Jackson Waived

August 4th, 2011 - 2:26pm by Gray Caldwell

The Broncos on Thursday waived cornerback Chevis Jackson.

The move made room for defensive lineman Ty Warren on the 90-man roster.

Jackson was awarded to the Broncos off waivers from New England on Dec. 20, 2010.

To those I told that I would be going to practice this afternoon, I don’t think I will be going after all. It is already raining and the Denver metro area is in line for severe storms this afternoon and evening.

I don’t want to sit on wet grass and if there is lightning, practice will be delayed or canceled. I will try to attend tomorrow’s practice–weather permitting.

  10. baylinorcrush says:

Rain!!! Lucky dogs, we don’t even know what that is around here anymore.

  11. caramelloo says:

Man poor Chevis jackson just can’t stick with a team. In other news Tebow needs to step his game up. I know he’s a real time type of athlete who thrives when it counts, but he needs to do some things now bc Orton is a seasoned “Practice” champ. No QB looks better than Orton does in practice when the QB’s are off limits.

  12. henryac says:

That all ends in a bout a week. Lets see what happens when the real fur starts flyiong.

  13. baylinorcrush says:

Former Bills S Donte Whitner did NOT go to Cincinnati. He agreed to a 3-year, $11.75 million deal with $4 million gtd with the 49ERS

That’s why the niners are shopping that other safety around through e-mails.

  14. caramelloo says:

Yeah henry lets get going! My wife already ordered the NFL ticket so I’m set to see every Broncos game! This will be the first time that I’ve seen every game on tv

  15. Ohio says:

    Bay,
After reading your post about Whitner I was like “wait a minute” becasue I was on profootballtalk.com and they had it posted that Whitner signed with the Bungles. Seems you’re ahead of them in terms of knowing what’s really up because I went back and checked again and they have new post of him joining the 49ers. What that tells me is to pay more attention!

  16. Ohio says:

    pay more attention here….

  17. baylinorcrush says:

I have no idea how you survived that…

    Welcomed information:

Kyle Orton has not officially been anointed as starting quarterback of the Broncos, but in his words and his play, Orton is making a strong case to remain atop the quarterback depth chart at Dove Valley.

“I haven’t been told anything,” Orton said this morning after a walk-through practice. “That’s how I go about it, just letting my play speak for itself on the field. I feel like I’m playing good football right now.”

Orton’s comments echoed statements made by coach John Fox Wednesday evening, shooting down several national media reports that Orton had been officially given the starting job over Tim Tebow and Brady Quinn.

  22. baylinorcrush says:

“My story has been the same, regardless of what you hear. I’m in those meetings every day. I know what’s said to everybody and nothing has changed. We’ve been singing the same song since seven months ago, so that remains the same,” Fox said. “All I’m concerned with is what happens in that building. We can’t help what happens outside the building. I think everything is going as well as it could possibly go right now in all those rooms in there.”

So, Fox has not made Orton the starter “officialy” but he has been saying all along if the season would start now he is the starter because he is the starter now, so sorry if we are a bit confused, at least I am.

  23. strandoftds says:

Orton was interview today by Jim Rome and said the same thing in that he was never told that he (Orton) was named the starter. It was just CIRCUS MEDIA at it`s finest and many had taken it hook, line, and sinker. I don`t buy it when a word comes from the NFL Network, YEAH RIGHT!!!!!!

  24. baylinorcrush says:

I mean Orton has been practicing with the ones all along and nothing but the ones, so what’s to make us think he’s not the one, haha.

  25. strandoftds says:

Remember Orton is a great practice QB and chokes when the games on the line. Tebow is a gamer and a winner.

  26. strandoftds says:

The practices have just started and we have a month long preseason, it`s far to early to say whats going to happen come week 1 of the regular season. My two cents.

  27. sndvl says:

Lol imready! It’s not my primary. But if I do receive anything interesting, I will definitely share it!!!

  28. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Glad its not official. I would have been sad just because it goes against everything Fox said about a fair competition before week one. We are only 1 week into TC, havent even played a preseason game. All these things need to be factored into the discussion. Who knows, maybe Orton does good in preseason or someone elses potential starting QB goes down (not wishing harm on anyone, just the nature of the game) and someone comes knocking. Either way, Im just glad its a fair competition even tho I dont think the competition can be truly fair without sharing first team snaps but thats the nature of the league. Orton is the proven vet, he is “better” now, ergo he is at the top of the depth chart. TRB

  29. prospector1 says:

I guarantee that their is a divided locker room right now. Trust me the men want to roll with Tebow/Quinn… Champ made it clear at the end of the season with his comments. The team made it clear with their emotion. But we may never find out… The QB competion was over as soon as Fox was named Head Coach. A tiger doesn’t change it’s stripes. Fox hasn’t and will never change. Also here is my conspiracy theory, Elway has a BIG EGO. So maybe old Johnny Boy doesn’t want a BIGGER FISH starting here in his town… Cause if and when TIMMY starts he will not only big in D-town, but he will be HUGE on a national scale… So, I hope I’m wrong but Johnny boy may send Tebow packing after this season if Orton gets 8 or 9 wins. COME ON JOHN!!! PROVE ME WRONG!!!!!!

  30. 1nOnlyTRB says:

anyone wanna start a broncos blog league for fun. we can do it on nfl.com . 12 man league … assuming we can get up to 12 people that are down lol. First come first serve lol.

  31. 1nOnlyTRB says:

I like how they make it seem like Lloyd is backing Orton and puttign down Tebow with his recent commetns on SI interview. Wasn’t how I heard it, and wasn’t what I heard coming from him at the end of last season. But then again like he said, he was getting ready for Tebow cuz thats what he was told, thats what Tebow was told, and thats what everyone understood. But tis business … things change.

  32. baylinorcrush says:

Like, yeah, when you find out you can’t trade Orton, haha.

  33. prospector1 says:

GOOD NIGHT ALL… and oh yeah… DUMP ORTON !!!!

  34. baylinorcrush says:

The Lloyd thing is way past weird, you are absolutely correct that he praised Tebow while he started the three games and the intensity he brough to the entire team, he praised him all off season and couldn’t spend enough time to think of how he would have to adjust to best compliment Tebow and now his quotes are all for Orton, I got your back you should be the one and if you’re not it’s a terrible mistake, just as when he was in SF and they let go of Rattay for Alex Smith. And it’s not how the press makes it sound, I just go by his quotes. Total 180 degree turn, and that’s a bit troublesome to me, always liked him but he is not making too many friends right now trying to be everybody’s friend. It’s almost like an employee doing some butt licking with his bosses.

I am past the start Tebow/trade Orton thing…I think unless this is some genius ploy by EFX to get more value when we trade Orton than Orton is probably going to be the guy!…I’ll get over that, but Denver needs to help Tebow develop this year and give him a shot next year! I’ve decided that all I want to see is Tebow get 10+ starts in a season, if they think sitting him one more year will benefit Tebow then so be it! All I want is Tebow to get a shot! if not this year than I hope he’s the starter in 2012! Tebow will rebound hard from all of this controversy and it will push him to truly better himself!….Don’t give up on Tebow EFX!

  40. strandoftds says:

It`s raining cats and dogs here in Colorado Springs. I wonder if the Broncos will practice indoors today If Denver is getting drenched?

  41. BroncWild says:

I hear that McGahee is running wild at his first practice as a Bronco. I’m glad to hear that good news.

  42. baylinorcrush says:

I’m so stoked I promise you guys we are going to play in January this season.

  43. iamabroncofan26 says:

Question fellow bronco lovers? Have we ever thought of having a 2 QB system. Why not be inovative and be unique to the game and have a 2 QB system where kyle orton is the primary QB for unique passing situations where maybe more QB skill is required and then have Tebow come in on other downs where he can throw, run, scramble, or option?

If the wildcat was sucessful why cant this be?!:salute:

  44. Mikeyb1203 says:

What I don’t understand is that why is Tebow and Quinn not getting ones time. That seems to me that it’s not much of a fair competition unless I missed something. But it would seem more fair if they shared the ones equally.

  45. BeastFromEast92 says:

I give up trying to figure all this B.S. out.Last year it was McDufus, now this year it is EFX,hey how about letting the fans in on the plans,if you know what they our yourselves. All I am is a dummy that has been a dedicated Broncos fan for 29 years now,and have never been thru this much soap opera drama in my life. What happened to the fan first concept Mr.Elway?

Is Tebow going to get a shot this year, how about next year, are we going to trade Orton, how about Tebow, how about a few answers huh????????

  46. RSH says:

    BFE92,

Do you honestly think that it’s a good idea for fans to direct the decisions that management and coaches make concerning personnel, who starts, who plays where, which schemes are used, etc.?

I respect your input and ideas, but I still think that coaches and management know better than the vast majority of fans. Additionally, the whole name calling thing is quite juvenile and only discounts the good points and solid contributions you often make.

  47. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Bold claim Baylin. you are usually more level headed. Cautiously optimistic i believe you call it. But to say we will play in January … wow, the bronco fan optimism must have just taken you over for a sec. I believe its possible. We were bad last year, but wasn’t for a lack of talent only, but for a lack of preparation which falls on McD. With an improved line, and hopefully an emphasis on wraping up when you tackle. Anything is possible. Especially if McGahee keeps up that running. I am pro Moreno but McGahee and especially Fannin have me so excited. TRB

  48. baylinorcrush says:

LMAO @ TRB, finally somebody bit on that one big time, hahahaha, we are playing the Chiefs on January 1st, LOL.

  49. BeastFromEast92 says:

RSH,I could care less what you think about me,you are no better for calling me a juvenile, and I will express myself any way I want,if you don’t like it,don’t read my posts, you have attacked me twice now,and if all you can do is attack the way I express myself then I would appreciate if you do not address me anymore!!!

Furthermore I think as a fan I have the right to question the decisions that management makes, that’s what fans do!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  50. baylinorcrush says:

RSH, I don’t want to talk for BFE but it seems to me is not telling the Broncos how to do it, rather he would like to know how they will.
