Honoring Military Service Members

November 9th, 2011 - 11:43am by Stuart Zaas

Sgt. Scott Graham wrote in to the Denver Post asking for Broncos Country to help vote for Broncos games to be aired on the American Forces Network. Each week, the AFN holds a vote on Facebook and the game with the most votes is broadcast overseas.

Graham, who is currently serving in Kuwait, is asking for fans to help him watch his favorite team play.

To help him and other Broncos fans that are serving in the military, click here to vote for the Broncos games on the American Forces Network Facebook page.

In honor of Veterans Day, the Broncos’ game against the Jets on Thursday, Nov. 17 has been designated as a military appreciation game. The Broncos are teaming up with Bud Light to salute our service members by recognizing select heroes during the Celebration of our Military at that game.

If you would like to nominate an active, inactive, retired or reserve hero for the honor and a chance for them to receive tickets and pregame field passes, click here to share their story with us.

Were a lot closer to La Crescenta – an hour North of there. I’m in Lancaster – my business centers in Ventura County and San Fernando Valley.

Not familiar with that area, but know where you are at. And I can speak from experience, those that think the desert doesn’t get cold has never been in one. I can remember freezing my but off a the National Traing Center, Fort Irwin, in January and February.

Unfortunate return to normalcy in Tebowland…still was 10/21 last week….McGahee and Royal really bailed us out…
Love reading the blogs here….MOST of the posters are like flags in the wind with their opinions….I read all kinds of stuff…during the game…people say our defense is horrible….during the week we have gelled and playing well….no one had anything good to say about the Oline recently…on the Elway blog, people talking about it being a “team strength” I think the Tebow euphoria has swept up all of the rational thinking.
This team plays poorly as a whole in Arrowhead….Tebow still hasn’t figured out how to throw the ball yet. KC has VERY good backers and an improving secondary and an excellent defensive coordinator. It will be an interesting and low scoring game, but I believe KC will win it. And yep I got a plate and some bird seasoning prepared if crow is on the menu.

Looks like TB has claimed fat Albert on waivers…. Thank God we can put that silly thought to bed..

Bay I posted my pick yesterday you get it? Den 31 KC 13?

I believe our weakest link is the CB opposite Bailey. Our D-line is playing fairly well this year, especially conpared to last year! Our O-line I thought was a HUGE strength, but it has been hard for them getting used to TEBOW. MY man “CLADY” has been getting called for holding too much and O Franklin is still getting used to the NFL pace. Overall they are coming together well. Really impressed with JD Walton and the guards play. Give them a few years together and they will be the ELITE group in the NFL in my opinion! Like/Love our linebackers, and Bailey and Dawkins can still do it at a PRO BOWL level when our D-line gets pressure. I thought our WR were a STRONG point, but with Lloyd going down the road – I still think we need D Thomas to STEP HIS GAME UP!!! Not too mention I prefer ROYAL at Special Teams not as a WR. He can make a catch in traffic at all!!! He’s just too small! Loved the Punt Return though!!! Magahee is a STUD!!! And I still believe that either J Thomas or Daniel Fells will step up and become important to this offense – if not we need to ship them down the road!

    GO BRONCOS!!! 8)

Stop talking about the Mojave desert, Lancaster, Palmdale, Ventura, Santa Clarita area. You guys are making me homesick.

Glad to see we are still giving DJ no respect. One of the few permnent a best fixtures in our D for a long time. Very versatile as well. Some say he is overrted but the way alot of bronco fans give him no respect, ill wager he is more under rated than overated.

Btw, I would take darrent williams opposite champ over the other cbs that have played opposite him. RIP Dwill. Foxworth prolly the next best … never liked bly. Goodmans first year he was pretty great. And indeed marquan manuel and mcree were the worst safety tandem we ever had. No more charger rejects please.

I grew up in Camarillo – wrestled, played football and baseball at A. Cam High. Used to ride my bike out to Pt. Mugu before I could drive. Did a lot of high school dating out by Mugu Rock.

709 – you’re N. Ca right? You got the better hunting / the better blacktail deer. Closer to the ski slopes. More and better fishing and waterski.

Our offshore can’t shake a stick at the North unles you go way south into Mexican waters.

and you have football stadiums there!!!

ok – we have USC and UCLA and …

  13. alexanserg says:

This comes as a total shock to me. That Bay, or anyone, would disparage DJ Williams skills. He has been our best backer (and one of the better linebackers in the league) for years. He can play any linebacking position well, but he seams to be best at weak side. At anyrate, he is one of our best defensive players, and has led the broncos in tackles just about every year he has started or us.

  14. 1nOnlyTRB says:

30 point game. PRs don’t happen every week and neither to 60 yard runs by mcgahee. I do however believe this team can score in the 20s max. Also as long as we can keep tamba holi in check we shouldn’t have too much pressure. Unlike carnage I saw improvement in the team .. oline included … what they lack is consistency and the reason they held up so well against a strong d front is because we reported clark in as an elligible reciever many times. Tebow has a long way to go but he is moving … apparently not fast enough for some people.

    Denver 27
    chiefs 23

  15. alexanserg says:

Not to mention, he is pretty good in coverage too. Get’s beaten occasionally (what lb doesn’t) but he is always close, and more often than not at least in a position to make a play on the ball and either knock it down or bring it in.

  16. alexanserg says:

But anyway, when is Ty Warren supposed to be coming off injury?

  17. HardHitting27 says:

Warren will not see a field this season he was placed on IR at the end of training camp.

  18. alexanserg says:

    Prediction:

    24-14

  19. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Ty warren was moved from PUP to IR a long time ago. He is done for da year.

    TRB

  20. alexanserg says:

Hmm, I was thinking they decided not to place him on injured reserve in hopes of getting him back in week 10 or so. Guess I missed that they ended up putting him on IR after all.

  21. RH709 says:

Yes sir, I currently live in what is now known as the hometown of Aaron Rodgers. Formerly known for being on Playboys top 10 college party towns.

I’ll trade the Nor. Cal hunting and fishing for the So. Cal. desert and dirt biking anyday :)

  22. alexanserg says:

I’ll trade not living in So Cal for not having to deal with the So Cal police anyday. Them F’s are mean.

  23. alexanserg says:

Er I guess I would be trading living there for the rest, but w/e. heh

  24. daddybronc says:

I prefer mediocre DJ to some all-star ego.

Even Meck in his website talks about his epiphany happening when the fans turned against him. Do you recall? I lived in Denver then and it was a media feeding frenzy…Mecklenburg was the meal. He came out of that a better man and a better player.

I think the Broncos have a number of positions that could be improved – but…I’m happy with where we are.

Carnage – no doubt the Broncos have the ability to blow this game…but I hope you do have to eat that crow – or a bunch of them – I think our limit here in CA is 24 per day – 24 in possession – I’m hoping to feed you a ton of crow. LOL

  25. alexanserg says:

Actually, imo, other than the bay area, Venice Beach, and maybe San Diego, pretty much all of California sucks. Yreka? Give me a break lol.

  26. alexanserg says:

By the way, I mean in terms of cities. Obviously as far as outdoors stuff goes you have the redwoods, joshua tree, mojave desert, lake tahoe, ETC.

  27. brian_schneider says:

It’s so hard to make any kind of prediction because Tebow’s performances are streaky. One thing we do need to work on is, once again, penalties. We put ourselves in too many 3rd and longs by committing dumb penalties.

  28. daddybronc says:

I moved to Lancaster a year ago – the police presence has been a surprise to me. They are everywhere. In Ventura county where I came from the police have to make criminals outta everyone cuz there isn’t any real bad guys.

Lancaster is in LA County – good biking etc. but if you are not in an approved area – they’ll cuff you. Same with hunting. But they are not as serious about traffic tickets – as long as you don’t get caught by the cameras. There are police everywhere here.

  29. daddybronc says:

Brian – when Broncos go into Raiderland or Chiefsville I count on a lot of penalties. I think there is a trade-off and the emotion is needed.

  30. daddybronc says:

They can clean it up when the Jets come to town.

  31. daddybronc says:

They need to quit being predictable and always throwing on those 3rd and long. They need to trade of the run and shoot plays with the run plays. Up the gut on third and long is almost always a loser.

  32. RH709 says:

I tell you what. Until Royal broke it to the house, Oakland Colesium was crazy loud anytime our O stepped onto the field.

  33. daddybronc says:

709 – glad to hear it – I didn’t know how much Tebow has had to face a loud crowd.

  34. daddybronc says:

Having a difficult time concentrating on life in S. Ca. Football season makes me nuts.

Headed to get something done – outta the office.

  35. Orange27CRUSHER says:

DJ Williams is one of the BEST PLAYERS on the entire TEAM!!!

    He is a tackling MACHINE!!!

    GO BRONCOS!!! 8)

  36. alexanserg says:

Can’t wait for sunday. I’m not sure what to expect out of either team. Will it be the KC team that got Thrashed by the dolphins, or the one that shut out the raiders?

  37. S.D.Bronco30 says:

    Broncos 14
    KC 17

We have a tuff time in KC

  38. BroncosLAX says:

DJ has been a solid fixture for years and would get much more recognition if this Defense has been better. He has never complained and does only what the team has asked. Great Guy

  39. orangemnm says:

We do have a tough time in KC usually, but this KC team is built on its D. I haven’t seen anything from the offense that impresses me with them. I think with them being banged up, we could possibly do to them what detroit did to us.
