Inside the Numbers

November 8th, 2011 - 12:21pm by Stuart Zaas

1
Wide receiver Eddie Royal became the first player in the NFL this season to return a punt for a touchdown and catch a touchdown pass in the same game. He is the second Bronco to accomplish that feat, joining Rick Upchurch, who did so in 1982.

2
Wide receiver Eric Decker moved into a tie for second in the league with his sixth touchdown reception of the season on Sunday. The second-year wideout is also tied for the second-most multiple-touchdown games (2) this season.

8.2
Running back Willis McGahee finished with 163 yards on 20 carries, averaged 8.2 yards per carry — the third-highest single-game average in the NFL this season (min. 20 carries). His 163 yards were the second-most in his career. With his two scores Sunday, the ninth-year running back now ranks third since he entered the league in 2004, with 58 career rushing touchdowns.

11
Chris Harris led the team with 11 tackles against the Raiders, marking the second consecutive week he’s paced the team in stops. His 11 tackles tied for the fifth most by a cornerback in team history and tied for 11th in NFL history by an undrafted cornerback (according to press box totals).

50
With his two interceptions against the Raiders on Sunday, cornerback Champ Bailey reached the 50-interception milestone for his career. The 10-time Pro Bowler ranks third in interceptions since his rookie season in 1999 and his 32 interceptions as a Bronco are sixth-most on the all-time franchise list.

118
Quarterback Tim Tebow racked up a career-high 118 rushing yards on Sunday to become just the 16th quarterback in NFL history since 1950 to rush for 100 yards in a game. The 118 yards are the second most by a quarterback in Broncos history and Tebow now owns three of the top four single-game rushing performances by a quarterback in club annals. He is just the sixth quarterback in league history to rush for 100 yards and pass for at least two touchdowns in a single game. Tebow became just the 16th quarterback since 1950 to top the 100-yard rushing mark.

299
Denver’s 299 rushing yards as a team represented the fourth-highest total in team history and the most since the Broncos posted 301 rushing yards in a 38-31 win over Seattle on Nov. 26, 2000. Sunday marked the first time the Broncos have had a pair of 100-yard rushers in the same game since Mike Anderson and Tatum Bell accomplished the feat on Oct. 30, 2005.

3- Career multi score games for Eddie Royal. (Broncos are 3-0 in these games) lol. Sorry if I sound redundant. I sincerely hope moving forward the staff find ways to get Royal involved more. His in-game success correlates with overall Denver Bronco success…

    GO BRONCOS!!!

  2. strandoftds says:

Good all around stats but what I like most of all is the WIN!

  3. sndvl says:

Lazy rainy day here…took a peek ahead at the schedule…we have a quick turnaround after Sunday, when we host the Jets on Thursday evening.

If anybody cares, we play at noon on Sunday. The Jets get NE in the Sunday night game…

We need all the advantages we can get!

    GO BRONCOS!!!

  4. RH709 says:

After Royal score on the punt return I told my wife, “we have no reason to throw the ball anymore in this game.” The D held the raiders off and Fox and McCoy called nothing but run plays the rest of the game.

Icing on the cake is that the Raiders knew we wouldn’t throw another pass and we still marched down to get McGahee TD number 2.

Will NFL Replay reair this game? I forgot to record it.

  5. strandoftds says:

RH709, I hope so. I`d like to see it again.

  6. jwscout says:

New England just cut Haynesworth. Not sure if he’s worth the drama though!

  7. Atwater4HOF says:

Not worth the drama. Hard to believe he went from being unstoppable to bouncing from team to team as an ineffective cry baby

  8. strandoftds says:

Our D is finally putting it together.

  9. papacy808 says:

Soon as the offence becomes more comfortable Tebow will be calling more of the plays… Just a matter of time… Just saying

  10. Twogunz says:

Shoot we already picked up enough drama from New England with Ty Warren, Dont need any more BS or IR players

  11. Twogunz says:

Oh yea and Wilhite too, I dunno why but I dont like that dude, He keeps lettin guys get behind em. We need to stop pickin up the scraps left over by NE

  12. daddybronc says:

Remember – McHoodlum was also junk that came outta NE. If Bellychick can’t do anything with ‘em…don’t need that problem on the Broncos.
No Thank You – very much!

  13. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Psssh yall are tripping … id welcome Haynesworth in a heartbeat … unfortunately i dunno if how good he is anymore but with Only Bunkley and Marcus Thomas for the most part (McBean and Unrein are just ok) … Haynes worth could be worth it. At least for the rest of the year. Till we draft a new one. Point being our DT position is extremely lacking … iw ould welcome the devil himself at this point … and maybe we will finally be able to rotate guys in and out effectively. TRB

  14. amschroed89 says:

Loved every yard of that 298 on the ground!

  15. bronco life says:

hanynesworth is not on patriots anymore cause he dont want to work!he already got paid and has no desire to play his best, until all the moneys gone!waste of good talent.GUNNA BE REAL QUIET IN K.C AFTER WE BEAT THEM!GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  16. timmah says:

Maybe Tebows influence on Haynes would be good. Just a thought

  17. Broncfalls says:

I can see the headlines now.

Haynesworth to the Broncos. Pending a physical and excorcism by quarterback Tim Tebow.

    GO GET EM’ BOYS!

  18. daddybronc says:

TRB – focus is on character, not talent. That’s the reason Plummer took the Broncos farther than Cutler. (By the way – Lovie is a guy that knows how to build character into a player – I’m saying, “Look at Cutler now.” Couldn’t have happened in Denver – not then.)

    No Haynesworth!!!

  19. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Cutler could have taken us … him and Marshall … our offense was very potent … our defense was all that was lacking daddy … Cutler is the same guy he was in denver … a lil older and more mature (which comes with time) but the same guy … We never had major problems with him until McDaniels came … same with Marshall. McD was the problem within a year Dennison left, Nolan left, RB coach left, He got rid of more talent and etc. Guy was a jerk.

And I hear talent over character but like I said … for the rest of this year till we get some real replacement in the draft … our Dline play is horrible in my book and you cannot ride on character alone. But yes i do like the character mentality first but that will only take you so far … ask plummer.

  20. strandoftds says:

Haynesworth would be a detriment to our team. No thanks.

  21. 1nOnlyTRB says:

    character over talent*

Either way … Carolinas DT play is crap too curtoesy of Fox so they might claim him of waivers before us anyway … whoever is willing to take the headache … can’t say that we are but I wouldn’t be opposed to the idea is all im saying. TRB

  22. strandoftds says:

And for those who think that we will get a DT in the first round of the 2012 draft, it`s not going to happen. A DE or CB, yes, but a DT, not even. Fox proved that last year.

  23. 1nOnlyTRB says:

But then again the guy only has 3 tackles this year so how much help would he even be any way … but at 750,000 dollars I am sure someone will take the risk to evaluate him for the rest of the year.

  24. strandoftds says:

Haynesworth is being humbled thats a given. Is he washed up, I don`t know but his attitude and late play really sucks.

  25. baylinorcrush says:

TRB disregarding characters issues as usual, the good samaritan wanting to re-hab everyone, haha.

  26. 1nOnlyTRB says:

What can I say … I think everyone can be saved … but I think our Dline needs the rehab more than he does LOL. But then again after I saw that in 8 games all he has is 3 tackles … not sure if thats even worth the risk. The old talented haynesworth on the other hand might have been.

  27. OrangeTsunami says:

Good afternoon fellow Bronco fans!! Tuesday’s are much better after rippin’ the Raiders!! Looks like the Haynesworth talk has started already…. lol

  28. OrangeTsunami says:

Too bad we put Ty on the IR, I thought at the time if we held a spot for him, he’d be returning in a few weeks..

  29. baylinorcrush says:

Had we kept Warren off IR the soonest he could of returned was in December.

  30. baylinorcrush says:

    I got a new one:

    Haintworthadime.

  31. OrangeTsunami says:

Just in time for our playoff run!!! ;)

  32. 1nOnlyTRB says:

I don’t even know if Ty will be back with Denver next year … he is no spring chicken and this injury just shows what might be a repeat occurence next year…. but then again 31yrs old isn’t that bad when u don’t have many options. TRB

  33. OrangeTsunami says:

Yeah, who knows… I saw that mock draft someone posted earlier.. It had Worthy falling to the Giants.. They have such a great front 7, even with all their injuries. I hope we can start a defensive drafting tradition like them

  34. OrangeTsunami says:

Anyone hear on Larson’s injury? Hope he’s Ok.. I’ve always liked that kid

  35. strandoftds says:

Jerel Worthy is not a bad pick but I don`t see Fox drafting a DT with our first pick.

  36. BroncoBoy2012 says:

Jared Crick anyone? I know he got hurt this season but Crick and Suh were quite the combo at Nebraska. And Crick has proven that it wasnt all Suh dominating the LOS (although i wouldnt doubt that at that time, it was most Suh haha) ;) He will either be a steal if he falls or a good value pick whenever we can get him. Until he was injured he was probably a Top 15 Pick. Just throwin that out there

  37. orange1447 says:

the thing that is scary is most those yards all came in the 2nd half just think how many yards denver can rack up if they played that way an entire game!
