When Quinton Carter intercepted Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger on Sunday, he became the first Broncos rookie in franchise history to record a postseason interception. It was also the first of the rookie safety’s career.
2
Quarterback Tim Tebow became just the second player in NFL postseason history to pass for more than 300 yards and two touchdowns without an interception, and also run for 50 or more yards and a touchdown. He joined Joe Montana in accomplishing that feat.
5
Denver’s defense sacked Ben Roethlisberger five times on Sunday, matching the most sacks allowed by Pittsburgh in a single game this season. Defensive end Robert Ayers led the way with his first career multi-sack game. Defensive tackle Broderick Bunkley, defensive end Elvis Dumervil and linebacker Von Miller each added one sack a piece.
11
Safety David Bruton became the 11th different player to lead or share the lead in single-game tackles for the Broncos this season. He finished with eight stops (all solo) and one pass breakup against Pittsburgh.
30
Tebow completed four passes of 30 or more yards in the second quarter on Sunday against Pittsburgh. He is the first player to toss four 30-plus-yard passes in the same quarter since Warren Moon did so in 1990, and the first player to ever do so in a playoff game since at least 1960. Tebow finished the game with five 30-plus-yard passing plays — just two fewer than the Steelers defense had allowed all season entering the game.
31.6
Tebow’s 10 completions for 316 yards yielded an average per completion of 31.6 yards, which is the second-highest single-game mark in NFL history (regular or postseason, min. 10 completions). It sits behind only Joe Namath’s 15 completions for 496 yards against Baltimore on Sept. 24, 1972.
51.0
Wide receiver Demaryius Thomas caught four passes for 204 yards – good for an average of 51.0 yards per reception — against the Steelers on Sunday. That figure is the second highest single-game total among receivers with at least four catches in a game in NFL history (regular season or postseason).
80
Tebow’s 80-yard touchdown pass to Thomas was the longest overtime scoring play in NFL postseason history. The play took just 11 seconds, making Sunday’s game the shortest overtime game in NFL postseason history.
204
Thomas, who set a franchise postseason record with 204 receiving yards against the Steelers, posted the seventh-most receiving yards in a single game in NFL postseason history. It was the first time all season the Steelers allowed a 100-yard receiver.

Hi TRB… How’s your day so far?
Glad to see you broke up with your girlfriend Vodka, LOL.
Repost from last blog. I was victim of the “New Blog” scenario.
Tebow provokes the good, bad, and ugly. He brings out the radical in people. Funny thing is, IMO, he doesn’t preach to people. He’s just consistentenly positive and incorporates faith into his message. Others then feel justified in preaching and pushing their views on others. With that said, this is a football blog! and the first and last time I’ll speak to the faith side of Tebow on here.
Turtle,
Days good so far … can’t complain. Always something to be greatful for.
TRB
I can’t wait for the replay on NFL Network. I have to see this game again. Watching live makes it more difficult to analyze! No benefit of replay, slow
motion, different angles, etc.
Oh crap, the 316, 31.6, we all know where that’s heading, LOL.
Back to bible class….
Its already headed there multiple times on the blog. musta missed it.
In DC headline after game said “Broncos have new verse; Tebow 316″
DC headline refering to DC newspaper the examiner, (cuz I work right outside DC).
What is with the bible classes?
Haha Bay… Vodka was more of a Mistress that Owned me Sunday night… Crown Royal was the Drink of Choice back in the day of my drinking…
Either way, My sincere apologies for being out of line… I don’t know if I said anything offensive, but my manner of saying what I said was not exactly professional….
TRB… Gald to hear you day is going well so far!
Talk to you guys this evening!!!
Alex -
I was talking draft, b/c last night’s game had a ton of defensive talent in it.. My opinion is it is never too early to think about the draft, at least not for the teams that have strong draft traditions, and we’re joining that list of draft darlings baby!!!
If I missed it then I missed the score predictions, LOL, don’t think so…
For those on twitter, Eddie Royal is giving away 2 tickets to the Patriots game in NE … the Ticket includes airfare and hotel. You also get to meet and greet with Royal … and a signed Jersey.

BT – I loved your rant! I literally LOL when reading it!
I gave Tebow a little “tough love” (deserved IMO) here after the KC loss, hopefully my ticket for the Tebow Express is still valid.. Lol
You just rubbed it in as deep as you could go, but whatever, addressed it already and I’m all fine with, in fact called for a truce on one of my posts, hope you saw it.

Tebow threw for 316. According to John 3:16:”For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

OT, once upon a time I was quite a drunk, and those outbursts were a common occurence… Eeesh!!!! lol
TRB, I hope you didn’t take time off your job to do that for me, like you very well know I read every posts, I have to for contest purpose, except for the live game blog and that’s why there is no score prediction on game day ever. I’m not that hard to figure out….
***Official Score Prediction***
Broncos 31
Patriots 24
No worries BT, we’ve all made mistakes (except Tebow).. It what you learn from them.. Lesson from Sunday? Stick to whiskey!
Took no time … i knew where I was looking … my point was they had already gone there on the blogs before whether they are the ones u read or not. I am Aware you do not read the live blogs because people are usually overly emotional after a win or loss. Either too much negativity or too much kool aid. And not much time of work … got free time, still waiting on my security clearance. TRB
Is it my imagination, or has this been an incredible year for the Broncos’ stat sheet (since Tebow took over)? It seems like every other week, the team, or someone on it, is setting this record or tying that one or coming in 2nd or 3rd to something else. Very exciting!
Well, I was fully convinced that the Steelers were going to chew us up and spit us out, and considering how things turned out, I see no reason to change my approach to this next game! We just don’t have the talent on Defense to match up with all of Brady’s weapons. It’s going to be fun to watch, just knowing how great it is that we made it this far into the playoffs, but even with fewer mistakes and improved offensive play (which I fully expect) there’s just no way we match the Patriots point-for-point. Belichick is just too good at making adjustments and taking advantage.
Next year, however, will be another story!
Ouch, almost got the first loss prediction of the week…
Anyone know Larson’s status for Saturday? If he can’t go, I wonder if Fox will activate Sylvester b/c it would be nice to have FB if we want to pound the rock down their throats…
Actually it was a loss prediction, just no score.
It was the same last week, no Larsen and Sylvester inactive, when in need of a FB Fox brought in an extra O lineman.
Yep, i wonder what we do this week.. Call me crazy, but I think we may see JThomas active for this game with Decks no going.. Wishful thinking???
JThomas would give us that secret weapon that they won’t expect.. I think we need to show something different each game to keep moving on, IMO
The team we saw this last weekend is one we haven’t seen in a long time! The analyst make me sick of their deflection to give TT any credit. DT was a beast, glad to see that! Mcgahee just got stopped by a good running D. All in all great job guys!!
Has anyone heard of whats going on with the Rams wanting to talk the D. Allen about the HC job?
Would love to see us beat them at their own game, Fells and JThomas baby!!!
I hope DA stays here! He seems like a really good DC.
Their gonna be all over DT on Sat, we need someone else to step up.. Could it be Willis?? JThomas? Rosario?
Royal and Willis can catch too!!!
So let them double DT,that leaves Royal(who is a speedster one on one).Plus helps us in the running game(takes guys outta the box).
Man we really need a RB or FB catching balls outta the backfield!
For some reason JThomas has completely fallen from glory. We see green and Rosario on the field way more than him. Fells is expected because he is the starter … but Julius used to be 2nd string … not sure what the depth chart says now.
I believe we win if we play balanced football … when we lost we had a tendency of being one-sided … even in some victories. Run game will be important tho if last game was any indication. But lets not forget we can pass … especially on first downs.

Last comment for a while..
I read people saying that people we’re calling for McCoy’s head, only to praise him after the game… Well, there was a video on this website before the KC game where he said he and Fox ran the same 6 plays over and over again.. Well, thank God he tossed that plan, and changed it up…
Show me more creativity on Saturday McCoy!!! We need to change it up again for NE to have a chance
I think with the extra attention that will be paid to DMT, Royal has a golden opportunity to be the guy I’ve always thought he had potential to be since I watched him in his rookie season. There should be room in the slot for him to take advantage of………..and I hope he makes them pay. We can’t just be one-dimensional with DMT either……..and I hope TT doesn’t have him locked in his sights all day or we’ll be toast.
BFE, from what I’ve watched, there have been RB’s open for catches, but TT hasn’t passed it to them, instead he would scramble and look for the reciever downfeild or tuck and run it himself.
Tebow really needs to utilize his check-downs. It’s nice he’s keeping his eyes downfield for the big play, but sometimes a 3 or 4 yard gain to your HB in the flat is good.
yup brian………..he’s missed many sure completions cause he’s kept his eye on the big play only………he def needs to make quicker reads…if it ain’t there, move on to the next guy.
Glad im not the only one that noticed it. Tebow is check down blind … he needs to pad his stats like other qbs .. dump it off to the Rb and let him do the work. I believe it was the Bears game where the RBs had to tell him “if you see us open, pass it to us, we are here too u know” … or something to that effect … which helped late in the game while the Bears D was playing back alot.
Also DP reporting that there is precedence of leaving one team and coaching for another …. with our very own broncos. Shanny was fired mid season back n the late 80s and he joined up as an assistant with the Broncos during the same season and also played against the raiders.
TRB
I think some of that is just his competitiveness, but also some of it is in-experience and difficulty with his defensive reads. Another reason is it seems like his backs usually role to the right side flat and him being a lefty likes to role to his left. So hitting a RB he’d need to throw across his body and if you don’t have enough velocity or accuracy on the ball a quick LB or CB could pick it off easily. But this will be a game where 3 or 4 yard gainers will be critical for us.
I think McGahee should be forced to carry a football in his hands all week and have guys try to strip it out of his hands………..lol
He needs to be sure he takes care of the ball……….his two fumbles in a playoff game are unacceptable. Could’ve been a completely different outcome if they recovered the first one, as it was deep in our zone.
Baby steps Brian and Killer…Baby steps
He will learn.
It’s kind of funny because I consider the “baby steps” checking down, but Tebow is slinging the ball down the field 20+ yards. So a check down shouldn’t be too hard should it?
About the it’s Tebow’s fault vs. it’s the coaches fault debate:
Asked Sunday night if he had seen anything different from the Broncos than he saw in film study, Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said: “The number of (pass) attempts wasn’t surprising. The number of long completions was. … (It was) execution.”
It may not be as black and white as all that but I would think Tomlin knows a thing or two more about NFL football than any of us here do, just saying.
Hello All
Coaching wrestling, I was looking on some forums this morning and I saw this quote. It reminded me of our Beloved Broncos! IMHO….kinda how I feel about this team….thought I would share
“Hard work will ALWAYS beat talent until talent decides to work hard!”
