Punter Britton Colquitt is one of just two players in the league to rank in the top three in gross punting average (Colquitt’s 50.1 ranks third) and net punting average (Colquitt’s 43.6 ranks second).

5
Wide receiver Eric Decker caught his fifth touchdown pass of the season on Sunday. He is now tied for fourth in the NFL in that category this season.

6
Cornerback Chris Harris became the sixth different Bronco to lead (or share the lead) in tackles for a game this season. He joins linebacker Wesley Woodyard (three times), cornerback Jonathan Wilhite, linebacker D.J. Williams, linebacker Joe Mays and safety Brian Dawkins.

46.1
Colquitt’s net punting average of 46.1 yards against the Lions marked the second-highest single-game total in franchise history (min. 7 punts). His 50.4 gross punting average ranked seventh in team single-game annals (min. 7 punts).

60
Three different Broncos rushed for 60 yards or more against the Lions. Knowshon Moreno led the way with 69 and Tim Tebow and Lance Ball each gained 63 yards on the ground, totaling 195 yards on 30 carries amongst the trio.

89.7
With all three of Matt Prater’s kickoffs resulting in touchbacks, he improved his league-leading touchback percentage on kickoffs to 89.7 percent this season. 26 of his 29 kickoffs have resulted in touchbacks this season.

Bay: I disagree with your assessment of Bowlin. He’s a proven winner as an owner, and I don’t think the last 3-5 years define his ownership, leadership style, or as a strategist. He can get us back in the saddle just as he did 20 years ago. To get on him is as knee jerk as his decisions as of late. We’re really suffering from 1 decision, hiring Hurricane Josh. It set us back 5 years. It’s way too early to pass judgement on Elway as a VP, and I think he’ll be great. He’s a hall of fame player and a successful businessman. I’ll take that resume. A lot of ex players go into the operations side of football as a coach or GM. I heard Lynch say yesterday that the Lions GM is a former player. We’re a good quartback away from being a better team and a DT, LB, S, CB, DE, G, T, WR, TE, RB, and OC away from being a great team.

That’s what makes the world go round, different views on things….

Numbers, I only remember 10-45, or three points worse than the 1987 SB loss.

  3. tag says:

Yesterday showed just how far away the Broncos are from being a competitive team. Face it – there were a lot of problems that went beyond the QB position yesterday and this will be no quick fix. Certainly, better QB play would help, but there are holes all over at the moment. I came out of yesterday’s game very depressed at the state of the franchise and I suspect I am not alone.

  4. BroncosLAX says:

I hope this prediction is wrong but Raiders 27 Broncos 6

  5. killerkod says:

    Maybe we need McNabb? LMAO

Okay, seriously…………..that was just a joke.

  6. killerkod says:

Can’t remember the number exactly………..was too many times to count……….

    how many times I said……..

    Tebow…………YOU SUCK!!
    D……….YOU SUCK!!!

  7. BroncosLAX says:

Is TT the answer? No he is not simply. Urban Meyers offense cannot be ran in the pros. It is not reasonable to suggest that if Tebow ran that offense he would succeed because this is the NFL not the NCAA as much as some people want to say it is the play calling it truely is not. Tebow can only run the plays called and struggles with that it is unreasonable to suggest that at any point he will be able to easily grasp a pro offense, not even the one Newton runs. To say Luck is the product of his offensive scheme is ignorant as is to suggest Alex Smith is on the same level as Luck…

  8. BroncosLAX says:

Kiler I said nothing I was numb the duration of the game lol

  9. killerkod says:

LAX………I was just too angry to be numb…………and I’m still PISSED!

  10. 3rdGeneration says:

While I’m in the rut of Bronco reality I’ll make my score prediction. While the Raiders have a QB situation, it’s still better then ours. Broncos 13 Raiders 23

  11. killerkod says:

I think the next game will be ugly for both teams……..with a final score potentially in the single digits………..

But no official prediction from me yet…….LOL

  12. risky305 says:

I have always read these blogs for the past few years and a lot of you turn on our team too quickly. TT has 5 starts and you want to compare his play to Orton 7 years…HTF! TT will learn to read coverages by week 13 and if not he’ll learn during the offseason. How many off-seasons has Tim Tebow had? How many with DT? How many with ER? Tebow messed up during the game, but he did make some accurate throws in that game that were dropped. Did you see how fast that Lions D-Line was getting to him. Foundation starts up front, the problem i seen with TT is timing and reading coverages. He hasn’t had a chance to work on timing with his receivers because they’ve been hurt and Elway couldn’t read coverages his first few starts either. I think we can win with TT..how many times do you see Brady out of the spread offense? If we go spread right now, TT will be successful and he can learn to be that Iform type QB in the offseason but not right now…McD ran a spread out offense and TT is perfect for that type of offense, thats why HE drafted TT. Timing comes with patients. Support your team and LETS GO BRONCOS!!!

Side note..I think he should sign T.O., his work ethic can make a positive impact on our WR core. Champ and Dawk can keep down the drama.

  13. Broncfalls says:

Why do I get the feeling this franchise is going to take an ugly twist in the media when coach Fox names Orton as the starter for the Oakland game this week?

Something tells me the continued disstractions of this team will continue when we make yet another QB change and try to what I’m sure the media will call a failed predicted experiement with Tim and undo what shouldn’t have been started.

I feel like my head is bruised! LOL!

    GO GET EM’ BOYS!

  14. killerkod says:

risky………..I don’t call it turning on our team………..

I call it, as many others do on this blog……….AS IT IS…..

And it is what it is………..just plain UGLY.

  15. 1nOnlyTRB says:

OMG … can people stop saying TT is not the answer. U are ready to make a decision after 2 games? 2 games really? … Ill be damned if we go back to Orton … you better play TT the rest of the year and see if there is any improvement. And if theres not make a decision … but don’t go making decisions after 2 freaking games. Different opinions I get it … and when I see him sometimes I think (holy crap he has alot of work to do) … but I knew that before he was put in. I just want to see him get his chance … we suffered 2 and a quarter years of mediocrity from Orton … sure his numbers were inflated … but that was the McDaniels passing system where there were no runs … heck even Tebows passing numbers looked better in last years 3 games. But if you can take 2+ years of mediocrity from Orton … you better be able to suck it up and take at least 9 more games of growing pains from Tebow … is he the one? I dunno … but lets stop trying to decide that after every freaking game. They brought him in when they thought the season was looking bleak at 1-4. Post season was already off the table. So if anyone thinks it would be wise to bring in Orton or Quinn who don’t have contracts with us past this year to finish up what already looks like a losing season instead of giving Tebow reps … that logic is beyond me. What good is winning 1 or 2 more games … compared to experience for a QB you know nothing about and want to better understand? TRB

  16. Broncfalls says:

You know what really sucks? LOL! Going into that game, I was optimistic with a win but honestly wouldn’t have been surprised with a loss!

BUT….with that said, I WAS NOT expecting that! It leaves you simply speechless! Here I was thinking.”O.k., let’s get better QB play and all around higher level play from our skilled positions and see what happens..”

Really? It’s at a point where you literally throw your hands up in the air and wonder what the hell just happened even though you have a pretty good idea! I feel like that first time I came home after really dissapointing your parents and they give you “that look” LOL!

…”So mister, what do you have to say for yourself?”

    …uh…..um……uh……I’m sorry? (eyebrows raising) LOL

I still love you Broncos! but as my mother would say; you got some explaining to do! LOL

    GO GET EM’ BOYS!

  17. Broncfalls says:

    TRB,

I don’t know if you were possibly suggesting I want Tebow pulled..I’m not! I totally 150% agree with you. If you were indeed firing at my post, I was simply suggesting what I think might happen with the re-insertion of Orton and then how the media will jump all over it as a failed experiement!

I agree with you. He needs to finish this! PERIOD! I believe, ther has to be a book on Tim. We need to be able to finish this season with a clear idea of where we are headed with the QB position. I could care less about the record at this point. I think this organization needs to now see if Tim can make progress. Can he begin to take steps forward! Actually I thought he seemed more comfortable throwing this game vs. Miami. Yeah, still made mistakes but all phases need work!

I agree with you TRB….sorry if sent the wrong message!

    GO GET EM’ BOYS!

  18. strandoftds says:

    Prediction: raiders win 30-10.

  19. strandoftds says:

What bothers me about this vanilla offense is just that. Where`s the TE`s in the game for a out let?1 Where`s some of the screens? They are setting Tim up to fali. Tebow is gone after this season. He`ll succeed somewhere in a NFL florida team next year is my guess. Whoever gets him will utilize his strengths and not put Tim Tebow in a little square box and say It`s vanilla or nothing. The Broncos coaching staff is making a foolish mistake on how they use Timmy. Shame on them! If it`s over with Tim then I hope we get Andrew Luck. BRONCOS FAN 1ST, but am upset with our ORGANIZATION. Fox will fail as HC here. Boring to watch.

  20. BroncosLAX says:

They dont know how to use Tebow because the only way he will work is in a college offense and that doesnt work in the pros. Tebow is not the answer it is clear because the organization is preparing to move on that is why he is not the answer we arent going to wait 3 years for him to develop

  21. savinghyrule says:

LAX, you are one of the rudest people on these boards.

  22. BroncosLAX says:

Strand – I want to apologize to you if I rubbed you off the wrong way atany point I’m jst a really pasionate fan… Just so you know just wanted to sincerely apologize

  23. savinghyrule says:

Oops, didn’t mean to hit submit just yet. I wasn’t going to leave it at just that lol. Your opinions are valid and everything, but the way you talk to people is some of the most condescending crap I’ve come across on the internet in awhile.

  24. BroncosLAX says:

    Read my prior post…

  25. BroncosLAX says:

I know saving lol working on it bud yesterday was an upsetting day so I really wasnt observing mannerisms so my apologies if I offended you

  26. savinghyrule says:

“Just a really passionate fan”. And we’re not?

  27. milehighmagic88 says:

I have been far from consistent on who I support as our QB. At times I’ve said Orton, other times I’ve said Tebow… heck, I’ve even supported Quinn at times. The way I see it at this point, none of our QBs are the long term answer. Yes, the playcalling was bad yesterday but Timmy can’t keep missing wide open receivers by a mile. That’s just inexcusable.

I know a lot of people love Tebow because of the person he is, I get that. But the one thing I think we have to remember is that he was a JOSH McDANIELS draft pick. That to me says that it was just another awful McD decision, but everyone is blinded by that because of Tebow’s personality. I know the guy’s only started 5 games in his career, but he seems to be going backwards.

Needless to say I’m pretty sure this year is just a redshirt year for the rest of our team as we prepare to get a true franchise QB next year. I’m fine with it whoever that ends up being as long as we start winning games again.

  28. BroncosLAX says:

Like I said the game was really upsetting yesterday and when I say passionate I am fiery in my support of the team and sometime will type before i think… But I am also gonna say what I feel and its opinion, greatness has another opinion which I disagree with and will confront that I think it isn’t very valid but again I do apologize if I offend at all it is not my goal in any way

  29. stevecan2 says:

lol at lax. I love reading your stuff man. as incoherent as me blogging on my phone while drunk.

  30. BroncosLAX says:

Elway is enamored with Luck I really cant see him going any other way. And if Tebow doesnt improve in his play we may not even have to trade up for him we could just be #1…

  31. BroncosLAX says:

Thanks steve lol when I have a day to mull it over it all comes out smoother haha but in the heat of the moment…. it just splurges everywhere

  32. Jakemoir17 says:

Is it a good or bad thing that we have a good punter..?

  33. armadillo_orton says:

    Memo to America:

Orton couldn’t make this lame offense work. Now Tebow looks bad.. When does America figure out that FOX is the problem. Steve Smith is an 11 year veteren, and this year he is average more yards per catch than any under FOX….. Suck for Luck? Fox is not the guy that you want grooming any young QB period…. No slants, no screens, afraid of the no-huddle offense when we were already getting crushed.. WR’s stink, and we let Riley go…. This is horrible.. Thanks ELLIS!! You are the one destroying this team… You are the one that was to cheap to hire a real GM to help reign in McD. Then you resign Xanders & McCoy.. You are a joke. You are a financial tight wad… You are ruining us !!!

  34. strandoftds says:

    new blog.

  35. milehighmagic88 says:

armadillo… Fox is a defensive guy. He has little to do with any QBs development anyway.

  36. imready says:

We have a QB on the practice squad who might be the answer. Hope he gets a chance to suit up for a game before the end of the season. Go Broncos!

  37. risky305 says:

I don’t know if you guys have realized it, but McD knows QB’s and WR’s..made Orton look like a probowler and made lloyd a probowler…just food for thought

  38. allen#85 says:

Honestly guys, it doesn’t matter WHO our QB is if the rest of the team plays the way they have been.. But for the rest of the year I think we should play Tebow. I mean he was a first round pick so lets see what he can do.. It’s only a matter of time before he gets more comfortable in pressure, throws a little better, and reads blitzs/coverages better.

  39. timmah says:

I think the game is way too fast for tt right at the moment. He is reading things way too slow. He panics too much and runs. Sometimes it is alright but sometimes it just makes more mistakes. Boy after a couple more weeks of play when the game slows down for him and he starts to read the defenses a little faster and hits his reads a little faster he will be a better qb. Practice makes perfect but games make reality. He can practice but until he is practicing reality he will not learn. Learning comes from experience. I don’t like it when people say others suck when it just takes time to learn. Orton has 7 years of experience and couldn’t win jack crap. That is a person who needs a (lot) of talent on offense and a defense to win. YOu can say tebow looks horrible out of five starts. But give him a chance even when jay was our qb we still only scored 3 points in some of the games. I am not a tebowite and I am discouraged with his play but as mentaly tough as he is he will come out of it. It hurts to lose but if we keep bouncing around with qbs and wrs and defenses and coaches there wont be any stability within the organization. My opinion that is what got us in this mess in the first place when shanahan kept switching defensive coordinators. As someone who ran cross country through middle school to high school to college. It took a year for me to get into the highschool level and then I was pretty good. Went to state 3 years in a row. Then College it took me a month to catch up to the speed of the college level and almost went to nationals missed it by two spots. Then had some injuries had to quit unfortuately. But when it all starts clicking and the wrs get used to him along with his o line he will be, I believe great but maybe a bust and then we know we need to move on. just my opinion.

  40. bronco7fisherman says:

Remember before Elway came to Denver? Sixties and most of the seventies were tough years for the Broncos. I’m sure alot of you watched during our great years, most of us old guys don’t blog. Said all that to say this, a true Bronco fan is there thick or thin. How can everybody talk smack about Tebow and the team, we got new coachs, players front office personal, man give these these guys a chance. Sure I get frustrated too, but wow, Tebow has started two games, give me a break. Doesn’t anybody remember how bad Elway sucked his first two years. He went on to be the greatest quaterback to ever play the game I believe. I’m not saying Tebow is the answer, but he is the best chance we have this year. How will we know if the kid doesn’t play, Elway had his shot, Tebow deserves his. It’s very refreshing to se a young man that kids can look up to , that has some character, aren’t alot of those kinda players left in the NFL. I mean really, did anybody really think we were going to have a good year, we were destroyed by McDaniels, Even Elway said we are building, not rebuilding. I say Go Broncos, Go Tebow, Go Team!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  41. carnagebronc says:

People just are enamored with Tebow….blame everyone else for his bad play. Steve Smith was GREAT with Fox an All-Pro. Until last year when the qb sucked. Got a real qb this year…his numbers are back up. Tebow lovers blame everyone but Tebow for the fact he sucks. Except against the prevent defense. He is great then.

  42. BroncosLAX says:

Yeah Carnage no use in arguing with those fans… I just ignore now.

  43. allen#85 says:

I never said he didn’t play bad, but its hard to be good when you have nobody around you. Our team is just all around terrible, except for the punt team

  44. allen#85 says:

And that goes for any qb, not just tebow

  45. BroncosLAX says:

Jay threw 2 Td passes in each of his first 5 starts…

  46. allen#85 says:

Do we have Jay now? no

  47. ThatWasQuick says:

I am joining late in this discussion so I may repeat something here…
I agree that TT needs to play the rest of the season. It is ridiculous to listen to any sports media because no QB with 5 whole starts would under so much scrutiny.

I think TT’s throws looked a lot better than last week. Far more accurate and he is throwing to a very green receiving crew. The timing will come with “time”…what I don’t understand is what the heck our play calling is!! The only screen we threw we scored on.

My personal opinion is that it looks like the coaching staff is looking to keep the TE’s and the RB’s in to block thinking that will give more time in the pocket and then limiting his options to long developing plays down the field…where are the crossing routes, screens, play action role out? Every time we run the ball to the right I see no defender protecting the role out. Make the defense stay honest and not just blitz 5-6 up the middle every play.

If Decker drags a foot that helps change the complexion of the game, I counted at least 3 drops that hit the receivers hands, and normally 160+ rushing yards helps win games. Quit calling 20 yard routes and add some short routes please.

  48. allen#85 says:

Exactly. I honestly think he would play a lot better that way. I’m not saying he will play great, just better. Plus, less sacks and fumbles

  49. RabidOrange says:

Carnage: You are wrong. Flat out wrong. Tebow is not great even against prevent defense. He is good against Miami’s prevent D, and average against everyone else’s.

  50. OrangePride76 says:

Ok first our team is alright, with Kyle Orton and horrible with Tim Tebow, and we got rid of Brandon Loyd one of our best receivers,Erik Decker is good if someone with a good pass like Kyle Orton throws it to him thats how Erik Decker got good, Tim Tebow can’t throw to save his life,I would rather have Brady Quinn or even Adam Weber to play if you don’t want Orton. We should get rid of Tim Tebow and trade him for something useful, and if none of you what our current quarterbacks next year we have a lot of choices, but we need to do something good to help our team. I can’t believe you all still think he’s good we gave him a chance, he failed and he’s definitely not John Elway, not even close,ok look at cam newton he was really good on his first games and still is and Carolina has a very bad team but with Cam Newton their good, you see it’s a fact Tim Tebow can’t help us,and did you see the ball when you throws far it’s not a spiral not even close and he over throws almost every time even if its a close pass. He can’t make a drive going,he can only score from the 30 yard line of the other side of the field and if you do want Tebow why don’t they put Orton and Tebow together on each side of the center and read the defense, if this is a play Tebow can do he gets it and if Orton a pass play he gets it, it’s like a two headed quarterback. Broncos don’t have a bad team we need Orton or Quinn or Weber not Tebow.
