVER….. TEBOW IS WHO WE BRONCO FANS HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR SINCE YOU RETIRED – GIVE HIM YOU LOVE AND GUIDANCE!…. As far as Manning, Thank you for stepping up and showing what someone in your position should do – great job….. ONE LAST THING… KEEP TEBOW EVEN IF YOU GET MANNING….. Manning could go down and If Tebow isn’t there – YOU ARE GONNA BE HATED = HATED = HATED!!!! I hope you understand, I am a True Bronco Fan Mr. Elway, I started watching the Broncos the year they went to their first superbowl….. Since I got your ear, something has been bothering me about the Broncos…. Why didn’t Gradishar’s Number get retired? Why isn’t he in the hall of Fame? I’ve never seen a Line Backer in so many tackles over and over – that man was the best = Please don’t screw up on Tebow, He’s gonna win us some championships and Peyton will be gone in a few years – KEEP TIM TEBOW!!!!
I do not need one more horror movie as we had few years ago Cutler/McDaniel, that time we had a good QB that was hurt when the coach start looking form a QB’s. now we may have same scenario with Tebow/Elway.
I should feel pretty excited about Peyton coming to Denver. But despite what all the “I just want to be negative to get the listeners” media says. Tebow is a winner and just makes Denver a better team, a better place. I will be so unbelievably disappointed in John Elway if he lets Tebow go. Irrevocably so.
Seriously?!?!?! You took on Manning?!?!?!?! You idiot! Four neck surgeries in one year? You have an up and coming football sensation with Tebow who has many, many, many good years ahead of him! Why would you want to blow that? If you lose him, you will lose TONS of fans, including me! I will support whichever team Tebow is on. Get real, Elway! Stop trying to stroke your ego and make a name for YOURSELF as a retired football player. Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!
Looks like manning is picking denver. Very dissappointed. I’m not a tebow fanatic, in fact I was furrious when we drafted him. But he has shown me he can win and is willing to do the work to improve, but we aren’t willing to give him the chance. Instead we pick a guy that is at the end of his career and has had four neck surgeries. Yes he has been cleared, but who is to say that one good hit won’t mess him up again. Then if we get rid tebow we will probably will just have some crappy no name guy at back-up and we will end up like the colts. Losing! At least we know tebow can win, even though they may not be the prettiest wins. John is my favorite player ever, but that fact that he is basically turning his back on tebow, makes me very dissapointed in his caracter. Keep your dang word and work with the kid john! I honestly think that this just delays our rebuilding 3 more years at least, since we probably won’t bother to draft another qb until peyton is done, then we have to devlop him. Unless we win at least one super bowl in the next three years then this is a waste of time and money. If we do win a super bowl with peyton i’ll swallow my pride. But I will also be standing there saying I told you so when we don’t.
na na na na, na na na na, hey, hey goodbye! Tebow!
The Bronco organization doesn’t even care what we as fans want anymore. I liked our team better when Bowlen was young. It seems in his old age he has lost his mind. Also I love love love John Elway but again not as a VP of football operations. This is a TERRIBLE move. I”m so upset right now. It’s becoming harder and harder to stay a Bronco fan as the years go on.
You can’t honestly try to trade Tebow…he’s our first QB with any heart for a long time, and now you’re going to simply bounce him for another QB with an “iffy” shoulder/neck injury…THINK LONG TERM and consider your fans…you know, us fans who buy tickets, apparel, etc that let you keep the team!
Elway, wake the hell up and listen to your fans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Really Elway!! This is not the way you treat players or fans!! You told everyone that Tebow would be a Bronco for a long time, and now because you think you have a great QB, Oh well sucks to be you Tebow, we don’t need you anymore!! What happens when the offensive line does exactly what they did for Orton and Manning gets crushed and is out for good, Forever, then what?? Don’t play the PRIDE games, keep Tebow, let him and Peyton work together, 1. Making Tebow a better QB 2. helping the team be better with a good backup, 3. giving opposing teams twice the problems when dealing with Denver knowing Peyton will kill them in the air, and Tebow will kill them on the ground!! Think this through John, don’t let pride make you regret this later!!! I’m a long time Broncos fan, but I won’t be anymore if you don’t make the right decision.
ELWAY, Be smart and KEEP TEBOW TO LEARN FROM MANNING! DO NOT TRADE TEBOW. I GUARANTEE YOU THIS IS NOT A SMART MOVE IF MANNING GETS HURTS WHO IN THE HELL WILL YOU HAVE. MANNING IS SHORT TERM HE EVEN SAID SO HIMSELF!! GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR YOU KNOW WHAT AND BE A BRONCO NOT A DONKEY!! I GUARANTEE YOU IF MANNING GETS HURT AND WE HAVE SOME ROOKIE OR JOE SMOE AS SECOND STRINGER LOSE ANOTHER SEASON YOU WILL BE HATED AND DENOUNCED POSSIBLY LOSING YOUR JOB AS WELL AS THE RESPECT FROM US LONTIME FANS!! BE SMART KEEP TEBOW QUIT HATING BECAUSE HE HAS BELIEFS AND IS SHATTERING YOUR RECORDS.
I would prefer that Denver keeps Tebow AND has Manning. The two of them collaborating would set up for a very potent offense that could be nearly unstoppable. IF the “John’s” wanted to help develop a young qb in Tebow, Manning would be the best bet as a succesful developmental tutor.
With Denver picking up Manning, Tim Tebow may find himself a man (or a QB) without a team, as other franchises are unwilling to take the risk of his unconventional style (even if it was a style that won 6 straight, the AFC West and a Wild Card game). But, I don’t think Tebow will care. While all the hoopla was going on in Denver, Tebow was meeting with wounded vets, disable children and opening a new play area at the Dreams Come True facility in Jacksonville.
The Tebow Foundation worked with Dreams Come True and The Jacksonville Rotary Club to build the playroom here. Tebow’s goal is to have 18 of them built around the world.
The rooms have games and activities for children fighting sicknesses.
“We just want to help people,” said the Denver Broncos quarterback.
“We want to bring faith, hope, and love to those needing a brighter day in their darkest hour of need.”
Tebow says the playrooms reflect his ultimate passion to make a difference in people’s lives, not to win football games or be the best quarterback.
“We can accomplish something big because we serve a big God and when we serve a big God, big things are possible.”
I don’t think he is too worried about the logo on a helmet or the color of a jersey.
please keep tebow, we have the cap space. we can use him in short yardage and trick plays. let him play when peyton’s retired. we need bunkley, woodyard back please… lets get saturday, clark, and a speedy wr in the draft. for the rest of the draft lets go DL, DB, DL, DB, LB, RB. i bet dawkins will be back now haha.
I seriously dont know what some of u guys have!
Im thrilled to see Peyton Manning becoming a Bronco in Charge – Neck-surgeries or not, age past mid 30 or not – Peyton Manning (despite of his age) still belongs to the best of the best that the NFL have to offer and if u like it or not – he will be a big upgrade to Tim Tebow as soon as he becomes comfortable with the whole team and all.
Tim Tebow lead the Broncos into the Quarter-finals and there the Story has come to an end – but with Manning in Charge the Broncos will once again have Superbowl potential – you’ll see!
Don’t pick on Elway for not standing behind Tebow, instead you should rather congratulate him that he was able to grab the Legend that Manning is – yes, he might have missed an entire Season due to his neck-troubles but that will even make him more eager and hungry to show what he still got in the tank for the upcoming Season – i have no doubts about that!
So in charge of everyone that cares i say – welcome to the Broncos Peyton!
Congrats! You’ve just set the franchise back years! Good job McDanie– I mean, EFX! Way to completely throw the whole transparency thing under the bus. You know, when you said you’d be honest with the fans. Signing Manning after declaring Tebow the starter going into training camp doesn’t seem to match up. But then again, that was your plan, right? Find an excuse to jettison Tebow without provoking the fan base too much? Forget you guys. Not sure I’ll be able to watch the Broncos next year if they trade Tebow.
Mixed feelings right now. I love Tebow as a person and a competitor.
If they trade TEbow I wish him the best.
He is a great kid.
How do we get better on Defense. I sy go sign Aaron Ross CB from Giants.
GOOD GOD!!!!! Tebow fans do us Bronco fans a favor and go crawl into the deep, dark whole you came from!! I’ve never seen any of your names before – so please, take your fanboy club somewhere else. I’m ashamed of all of you.
I’m personally very excited and grateful to see Peyton play in orange and blue! Welcome to Bronco Nation! The real fans are very happy to have you here. Excuse the Tebow fanboys.
This is some food for thought for all the folks on here saying they will leave if Tebow leaves, well consider this…Peyton Manning will bring more fans with him from Indy (just like me) than I am sure will leave with Tebow. I could be wrong, but I would think this is right, since I was a colts fan since the day they moved to Indy and I left with Manning and and that is way more history compared to Tebow’s. Just my thoughts on the whole thing….Go Broncos…as soon as PM signs the deal:)
Big mistake, long term, Broncos. For one thing, too much money spent on a QB that doesn’t have long term potential, doesn’t know any system but that of the Colts, doesn’t allow his second string QB to develop. Plus, if you kick Tebow to the curb, you’ll have to waste more money on a second string QB, with Quinn already gone. So, no big improvements to the OL, or receiver corps. How good will Manning be when he’s on his back, or has nobody to throw to? He’s surely not going to be able to run the ball. The only logical thing to do now is make sure Tebow stays, maybe even as RB for a while. Manning won’t last, and WHEN he gets hurt, you’ll be prepared. Lose Tebow, you’re screwed WHEN Manning gets hurt.
But, we’re just fans, we’re only good for spending our money on tickets and merchandise, right? What we the fans think or want from our Broncos doesn’t really matter. Nevermind the tremendous growth in the Broncos fan base, since Tebow signed. A growth that rivaled that of the signing of the Great John Elway. It appears to me by reading comments from true fans that your current fan base will be following Tebow, wherever he goes. Thats the money, isn’t it? Without us lowly fans, where would you be?
I’m very excited we got one of the best qb’s to play the game. Its a risk but a risk worth taking especially if it pans out. As far as Tebow he is a great person but not a great qb. As a Broncos fan all I want to see is the broncs win a super bowl. Great pick up Elway thanks for bringing an elite qb back to the Broncos. There are more fans that are happy about this pick up than are angry. Unfortunately the only people who comment are the ones that are angry not nearly as many comment that are happy. Go Broncos Super Bowl in the near future!
Don’t like Manning. Has been, Tebow has a strong following, give him a chance. Front office, bad call, even my wife says she’s going to root for Dallas if this comes through, and we hate Dallas.
We need to trade Tebow asap, all he is going to be is a distaction from a REAL QB!!!!! Get whatever you can for him and get him out of here. Way to go EFX, you have brought excitement and hope back to all of BRONCOS COUNTRY!!!
I for one have never posted on this site but for the Love of God grow up people. We have arguably just acquired the Greatest QB of all times. Yes he has had neck injuries that numerous Doctors have cleared Him to play. His neck is stronger than before due to modern tools they now have to repair such injuries. Any player putting on a helmet takes a risk of getting hurt as Football is a very rough sport. Tim Tebow will be just fine with his strong faith. If he is just a valuable QB why are teams not lined up to make him their Franchise QB. He has a long way to go and may never be that great player that many of You think that he will. It is a decision that was made with the best interest of the team. I wish both of them the best and Hope and Pray that Peyton stays healthy and does not get injured. I also Hope and Pray that a team acquires Tim and that he also stays healthy, does not get injured and acquires the skills that he is seriously lacking and becomes a great QB. This is coming from a Women so what do I know right? Ideally we keep Tim and have the best of both worlds which would be awesome but most likely not going to happen.
I guess none of us really knows Elway’s plan or contingency plans, but I for one don’t believe he intends to trade Tebow now that we’ve signed Manning. Elway knows better than most of us the risks involved with injury to Manning. I just have to believe he sees Manning as in immediate improvement to the Broncos and the best possible mentor for Tebow. Elway isn’t so short-sighted as to leave us in that vulnerable position. Additionally, Tebow has shown the humility to accept Manning as a mentor and ultimately as a coach.
It’s my hope that Manning’s contract has an injury clause that will automatically move him to a QB coaching position should he become permanently sidelined. At this stage of his playing career, THAT is where his long-term value lies.
I have been a Broncos fan since I was old enough to watch TV. I have stuck by them for nearly 35 years. I stood by them during the Elway era even though I couldn’t stand him and even stood by them when they made the biggest mistake and brought Orton on.
It was exciting to see Tebow come on as Orton’s replacement and help bring the Broncos to the play-offs. It was a well deserved confidence booster for the team. Tebow is still a little green under the collar but with the proper training, I feel he could be unstoppable. So why the talk of trading him??? Is it because Elway such a pompous, arrogant soul that he is afraid Tebow will show him up?? It is no secret of the hatred Elway feels for Tebow but this is a business and you need to put those feelings aside for the betterment of the team.
I am not on board with Manning being brought in as Tebow’s replacement, he is too old and washed-up, however I will remain a loyal fan UNLESS they get rid of Tebow; I can only sit back and support a team through so many mistakes before it is time to move on.
Manning will only be looking out for himself, and the Broncos will NEVER be a real “TEAM” without Tebow. For the first time in ages we saw what teamwork was all about. Give the young guy a chance and watch what transpires. Fine, IF Manning will help Tebow, and that’s a big IF, but he won’t. He’s too much into himself, just like Elway. Too bad. Yes, many, many fans will leave if Tebow leaves. From what I’ve heard on the outside, no one is excited about Old Man Manning, so I doubt very many fans will follow him to the Broncos. Wow! What a way to ruin a team that is finally starting to get their game on.
I got it! Let’s get rid of Elway instead of Tebow! What an AWESOME thought!
LOL I am a huge Colts fan and also a huge Manning fan. I am truely disappointed that they let Manning go. But as for this mess it is also a BUSINESS decision and what is best for a team due to being a “Win Now” mentality. Even with losing Manning I am still a TRUE BLUE COLTS fan and also continue to follow Manning and now cheer for the Broncos. PSSS Manning only had 3 surgeries and as with any player in the NFL it only takes 1 wrong hit to knock any of them out! Good luck this year Broncos and Jeff Satuday is now comming for a visit also…..
I’ve never been a big Peyton Manning fan. I’ve liked him, and I greatly respect him. As long as they didn’t threat my Broncos, I would always root for the Colts and Manning. And when Tim Tebow showed up, I liked the kid cause he had courage and a passion not only for the game but for the good of the world. So here’s what I think. John Elway should sign Manning for second string. Let Tebow be starter. He’s still young and working out the kinks yet, and this season, the Broncos did pretty good with him. Let Manning fully recover as second string and let him take it easy. I’m not saying this because I like both Tebow and Manning. I’m saying this because I’m a true Broncos fan and I want to take them to the top. My input will probably get overlooked, but hopefully someone will look at it and stop all this crap either hating on either of the QBs or the Broncos because it is “unloyal” to their team. And hopefully, this is what would happen as far as the Broncos go.
If Manning is the “best of the best” and such an “elite QB” then why did the Colts let him go? Somebody wake up! Manning is a has been.
lol tbofan it’s simple. Colts do not have the salary cap space to keep both Manning and the soon to be #1 draft pick Luck. Colts already know that they would have to rebuild eventually and since they have the #1 pick the time for them is now (Colts were 2-14 without Manning).
I’m done with the Broncos. Been a fan for many years and stuck through the high’s and low’s. This is rock bottom for me. Farewell and Good Riddance. Looking forward to Manning playing as he has for the last 5 years (1 playoff appearance) and the chant’s of “Tebow” ringing out across the field.
Thank You neandrthal29 well said and the reason they did Have to let him go. Every team out there would like to have that opportunity to get Luck but Indy is the only one that is going to get him.
@topgun, 2007.2008, 2009, 2010 colts went to the playoffs 2011 manning out colts didn’t go.
Being a broncos fan is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get.
You guys suck!!!!!!!!!!!!Manning sucks!!!!!!!THE COLTS LET HIM GO.
If they didnt or couldnt afford that pick and manning was still awesome they could have traded out of it.
WE JUST SOLD OUR SOULS TO THE DEVIL FOR A HAS BEEN. AND WILL TRADE THE ONLY GOOD THING WE HAVE HAD IN YEARS
Neanderthal your an idiot. Get off the bronco website
Manning never does anything in the playoffs and the one superbowl he has came against the worst team to make the superbowl in NFL history.
worst day ever
Sold our souls. way to go elway
If I remember right someone put up a Tebow billboard to get him in and that same person put up another billboard asking for a Bronco fan vote for Tebow or Manning and the outcome was 66% for Manning. This is a sad way to welcome a Manning & Colt fan who is willing to cheer for the Broncos, pleasure to meet you anyway and GOD BLESS
Please keep Tebow! If we have to have Manning, let Tebow learn under him and play. Not sure Manning will give us the excitement that Tebow did.
I am so shocked to see how many people are not being Bronco fans about this. Listen, I’ve loved Tim since day one of Florida, but I never in a million years thought we’d draft him. When we did I was excited, but he had no one to learn from and one horrible off season with nothing to learn from due to a lock out. He improved immensely over the season and I would LOVE to have him stay. I think that’s what’s BEST for his future career anyways and we all know that he is not the prototypical QB who is hungry for the spot light. However, this opportunity DOES NOT come around EVER in a million years. NEVER! Peyton Manning is, in my opinion, the best QB to ever play the game of football. He changed the position of QB in ways we will be chatting about 40 years from now. Buck up and be a BRONCO FAN not a specific PLAYER’s fan. I want Champ Bailey to get a Super Bowl ring more than any of those other guys out there and I love Timmy and I think he could take us there one day, but not soon–not as fast as Peyton can and dang it… I am tired of playing “Who’s going to be the starting QB of the Denver Broncos?” on a daily basis.
AND! Tim Tebow and Peyton Manning have the SAME percentage of getting hurt at any moment in ANY football game they ever play. That argument that Peyton won’t be able to play because of his neck surgeries is bogus and puts no faith in our incredibly awesome offensive line.
I have been a Bronco fan for many years. I have followed them since the late 70′s. I am a female that loves her broncos. I have a leather broncos jacket that I wear with pride every season. If they get rid of Tebow I will wear the jacket no more! I will hide my head in shame and not claim I ever loved the Broncos. When John Elway joined the team he was green and needed a lot of work. They stuck with him and he turned into the best QB Denver has ever had. Why would you not want to take Tebow and make him into the remarkable QB that we fans know he can be? The only think I can think of is that Elway is protecting himself as the greatest QB in Denver History. He is afraid that Tebow will out do him. Elway, if you truly know what is best for the team, keep the kid as someone once did for you!!!!!!
Way to go EFX. The Broncos just became a serious contender. TT is a great kid, great athlete but cmon folks…he is not even close and never will be close to the calibar of Peyton.
This conversation would not even be happening without Tim having a great defense, fantastic kicker, and a whole lot of luck. Look I am a Tebow fan…heck I bought a #15 Jersey. He was fun to root for…but first and foremost I am a Bronco fan.
It seems most of the fans missed all the horrible throws to wide open recievers that Tebow made…all the missed reads, But without Prater we don’t make the playoffs.
It was fun but it is over…Now we have a quarterback and EFX are doing a great job to get us back to where we almost were before the McDaniels debacle.
Can’t wait til August!!
okay getting Peyton manning was a good move but look at it this way. If he gets hurt who are we then going to put in if we get rid of tebow? We should at least keep tebow for two more yrs to improve and see what he can do, before we throw him in front of a bus. I am i die hard Bronco fan and I will be beyond disappointed if we get rid of him beacuse of manning.
I think the lockout last year really hurt Tebow’s development. If he would’ve been able to spend a regular offseason with Fox he would’ve been much more comfortable and productive. Manning is a great addition to the team and will really help the Broncos to go far this year. Tebow and Manning can co-exist well due to both of their great characters. However, if Tebow is not the style of QB Elway and the team is looking for I hope he goes to a team that will believe in him and give him a chance to show all his talents. All in all, I’m so thankful Manning chose the Broncos and wish all the best to Tebow however things turn out.
