Opponents have yet to score on the Broncos in the first quarter this season. Denver has scored 17 points in the opening period and has led after the first quarter in each of its three games thus far.

The Broncos defense held Tennessee running backs Chris Johnson and Javon Ringer to a total of 15 yards on 19 carries on Sunday. That 0.8 yards-per-carry mark ranks as the third-best in club history.

Cornerback Jonathan Wilhite registered a sack for the second consecutive week. His two sacks in 2011 lead all NFL cornerbacks.

Rookie linebacker Von Miller is tied for the NFL lead with two forced fumbles. Against the Titans, Miller stripped quarterback Matt Hasselbeck and defensive end Derrick Harvey pounced on the loose ball. During the season opener vs. Oakland, he stripped wide receiver Jacoby Ford on the Raiders’ first offensive snap and fellow rookie Rahim Moore recovered for the Broncos.

For the third straight week, the Broncos have played a game that was decided by a field goal or less. It is the first time in club history that Denver has opened the season with three games decided by three or fewer points and only the 19th time in NFL history a team has opened that way.
55:3
With two red-zone touchdown passes against the Titans, Kyle Orton improved his career red-zone touchdown-to-interception ratio to 55:3, which is third-best among active quarterbacks behind Tom Brady and Aaron Rogers.

Kicker Matt Prater is the only player in the league to post a perfect touchback percentage on kickoffs through three games. All 13 of Prater’s kickoffs have resulted in touchbacks, including three at Tennessee on Sunday. Chicago kicker Robbie Gould ranks second with 11-of-14 kickoffs resulting in touchbacks (78.6 pct.).

You hear that…
“Everyone gets frustrated when your losing.” John Elway
at least i am not the only one.
What experience is he talking about for Orton? Loosing exp.
“When he does get in there, we give him the best chance possible.” John Elway about Tebow.
“You got to move around and make a play.” John Elway about running an offense in the Red Zone.
@ “When he does get in there, we give him the best chance possible.” John Elway about Tebow.
Another 3 games at the end of the season?
Not, stay in the pocket and hope the right play was dialed up by the coaches. No wander he avoids the TT questions. KO does not fit what he thinks is required to be successful in the red zone for a QB. Of course run game is numero uno, but it don’t take an NFL level “mind” to know that.
Possibly, we won’t screw Orton over on his next contract. It will take longer than being out of contention before Quinn or Tebow steps on the field.
“Von has been tremendous.” John Elway
Yes sir! 1st pick in the draft, I have no regrets either. Well, I did on draft day, but damn.
Why is it that all other teams taking a 1st rd. qb in the draft build their team/plays around that qb with his strengths. Here, we take one in the 1st rd. and we are changing everything about him to our system. If Orton is playing our system, then our system is not working. Things change. If you don’t change with them then you will get left behind. We are being left behind.
steve, just messing with you on the Romo thing man, seems it is easy to get under your skin today, haha!
I feel for you bro,Hell I feel the same damn way!
Sounded great, but just more of the same old story. The questions most folks wanted to hear answered were not discussed or ask.
I concur seaweatherman1,
but, the they didn’t draft Tebow, stares me in the face, everyday.
I honestly believe, that Orton wanting to be traded going into 2010. McD did not foresee anything but a Quinn / Tebow competition at QB1 just as EFX did not either. And keep in mind Ortonites, he wanted out in 2010 and 2011.
Alright guys how many times in college has a team changed to a spread Offense to suit a QB,or change to a NFL style Offense to suit a QB?
I know that’s college, but teams in the NFL do it too!
Why in the Hell can’t we change our Offense to suit Tebow?huh?WTF!!!
its all good BFE,
You just cornered me in a rough spot. Defending Romo, but I am in that everyday answering why won’t they start Tebow? Or why is Orton still the Broncos QB1?
Urban Meyer proved what you can do with Tebow, when building around him. But, we have at least two of the three brain trust members against him. Odds don’t look good.
No one is willing to paty what he thinks he is worth. If we didn’t have this contract on him I wouldn’t give him what he thinks he is worth either. That might be his suprise at the end of this season. He will really be able to find out what he is worth. It will turn out like last year though. He will just say that he didn’t have thew offense to maximize his potential. PUKE!!!!!!
paty=pay
I am not saying, going to a full out spread offense is what it would take. Not at all, we did not do it in the last three with Tebow and he still produced 25% of our wins with 18% of the starts.
Now Muschamp in Florida changed out of the spread Offense that Meyer had with Tebow, into an NFL style Offense to suit Brantley, their QB now!!!
Cant believe Elway could say the reason Orton is playing is because its his third year in the system and has more expierence in it and than turns around and says that Tebow isnt playing because its a new system this year with fox and they dont want Tebow to get frustrated and lose confidence….so y is it new for Tebow and not Orton?…I smell BS.
You are so correct stevecan. So correct. I don’t look for him to be here next year. Somebody will get him that wants his talent. Then we will look like a big fool sure enough.
I’m not saying change to a spread Offense either, but change it up to suit Tebow’s style, more rollouts, bootlegs, stuff that Orton can’t do!
88Odoms,you’re right something stinks!!!
BFE when Brantley is drafted, he will start first year too. The other teams that drafted qb’s used to the spread offense use the spread offense in their game plan. We don’t. Have to do it old school and loose.
And yes, more BS! Spread the butter on the toast thick boys, it’s getting slick around here.
My question wasn’t asked…
Is Kyle Orton the best 7 on 7 QB you have ever seen?
lol I wander why.
There is one thing that really sticks out now. That answer to the one TT question was extremely scripted answer. It is obvious that they know nothing of TT background through each level of playing. He has had to adapt to each and every one to succeed, which he did. That much is evident. Who is to say he can not do the same thing here. If not given the chance to succeed, he never will. Now look back at last years stats and what do they tell us about him?
I call it now.
Next year, we will draft a QB, and the EFX crew, will start mentioning little things like “rebuilding” year and the like. They got Doom and Champ to resign, VOn is locked up for awhile.
Go into camp with an “open” competition and give it to the rookie, mentioning once again, “rebuilding”. The only difference is that the dog and pony show that is Tim Tebow in a Denver Broncos uniform will be on the field more often.
And if this goes down and I remember how Elway stated you don’t put a young QB in too soon, he will lose confience. I will know 100%, he stood tall and strong on the field and in the front office, lie like a rug.
Cam Newton came from a spread Offense, and look at him, they say he is more NFL ready, and I agree that he is a more accurate passer, but Tebow ain’t that far behind him,he should start,I could go on and on the rest of the day why he should start, but we are just beating our heads against the wall.
So what did you guys learn from the Elway tweeter live?
That according to Elway the reason they aren’t playing Tim is because it is anew system. The reason they are playing Orton is because he has played in the system for 3 years. So is it a new system or a system they have been using for 3 years?
He also said he doesn’t want to hurt his confidence by putting him in too early. Like that is possible LOL!!! If the stupid analysts and Tebow haters can’t hurt his confidence than why would learning the game and the system hurt his confidence?
We GOTTA put Tebow in to survive the Packers with their pass rush of Clay Matthews!!!!! Kyle is good, but he would get sacked like 20 times if he was in!
You hurt his confidence by drafting him in the 1st round and NOT starting him,it shows you have no faith in him!!!
The new system thing makes no sense at all because Fox told us all along that the reason he kept McCoy was to keep some continuity on O while he worked with the D. They need to get their story straight, haha.
The confidence thing is even more out there, everyone knows the last thing in the entire NFL world anyone has to worry about is a lack of confidence from Tebow or the risk of it, that man is a lion, he will scare you, he won’t get scared by anything, much less the NFL, it’s too bad they are thinking of him as the average Joe QB, he is anything but, the man is made of steel. All that tells me all those are b.s. reasons and the money still is the real reason, that’s all. With all due respect I don’t buy those answers John.
The whole thing is actually pretty transparent to me, haha.
But not the way they claim it to be….
I hope the Broncos start Tebow after the bye week when we`re 1-5. If not we are in for a long season.
1-4
And keep in mind if they start Tebow before the 9th game, escalators come in.
OK 1-4. Not sure what to make of this. Yesterday on 850 KOA dave Kreiger said that there is no escalators in Tim Tebows contract, Kreiger said not that I know of. In all honosty, I don`t know what to believe at this point.
That’s a joke, the entire Tebow contract was laid out in the DP, gotta make up your own mind about things, can let everything sway the way the boat sails.
Kreiger also mentioned that most of Tims contract is this year. I DON`T KNOW!!!!!!
Like you always say you have difficulties with the business part of things and that’s fine just enjoy the season without worrying about Tebow’s contract.
It`s a mute point now, regardless we are in for a mess this season, so the boat gets rocked anyway.
new blog
I will Bay, chin up!
From seweatherman1: “If you don’t change with them then you will get left behind. We are being left behind.” I was saying this exact thing the other day, the dominant teams of the past are starting to come down and now we’re seeing those teams who rebuilt properly rise to become contenders. Not this organization. We have yet to get it right and get back on track, we were there in the early 2000′s, making consecutive trips to the playoffs (although we were getting hammered by the Colts it was nice to enjoy playoff football) and then finally breaking through and playing at home in an AFC Championship game, which we eventually lost but since then, since 2005…..crickets. This will now be the 6th season of mediocre, semi competitive football for the Broncos.
You know that kid that was bigger than everyone else in pop warner and dominated but when he got to High School all the kids caught up to him and eventually past him but that pop warner stud rebouned, played D1 football and is now in the pros…….we are that kid in High School everyone is passing us bye and we’ve done nothing to become competitive again.
If you watch football intently like i’m sure you all do you’ve seen over the last 4-5 years as cellar dwellar teams have rebuilt their image, made good acquisitions and drafted well are now teams to be feared. Lions, Bills, Raiders, Chargers, Falcons, Saints, Bears….these are all teams that were left for dead but did some serious rebuilding and they are now ligitimate contenders to win their divisions. I’m starting to think again that letting Shanny go wasn’t such a great idea. When you have change at the top constantly the team moral and structure changes and it’s hard for players to adjust………..now given they are pros and they should adapt but the teams that are successful are ones that keep their core from Head Coach to GM and keep their most proven players.
If Tebow was in when we were denied at the 1 yard line we win, there’s been other instances too where if we would have tried a different package or plugged Tebow in we’d be 3-0 but we are 1-2 and now have a realistic shot at being 1-4 heading into the bye week. If we are 1-4 heading into the bye it’s time to play Tebow and see what we have. Fox needs to stop listening to what they said at the beginning of the season of what are record is going to be because if proving the experts right that we were going to finish in last in our division with 4-12 record well he is right on pace to meet those expections. Expections that are not good enough for an organization like the Denver Broncos.
We are too vanilla on our play calls, slants, passes to the flat, runs up the middle….I mean mix it up…..get creative….4 running attempts up the middle isn’t fooling anybody. How about the O-line block somebody and how about the DB’s figure it out. Vaughn is getting picked on like Foxworth did when he was young…..I’m done, show me something this weekend and shock all those people who are most certainly picking the Packers and let’s wreck alot of peoples survivor pools!
My predictions against Green Bay.
If Orton starts we lose 6-42, if Tebow starts we lose 14 – 28
I appreciate this new wave of predictions, but as far as I’m concerned Orton is the starter so all predictions will be taken as if he was so in this case 6-42 it is.
